Failed to run service as console application This is the file I downloaded from apache: apache-tomcat-7.0.32-windows-x64.zip. I am able to successfully start tomcat on port 8080 as a standalong thing. Meaning I go to command prompt and type startup.bat and it starts up successfully. Question How can I resolve this and what are the things I should be troubleshooting for?

Cached Exchange Mode sounds interesting to me, but I'm wondering if we can take advantage of it without causing other issues. Where in the file system does the cached data get stored? Is it in the profile? A temp folder? Is the cached file secured in some way to keep others from seeing it?

  Google Chrome doesn't seem to respect my dpi-setting in Windows. i run at 150 dpi, but Chrome ignores that; meaning that images and text are teeeeeeny tiny. i hit Ctrl + + Ctrl + + to zoom in. Unfortunatly every new tab, or new window, defaults to the 100% teeny tiny zoom level. Is it possible for either: Chrome to respect my Windows dpi setting? Chrome to remember my zoom preference? • How do I set up an sftp user to login with a password to an EC2 ubuntu server ?

  Hello, I have an Ubuntu Server running on an EC2 instance. To login to that server I use a certificate file without any password. I've installed and configured vsftpd and created a user (let's call him "testuser") for which I've set a /bin/false ssh terminal so it will only be able to connect via sftp and upload/access files on his home directory. However - when I try to connect to the server from my computer, running sftp testuser@my-ec2-server I get Permission denied (publickey). Connection closed messages so I can't log in. How can I remove the certificate requirement for this user only (meaning, the "ubuntu" user will still have to use the certificate file to login via ssh), so normal sftp clients will be able to connect using a username and a password ? Thank you. PS Using Ubuntu Server 10.10 official AMI from canonical, 64bit on a micro instance.

  I add the hotspot the regular way. Yet it doesn't show up as available when I try to connect to it using my other Ubuntu laptop. And nothing can connect to it. Yesterday, I successfully made it work for 5 minutes and then it stopped without me changing any configuration. I've already tryed resetting the DNS. Edit: I've updated my Broadcom 802.11b/g driver to a generic but more recent version. I've also repaired the WMI, now the advanced tab of my primary connection is available and the hand meaning the connection is shared appeared. But the computers still connect the wrong way around. (Windows to ubuntu instead of ubuntu to windows) Reinstalled SP3...

  I'm using Mac OSX 10.6.8 and when I save things to the desktop, drop something there in Finder or take a screengrab with Cmd+Shift+3/4, it gets placed in the top-right corner. I tend to position my windows in a bottom-left to top-right diagonal fashion, meaning the top-right corner of the desktop is always covered, as such I'd rather that new things placed on the desktop appeared in the top-left, where there's a gap and I can get to them easily. Is it possible to adjust the "default" corner items are placed in on the Desktop? And if so, how would I go about doing so?

• Have 3 Monitors Display the same thing? (WinXP)

  I have a setup in which there is a Computer running windows XP, with 3 monitors plugged into it, with a "Matrox Millennium P750" Graphics card. What I want is to enable mirroring of ALL THREE MONITORS, meaning I want all the monitors to display the same image. In Matrox Powerdesk, it does not have an option to do this, and I'm pretty sure that Windows XP does not support it nativley. I really should only need some software/drivers, right? What can i do to display the same thing on 3 screens?

• Computer prints blank pages before and after content

  This would seem like a pretty simple question but I have exhausted every idea I can come up with. I bought a brand new Dell Latitude E5410 not too long ago with Windows 7 OS. I installed office 2010 on the machine right away and have had a printing problem since day one. For some reason every time I print a page, a blank page prints out before and after the content print. This also applies to any other application such as notepad or printing an email. If I have a 6 page document, it still prints out one page before and after every content page. Meaning I get my 6 page document along with 12 blank pages. I can't figure out why this would be some sort of default setting or what would cause this printing configuration. I am the only computer on the network that has this problem and quite frankly I'm getting tired of it. Can anyone help me figure this out or steer me in the right direction to correcting this problem?

  how is latency affected when multiple domains are using one single static IP address ? The scenario is in shared web-hosting By latency meaning the DNS lookup the client has to do. As far as I understand it, the browser would hit the root servers to try to figure out the IP Address and it belongs where and then when it comes to the correct server, it probably looks up some sort of table to determine which site names much and show that site as such via browser to the user. Is my understanding correct or backwards or what ?

  Should USB controller drivers be updated? In Windows 7, many of the core system devices/buses/controllers still use stock Microsoft drivers dating back to 2006 -- things such as USB controllers and the PCI bus (and subsequent devices in the tree). Should these be getting updated? I would think that surely there would have been improvements/fixes/updates to some or any of these drivers by now, now over 7 years old. Does Windows know "best" in this case, updating these respective drivers when it's needed, or should the user be keeping an eye out for drivers in this "vein" of devices (meaning integrated/core/non-pluggable system devices that are built into the motherboard)?

• Synergy and Screensaver Sync

  Hi, I've been using Synergy for some time now to sync an Ubuntu machine and a Windows XP box, and it works really great. The one issue that still lingers is screensaver syncing. Meaning, that if, for example, the Linux box's screensaver is activate or deactivated, the Windows machine's screensaver follows suite. I've tried uninstalling the Gnome screen saver and also tried a different session altogether (e.g. xfce), but nothing seems to work. I've attached my configuration bellow. What else can I try? • Is there a program that compares image files and reports if they are exactly the same pixel-wise?

  I'm making a regression testing suite for some rendering software. I need to be able to load an image file (PNG or TGA, ideally) and compare the pixel values to a standard approved image. I'd like it to be command line driven too, so I can make a batch file to run all the tests. All the compare utilities I have found so far either show differences (I just need it to fail if they are different) or compare all the bytes, meaning that meta-data will trigger a fail. Anyone got any suggestions? I am not a coder, and can only barely cobble a batch script together. Thanks for any suggestions.

• Browsing not working in Windows 8

  I'm using Windows 8 Professional installed on Windows 7 using the "Save my preferences and apps" installation option. The Windows works great, apps are downloading and I can listen to online radio stations using the TuneIn radio app meaning the internet connection is alive, however, when I open a browser (either Chrome or IE10) and try to browse the internet, I'm getting an "Unable to resolve DNS" error message. Prior to installing the internet browsing worked flawlessly I must say. I'm using ESET NOD32 Antivirus so I suspect that it might interfere with the web connection now, but I'm not so sure. Internet options show that the PC is set to resolve the DNS automatically. I don't know what to do. My other Win7 PCs in my wifi home network are connecting to the internet without any issues. If anyone can help me resolve this I'll be grateful :) Thanks

• This is probably a horrible idea; putting a Mac Mini in a mini-fridge [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Putting servers inside a refrigerator? Just moved to a new house and had to place my Mac Mini server in the attic. Now this is really nice and cool at this time of the year, but during summer it's going to get blistering hot up there, meaning I have to find a solution that won't kill my Mac Mini and the two WD external drives I have connected to it. Is there any good reason why I couldn't just buy a mini-fridge and put them inside that? The only thing I can think of is condensation building up, but I have no idea if that will be an issue or not. Something like this. And yes, I'm pretty sure this is a terrible idea, but I figured it was worth mentioning here and getting some feedback. What other options are there?

  I have a Wordpress installation in a seperate folder on my server (meaning it is not in the root folder). I have a htaccess rewrite rule that maps Domain A to folder A. Inside folder A is the Wordpress admin folder, let's call it folder A.B. I tried mapping Domain B to folder A.B., but I can't get it to work properly. When you log in to Wordpress via /admin, you get redirected to /wp-login.php (so from folder A.B. to folder A), maybe that is where I get into trouble. So what I would like to do is this: Domain A folder A Domain B folder A.B Note that this is not for security purposes, I just like the idea of www.domainb.com instead of www.domaina.com/wp-admin. Can this be done with Wordpress?

I have a few hints to think that it is not: The "Desktop Effects" will not load Apps such as stardock, when attempting to use OpenGL rendering, will display black boxes instead of transparency In the games Pioneers, the number-tile icons are suspiciously just black circles Windows games running with Wine will only support software rendering, not hardware rendering When I boot into a Knoppix LiveCD, the desktop effects do work, splendidly, meaning compiz detects my computer as capable. My problem with troubleshooting is that Canonical has basically eliminated the conf-file-based mechanism of X11 as far as I can tell, thus making it even harder to ensure graphics modules are loading properly.   For over 10 years, I've been using this strategy to copy a large number of files between UNIX filesystems: cd source_directory find . -depth -print | cpio -pdm /path/to/destination_directory It works like a champ. However, I'm now getting this error from cpio: cpio: WARNING! These file names were not selected: (long list of files here...) The source directory is on OSX 10.5, and the destination directory is a NFS filesystem from an OpenSolaris server. Copying over NFS has never been a problem in the past. There's nothing strange about the filenames, meaning there aren't special characters or anything like that. Any ideas?

  We need to build out a server running Windows 2008 R2 Standard that can allow up to 10 simultaneous RDP/Terminal Services connections and I'm a little confused about how the CAL licenses work. From one source I was told I needed 10 "server CALs" and an additional 10 "RDP CALs" (total of 20 CALs). From another, I was told I just needed the 10 "RDP CALs", which implicitly came with the server CAL. The Microsoft licensing website (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/licensing-rds.aspx) seems to support scenario #1, but it is still not real clear what those server CALs are needed for. Also, can we use the 2 "built-in" RDP clients, meaning we only need to purchase 8 CALs to reach a total of 10?

• Positive result, negative result and current balance. How do you make starting balance show current result?

  I have 3 columns. Column A shows positive result and if the result is negative then it is in a column B. Column B shows negative result and if the result is positive then it is in a column A. (meaning that either columns can have 0.00 in the cell (empty zero cells)). Column C has starting assets and it also shows the current balance that while result A or B are adding up and current balance is showing the current result. What is the proper formula for this I hope I was clear with my problem. Please help. Thanks in advance!
