  • How does session_start lock in PHP?

    Originally, I just want to verify that session_start locks on session. So, I create a PHP file as below. Basically, if the pageview is even, the page sleeps for 10 seconds; if the pageview is odd, it doesn't. And, session_start is used to obtain the page view in $_SESSION. I tried to access the page in two tabs of one browser. It is not surprising that the first tab takes 10 seconds since I explicitly let it sleep. The second tab would not sleep, but it should be blocked by sessiont_start. That works as expected. To my surprise, the output of the second page shows that session_start takes almost no time. Actually, the whole page seems takes no time to load. But, the page does take 10 seconds to show in browser. obtained lock Cost time: 0.00016689300537109 Start 1269739162.1997 End 1269739162.1998 allover time elpased : 0.00032305717468262 The page views: 101 Does PHP extract session_start out of PHP page and execute it before other PHP statements?   • Remote (RDP) utility with mstscax.dll

    I am looking for information on using mstscax.dll in VB. The goal is to create a utility that logs into a remote service in the same manner as remote desktop. However, my utility is not required to show the desktop. I have a series of commands that I will start off with that will look for users, reset logins, shadow, and message. I have been using a batch file on my RDP to perform these functions, but we are already looking for more functionality and power than what the batch commands can offer. I am googling 'mstscax.dll' but the results have been less than satisfactory although I continue to search. Does anyone have any good references? Is this even going to be possible?

  • MVC 3 Remote Validation jQuery error on submit

    I seem to have a weird issue with remote validation on my project. I am doing a simple validation check on an email field to ensure that it is unique. I've noticed that unless I put the cursor into the textbox and then remove it to trigger the validation at least once before submitting my form I will get a javascript error. e[h] is not a function jquery.min.js line 3 If I try to resubmit the form after the above error is returned everything works as expected. It's almost like the form tried to submit before waiting for the validation to return or something. Am I required to silently fire off a remote validation request on submit before submitting my form? Below is a snapshot of the code I'm using: (I've also tried GET instead of POST but I get the same result). As mentioned above, the code works fine but the form returns a jquery error unless the validation is triggered at least once.   • Embed remote desktop in browser

    I would like to embed a Remote Desktop session within my browser. I must use remote desktop because my clients can't install any additional software on the server. Here are some problems that I can already foresee: 1) I believe that I can embed an RDP ActiveX control, but then all I could support is IE. And even then, IE lockdown may forbid ActiveX controls. 2) I don't know anything about Apple computers, but I presume that they don't inherently run RDP? 3) I think there are ways to run RDP through a Java control. I don't have experience to know if this is a good or bad idea. I suppose that Java may even be disabled on some browsers, but don't know if this is a common case? So, what options have I got here to make this work reliably? I presume that I may need some default options (ie ActiveX), and then some fallback options (ie Java), and code to identify the correct option each time.

  • .Net Remote Log Querying

    I have a Win Service that I'm working on that consists of the service, WF Service (using WorkflowServiceHost), a Workflow (WorkflowApplication) that queries/processes data from a SQL Server DB, and a Comm Marshall class that handles data flow between the service and the WF. The WF does a lot of heavy data processing and the original app (early VB6) logged all the processing and displayed the results on the screen of the host machine. Critical events will be committed to eventlog because I strongly believe that should be common practice because admins naturally will look there and because it already has support for remote viewing. The workflow will also need to write logging events as it processes and iterates according to our business logic. Such as: records queried, records returned, processed records, etc. The data is very critical and we need to log actions as they occur. The logs are currently kept as text files on disk and I think that is ok. Ideally I would like to record log events in XML so it's easier to query and because it is less costly than a DB, especially since our DB servers do a lot of heavy processing anyways. Since we are replacing essentially a VB6 application with a robust windows service (taking advantage of WF 4.0), it has been requested that a remote client also be created. It receives callbacks from the service after subscribing to it and being added to a collection of subscribers. Basic statistics and summaries are updated client side after receiving basic monitoring data of what is going on with the service. We would like to also provide a way to provide details when we need to examine what is going on further because this is a long running data processing service and issues need to be addressed immediately. What is the best way to implement some type of query from the client that is sent to the service and returned to the client? Would it be efficient to implement another method to expose on the service and then have that pass that off to some querying class/object to examine the XML files by whichever specification and then return it to the client? That's the main concern. I don't want the service to processing to bottleneck much while this occurs. It seems that WF already auto-magically threads well for the most part but I want to make sure this is the right way to go about it. Any suggestions/recommendations on how to architect and implement a small log querying framework for a remote service would be awesome.

I keep current user id and user type in session and authenticate user from these session variables (say Session["UserId"],Session["UserName"] and Session["UserType"]) I do authentications. Please guide me how it is insecure ? I heard such security can be broken and applications can be hacked very easily, like it is possible to get session id and directly connect to that session id etc. Please guide me on this thanks

  • Looking for python lib to manage remote tasks

    Hi, I have server with django on it, this server runs some manage.py commands and update database. Now I need to move some of this tasks to different servers. I don't want to allow remote db access and need some tool\lib to be able to start task on remote servers by main server's command and update tasks code/add new tasks. I have ssh access to every server, all servers run under debian and all code in python. I was thiking about creating my own xmpp based solution(server sends messages to slave servers with commands to execute, like "update task", "run task"), or maybe some low-level ssh based solution where main server logs to slave servers and executes bash commands. But I would be happy to hear any advices.

  • NHibernate, and odd "Session is Closed!" errors

    Note: Now that I've typed this out, I have to apologize for the super long question, however, I think all the code and information presented here is in some way relevant. Okay, I'm getting odd "Session Is Closed" errors, at random points in my ASP.NET webforms application. Today, however, it's finally happening in the same place over and over again. I am near certain that nothing is disposing or closing the session in my code, as the bits of code that use are well contained away from all other code as you'll see below. I'm also using ninject as my IOC, which may / may not be important. Though it changed a few NHibernate mappings (I can post these too if anyone is interested) From as far as I can tell, BaseDao<SomeClass>.Get is called then BaseDao<SomeOtherClass>.Get is called then BaseDao<TypeImTryingToSave>.Save is called. it's the third call at the line in Save() using (var transaction = session.BeginTransaction()) that fails with "Session is Closed!" or rather the exception: Session is closed! Object name: 'ISession'. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.ObjectDisposedException: Session is closed! Object name: 'ISession'. And indeed following through on the Debugger shows the third time the session is requested from the SessionProvider it is indeed closed and not connected. I have verified that Dispose on my SessionFactoryProvider and on my SessionProvider are called at the end of the request and not before the Save call is made on my Dao. So now I'm a little stuck. A few things pop to mind. Am I doing anything obviously wrong? Does NHibernate ever close sessions without me asking to? Any workarounds or ideas on what I might do? Thanks in advance

    How often I see people look to VNC, NXMachine, RDP, etc to get a windowing environment on a remote system.  These products are great and I use them too, but there is a fancy feature in SSH to help. ssh –X remoteserver This is a great feature for hooking into headless VirtualBox machines and remote displaying an install wizard. The remote server must have some lines put in the /etc/ssh/sshd_conf file: X11Forwarding yes X11DisplayOffset 10 The second line is optional, but the first is required.  Restart sshd (sudo /etc/init.d/ssh restart). Now I can ssh –X remote server Then run /opt/app/wls10.3.4/wlserver_10.3/common/bin/config.sh to build a new domain. Note: For some reason, the jdk that comes with WebLogic often fails to work on the remote display.  In that case, I modify the config.sh to just use /usr/bin/java (from openjdk-6-jre package).

  • Syncing objects to a remote server, and caching on local storage

    What's the best method of sycing objects (as JSON) to a remote server, with local caching? I have some objects that will pretty much just be plain-text with some extra meta-data. I was thinking of perhaps including a "last modified date" for both Local storage and Remote storage. This could then be used to determine which object is the most recent. For example, even though objects will be saved to both local and remote when they are saved, sometimes the user may not have internet access, or the server may be down, or any other number of things. In this case, the last modified date for remote storage would be reverted to its previous date. Local storage would remain as it is. At this point, the user could exit the application, and when they reload the application would then look at the last modified dates of the local and remote storages, and decide. Is there anything I'm missing with this? Is there a better method that I could use?

    Hi im trying to use Remote Service btween two simple application, But its not easy to me. So any advice you have will help me. here`s my case. I made one app which is playing Music in service, There are two components. one is Activity controlling service by using three buttons, play,pause, stop. and it is working fine. and another one is just simple Activity which also has four buttons bind,play,stop,unbind. when i click bind, it`s confirmed by Toast msg, but when i click play button,it occurs error. i want to control first activitys Music playing service in second Activity. So im trying to use remote service. i made same .aidl file in each app project. In aidl file, i defined methods "playing","stoping" and i implement those methods in Music service class, implementation is simply use intent and startService & stopService. In DDMS there is "java.lang.SecurityException : Binder invocation to an incorrect interface" thats the case what im doing. So please tell me what`s the problem. any advice could help me. thanks Gun.

  • To implement a remote desktop sharing solution

    Hi, I'm on planning/modeling phase to develop a remote desktop sharing solution, which must be web browser based. In other words: an user will be able to see and interact with someone's remote desktop using his web-browser. Everything the user who wants to share his desktop will need, besides his browser, is installing an add-in, which he's going to be prompted about when necessary. The add-in is required since (afaik) no browser technology allows desktop control from an app running within the browser alone. The add-in installation process must be as simple and transparent as possible to the user (similar to AdobeConnectNow, in case anyone's acquainted with it). The user can share his desktop with lots of people at the same time, but concede desktop control to only one of them at a time(makes no sense being otherwise). Project requirements: All technology employed must be open-source license compatible Both front ends are going to be in flash (browser) Must work on Linux, Windows XP(and later) and MacOSX. Must work at least with IE7(and later) and Firefox3.0(and later). At the very least, once the sharer's stream hits the server from where it'll be broadcast, hereon it must be broadcasted in flv (so I'm thinking whether to do the encoding at the client's machine (the one sharing the desktop) or send it in some other format to the server and encode it there). Performance and scalability are important: It must be able to handle hundreds of dozens of users(one desktop sharer, the rest viewers) We'll definitely be using red5. My doubts concern mostly implementing the desktop publisher side (add-in and streamer): 1) Are you aware of other projects that I could look into for ideas?     I am trying to write a web widget which will allow users to display customized information (from my website) in their own web page. The mechanism I want to use (for creating the web widget) is javascript. So basically, I want to be able to write some javascript code like this (this is what the end user copies into their HTML page, to get my widget displayed in their page) <script type="text/javascript"> /* javascript here to fetch page from remote url and insert into DOM */ </script> I have two questions: how do I write a javascript code to fetch the page from the remote url? Ideally this will be PLAIN javascript (i.e. not using jQuery etc - since I dont want to force the user to get third party scripts jQuery which may conflict with other scripts on their page etc) The page I am fetching contains inline javascript, which gets executed in an body.onLoad event, as well as other functions which are used in response to user actions - my questions are: i). will the body.onLoad event be triggered for the retrieved document?. ii). If the retrieved page is dumped directly into the DOM, then the document will contain two <body> sections, which is no longer valid (X)HTML - however, I need the body.onLoad event to be triggered for the page to be setup correctly, and I also need the other functions in the retrieved page, for the retrieved page to be able to respond to the user interaction. Any suggestions/tips on how I can solve these problems?

  • How to diagnose remote assistance problem

    I have a long standing issue with remote assistance between a home and work PC. My wife and I both use MSN messenger and I used to be able to control her PC at home via MSN Remote Assistance. Some time ago however this stopped working and I don't know why. We're both running the latest versions of MSN Live Messenger and I've checked the appropriate firewall ports are open, but it still doesn't work and MSN just says something useless like "The person isn't responding". Any suggestions for how can I diagnose this? More info: I just tried direct Remote Desktop between work PC and home PC and it works fine - so I presume all the appropriate ports are open. Just Remote Assistance doesn't work. I'd like to get RA working so I can demonstrate how to do things remotely. With Remote Desktop the person at the other end gets booted off and can't see. With Remote Assistance they can follow along step by step. Some comments below suggest using other solutions, which is fine and do work, but there must be a way to diagnose RA and get it working. Experimenting with this some more, the notebook that I was using at work today that refused to connect works fine for remote assistance when I bring it home. So I guess this must be a problem with our network configuration at work. I've checked that 3389 is open on firewall on office router and remote desktop works both ways.... just not remote assistance. I've read that remote assitance won't work if client and server are both behind Non-UPnP/NAT routers. If one has UPnP it's supposed to work. Office router doesn't have UPnP enabled but my home one does. I've also scoured the event logs on both ends, nothing noteworthy - unless I'm looking in the wrong spot). Note (copied from comment): I've just tried ShowMyPC which is based on VNC and it works, but I'd still like to figure out what's wrong with RA - it's just bugging me. The question is only about Remote Assistance, no need to propose solutions based on other programs.[/edit by Gnoupi]

  • How to get remote firewall administration working with Windows Server Core 2008 R2?

    I'm setting up a Windows Server Core 2008 R2 installation in a VMware virtual machine before setting it up on a live VPS. I've gotten remote administration via MMC working on my computer (a PC running Windows 7) for things like event logs, but I can't seem to get the firewall administration working. No matter what I do, I get the following error mesage: You do not have the correct permissions to open the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security console. You must be a member of the Administrators group or the Network Operators group to perform this task. For more information, contact you system administrator. Error code: 0x5. I've used cmdkey to add valid server credentials on my computer, and enabled remote management with the following commands: netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="remote administration" new enable=yes netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="windows firewall remote management" new enable=yes netsh advfirewall set currentprofile settings remotemanagement enable I am not running on a domain (just a workgroup), this is the only Windows Server 2008 computer I have. I've tried turning off the firewall completely, but remote administration is still failing How do I debug this issue? Does anyone know how to fix it? I found a few forum topics about it (eg. Remotely managing Windows Firewall on Server Core gives access denied (error 0x5) on Windows Server TechCenter) but they didn't help (I've already tried most of the fixes listed).
