  Hello All, I am banging my head against the wall on this one. I followed the MX setup tutorials for Google Mail and it didn't work. Currently, after deleting those records and adding the ones google suggested I have domain.com. 86400 IN MX 10 ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.com. domain.com. 86400 IN MX 20 ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.com. domain.com. 86400 IN MX 20 ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.com. domain.com. 86400 IN MX 30 ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.com. domain.com. 86400 IN MX 30 ASPMX5.GOOGLEMAIL.com. domain.com. 86400 IN MX 30 ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.com. domain.com. 86400 IN MX 30 ASPMX4.GOOGLEMAIL.com. according to the output of my dig command for my particular "domain". I can send email from google apps mail but I can not recieve any email. It gives me the following error: Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 #5.1.0 Address rejected [email protected] Now I already tried following the slicehost MX article instructions straight as well and they did not work out for me. The domain has already been verified by google and it says the email is activated from their end. Any help would be appreciated : )

• Monitoring whether Google Apps email address is reachable

  Backstory: I bungled things a bit the other day, and inadvertantly deleted the DNS overrides for my domain including the MX records that point to Google Apps, causing 2 days of lost emails. What I want: I want to be able to monitor the email address/account so that I can be alerted if for any reason something has gone wrong and emails aren't arriving. Thoughts: I was thinking there might be a way to test the email without having to send an actual message. Does this exist? This wouldn't help if the DNS has reset itself to a different mailserver would it? The other idea was sending periodic emails to check the address it working. How would you automate this? You'd need to somehow check that the email address had arrived as well as checking if it had bounced. Are there any scripts that exist that would do something like this? What would be the best method? Maybe a combination of checking that the MX records for the domain are set to what they're supposed to be set to, and sending automatic test emails to check that things are still functioning on the Google Apps end?

• Can KVM CPU assignment count differ from physical hosts CPU count?

  I have read this question. I knew already that I could for example, have a quad core machine with four guests each having two vCPUs. As they don't all be require 100% CPU usage all the time, the scheduler would handle this for me. My question is about how this relates to a fail-over or migration situation; If host1 has two dual-core CPUs, and I assign guest1 four vCPUs (so it accessed all four physical cores), what will happen if I try and migrate it to host2 which only has one dual-core CPU? Can qemu-kvm emulate more vCPUs than there are physical? Or would I have to shut down the virtual machine, change the CPU assignment, migrate it, and then boot it back up (so no live migration)?   I've got a small setup, one machine that acts as a load balancer and two machines that do all the work. The load balancer runs nginx (static content + php proxying to workers) and mysql, the two workers run php5-fpm and memcached (pooled between workers). • MX setup for a domain registrar and web host with the same domain name

  I have a client that has registered their domain through a registrar, then signed up for hosting on through a different provider, but used the same domain for said provider (didn't re-register the domain, I think the declaration of domain on the host was for CNAME records specifically). The registrar properly routes his emails at his domain name (email hosted by Google), but the problem is, on the hosted site, when an administration action occurs, he is supposed to get an email stating so. The site is sending him an email with PHP and he never receives an email when its to his address with the same domain name; all other domain addresses work just fine. I have to imagine its something misconfigured on the host. From what I can assume, I think that the host sees that the to and from domains are the same, and it decides not to route the email externally. Currently, the registrar uses the proper nameservers for the host, and there are MX records on both the registrar and the host (they are identical entries). I hope I've been clear in my question.   A friend of mine had GPT partition n his Lenovo laptop. While formatting the computer and reinstalling the OS, I wiped of all the partitions, and created 4 new partitions. Now after installing everything, when I turned off the laptop. It isn't booting, I checked the BIOS settings, and tried booting Ubuntu off my life disc, it ran well, but again, I can't boot anymore. Later I figured out, that this is happening because I had deleted the GPT partition, and now the OS has tried to create MBR records, so basically this is the problem.

• ubuntu mount iso but some files are unreadable

  I'm new to Linux and just installed ubuntu 12.04 amd64 this month. I had failed installing Texlive with texlive2012 iso image. I used the recommended command to mount: "mount -t iso9660 -o ro,loop,noauto /your/texlive2012.iso /mnt " But the installer failed to read some file. The iso is fine, I checked the md5. I extracted everything from iso with archive manager, and it installed successfully. So, why mount is not working? Thanks. • Microsoft Access: computer freezes when user tries to update record

  A colleague and I have developed an Access 2003 database which is used throughout our department. Currently about four dozen people do data entry using one of two very similar forms. If 47 of us use them, they work perfectly. If Mr. 48 clicks the "Save" button, Windows XP freezes and a hard reset is needed. The problem has to be on his specific computer (Dell latitude D630) and not in the code because this problem only affects him. Complicating the matter: I don't work for IS, and this project is not supported by IS. If I'm going to get our tech support to fix the problem I had better be able to explain exactly what to do and how to do it, because they aren't going to invest any resources. I don't even have admin rights on the computer (and neither does its regular user). I've asked him to bring his laptop the next time he visits my building. (Just to make matters worse, he doesn't usually work in the same location as me or the other developer.) Any suggestions on debugging the problem? My first try will be to uninstall and reinstall Office, which I can do using corporate utilities without being admin. Note: yes, those are old versions of Office and Windows. We expect to upgrade later this year.

  I have an Ubuntu raring server running postfix/dovecot as an email server, with tumgreyspf doing greylisting and SPF checks. My problem is that I also have a backup MX server, that is supposed to store my emails temporarily, should my main server ever fails. It usually rejects receiving emails if it finds the main server online and functional. • postfix not sending domain mail to mx

  I'm trying to get postfix to forward email to my domain which is hosted by gmail. As I don't have any users on my server nor do I want to. Here's how I have things set up.. LEt's say you and I have a domain called mcdonalds.com the registrar has mcdonalds.com MX records pointing to gmail. (everything works for like a year) Now we set up a server to host a website. Then we create a mail account called [email protected] and send mail locally from the server using roundcube. This works. We can send mail to cnn.com we can send mail to serverfault.com we can email any/everyone. BUT we cannot send mail to our own domain mcdonalds.com So I cannot email [email protected] I cannot email [email protected] I cannot email [email protected] It gives the error: SMTP Error (450): Failed to add recipient "[email protected]" (4.1.1 : Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual mailbox table). I'm guessing because it is looking at the local server to find the mailbox and it doesn't exist. So how to I tell the server for any mail going to mcdonalds.com for [email protected] to send to my external mail server and NOT to lookup on the local www box we set up with zpanel. Any ideas?

I have added a CNAME entry to my CDN URL, which should be cdn.example.com and pointing to the original cdn url. xxx.netdna-cdn.com/ But probably because of my nginx vhost file when I run cdn.example.com, it opens the first server entry site in my vhost file. I have multiple sites in my server. I have added CNAME from CPanel DNS editor as well. No luck, so I think I need to add something in the vhost.conf.

• Cookieless Domain redirect in WHM/cPANEL

  I am currently trying to get my head around in understanding how to set-up a "cookieless" domain using WHM / Cpanel - unfortunately without any success at this moment. I have a Magento store and I would like to use "cookieless domains" for my media, skin (template) and js files. Magento has a nice feature to define URL for those folders. My current setup is as follows: www.mydomain.com <- main store media.mydomain.com <- subdomain to the media folder (mydomain.com/media/) skin.mydomain.com <- subdomain to the media folder (mydomain.com/skin/) js.mydomain.com <- subdomain to the media folder (mydomain.com/js/) I think it's poinless to have them used as "cookieliess domains" since my Magento installation uses .mydomain.com as cookie domain, so what I would like to achieve is to register a new additional domain and have it point via WHM / cPanel to those specific locations. I have tried to change the A and CNAME records although without any success as they were just simply redirecting from one page to another in the browser (newdomain.com - jump to old.com). What kind of records do I have to set to have this working properly? Some advice would be highly appreciated.

  I have signed up for google apps recently for my organisation. The google apps guide says that I need to edit the MX entry for my domain so that the mails get redirected to the google mail servers instead of my default mail server. But, I am having a doubt whether to edit the MX entry on my domain name provider or the hosting server. My domain name provider is godaddy.com and my server is ServInt. And, moreover, what difference does it make if I edit the MX entries on my hosting provider or my domain name provider. Thanks, niting

  I have a 140 MB text file, which contains detail information of books in library. For each book details there is a standard format data details in text file. I need to parse it and insert the data in Database. Here, parsing text file is not an issue. I am facing problem in parsing this large file. So i decided to split the file in small file around 2 MB each file. But i can't manually split this large file in so many pieces. I got HJsplit tool, which split the file but this also doesn't helped as this split the file but 1 book details half part is in one file and rest part is in second file. so if i split this way then information will be missed. How to split the large so that i cant miss the information ? Is there any tool which help me in this condition.

I had a look at OpenVPN and this seemed excellent, but was hoping that there would be a less costly option on a per-concurrent-user basis. I work at a local web-hosting firm and we get a lot of tickets from clients who want to set up these settings. I see another firm (rival one) who sets up way more MX-records ? Roughly, around 10-15 entries. Am I doing something wrong ? More is better in this case ? Is there a secret that I'm not on too ?

• Transferring NS records to a new server

  I feel like that was NOT worded well, but here is my current predicament. I recently had a GoDaddy dedicated server, and decided after their customer support failed to do anything but disappoint, to switch to Rackspace. We have 2 ns records that point to our godaddy server, and we have a few sites left on the server, that rely on it for their DNS zones, and the owners of the domains fail to respond to us. So, the question is, if I need to transfer the sites off of the OLD godaddy NS, can I point the A records from my ns1.domain.com and ns2.domain.com to match up with IP addresses of the Rackspace nameservers? OR, do I cname my NS records to match the rackspace ones? I DO know that this isn't advised, either method, but I need to get these sites moved before Godaddy tries charging another $2k for the server.

• Microsoft DNS Server (Windows 2008) CNAME issue

  I am using the DNS role in Windows Server 2008 R2. I have my records set up correctly with the following CNAMEs: {removed domain names for security} Currently, only the 'wsp' cname works. All the records are identically set up. I have checked with a DNS checker, and the other two CNAMEs do not resolve to anything. I have tried restarting the server, re-creating the forward lookup zone. Can anyone see what is wrong? 'A' records work fine when set.
