• BackTrack5 R2 video driver works, but presents disturbing error message

  I've installed backtrack 5 R2 on my computer and everything works fine but the video driver. The solution described here does work, but whenever I start the graphics mode, a message saying that the graphics card doesn't support the configuration that is loaded. I don't know why this is happening. It doesn't change the performance of my computer, but I'd like to know why the message is arising, and what I can do to stop it. Alternatively, where can I find the configuration file that would help me understand what's going on?

• Toshiba eStudio 281c turn off snmp in driver.

  I have a customer with an eStudio 281c colour copier/printer and I'm having an issue with terminal services. Basically, the driver has the ability to query the printer for its configuration over snmp. I've set it to manual rather than auto so it's effectively switched off. Trouble is, when logging into terminal services it's still trying to communicate with the printer. This is an issue because when it fails it then defaults to being a different printer model with a different tray configuration. Users can still print but the settings are wrong. Any ideas?

My computer is an HP Pavilion Entertainment dv5 notebook, which came with Vista 64. I would like confirmation about which of the drivers I should use. At this point, I'm leaning towards Broadcom BCM4318 HP Pavilion zv6000, but I thought it best to ask advice before taking action.   I'm tring to install NetLimiter 3 (3.0.0.10, x64) on my Windows 7 x64 machine. At the driver installation step, I'm getting an error: Error 0x8004a029: Couldn't install the network component. (InstallNdisIMDriver) UPDATE 2010-09-20: I received a response to my support request: Hi Simon, It seems that problem is rather on your system than in NL3. Too many networking applications (VPN, Virtual computers) are installed on your machine and they are preventing NL3 from proper installation. In order to install NetLimiter 3, try to disable/temporarily remove these apps. Several users had the same problem and shuffling with adapter and networking software helped them.   Hi the problem is xp doesn't have built in drivers for my printer but vista does. On vista it works perfectly without any issues. However when I try using xp, it insists that I select a driver from the selection xp offers by default. The drivers I've downloaded from HP don't support networking. Hp have stated they're non networkable. Is there anything I can do about this? Any help is greatly appreciated and would save me getting ear ache!

  I'm trying to install a graphics driver in a laptop with Windows 7 but the setup fails with a timeout. I checked the setup log but it does not include any details about the .inf installation. It only shows the error code, which I searched only to find what I already knew (timeout error, no more details) I also checked the .inf file, but it has hundreds of lines so it's hard to guess which step is failing. So I'm wondering, is there some procedure to debug a .inf file? Like, having a detailed log of what happened after executing each line of the .inf Thanks!

• Windows XP not able to boot after loading isapnp.sys driver

  Hi When i power on my DELL Latitude E6400 laptop running on Windows XP SP3, i get a black screen and hangs after that. So I tried to boot through safe mode which hangs after loading the driver isapnp.sys. Doing a bit of googling i found out Windows XP not booting up including safe mode So I loaded my XP boot cd and tried Recovery Console. In the Recovery console, doing "dir" gives the error "an error occurred during directory enumeration". Then i tried chkdsk /p /r which gave "the volume appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems" How can i fix these please. Thanks in advance.

• Windows 8 - Synaptics driver - Mouse keeps freezing

  I have Win-8 Pro installed on my Dell XPS. This has Synaptic PS/2 Port TouchPad. As I upgraded the Laptop from Win7 to Win8 all my factory Mouse software (along with other preinstalled software) was all deleted. So for the mouse, I installed Windows 8/7/XP/Vista 64/32-bit Edition v16.3.15.1. Problem - every few seconds (or minutes at times), the mouse freezes. Windows is still working, it's just the mouse. I have to wait 5-15 seconds before the mouse works again. I thought this was because the Synaptic Driver I am installing is not Win-8 compatible but this is not the case. It seems the mouse freezes when Windows is working, loading or opening new programs/windows. I have the same problem in my other Laptop which has upgraded Win8 pro. This is a Dell Studio. What's causing this?

• Windows 7 unload driver/disconnect usb before restart

  In xp, my Tascam US 122 usb audio interface works fine. On my windows 7 computer the device works, however when i restart/shutdown it hangs at the "shutting down" screen forever. If the usb cable is removed prior to initiating restart/shutdown then everything goes fine, the computer restarts as normal. This is a known problem, running any other driver in compatibility mode doesnt fix the problem. Is there a method I can use to unload the device/drivers so that I dont have to reach round physically and disconnect the cable. Somebody suggested a spdt switch on the cable itself, but I am looking for a simpler method. Surely I can automate the unloading of the device through a script or such? Any ideas are greatly welcomed thanks

  I recently had to reformat my entire drive and reinstall Windows 7. Something that bothers me is that when I was downloading the Intel Rapid Start driver (I have a Lenovo Ideapad Y480, and it comes standard with the Rapid Start) and tried to install it, the installer claimed that my system did not meet the requirements in order to install, when it was previously installed by the OEM. My startup times have increased from 21 seconds to log-in screen to 50 seconds. Please help... • Will Windows Barf on Constant Video Driver Overwrite?

  So, I've got a Win7 64-bit gaming PC with GTX 260's. Recently, StarCraft 2 had an issue with flickering, which NVidia fixed with a new set of drivers. However, these new drivers induce unplayable graphical errors with Neverwinter Nights 2, something me and my friends still play from time to time. I am seeking advice on the "best" way to rectify this situation, to be able to switch between two driver releases, without compromising the stability of my system (if Windows stability isn't an oxymoron). I'm wondering if Windows 7 is structured in such a way that I can constantly reinstall these two sets of drivers back and forth overtop each other, possibly six or eight times a day, without very quickly driving myself to reformat to maintain that "just like new" performance. I'm loathe to have to reformat the drive and maintain two copies of the operating system, but I'll do it if I have to.

  I've got a custom-built PC with these specs: Fractal Design Define R3 ASUS P8Z77-V motherboard Intel Core i7-2700k with Thermalright HR-02 Macho Cooler NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 with Arctic Cooling Accelero Twin Turbo II Cooler Crucial M4 128 GB SSD 1 TB Hitachi HDD G.SKILL Ares Series 2x8 GB RAM (x2) SeaSonic 520W PSU Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (x64) NVIDIA driver version 301.42 Upon building the PC, I overclocked the CPU (but never the GPU), and there were no problems for 1-2 months. Then I started getting crashes with this error when doing anything that's computationally or graphically intensive: I un-overclocked the CPU, but that hasn't fixed anything. This is what the inside of my case looks like: I'd appreciate any guidance on resolving this problem. I did get some of the thermal paste on the graphics card when installing the aftermarket cooler, but there were no issues for a month or two. Update I did a clean install and the issue persisted - looks like it's a hardware issue. I will try removing/cleaning/reseating all the parts.

  I recently built a pc with an ATI Radeon HD 5750. I have installed Fedora 11 and installed the device driver for the Radeon 5700 series proprietary drivers. I wanted to see if there is graphics hardware acceleration. I typed in glxinfo at the terminal and I got: X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation) Major opcode of failed request: 135 (GLX) Minor opcode of failed request: 19 (X_GLXQueryServerString) Serial number of failed request: 14 Current serial number in output stream: 14 I don't know how to fix this. I tried to go to the ATI Catalyst Control Center; that worked, but the ATI Catalyst Control Center (Administrator) doesn't work. If anyone knows how to fix this problem then please let me know. • Driver proboems for SH-S203N Samsung DVD drive

  My father jsut bought me a dvd burner Samsung SH-S202N OEM and installed it into my computer. The drive seems to be able to burn media fine. But when it comes to reading dvd's, audio cd's, it just skips. It can read them it is just skipping so badly to the point where the dvd's are unwatchable and cd's skip rather bad. I am looking for the latest firmware or driver for the Samsung SH-S202N OEM. Any advice? Thanks in advance. :)

  I've got a HP LaserJet 1020 printer connected to my 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate machine. I'm sharing this printer out. Got another 64-bit Windows 7 machine, with Home Premium. I installed the printer driver from HP for 64-bit on both machines. However, the strange thing is that if the Home Premium machine prints something, it never comes out unless I reboot the Ultimate machine. This is less than optimal. Any idea what's causing this and if there's anything I can do about it?

  Hi, I'm trying to print out raw ascii data to a thermal printer. I do this by using this code example: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322091 but my printer prints always only one character and this not until I press the form feed button. If I print something with notepad the printer will do a form feed automatically but without printing any text. The printer is connected via usb over a lpt2usb adapter and Windows 7 uses the "Generic - Generic / Text Only" driver. Anyone knows what is going wrong? How is it possible to print some words and do some form feeds? Are there some control characters I have to send? And if yes: How do I send them? Thanks!

  My problem is pretty much a duplicate of the one described in USB mouse late to load , but the solution there has not worked for me. I'm running the same OS and experiencing the exact same issue. It disappears after 10 seconds or so.   We've created a flow chart using Visio that has multiple layers. (The background is that each layer represents variations on a basic process.) Now we want to be able to print each layer individually. Currently this involves lots of clicking to select the correct layer and and then press print - then repeating this for each of the 10 layers. Is there a simpler way? E.g. define each layer once and use a "print each layer" tool / macro?

  Hello, I'm curious, whether there is any way to print formated numpy.arrays, e.g., in the way similar to this: x = 1.23456 print '%.3f' % x If I want to print the numpy.array of floats, it prints several decimals, often in 'scientific' format, which is rather hard to read even for low-dimensional arrays. However, numpy.array apparently has to be printed as a string, i.e., with %s. Is there any solution ready for this purpose? Many thanks in advance :-)
