  • Unselecting RadioButtons in Java Swing

    When displaying a group of JRadioButtons, initially none of them is selected (unless you programmatically enforce that). I would like to be able to put buttons back into that state even after the user already selected one, i.e., none of the buttons should be selected. However, using the usual suspects doesn't deliver the required effect: calling 'setSelected(false)' on each button doesn't work. Interestingly, it does work when the buttons are not put into a ButtonGroup - unfortunately, the latter is required for JRadioButtons to be mutually exclusive. Also, using the setSelected(ButtonModel, boolean) - method of javax.swing.ButtonGroup doesn't do what I want. I've put together a small program to demonstrate the effect: two radio buttons and a JButton.   • Can't run rails server as daemon

    I'm using rails 2.3.2 and when I run script/server -d, the only output I get is = Booting Mongrel = Rails 2.3.2 application starting on http://0.0.0.0:3000 which is fine. But when I check for anything running on port 3000, i get nothing. Any ideas?

  • Calculating ComboBox DropDownWidth in C#

    In my application a ComboBox gets resized, so that it is smaller. How do I re-calculate the DropDownWidth property? I know how to set it, but I'd prefer to calculate the proper width because its contents changes.   • sendmail and MX records when mail server is not on web host

    This is a problem I'm sure is easy to fix, but I've been banging my head on it all day. I'm developing a new web site for a client. The web site resides at (this is an example) website.com. I have a PHP form script to email visitors' requests to [email protected]. When I coded this on a staging server on a different domain, all worked fine. When I moved it to website.com, the mail messages never arrived. The web server is on a virtual host with a major ISP. Here's what I've learned since then: My client's mail server is Microsoft Exchange on a box physically in their office. Whenever someone on the outside world emails [email protected], the mail arrives. But if the web server sends to the same email address, it fails every time. This is not a PHP problem. I secure shell in to the web server and have tested this both with sendmail and the UNIX mail application. I've also tested it by emailing various email accounts from the shell. I can email myself, for example, just nobody at the website.com domain. In short, when I'm logged in to website.com, mail to [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] all fail. All other addresses work fine. What I've discovered is those dropped emails are routed to the web server's "catchall" account where they sit in its inbox. I've done an MX lookup on website.com. The MX record points to mailsec.website.com. I can telnet to mailsec.website.com port 25 and see the SMTP server. It appears to me that website.com isn't doing an MX lookup when it's sending mail to [email protected]. My theory is that it recognizes the domain as local, sees that there's no "requests" user account to deliver it to, and drops the mail into the catchall account. What I want is to force sendmail to do the MX lookup and send the message on to the Exchange server. I'm at wit's end here. I can't figure out how to do this. For that matter, I may be way off base here and have misdiagnosed this entirely. Internet mail and MX has always seemed a black art to me, and my ignorance is certainly showing in this question.

Basically, I want to be able to access the items from "items_last_week" and create a list of them - originally my plan was to have the 'thumbnail' on the left with the 'item' next to it, but from playing around with the SDK today it appears too difficult or impossible to achieve this, so I would be more than happy with just having the 'item' data from 'items_last_week' in the list. Coming from php I'm struggling to use any of the JSON libraries which are available to Java, as it appears to be much more than a line of code which I will need to deserialize (I think that's the right word) the JSON, and they all appear to require some form of additional class, apart from the JSONArray/JSONObject script I have which doesn't like the fact that items_last_week is nested (again, I think that's the JSON terminology) and takes an awful long time to run on the Android emulator. So, in effect, I need a (preferably simple) way to pass the items_last_week data to a ListView. I understand I will need a custom adapter which I can probably get my head around but I cannot understand, no matter how much of the day I've just spent trying to figure it out, how to access certain parts of a JSON string..

    Hi, I'm trying to create "imagemaps" on an image in wpf using codebehind.     I am trying to calculate the necessary sample size for a 2x2 factorial design. I have two questions. 1) I am using the package pwr and the one way anova function to calculate the necessary sample size using the following code pwr.anova.test(k = , n = , f = , sig.level = , power = ) However, I would like to look at two way anova, since this is more efficient at estimating group means than one way anova. There is no two-way anova function that I could find. Is there a package or routine in [R] to do this? 2) Moreover, am I safe in assuming that since I am using a one-way anova power calculations, that the sample size will be more conservative (i.e. larger)?

  • How to lock non-browser clients from submitting a request?

    I want to block non-browser clients from accessing certain pages / successfully making a request. The website content is served to authenticated users. What happens is that our user gives his credentials to our website to 3rd party - it can be another website or a mobile application - that performs requests on his behalf. Say there is a form that the user fills out and sends a message. Can I protect this form so that the server processing the submission can tell whether the user has submitted it directly from the browser or not? I don't want to use CAPTCHA for usability reasons. Can I do it with some javascript?

  • Converting String^ and Collection of String^ to const char*

    Using VS2008 Managed C++ to wrap a dll. The native method takes a series of single const char* values and a collection of char* values. Going to make an example function: Function1(char * value1, TF_StringList& catList); TF_StringList is a dll class with 3 insert methods, the one I want to use is: TF_StringList::insert(const char* str); So I set up a wrapper method of: WrapperClass::callFunction(String^ mvalue1, ArrayList mcatList); mvalue1 is converted to const char* using: const char* value1 = (char*)(Marshal::StringToHGlobalAnsi(mvalue1)).ToPointer(); However, when a get to the collection of strings, I iterate over it getting each string using the index: String^ mstr = mcatList[i]; Have tried every way of converting String^ to const char* and in every case the TF_StringList::insert(const char* str) method throws a C2663 error which has to do with the const-ness of the value. What is the problem?

  • PHP in Wordpress Posts - Is this okay?

    I've been working with some long lists of information and I've come up with a good way to post it in various formats on my wordpress blog posts. I installed the exec-PHP plugin, which allows you to run php in posts. I then created a new table (NEWTABLE) in my wordpress database and filled that table with names, scores, and other stuff. I was then able to use some pretty simple code to display the information in a wordpress post. Below is an example, but you could really do whatever you wanted. My question is - is there a problem with doing this? with security? or memory? I could just type out all the information in each post, but this is really much nicer.     Hi there, I have a question regarding CSMA/CD in the IEEE 802.3 LAN standard. I'm trying to understand the behavior of CSMA/CD after a station has captured the channel. Say station A has captured the channel and has an infinite supply of frames it is sending. Also assume that station B has something it wants to send. Now, if I understand correctly, station B senses the line and sees that station A has captured the channel/is transmitting. My question is, does station B see the channel as being captured for the duration of ALL of the frames that station A sends (an infinite period of time), or does station B only consider the channel captured for the first frame it sees A send, after which B goes ahead and transmits its own frame (which will collide with one of the remaining frames still coming from A)?

  • Unit testing that an event is raised in C#, using reflection

    I want to test that setting a certain property (or more generally, executing some code) raises a certain event on my object. In that respect my problem is similar to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/248989/unit-testing-that-an-event-is-raised-in-c, but I need a lot of these tests and I hate boilerplate. So I'm looking for a more general solution, using reflection. The delegate should do nothing except invoke incrementer. Because of all the syntactic syrup in C#, my notion of how delegates and events really work is a bit hazy. How to do this?

    I'm using MVC4 forms auth. My mobile web app runs in full screen UIwebview on iphone. I have a home screen icon for my mobile web app. The app needs to launch external links. Those launch in Safari, which works fine. However returning to the mobile web app by clicking again on the home screen icon, seems to have logged the user out. Ideally I want the user to remain logged into the web app after viewing the external links in Safari. Maybe the cookie got deleted? Can I persist the cookie?

    Hi, Just need a little kickstart with this. I have Mysql/PHP, and I have 5,000 products. I have 30 companies I need to store some data for those 30 companies for each product as follows: a) prices b) stock qty I also need to store data historically on a daily basis. So the table... It makes sense that the records will be the products because there's 5000, and if I put the companies as the columns, I can store the prices, but what about the stock quantities? I could create two columns for each compoany, one for prices, one for qty. Then make the tablename the date for that day...so theer would be a new table for every day with 5000 products in it? is this the correct way? Some idea on how I'll be retreiving data the top 5 lowest prices (and the company) by product for a certain date the price and stock changes in the past 7 days by product

  • PowerShell script to restart a service

    My mission is to press a keyboard sequence, such as Ctrl +Shift +R, to restart a Windows Service. I have a script which works fine in the PowerShell ISE, when launched with administrative privileges. When I try with a PowerShell script it fails due to insufficient Administrative Privileges. It’s galling that I can get it to work with an old-fashioned bat file, but not PowerShell. The root of the problem is that shortcuts to a PowerShell script have their Administrative privileges box greyed out. So far no work-around has overcome this privilege problem. Any ideas?
