    I just downloaded Firefox 3.6 today and I noticed in the list of new features they have an Orientation API that can detect the direction that your laptop/computer is tilted. This is clearly a hardware feature of some sort; So if you don't have the hardware to do so is there any way of simulating it so that you can test it out on your projects?

  • How to access Java servlet running on my PC from outside ?

    I used Netbeans6.7 to write a servlet, when it runs, it opens a browser window with this address : http://localhost:8080/My_App/Test_Servlet, I replaced the "localhost" with my IP address, now it looks like this : http://192.???.1.??:8080/My_App/Test_Servlet, but I tried to access it from another computer outside my home, it can't read anything, I wonder if I need to change Windows Fire Wall setting to allow outside traffic, it's a Paypal IPN app, so I call Paypal, they said they can't access : http://192.???.1.??:8080/My_App/Test_Servlet What on my side should I do to allow traffic from "paypal.com" to access "My_App/Test_Servlet" ?     I've got an app that's using sockets to push data, and I'm currently testing it on my localhost (so that the sender and receiver are on the same computer). I'm seeing between 36 and 66MB/s of throughput, which seems somewhat slow to me. What are normal throughput ranges for binary data on a local socket connection?

  • Is LuaJIT really faster than every other JIT-ed dynamic languages?

    According to the computer language benchmark game, the LuaJIT implementation seems to beat every other JIT-ed dynamic language (V8, Tracemonkey, PLT Scheme, Erlang HIPE) by an order of magnitude. I know that these benchmarks are not representative (as they say: "Which programming language implementations have the fastest benchmark programs?"), but this is still really impressive. In practice, is it really the case? Someone have tested that Lua implementation?

  • Program compiled with MSVC 9 won't start on a vanilla SP3 XP

    I installed XP on a virtual machine, updated it to SP3 and then tested a small program compiled with Visual C++ 2008 on my real computer - however it didn't start but outputted only an error saying that a problem had been detected and that a reinstall of the application (mine is 10KB in size and doesn't even have an installation) could fix the problem. What is required to run programs compiled with MSVC 9? Can I just include some dlls for it to work everywhere?

  • SVN Mac - Stripping files of SVN meta data?

    I downloaded some source files on a Mac that were previously part of some working copy on the authors computer, I need to use these files in another repository but the SVN client "Versions" for Mac is picking up on the data from this old repository. I can't find the ".SVN" folder anywhere... any idea on how to "cleanse" these files so I can commit them to my repository?

  • Allow access to my server.

    I have a server, did some of the programming myself. It ison my home network, but I need to be able to access it from anywhere over the internet. I have done the port forwarding like I am supposed to, but I still cant get to it from an outside computer. It just displays Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. I don't know what else to do. I am on a Linksys WRT54G v8 router running ddWRT v24 micro firmware.

    I had a task to write simple game simulating two players picking up 1-3 matches one after another until the pile is gone. I managed to do it for computer choosing random value of matches but now I'd like to go further and allow humans to play the game. Problem is, that thread of PlayerMan should wait until proper value of matches is given but I cannot make it work this way. Logic is as follows: thread runs until matches equals to zero. If player number is correct at the moment function pickMatches() is called. After decreasing number of matches on table, thread should wait and another thread should be notified. I know I must use wait() and notify() but I can't place them right.   • Unable to view USB stick/drive contents

    So, I plug-in my USB stick, copy a file from the hard drive to the USB stick, and safely remove the USB stick. I then plug out the USB stick. When I plug the USB stick back into the computer again, the previous contents of the USB stick are all gone. It shows an empty drive. I am using Windows XP SP 2 with an 8 GB USB stick from Transcend.

    I'm working on a website where a logged-in admin needs the ability to upload and manage multiple PDFs from their computer. They'd need to be able to upload/remove the files. Also, there would need to be a way that they can sort the list of uploaded files and save that order so that other visitors to the page would see the list of files in that particular order. If it corresponds to this of the thread currently active I use scanner to catch the amount of matches. Else I wait one second (I know it's kinda harsh solution, but I have no other idea how to do it). Class Shared keeps the value of current player, and also amount of matches. By the way, is there any way I can make Player and Shared attributes private instead of public and still make the code work ?     Is there a limit to the maximum number of concurrent users connected to SQL Server 2008? I am guessing computer resources determine that limit (if it exists), but I am also wondering if there is a theoretical limit. I have tried googling the answer, but all the information I have found is based upon earlier versions of SQL Server. If there is a limit, does it apply to just a database or a SQL Server instance?

    Hi, I am trying to put messages in a private queue defined on my local computer, but the queue size cannot exceed 8 MB. I am getting an exception every time after that size is reached. The size for the specific queue is set at 10 GB. I am running Windows 7 Professional. Is there a limitation because of that?
