  • How to convert an image to a .dwg file

    My girlfriend is making an art project where she is having an image printed and cut out on a metal plate. The firm responsible for doing this is demanding a .dwg file (and something called polyline; some sort of setting maybe?). Neither of us have heard about this file format, and I find the information about it quite confusing. Most pages seem to link to some schetchy "FooToBarConverter" software, that I frankly don't trust. Could someone please enlighten us on what we need to do, or point to some safe and preferably free software that could do this? (An explanation of the dwg format and the polyline thing would also be much appreciated)

    I sometimes get .mp4 and other video formats whose aspect ratio is clearly off What apps do you use to reconvert such videos to an aspect ratio better suited to to fit either a regular desktop or LCD screen size? Hopefully with little or no loss of audio/video quality Any instructions on best settings to use would be very welcome. I have so far mostly used vlc which came off with less-than-ideal results.   • Using sed to convert hex characters in postgresql dump file

    I am working on moving several databases from a Postgresql 8.3 server to a Postgresql 8.4 server. It has worked fine so far, but one base has given me some trouble. The database is listed as unicode-encoded in the 8.3-server, but somehow a client program has managed to inject some invalid unicode data into it. When I do a normal dump and restore using postgres' custom format, the new server won't accept it, complaining about unicode errors. My plan is to do a plain text dump of the database, then use sed to replace the invalid characters with nothing (they are not needed). But how do you make sed work on hex/binary values in a file?

    Are there any quality products (ideally open source) that allow me to run an arbitrary SQL query that results in 2 columns (username, group name) and they adds that username in AD to a group of that name in AD? If the username doesn't exist it is ignored. If the group name doesn't exist ideally it gets created. Updated for Clarity: I have a MSSQL based system that is the authoritative source for some of the Active Directory Security groups, and their members. I want to be able to to have those Active Directory Security Groups populated by a one-way sync originating from MSSQL. Sadly the MSSQL based system does not have a good API, so I will have to do this with direct SQL calls. Is there anything that does this well?

    I have some videos from a few years ago,with various formats, such as avi, mpg, wmv, rm, rmvb, .... Their sizes are huge(more than 500 MB, and sometimes 1GB). Given there may likely be some advance in data compression, I would like to know which file formats and compression methods are recommended these days, by the standard that without losing obvious data, while achieving big size reduction. How can I perform the file format conversion and data compression in Ubuntu 12.04? Command line and batch ways would be the most convenient, although GUI ways are also appreciated.   • Convert Public Folder to Shared Mailbox

    Due to a change in company policy, all existing Public Folders (PF) have to be phased out in favour of shared mailboxes. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have any procedures or guidelines for this migration and I can't find much online either. I've already migrated one of our public folders so far as a sort of test case. Because we still use Exchange 2003, we can't create real shared mailboxes as we would in 2007 or 2010 (With New-Mailbox -Shared ... in the Exchange Shell). Instead, I simply created a new account on the AD and assigned it a mailbox. I then set the PF's permissions to read-only to keep it in a consistent state and copied the entire folder to a local PST in Outlook 2010, from which the folder was in turn copied to the new mailbox. Permissions and Folder Visible were set for all users and the migration was successful. While this works, the whole procedure feels very hackish to me and not at all efficient. I'd welcome some input on automating or at least streamlining the process. Additionally, we are unsure of what to do with our mail-enabled Public Folders. Several of these are nested under other PFs, some of which are also mail-enabled. Preserving folder structure is a key requirement and this seems impossible at first glance. I've considered creating dummy accounts for all the email addresses from our mail-enabled PFs and then setting up automated rules to forward messages to a subfolder of the new shared mailboxes, but I am not familiar enough with Exchange to know if this is even possible. Further points of concern are the Calendars and Contact lists in our public folders. I suppose I'll be forced to create new mailboxes for every one of these we have as well, then set up share permissions for their Calendar and Contact items, but would be happy to be proven wrong.

I want to change those values to show percentage change (on a daily basis) from the zero date (ie the first day of the two year period). I know that the formula for showing daily percentage change would be (second day/first day -1) and that I can click and drag on that formula to extend over the rest of the two-year time period. The formula I want would be, basically, (each day/first day-1). Is there an easy way to automate the script so I dont have to type it out 730 times?
