  • Does UIScrollView have a special content view for making the scrolling possible?

    I wonder if UIScrollView has got an "hidden" subview acting as an container for the content. If I scroll a scroll view, is that content view moved up/down in the scroll view? Or is the scrolling offset applied to the bounds of that UIScrollView instance? Or: Does UIScrollView use an additional view as container, or is all content added directly to the view? The documentation doesn't tell much about wether it has a content container or not.

  • Privileged command as part of cronjob

    Hi, I'm facing a weired problem on a unix-based machine. Here is the story: I have a personal username/password on a unix machine with limited privileges. Whenever I need to execute some commands I have to substitute user using the su command, then I execute it normally. Now, I need to add a cronjob that uses such privileged commands so I added the cronjob on the crontab of the user I substituted to in order to have access to these commands. Strangely, it turned out to me that these commands fail to run for some reason as a cronjob although when I execute them directly from shell (after su) they work seamlessly. Why does this happen? Why do these commands not work as part of cronjobs? Thank you

  • Fast, Vectorizable method of taking floating point number modulus of special primes?

    Is there a fast method for taking the modulus of a floating point number? With integers, there are tricks for Mersenne primes, so that its possible to calculate y = x MOD 2^31 without needing division. Can any similar tricks be applied for floating point numbers? Preferably, in a way that can be converted into vector/SIMD operations, or moved into GPGPU code. The primes I'm interested in would be 2^7 and 2^31, although if there are more efficient ones for floating point numbers, those would be welcome.

  • Drupal - special css file if JS is turned off?

    I'm building a Drupal theme up and want to know if there is a Drupalish way to add a css file only if the user has js turned off. This would ideally go in the theme.info file to keep it neat! Something like this would be ideal: conditional-stylesheets[if no javascript][all][] = nojs.css If this isn't possible then I'm going to keep all the css that needs JS out of the css files, and add it dynamically using JS but this seems a bit messy... Any ideas?

    Hey all, I'm trying to have the following tag toggle between a "-" and the checkmark character (✓) <a id='p_4' class='fancy_button orange bls_button' href='#'>-</a> And here's the jquery code: if (button.text() == '-') { button.html('&#10003'); } This works in FF3.6 and IE8, but not in WebKit (Chrome or iPhone safari). Is there something I'm doing wrong, or does webkit just not like .html("✓") Thanks, Sam

    When I call CaptureMouse() in response to a MouseDown from the middle mouse button, it will capture and then release the mouse. Huh? I've tried using Preview events, setting Handled=true, doesn't make a difference. Am I not understanding mouse capture in WPF? Something like this - */15 * * * * /usr/bin/php /a/b/c.php parameter1 parameter2 parameter3 parameter4 Now i tried working this up but my file is not executing. What im concerned about is that how will my php file will fetch these parameters ?? And how will i write this command when there is only 2 parameters to be passes parameter1 and parameter4??? and how will my cron and php will recognoze that which parameter is for which data and all?? please advice!!

  • Advanced Terminal / Console apps for Mac OS X?

    I use a lot of command line programs, very often with similar arguments. Can anyone recommend an application or a workflow that allows me to store often used shell commands and search through my recent commands, using a GUI? I have commands that I use very often (eg. rsync a specific directory to a server) and other commands that I use less often. Creating shell scripts for every code snippet I might reuse seems a bit awkward. Especially for programs that I use seldomly, I end up reading the docs over and over again, because I forgot to write down the exact shell command. Ideally I would like an app that's just like Terminal.app, but provides some kind of history and snippet management. What do you use to keep track of shell commands?

  • Why do browsers encode special characters differently with ajax requests?

    I have a web application that reads the values of a few input fields (alphanumeric) and constructs a very simple xml that is passes to the server, using jQuery's $.ajax() method. The template for that xml is: <request> <session>[some-string]</session> <space>[some-string]</space> <plot>[some-string]</plot> ... </request> Sending such requests to the server when the inputs contain Finnish diacritical characters (such as ä or ö) raises a problem in terms of character encoding with different browsers. For instance, if I add the word Käyttötarkoitus" in one of the inputs, here's how Chrome and Firefox send EXACTLY the same request to the server: Chrome: <request> <session>{string-hidden}</session> <space>2080874</space> <plot>Käyttötarkoitus</plot> ... </request> FF 12.0: <request> <session>{string-hidden}</session> <space>2080874</space> <plot>Käyttötarkoitus</plot> ... </request> And here is the code fragment that I use to send the requests: $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: url, dataType: 'xml;charset=UTF-8', data: xml, success: function(xml) { // }, error: function(jqXHR, textStatus, errorThrown) { // } }); Why do I get different encodings and how do I get rid of this difference?     After peeking at the SO source, I noticed this tag: <link rel="apple-itouch-icon" href="/apple-touch-icon.png" /> Which after a quick Google revealed an Apple "favicon" type thing for display on your homepage ("WebClip Bookmark" to be exact). The only other one that jumps to mind is the: <input type="search" results="5"/> This type="search" causes the field to "inherit" the Apple search icon, and the optional results="x" enables a history of "x" keywords to be maintained. I'm therefore wondering, what other Apple/Safari (iPhone/iPod Touch) specific HTML tags and attributes are out there that I'm not aware of! Curious minds need to know!

    Im trying to navigate an XML block similar to this one ($doc) using PHP simplexml_load_string and using xpath on $doc to get only the 'Day' block like this: $myday = $doc->xpath ('//Day'); that lets me access all data from the block as an object, meaning $doc-AdultCount returns 1 and $doc-Id returns "6a0" however I can't access "SpecialDeals" content not using: $doc-SpecialDeals nor using: $doc-SpecialDeals-a:string Whats is the right syntax in this case?   • Is there any way to perform pre-/post-switch commands using TortoiseSVN?

    We need to perform some tasks when switching from one Subversion branch to another using TortoiseSVN. Is there any way to, say, call a batch file before and after the switch? The only thing I can find are pre-/post-update and commit hooks, but none of those get executed when switching between branches. EDIT: I am looking for client-side hooks. TortoiseSVN has client-side hook scripts for pre-/post-update and commit, but nothing (that I can find) for pre-/post-switch. Initially, I thought adding hooks for client-side pre-/post-update would be executed when switching between branches, but this does not seem to be the case.
