  We introduced Trace Mobile Service in April 2010 and we are glad to announce that now the service is processing 20000 + per month. After a long time today I looked at the statistics and overwhelmed to see the number of trace requests processing by the service as 24282, 23781 and 18475 in the months of January 11, December 10 and November 10 respectively. Also I’m glad to announce that this service is contributes close to 10% of our revenues. In order to help the readers who is not able to identify establishment code of their PF account, here is the information for you. Establish Code is an unique number assigned to your organization by Government of India and Extension Number is for the branch of your organisation if any. Establishment code is part of your PF account number and it’s a 5 digit code. Here is a simple illustration that highlights(underlined in red) establishment codes of two PF accounts. For example if your Bangalore PF account number is KN/46753/987 then establishment code of your PF account is 46753. • Nokia Lumia Windows Phones Coming To India On Nov 14

  Nokia released it’s first set of smartphones, Lumia 800 & Lumia 710,  powered by Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS few weeks ago in Europe. India being it’s one of the favourite markets, Nokia is all set to launch the Lumia on November 14 in New Delhi. Unlike Apple who releases iPhones in India very late, Nokia is planning to bring its flagship smart mobiles very early to Indian market.  This is a good move by Nokia to keep it’s existing market share that is continuously challenged by Android OS smart phones from various manufactures. Nokia Lumia 710 runs on version 7.5 of Windows Phone OS(nick named as Mango) with 512 MB RAM, 8 GB internal storage capacity, 3.7″ WVGA TFT display, WIFI, GPS,  and 5 MP camera. Price details of the phone is not available but to be competitive in the market it should be priced some where between 25,000 to 30,000. The workspace is organized by product categories in folders e.g. SOA or Business Process Management or Applications & Fusion Middleware. You can also use tags to navigate within the workspace. For large downloads we do recommend to map the workspace as a network drive or to use the ftp functions.   Windows CE is a 32 bits OS since day one, so it makes sense tools shipped with PB, compiler, linker, assembler and etc, are for targeting to 32 bits system. But occasionally, if you are developing x86 based system and especially working on some boot code, such as boot sector of BIOSLOADER, that will be a problem. Normally, as PB provides the prebuilt boot sector image but if you ever need to rebuilt it, what should you do? You may say as it's an x86, perhaps you can use VS or Windows SDK to build it. But unfortunately, today's desktop Windows tool chains are also 32 or even 64 bits only, you need to find something older. VC++ 6.0, but how can you find one? • How can a large, Fortran-based number crunching codebase be modernized?

  A friend in academia asked me for advice (I'm a C# business application developer). He has a legacy codebase which he wrote in Fortran in the medical imaging field. It does a huge amount of number crunching using vectors. He uses a cluster (30ish cores) and has now gone towards a single workstation with 500ish GPUS in it. However where to go next with the codebase so: Other people can maintain it over next 10 year cycle Get faster at tweaking the software Can run on different infrastructures without recompiles After some research from me (this is a super interesting area) some options are: Use Python and CUDA from Nvidia Rewrite in a functional language. For example, F# or Haskell Go cloud based and use something like Hadoop and Java Learn C What has been your experience with this? What should my friend be looking at to modernize his codebase? UPDATE: Thanks @Mark and everyone who has answered. The reasons my friend is asking this question is that it's a perfect time in the projects lifecycle to do a review. Bringing research assistants up to speed in Fortran takes time (I like C#, and especially the tooling and can't imagine going back to older languages!!) I liked the suggestion of keeping the pure number crunching in Fortran, but wrapping it in something newer. Perhaps Python as that seems to be getting a stronghold in academia as a general-purpose programming language that is fairly easy to pick up. • Help with setting up AIM account

  Can anyone help me configure my AIM account? I have Oneiric and I want to set up my AIM account with what I believe is a chat client (the envelope icon on the top right). It is called Empathy. \n I tried to do this using Broadcast Account. It let me choose what account (Jabber, Pidgin, Aim, etc...). Once I entered my password for my AIM account, I got a pop-up asking for the master password for my Keyring. I didn't know what that was at the time so I closed that window after trying to enter my account password. Keyring apparently asks for a master password and it holds any keys you want to remember in the future. It gave me an error so I couldn't set up my AIM account completely. Now I'm trying to get back to that screen but I can only set up a Twitter or Facebook. Thanks, Aaron P.S. Can anyone tell me how to break the message up so it doesn't appear all on one line? I tried 'coding' a \n...seemed to work.

• I have 5 days of vouchers for MS training… help me choose? [closed]

  I'm a Microsoft centric guy (systems engineering side) and I already know the syntax of VB, have done VBScript pretty extensively and Excel VBA stuff as well. I want to make the leap into proper programming, probably with C# because it teaches me syntax I can use for Java if I want to go that route at some point. Since I have vouchers for 5 days of programming, and I can understand logic and understand how the .NET framework works... I would love to hear ideas on which MS Courses I should take. My primary focus is to work on web applications with web services that interact and do neat stuff... like for example, to create a 'chat' room or something interactive on the web. Or should I do something with HTML5/JS? I am really not sure... like I said, I want to work to make web services/sites. Not making the next Facebook mind you, but I'd like to work towards something in that spectrum on a much smaller scale. Please give me any advice, I'd like to book these classes asap Obviously getting involved with SQL and things that I will require would be important here.. you guys know better than me! Thanks!

• Need help in determing what, if any, tools can be used to create a free Flash game

  Yes I proudly -and sadly- declare that I am a complete nincompoop when it comes to Flash, and I have been fishing around the big wide web for information. The reason for this is that I have been contracted to create a game(s) for a website -the usual flash-based games caveat. Please I do not mean things like by those gaming generator websites, I mean small yet professional games- but the caveat, as always, is that impossible dream: it needs to be done all for free. The budget...well imagine it as not there. Annoyingly is that I am a game designer yes, but with a ridiculously tight deadline I haven't got much time to re-learn (ah the heady days of programming at uni) everything by the end of March, so I'd like to ask some people who know their stuff rather than keep looking at a gazillion different things. This is my understanding: with the flash sdk you can create a game, albeit you need to be pretty programming savvy. FlashDevelop helps there -yet I am not entirely sure how. Yet even FD says to use Flash for the animation/graphics. Yes its undeniably powerful but as I said there is the unattainable demand of no money. The million dollar question: what, if any, tools can I use to create a free flash game?

  I'm new to to Linux, in this particular case, to Ubuntu. I have a small android project I have to finnish until this Friday and I'm still stuck with the install and preparing of the development envrironment. The only thing I did was install the Eclipse IDE. I'm still missing the SDK, JAVA and anything else that might be needed. Can someone help me through this? It's only because I'm running out of time to develop, or else I would embarc on a deeper investigation of this OS.   The dense forest of Amazon is not only the land of rare species and trees but also a home of many tribal communities who were never contacted by civilized humans. Recently BBC along with Survival International Group (a tribal advocacy group) scanned the dense Brazilian jungle and discovered an uncontacted tribal group believed to be Panoa Indians. They live in resource rich areas which are primary targets of mining & logging industries. In order to unearth the resources, often these tribes shot dead or chased away to new lands. The video footage and photographs of the tribes are released to bring awareness about these tribes and also urge governments to take necessary steps to protect them. Tess Thackara, Survival International’s U.S. coordinator says We’re trying to bring awareness to uncontacted tribes, because they are so vulnerable.   On March 10th, 2012 the first ever PowerShell Saturday conference took place in Columbus, OH and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.  We had 100 attendees from 10 different states (the biggest surprise to me) come to see 6 speakers present on a variety of PowerShell topics: introduction, WMI, SharePoint, Active Directory, Exchange, 3rd party products and more.      A big thank you also goes out to a number of people. • How to fix bad Collada produced by FBX?

  I tried to use the FBX SDK (2011.3.1) to load FBX files and save them as Collada files in order to be able to import FBX files in Panda3D. Unfortunately the resulting Collada files are not usable for several reasons, among them: There's a Maya specific extra technique diffuse <diffuse> <texture texture="Map__2-image" texcoord="CHANNEL0"> <extra> <technique profile="MAYA"> <wrapU sid="wrapU0">TRUE</wrapU> <wrapV sid="wrapV0">TRUE</wrapV> <blend_mode>ADD</blend_mode> </technique> </extra> </texture> </diffuse> It assigns a texcoord channel name that isn't referenced anywhere else in the file (in the previous code sample, no geometry uses "CHANNEL0"...) Every polygon is exported twice, a first time with a basic material (only diffuse color, specular color, etc.) and a second time with a textured material -- this doubles the number of polygons of each model without any valuable reason Anyway, the resulting Collada file cannot be opened correctly either with OpenCOLLADA or Panda3D's "dae2egg". Anyone has any experience on how to "fix" it and make it understandable by common and well-reputed Collada importers such as OpenCOLLADA?
