  • FB Developer: Capture POST variables after multi-friend-selector

    - by Faruz
Using this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/820421/can-i-use-facebooks-fbfriend-selector-in-an-iframe I created a multi-friend selector in my IFRAME FB application. I want to know if the user selected any users for invite so I can reward him with extra points. In the developer WIKI I saw that [ids] is transferred to requested page via POST. But how I can capture the values if I'm using JS/.NET? (Preferably through .NET so I can easily save values in the DB).

  • Mercurial for Beginners: The Definitive Practical Guide

    - by Laz
Inspired by Git for beginners: The definitive practical guide. This is a compilation of information on using Mercurial for beginners for practical use. Beginner - a programmer who has touched source control without understanding it very well. Practical - covering situations that the majority of users often encounter - creating a repository, branching, merging, pulling/pushing from/to a remote repository, etc. Notes: Explain how to get something done rather than how something is implemented. Deal with one question per answer. Answer clearly and as concisely as possible. Edit/extend an existing answer rather than create a new answer on the same topic. Please provide a link to the the Mercurial wiki or the HG Book for people who want to learn more. Questions: Installation/Setup How to install Mercurial? How to set up Mercurial? How do you create a new project/repository? How do you configure it to ignore files? Working with the code How do you get the latest code? How do you check out code? How do you commit changes? How do you see what's uncommitted, or the status of your current codebase? How do you destroy unwanted commits? How do you compare two revisions of a file, or your current file and a previous revision? How do you see the history of revisions to a file? How do you handle binary files (visio docs, for instance, or compiler environments)? How do you merge files changed at the "same time"? Tagging, branching, releases, baselines How do you 'mark' 'tag' or 'release' a particular set of revisions for a particular set of files so you can always pull that one later? How do you pull a particular 'release'? How do you branch? How do you merge branches? How do you merge parts of one branch into another branch? Other Good GUI/IDE plugin for Mercurial? Advantages/disadvantages? Any other common tasks a beginner should know? How do I interface with Subversion? • Unicode special characters - Dingbats - Appear differently in Firefox vs. Chrome/IE

    - by Oren
Hi there, I'm trying to find a way to make dingbats appear exactly the same in Firefox, Chrome, Safari and IE. I noticed that the Dingbats appear the same in IE/Chrome/Safari, HOWEVER - in Firefox - they look "thiner". For example - try to visit the following page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dingbat You'll notice that when viewing that page in Firefox - the characters look different in comparison to Chrome/IE. Does anybody know why and how can I cause Firefox to display the characters EXACTLY like they appear in Chrome/IE? Thx, Oren.

  • Updating Commit Message in Mercurial MQ extension

    - by Jerub
After using hg qnew and hg qrefresh to create and update a patch that I want to apply to my repository, but the commit message that I wrote when I did hg qnew was not very good, it did not reference the ticket number from trac, and I would like to say something in it about some of the issues that my commit addresses. How do I do something like hg qrewritemycommitmessage. I have examined the docs on the website (starting here: http://mercurial.selenic.com/wiki/MqExtension ) and I have come up blank.

  • Why Do You Use Delphi?

    - by lkessler
Nick Bradbury (the author of HomeSite, TopStyle and FeedDemon) just posted a fascinating explanation of why he uses Delphi: http://nick.typepad.com/blog/2009/07/why-i-use-delphi.html I'd like to know if there are other reasons. Why do you use Delphi? (I'm making this community wiki from the onset. I'm interested in hearing your answers, not in points.)

  • Why the proliferation of open source licenses?

    - by dwj
Is the proliferation of open source licenses just another example of programmers living NYI (Not Invented Here) syndrome? I know there are some big differences between some of the big licenses (e.g., GPL, Apache, BSD) but when you start looking to see many projects creating their own licenses. Why? • What are some models that you know of for PHP OOP?

    - by Doug
I recently learned a lot about MVC model which is a very interesting concept. I would assume there are a lot more models out there, and I thought it would be great for people to share some models. Here's my contribution: MVC Model: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model%E2%80%93view%E2%80%93controller

  • Why subtract null pointer in offsetof()?

    - by Bruce Christensen
Linux's stddef.h defines offsetof() as: #define offsetof(TYPE, MEMBER) ((size_t) &((TYPE *)0)->MEMBER) whereas the Wikipedia article on offsetof() (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offsetof) defines it as: #define offsetof(st, m) \ ((size_t) ( (char *)&((st *)(0))->m - (char *)0 )) Why subtract (char *)0 in the Wikipedia version? Is there any case where that would actually make a difference?

  • SQL to join to the best matching row

    - by williamjones
I have a wiki system where there is a central table, Article, that has many Revisions in their own table. The Revisions each contain a created_at time and date column. I want to update the Articles to contain a denormalized field sort_name from the most recent Revision's name field. What SQL command can I issue to fill in each Article's sort_name field with its most recent Revision's name field? For what it's worth, I'm on PostgreSQL.

  • Version control: delete branches after merging?

    - by Nathan Long
When you branch some code, finish working with the branch, and merge it back to the trunk, what do you do with the branch? Delete it from the repository? Keep it for reference? It seems like you would keep it for reference, but I imagine the /branches directory could get pretty cluttered. (If this isn't something people generally agree on, please comment and I'll make it a community wiki.)

  • SourceForge-like site but not SourceForge...

    - by AndrejaKo
This may be off-topic, but I decided to ask it here anyway, because it's very related to programming. I'm looking for a site which will host a free software project for free, offer SVN and Hg access, bug tracking &co, space for a blog... Any tips? Also, should this be community wiki?
