Problem is that the JSON data that I am getting from the service includes "-" and when I am trying to read it, I am getting "Uncaught ReferenceError: person is not defined ". e.g. I have below JSON object- var JSONObject ={ "name-person":"John Johnson", "street":"Oslo West 16", "age":33, "phone":"555 1234567"}; when I am writing below console log statement I am getting "Uncaught ReferenceError: person is not defined " error console.log(JSONObject.name-person); Can someone please help me how to read such data which includes "-" in it? I do not have control on the service and the DB so to modify source data is not in my hand.

  Hi, Does anyone know of a very basic tag JQuery script? (Facebook like tag feature) All I want to do is when I type @ in a text box for it to search an AJAX search, it then brings back a display name i.e. "Bob Johnson" and an associated Id and stores the Id in a comma delimited list. So an example would be the following .... [TextArea] [Name 1] [Name 2] [Name 3] The thing is it also needs to remove this entry (Id) once the tag gets removed, also it needs to load into a DIV which has a scrollbar so that the list doesn't get to big. If anyone know's how/if this is possible that would be great. Thanks.

  I'm using amazon japan, using ItemLookup. We already have the EAN numbers (used as ItemId). It was working well until we need to modify the SalesRank. The previous SalesRank returned is for the whole SearchIndex, ex: Books, Music, etc. What we want is to get the SalesRank for a specific BrowseNode. I don't know but it seems that it is not implemented on Amazon US. For example: http: // www . amazon . com / Slackware-Essentials-Cantrell-Johnson-Lumens/dp/1571763384/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1276142663&sr=1-1 The book above only shows the SalesRank (Bestsellers Rank) but on Japan Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.jp/Slackware-Linux-Dummies/dp/0764506897/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=english-books&qid=1276142708&sr=1-4 It shows SalesRank for other three different BrowseNodes. • BI Publisher - Hottest Show in Vegas

  Two days down, two to go. Monday was a very busy and rewarding day. Attended "XML Publisher and FSG for Beginners" given by Susan Behn and Alyssa Johnson from Solution Beacon. It was packed, standing room only ... even though it was at 8:00 am. Later in the afternoon, despite being at the same time and in conflict with other Publisher related sessions, Noelle's session, "The Reporting Platform for Applications: Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher" and my session, "Introduction to Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher" were both very well attended. Immediately following our presentations we ran the BI Publisher Hands On Lab which was great fun. The turnout was so large that unfortunately we could not accommodate everyone who came to the lab. There were as many as 5 people huddled around each of the 20 machines. All the the groups completed the 2 main exercises. Some groups even took the product for an off-road test drive. Look at all the fun we had ... For those who could not attend or want the Hands On Lab document: Hands On Lab Oracle BI Publisher Collaborate 2010.pdf Note that these lab instructions assume a specific set up and files that you may not have in your environment. You can download and install a trial license version of BI Publisher from the download page. Highly recommend taking a look at the additional Tutorials available on OTN. Big thanks to Dan Vlamis and Jonathan Clark from Vlamis Software Solutions and to the Oracle BIWA SIG for setting up these machines and getting the time and space to run this lab. It was inspiring to see all of the attendees successfully creating reports. On Tuesday morning we were up early again for a rousing session of BI Publisher Best Practices that was also, very well attended especially considering the 8 am start. Later that morning saw Ben Bruno from STR Software and two of his customers speak on the additional functionality and ROI they have achieved by using Publisher within EBS and AventX to FAX and Email Publisher generated documents. Spent the afternoon staffing the BI Technology demo pod and had a steady flow of people dropping by with questions. Having a great conference so far and looking forward to the rest of it.

• How do you automate a SharePoint 2010 deployment?

  In the last couple of months SharePoint traffic (consulting, training and speaking) has picked up.  And with that also the requests for deployments.  There are good, great, bad and really bad things around this. But that is for another topic.  However part of the good and great has been the fact of organizations wanting to do a proof of concept deployment (even when WSS or MOSS has been deployed). We can go through a session (Microsoft has the SDPS concept, SharePoint Deployment Planning Services) of discovering what the customer wants to achieve from their investment in the platform and then also proceed to model the solution that would fit their needs.  But it should not stop there.  The next step should be a POC (as many have requested) to test out. Now, on to the meat of this post.  How do I deploy?  While it is a good process to watch and see all of it take place, not many have the time to sit through that.  Even more so, when that has been part of the description of deploying the platform in the sessions mentioned above. I will, though, break it into a deployment for development purposes and a deployment of a farm. Two tools (or scripts) for those two different types of deployment. First, let me address the development environment.  Around the last week in October, Chris Johnson (SharePoint Product Team) announced a SharePoint Easy Setup for Developers.  The kit itself will assist you in installing SharePoint Server (in standalone mode), the tools that go around Visual Studio, Expression Studio and the Office 2010 tools. Now, this is not to override planning.  It should highlight the need for planning even more.  How?  Having your service accounts planned, the structure of the sites and the scale of your deployment.  Enter AutoSPInstaller.  This is a CodePlex project, and the intent behind this is not only to automate the installation but to give some meaning and get some sense out of what goes on during a SharePoint deployment. How?  Take for example the creation of the databases, when we do the initial OOB deployment by using the wizard, more times than not, we leave the names as they are.  How is that a “bad thing”?  Let’s make it a better practice to rename those Databases, and have them take on a name that is not “GUID-ized”.   I want to implement an efficient mechanism to throttle login attemps in my Java web application, to prevent brute-force attacks on user accounts. Jeff explained the why, but not the how. Simon Willison showed an implementation in Python for Django: That doesn't really help me along as I can't use memcached nor Django. Porting his ideas from scratch doesn't seem like a great either - I don't want to reinvent the wheel. I found one Java implementation, though it seems rather naiive: Instead of a LRU cache, it just clears all entries after 15 minutes. EHCache could be an alternative for memcached, but I don't have any experience with it and don't really want to intoduce yet another technology if there are better alternatives for this task. So, whats a good way to implement login throttling in Java?

  I'm making a clone of the classic game simon, the memory matching game. My (iPad) app will load fine, i tap start, the game screen loads, and only one of my four buttons will respond to touch commands. To troubleshoot, I tried creating a second unrelated nib and just populating it with four buttons not linked to anything. However, only one of those four buttons would respond to touch! There are no IBActions being called, nothing. Both the view itself, and all four buttons are touch enabled in the inspector...I'm stumped. I'm moreso asking if anyone has encountered anything simillar, as I'd rather not burden potential help with app-specific questions if it's avoidable. Thank you!

I'm trying to inject a specific IGenericRepository<Section> into a class using StructureMap: ObjectFactory.Initialize(x => { x.For(typeof(IGenericRepository<>)).Use(typeof(GenericRepository<>)); }); But when I try to use ObjectFactory.GetInstance<IGenericRepository<Section>>(); I get: StructureMap Exception Code: 202 No Default Instance defined for PluginFamily System.Data.Common.DbConnection Any ideas why this is or what I'm doing wrong? • C# Keeping DLLs with the associated library

  We have a library built on the back of eldos' Secure Black Box. We use copy local to ensure that the appropriate runtime DLLs are included. If we now reference our library in another project with a copy local our library is copied into the bin folder of our main project but the Eldos SBB libraries aren't. We could reference SBB in the main project but there are no direct calls to SBB so any time the code is refactored the references may be removed as unused. What is the best way of handling this issue? Simon

  Hi I am looking to return a PDF from a webservice call. (ATM, a custom proxy is required at the client-side) AFAICS, there are 2 ways of doing it a) Return the link to a web-accessible location b) Encode the PDF and include it in the XML In my circumstance, a) will require 2 trips from the client, the first to get the path and the second to get the file. However, wrt b), this link (http://www.coderanch.com/t/279020/Streams/java/wrting-bytearray-xml-file#1283263) suggests that it isn't a good idea to encode a PDF, though without explanation. I'd be grateful if someone would offer recommendations of the above (and potentially, other alternatives). Many thx Simon

  I've got an object: var obj = { "Mike": 24, "Peter": 23, "Simon": 33, "Tom": 12, "Frank": 31 }; I want to create an array that holds the values of the object. The keys (key names) can be disregarded: [24, 23, 33, 12, 31] The order of the values is NOT important! One solution (obviously) would be do have a function that takes the values and puts them into an array: var arr = valuesToArray(obj); I will accept such a function as the answer. However, I would be more pleased if there would be an API function (ECMAScript, jQuery, browser-specific, ...) that could do this. Is there such a thing?
