  • Which Qt4 Widgets whould I be using? [closed]

    I'm using Qt 4 to design an IDE but I'm having a hard time with the GUI design. On the left side I want to put a widget that shows the files on the current project and on the left side a similar one but with the classes, methods, etc... Which widget should I use the Tree view or the tree widget? Also, I want to have a tab widget in the center with a text edit and this items the tree widgets and the tab widget to move and resize according to the window size. How can I accomplish this?

The Handling JavaFX Events document has been updated with more information on touch events. The Working with Touch Events chapter and Touch Events sample provide information about handling individual touch points to provide sophisticated responses to touch actions. The Implementing Best Practices document has been updated to include information about running tasks on background threads. The Troubleshooting section of Deploying JavaFX Applications now includes a section about disabling the automatic proxy configuration in your application code.   • Very original V&V explanation (Bohm) - I cannot understand its point

    Hopefully my last thread about V&V as I found the B.Boehm is text which I just do not understand well (likely my technical English is not that good). http://csse.usc.edu/csse/TECHRPTS/1979/usccse79-501/usccse79-501.pdf Basically he says that verification is about checking that products derived from requirments baseline must correspond to it and that deviation leads only to changes in these derived products (design, code). But he says it begins with design and ends with acceptance tests (you can check the V model inside). The thing is, I have accepted ISO12207 in terms of all testing is validation, yet it does not make any sense here. In order to be sure the product complies with requirements (acceptance test) I need to test it. Also it says that validation problems means that requirements are bad and needs to be changed - which does not happen with testing that testers do, who just checks correspondence with requirements.

  • Is Java a good choice for small to medium size websites? [closed]

    Why do I ask? I want to use one language not two. Yes I know with Java and .NET I can program anything, but, as a website it should have a good design, I don't want to build ugly sites. Which is why for smaller sites I use PHP, I can get the e-comm I want and also a nice UI pretty easily, unlike in ASP.NET. But would I run into this design rstriction with Java (I've never used it). Plus, Java would also give me exposure to Android development. So..then I could ditch PHP? I guess I am looking for the 'one ring to rule them all', and not 2 or 3 (languages). Thanks in advance,

    After 1 months research I basically give up on getting all URL's from a search results programmatically, I looked at Google Search API to find a way to get millions of search results "URL's" to be specific to a text file or something relative but no success, but I am 100% there must be a way or trick of doing it. Real Question : Is there anyway programmatically or manually I can get 1000+ search results (URLs using search query e.g. "Apple" returns million of results on google and I want as much as possible URLs of them results in a text file) Note : Don't care for any specific search engine or programming language or technique or software or just point me to right direction, but yeah I tried it with google API i can't get more then 100 results at all.

    I think there are some js-libraries with programming the html5 canvas element. Which one to choose? I've done some js-coding with canvas and are somewhat familiar with the api. But I think somekind of library which encapsulates the somewhat tedious canvas api would be a good thing, so it speeds up the development.     I took a Game Design class a while ago that used Multimedia Fusion 2. Now I would like to get it on my computer, but I don't have the disk anymore. I have access to the program on my Dad's computer, but I want to get it on mine. Is there a way to get MMF2 for free on my computer? If not, are there any other free game design programs like MMF2 (knowing code is not necessary)? Edit: If I paid the $50 to upgrade to 2.5, could I put it on a second computer, or is that not possible?

    This question is more a design oriented question than a code specific question. I am new to PHP and I am planning to use PDO as a data access layer. Say for instance I have a class called CITY. Now if I need to create an instance of this class, what is the best technique. Should have a singleton DB access class which is used to write and read data from the db layer. OR should I delegate it to the individual class object. For example if I invoke city.save() (city is a class), then the city class will handle the saving of that city object's data into the database. Excuse my ignorance but i have a java background and therefore trying to understand what is the best design principle for data management when using php.

  • c# - PubNub JSON serialization code works in example project but not in my project

    I am making a Winamp plugin with the single function of sending the details of the song being played over HTTP to a webpage. It works like this: Winamp song event triggered - check for new song - publish to webpage using PubNub (C# API). So far I got to the stage where everything works exactly as it is supposed to, except for the PubNub code which doesn't serialize the object I'm passing for publishing into JSON. All I keep getting in the PubNub console is a mere {} - an empty JSON object. A little background on the project structure: I am using Sharpamp which is a custom library that enables making Winamp plugins with C#. I am also using the PubNub C# API. The gen_notifier_cs project is the C++ plugin wrapper created by Sharpamp. notifier_cs is where all my code resides. The two other projects are self explanatory I assume. I have referenced the PubNub API in notifier_cs, and also have referenced Sharpamp in both notifier_cs and PubNub API. So, the objects that need to get serialized are of a class Song as defined in Sharpamp: public class Song { public string Title { get; internal set; } public string Artist { get; internal set; } public string Album { get; internal set; } public string Year { get; internal set; } public bool HasMetadata { get; internal set; } public string Filename { get; internal set; } } So let's say if I have a song object with song data in it, I would go pubnub.publish("winamp_pipe", song); to publish it and PubNub will automatically serialize the data into JSON. But that's just not working in my solution. To test why it wasn't serializing, I copied that class to the example code file in the PubNub API. Visual Studio changed the class to this (notice the public Song() method): public class Song { public Song() { return; } public string Album { get; set; } public string Artist { get; set; } public string Filename { get; set; } public bool HasMetadata { get; set; } public string Title { get; set; } public string Year { get; set; } } On the same example file I initiated a default song object with some values: Song song = new Song(); song.Album = "albumname"; song.Artist = "artistname"; song.HasMetadata = true; song.Title = "songtitle"; song.Year = "2012"; And published it: pubnub.publish("winamp_pipe", song); and it worked! I got the JSON object in the PubNub channel! {"Album":"albumname","Artist":"artistname","Filename":null,"HasMetadata":true,"Title":"songtitle","Year":"2012"} So, I tried replacing the "new" Song class with the original one defined in Sharpamp. I tried adding another class definition in the notifier_cs project but that clashes with the one in Sharpamp which I have to rely on. I have been trying so many things as far as I could come up with. Needless to say none prevailed. Still, all I get is an empty JSON object. I have been pulling out my hair for the last day. I know this post is super long but I appreciate your input nonetheless. I am using the javascript api, I think there is maybe a bug sending the thumbnail using the javascript api.   • Pecl complies .so extensions for OSX built-in PHP and not MAMP

    I've installed the sphinx binaries and libraries and am now trying to install the PECL sphinx module. My system is running OS X 10.6 with MAMP 1.8.2 installed. I try to install sphinx using the following command: sudo pecl install sphinx The PECL command outputs the following: running: phpize Configuring for: PHP Api Version: 20090626 Zend Module Api No: 20090626 Zend Extension Api No: 220090626 The versions above don't match the versions listed when doing a phpinfo(). It seems that PECL is trying to complie against the built-in version of PHP. If I ignore the errors and continue the it will successfully compile and place the sphinx.so file in: /usr/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20090626/sphinx.so when in fact it should be: /Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/ I've tried copying the sphinx.so file to the MAMP extensions dir but when I restart apache PHP displays the following warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/sphinx.so I think this is because MAMP is 32bit and the built-in PHP is 64bit so PECL complies for 64bit. I might be completely wrong but I did read this when I goggled on the topic. Does anyone know how to get PECL to map to the MAMP version of PHP instead of the built-in version?

  • PECL install error after upgrading to OSX 10.8

    I've just upgraded my OS to Mountain Lion and PECL is no longer working (it's on a test drive so no drama, but I'd like to get it working so I can upgrade the OS on my shiny new SSD as well). I'm using the native PHP installation, no macports/homebrew or anything like that. Running sudo pecl install uploadprogress (for example) produces the following terminal output: downloading uploadprogress-1.0.3.1.tgz ... Starting to download uploadprogress-1.0.3.1.tgz (9,040 bytes) .....done: 9,040 bytes 4 source files, building running: phpize grep: /usr/include/php/main/php.h: No such file or directory grep: /usr/include/php/Zend/zend_modules.h: No such file or directory grep: /usr/include/php/Zend/zend_extensions.h: No such file or directory Configuring for: PHP Api Version: Zend Module Api No: Zend Extension Api No: autom4te: need GNU m4 1.4 or later: /usr/bin/m4 ERROR: `phpize' failed I'm guessing the problem is the 3 grep lines. I've found several threads that suggest this is caused by XCode not being installed...but XCode is installed, and updated to the latest version (4.4). All the relevant symlinks to /Developer/usr/bin/* also exist as they should. m4 is currently at version: m4 (GNU M4) 1.4.13, so even though the output above contains a line pertaining to it, I don't think that can be the problem. I'm sure it's just a simple issue, anyone got any clues?

  • Problem building PHP extension module

    I'm trying to get GD into my PHP. So I compiled it, made php.ini point to it, restarted apache etc. But no GD. So in apache error log it says PHP Warning: PHP Startup: gd: Unable to initialize module\nModule compiled with module API=20060613\nPHP compiled with module API=20090115\nThese options need to match\n in Unknown on line 0 So a bit of googling says I should not use the phpize I have before configuring and making these. I should use a new one called phpize5. I surely don't have any such thing. Unless its packed up inside something else in my php5.3. distro. Where do you get it. In Ubuntu I could just run sudo apt-get install php-dev, (apparently) and it would just appear by magic. At least that's what the webpage said. Unfortunately I am running MacOSX version Leopard. How can I build this GD module so that it will match the API number in my PHP?
