Which module gets loaded on which conditions? The phusion guys have suggested to use the worker module. Since both are present in apache conf file, do I have to comment the mpm_prefork_module or leave it as it is?     Hi, I need to create an out-of-process COM server (.exe) in C# that will be accessed by multiple other processes on the same box. The component has to be a single process because it will cache the information it provides to its consumers in memory. Note: the processes that will access my COM Server are mostly Matlab processes, thus the necessity for a COM interface. I have seen threads regarding creating in-process COM components in .Net on stack overflow (Create COM ...) and on the web, but am having a hard time to find a way to create out-of-process components with .Net. How is this achievable? Any suggested references? Thanks.

    I'm a c# newbie so bear with me. I'm trying to call "pslist" from PsTools from a c# app, but I keep getting "The system cannot find the file specified". I thought I read somewhere on google that the exe should be in c:\windows\system32, so I tried that, still nothing. Even trying the full path to c:\windows\system32\PsList.exe is not working.     I am developing an application to read an excel spreadsheet, validate the data and then map it to a sql table. The process is to read the file via a streamreader, validate the data, manually make corrections to the excel spreadsheet, validate again -- repeat this process until all data validates. If the excel spreadsheet is open, then when I attempt to read the data via a streamreader I get an error, "The process cannot access the file ... because it is being used by another process." Is there a way to remove the lock or otherwise read the data into a streamreader without having to open and close excel each time?

    I have a legacy C++ "solution engine" that I have already wrapped as an in-process COM object for use by client applications that only require a single "solution engine". However I now have a client application that requires multiple "solution engines". Unfortunately the underlying legacy code has enough global data, singletons and threading horrors that given available resources it isn't possible to have multiple instances of it in-process simultaneously. What I am hoping is that some kind soul can tell me of some COM magic where with the flip of a couple of registry settings it is possible to have a separate out-of-process COM server (separate operating system process) for each instance of the COM object requested. Am I in luck?

I'm currently working on a clustered WLI environment which comprehends 3 servers: 1 admin server ("AdminServer") and 2 managed servers ("mn1" and "mn2") grouped as a cluster, as follows: Architecture diagram: http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/4112/clusterdiagram.jpg I've developed a JPD process to execute some scheduled tasks, invoked using a Message Broker. I've deployed this project into a single-server WLI domain (with AdminServer only) and it works as expected: the JPD process is invoked (I've configured a Timer Event Generator instance to start it up). Although, I'm having some issues with this, as I cannot get it to work properly, even if it still works. I was reading 37signals getting real pamphlet online (http://gettingreal.37signals.com/), and I understand the recommended process to build the entire website. Brainstorm, sketch, HTML, code. They touch on each process lightly, but they never really talk much about the coding process (all they say is to keep code lean). I've been reading about different ways to go about it (top to bottom, bottom to top) but I dont know much about each way. I even read somewhere that one should write tests for the code before they actually write the code??? WHAT? What coding process should one follow when building an application. if its necessary, I'm using PHP and a framework.

I wish to call a x64 exe from x86 process/exe, for example: open x32 cmd : %windir%\SysWoW64\cmd.exe start notepad: notepad.exe <- it will be x32 notepad (according to taskmanager = *) Is it possible to execute the x64 notepad from the x32 cmd ? My problem is the process I'm executing must run as x64, I don't want it to work as x86 (WoW) since it acts differently... this is how it was programmed and I can't change it :-( and my exe is x86...     I am working on a 3rd party application that allows plugins to be written in .NET 1.1. I have decided I would like to write my plugin in a seperate process that is called from the .NET 1.1 application (achieved using Process.Start). This is fine- I create a new process that is a WPF app. When I launch this through MSTSC everything works as expected, however when I run the app through Citrix, the WPF child app fails to render correctly, and the mouse position starts going crazy- the child process window is basically not usable. Is there a way to avoid this happening? If I create a seperate WPF application and deploy this through Citrix everything works fine. If I create a child Windows forms app in .NET 3.5, that also works fine.

    Greetings, all, I need to run a potentially long-running process from Ruby on Windows and subsequently capture and parse the data from the external process's standard output and error. A large amount of data can be sent to each, but I am only necessarily interested in one line at a time (not capturing and storing the whole of the output). After a bit of research, I found that the Open3 class would take care of executing the process and giving me IO objects connected to the process's standard output and error (via popen3). Open3.popen3("external-program.bat") do |stdin, out, err, thread| # Step3.profit() ? end However, I'm not sure how to continually read from both streams without blocking the program. Since calling IO#readlines on out or err when a lot of data has been sent results in a memory allocation error, I'm trying to continuously check both streams for available input, but not having much luck with any of my implementations.
