  • ETW tracking from .net, user mode and driver

    Hi everyone, We have an application that parts of it are in .net, c++ usermode and C++ drivers. The application is divided into several executables that run on demand and communication with each other using LPC(the processes run in different sessions(winlogon)). Currently We have a home written logging service to which .net and c++ usermode communicate by sending LPC messages. The driver uses DbgPrint and is not always enabled, as it causes the code to run 30% slower(we have lots of logging). I want to have all the logs written in one place and preferably not writing the logger myself(I love log4cpp and log4net). The requirement is to write from all the executables and drivers into one place and to have minimal overhead. I have read that ETW is way to go, however I wasn't able to find already written logger that uses it like log4cpp or log4net. So basically my questions is, do you know if there is already implemented ETW appender for log4cpp and log4net I can use ?

  • read url in binary mode in java

    In java I need to read a binary file from a site and write it to a disk file. This example http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/networking/urls/readingURL.html could read webpages succesfully, but when I try to read a binary file from my localhost server and write it to a disk file the contents change, corrupting the binary file. Using fc I see that 0x90 is changed to 0x3F and other changes. How do I acess the binary files (read url and write to file) without java or anything else changing ANY characters, like doing any newline conversions or character conversions or anything else, simply reading input url and writing it out as a file.

As you can see, for the third tab, i am loading remotely through a feature built into jquery ui tabs where you just put a link in and it retrieves it remotely.   • Can I use ido-completing-read instead of completing-read everywhere?

    I'm a big fan of ido-mode, so much so that I would like to use it for things like describe-function or find-tag and so on, without having to write something like in "Can I get ido-mode-style completion for searching tags in Emacs?" for each one. Both (defalias completing-read ido-completing-read) and (setf 'completing-read 'ido-completing-read) don't work, at least partly because ido-completing-read calls completing-read in its body, so any simple redefinition would result in infinite recursion. In theory, it should be possible, since the first line of the docstring for ido-completing-read is "Ido replacement for the built-in completing-read." I've looked around a bit and can't seem to find anyone else who has attempted or succeeded at it. I realize that Icicles [2] probably provides something like this, and I may end up going with that anyway, but it is a bit more of a plunge than I care to take right now. Thanks for any help.

    Win32 Virtual listviews (LVS_REPORT view) created with the LVS_OWNERDATA style are supposed not to scroll when LVSICF_NOSCROLL is used in the LVM_SETITEMCOUNT message or ListView_SetItemCountEx macro, according the MSDN documentation. However, this doesn't seem work, and the list-view scrolls regardless of the use of LVSICF_NOSCROLL. In these sorts of cases, 99% of the time it is something I have done incorrectly or overlooked. But, I've now run out of options. Have I missed something?

    I am trying to make this landscape only iphone app. I only use this code for this purpose: - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight); } However when I click clip subviews checkbox from interface builder, the view is clipped from the middle. I also don't receive any touch events from outside of view bounds obviously. - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { CGPoint fingerPos = [[touches anyObject] locationInView:self.view]; NSLog(@"%f %f",fingerPos.x,fingerPos.y); } only prints for coordinates between 20 and 320 for X. But Y works fine. When i try to modify bounds by hand, everything works fine; View is positioned and shown correctly, printed coordinates are correct, I receive touch from all of the screen except between 0 and 20 for X. So Left side of the screen is unresponsive to touch events for only 20 pixels. Code I use to modify bounds: self.view.bounds = CGRectMake(-180.0f, 0.0f, 680.0f, 480.0f); What might be causing this? Weird!

  • h2 (embedded mode ) database files problem

    There is a h2-database file in my src directory (Java, Eclipse): h2test.db The problem: starting the h2.jar from the command line (and thus the h2 browser interface on port 8082), I have created 2 tables, 'test1' and 'test2' in h2test.db and I have put some data in them; when trying to access them from java code (JDBC), it throws me "table not found exception". A "show tables" from the java code shows a resultset with 0 rows. Also, when creating a new table ('newtest') from the java code (CREATE TABLE ... etc), I cannot see it when starting the h2.jar browser interface afterwards; just the other two tables ('test1' and 'test2') are shown (but then the newly created table 'newtest' is accessible from the java code). I'm inexperienced with embedded databases; I believe I'm doing something fundamentally wrong here. My assumption is, that I'm accessing the same file - once from the java app, and once from the h2 console-browser interface. I cannot seem to understand it, what am I doing wrong here?

    I am trying here to do a manual translation for the application I am working with. (There is already a working LocalizationModule but it's working dodgy, so I can't use <asp:Localize /> tags. Normally with ResourceManager you are supposed to be using it as Namespace.Folder.Resourcename (in an application). Currently I am translating an existing asp.net "website" (not web application so no namespace here....). The resources are located into a folder name "Locales/resources" which contains "fr-ca.resx" and "en-us.resx".   • emacs: force ido-mode to forget history...

    Hi, I wonder if I can keep ido from not remembering my history and only show completions for files that are in the current directory when I am searching for a file. I understand that this history feature is useful at times, but I often end up editing the incorrect file because I think I am editing file called 'abc.txt' in the current directory but in fact I am editing the file by the same name in another one that I previously visited (often happens when there is not an 'abc.txt' in the current directory, as I mistakenly assume). From reading the ido.el file I thought to set in my .emacs file (also evaluated these expressions in running emacs instance): (custom-set-variables '(ido-enable-last-directory-history nil) '(ido-record-commands nil) ) and deleted a file called .ido.last in ~/, but still it remembers some previous files I've visited before making these changes. How can I purge my previous history, and I am not entirely sure what the difference between the two variables above are but seems to have done the trick to keep ido from remembering files I visit in the future?   • Epoll in EPOLLET mode returning 2 EPOLLIN before reading from the socket

    The epoll manpage says that a fd registered with EPOLLET(edge triggered) shouldn't notify twice EPOLLIN if no read has been done. So after an EPOLLIN you need to empty the buffer before epoll_wait being able to return a new EPOLLIN on new data. However I'm experiencing problems with this approach as I'm seeing duplicated EPOLLIN events for untouched fds.   • Hard link not works under MacOS in GUI mode

    Hi, i faced a little strange behavior, while using hard links. From terminal, i create a text file 1.txt and a hard link "to this file" nano 1.txt mkdir dir ln 1.txt ./dir/ I check the resulting hard link and see, that it's contents is the same, as of "original" file. less ./dir/1.txt I change the initial file ... nano 1.txt ... and see, that changes was reflected in hard-link less ./dir/1.txt I change content of hard-link (more correct, of course - file, being referenced with hard-link) ... nano ./dir/1.txt ... and see, that changes are reflected in initial file less 1.txt Until now, all going well... Now, I close terminal and start playing with created files (1.txt and ./dir/1.txt) from Finder. When i change on this two files with TextEdit, changes are not reflected in another file. Just like the hard link was teared off... Whats going on here ?

    As a new .net/C# web begginner, I always get tripped up when I try to use FindControl. Blam -flat on my face. The only way Ive used FindControl is something like: label thumbnailUploadLabel = DataList1.FindControl("thumbnailUploadLabel") as Label; But of course this is throwing the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error. Any help is very much appreciated. (I've also seen the 'recursive' code out there that is supposed to make using FindControl easier. Ha!   • Hudson interactive mode:- Is there one?

    I'm pretty new to hudson build system. I currently have my builds run from combination of perl/cgi scripts, with ability to start from a browser. What I need is an ability in hudson to checkout a file from perforce (can do that), parse that file (i can write a script for this) and based on the result of the parse give the user ability to choose various different options on what to build (compile). Is this possible? I'm not sure if I should tie together couple of different projects to do this or not? Any ideas on this could be achieved would be very helpful.

  • FolderDialog Box Crashing Only in Debug Mode VSD2008

    I have a folderBrowseDialog box in an application. It has been working for a month. Lately when I run the project from VS 2008 and I click on a button that opens the box the command ShowDialog() runs. The browser box shows up for a second and then I get "Windows encountered a problem box". Now here is the interest thing, if I compile the project, whether it be in the Debug or Release profile, and navigate to the exe, everything runs fine. Has anyone have this issue before? I can post the details of the error report if it helps. Mike

  • emacs: Inferior-mode python-shell appears "lagged"

    Hi all - I'm a Python(3.1.2)/emacs(23.2) newbie teaching myself tkinter using the pythonware tutorial found here. Relevant code is pasted below the question. Question: when I click the Hello button (which should call the say_hi function) why does the inferior python shell (i.e. the one I kicked off with C-c C-c) wait to execute the say_hi print function until I either a) click the Quit button or b) close the root widget down? When I try the same in IDLE, each click of the Hello button produces an immediate print in the IDLE python shell, even before I click Quit or close the root widget. Is there some quirk in the way emacs runs the Python shell (vs. IDLE) that causes this "lagged" behavior? I've noticed similar emacs lags vs. IDLE as I've worked through Project Euler problems, but this is the clearest example I've seen yet. FYI: I use python.el and have a relatively clean init.el... (setq python-python-command "d:/bin/python31/python") is the only line in my init.el.     While reskining GridView (ListView with more columns), I ran into a problem, that I couldn't change the color of the Highlighted row. I searched the internet and found out, that adding this can help. <SolidColorBrush x:Key="{x:Static SystemColors.HighlightBrushKey}" Color="Transparent" /> <SolidColorBrush x:Key="{x:Static SystemColors.ControlBrushKey}" Color="Transparent" /> This solved the issue for some people but it didnt help me. The Highlight color was still in system default. I finally managed to change the color of the selected row, but the highlight is still visible around the border of the row plus i need to get rid of the Highlight in the ColumnHeaders.   • How to play sounds in locked mode on iPhone

    Everybody knows the standard procedure to keep your app alive, after the user pressed the lock button (silent sound). If I start a sound with AVAudioPlayer (before the iphone is locked), the sound plays till it's end (after locking). The app is still running. If I try to start another sound while the iPhone is locked, it will never get played. All the other things work as well but the sound doesn't. How can I play a sound while the iphone is locked?
