  I currently have Apache httpd running on a production Ubuntu VPS server. I write php scripts. I'm interested in learning Java and I was wondering how I would go about writing some server-side Java to work on my current set-up. How are Apache Tomcat and Apache HTTP Server related to each other? Can Tomcat be a module of httpd? Or are they simply just two very different projects that happen to be steered by the same organisation (Apache Software Foundation)?

  I have a Debian Squeeze EC2 AMI. On booting up an instance with it and trying to install packages with apt-get I get errors saying there is no keyring installed.   Say that I have a domain name called example.com and two server located at 2 different IP addresses: 1.2.3.4 and 6.7.8.9. How could I assign example.com to 1.2.3.4 and the subdomain foo.example.com to 6.7.8.9? [EDIT] I did try to put a A record linking from @ to the first IP address and from foo.example.com to the second IP address, as illustrated below: And I did configure a vhosts called foo.example.com on my server at IP address 2. The @ record works. But after 3 hours waiting for the result (DNS delay), nothing happened with foo.example.com, which link to nothing. Why?

  Hey'a guys, I have an issue with the Youtube Player within Ubuntu, it seems that when playing videos there in black & white, no matter if there normal or HD. I kind of figured out how to prevent this from happening by deleting the cookie PREF that holds a KV Pair like so: PREF f1=50000000&fv=10.2.154 .youtube.com / Sat, 12 Mar 2011 11:38:29 GMT The issue is the Flash Version key, when I Delete this the color comes back, but obviously when I navigate to another page the cookie is set again. Does anyone know why this issue occurs and a possible fix? Using Latest Google Chrome on the latest version of Ubuntu (Installed 3 days ago) Thanks

• How to send Content-Disposition headers in apache for files?

  I have a directory of text files that I'm serving out with apache 2. Normally when I (or any user) access the files they see them in their browser. I want to 'force'* the web browser to pop up a 'Save as' dialog box. I know this is possible to do with the Content-Disposition headers (more info). Is there some way to turn that on for each file? Ideally I'd like something like this: <Directory textfiles> AutoAddContentDispositionHeaders On </Directory> And then apache would set the correct content disposition header, including using the same filename. Something like this might be possible with the apache Header directive. Bonus points if it's included by standing in apache in debian. I could do a simple PHP wrapper script that takes in a filename argument, makes the call to header(...) and then prints the file, but then i have to validdate input etc. that's work I'm trying to avoid. * I know you can't actually force things when it comes to the web

IIS 7.0 uses the following informational HTTP status codes: 100 - Continue. 101 - Switching protocols. 2xx - Success These HTTP status codes indicate that the server successfully accepted the request. IIS 7.0 uses the following success HTTP status codes: 200 - OK. The client request has succeeded. 201 - Created. 202 - Accepted. 203 - Nonauthoritative information. 204 - No content. 205 - Reset content. 206 - Partial content. 3xx - Redirection These HTTP status codes indicate that the client browser must take more action to fulfill the request.   I'm using nginx + passenger. I'm trying to understand the nginx response 200 and 304. What does this both means? Sometimes, it responses back in 304 and others only 200. Reading the YUI blog, it seems browser needs the header "Last-Modified" to verify with the server. I'm wondering why the browser need to verify the last modified date. • Does the lense for videos search youtube correctly

  When I search in youtube.com for "Erika Tipo 11" I get videos about the actual show. When I do the same using the Dash video Lense I get anything else except the actual show. I mean I even get chinesse stuff, some yoga lessons and anything VERY out there that is not even remotely related to the show. Now my questions are: Does the video lense search in a similar way as searching in youtube/vimeo/any other video site? Is there an option apart from the Filter settings to configure the behavior of the search so it searches in a similar way as one would do when searching from the actual site.

  I can't open Youtube.com on computer with lubuntu and mint. I see that my flash works properly on other sites. Problem is in for example on youtube (yming.com loading without endless) and vimeo. I tried to use firefox and chromium. I thought that it would be problem with dns (I have dns from DHCP - opendns) so I changed to google dns but it didn't help to solve problem. When I use text browser - Links these site are opening well in text mode. I think that the problem is with flash or java. On other computer with windows connected to the same network these sites are being opened without problem. I am on the point that I don't know what to do next, because I tried to install and uninstall flash several times. I tried Flash-Aid as well.

  My business' website suddenly started loading extremely slowly over HTTPS last night and continues through today. The facts: Page loadtime via HTTPS - 2 minutes +, HTTP - 3 seconds max. NO updates were done on any site files in the past 2 weeks. This is on Shared Hosting HTTPS has worked perfectly over the past 9 months then suddenly failed yesterday. Hosting company and SSL issuer say there are no problems on their end. - Searches for others having similar issues return no results, it appears to be just me... Site is primarily run via php/mysql Currently attempted troubleshooting: Tried all major browsers and different versions - same result. Tried 2 separate ISPs - same result. Tried proxies - same result. Tried 3 separate computers - same result. I'm basically at a total loss here. Does anyone know what could cause such a thing to happen? Please help guide troubleshooting.

  Hi people! I am trying to do a really simple basic authentication with Spring Security. I have configured properly the namespace, and there are no Exceptions in the server. The problem is, that nor "cucu", neither "bob" can login there. Can anyone see what am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance! ;-)
