  • Any active Bold for Delphi users ?

    What are you using as a persistance framework when programming in Delphi? If the application is growing it soon became really complicated to handle the model in SQL ? Bold is a persistance framework for Delphi win32 that really deserve more attention. I use it daily and using OCL instead of SQL to get data from the database saves a lot of time and debugging. When the model is changed Bold translate this to an SQL script and change the database. EDIT: For those that are interested in Bold for Delphi I have spend this evening on create a site on Google about it. I'm not a guru in html so the design is maybe not so exciting.   • How to practically customize IE context menu?

    I need to add one menu item in IE context menu. It is similar with Google customized context menu "Search Google for xxx" when you right click on IE. I did a research and found that overriding IDocHostUIHandler::ShowContextMenu in a IE BHO can customized IE context menu. The sample project can be found in Popup blocker project published in codeproject. It works well and is easy to implement. However this approach has a problem. The problem is it will conflict with other add-ons' context menu customization per MSDN. In MSDN Internet Explorer Center forum, there are some discussions about this topic. However there is not a proper implementation posted. If anybody has experience on this, please share your idea. Thanks!

    This is a simple question, but I can't work it out. The specifics aren't important, but here's the gist. I have some code like this: var lat = 0; var lon = 0; if (navigator.geolocation) { navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(function(position) { lat = position.coords.latitude; lon = position.coords.longitude; }); } What I think it's doing is: Set lat and lon to 0 If the browser has geolocation, overwrite those variables with real values However, at the end of that chunk, lat and lon are still 0. I've tried adding vars, passing lat and lon to the function etc but with no success... How do I make this work?

    I have a task to validate addresses entered into a system I am currently creating. The system requires that address entered are validated against a valid data source. In the UK the dataset comes from the Royal Mail and is expensive to access. The data needed is post code info for the whold of europe to start with accessed by an API into the web application. There are a number of companies that offer this service, QAS Capscan Postcode anywhere These all offer the service I require. However this is expensive and in some cases not a complete data set. e.g. not Ireland I was also wondering if there would be a way to utalis the google maps API to validate this data via postal code and country. Would the google maps method be possible or do I have to go down the line of one of these expensive companies? Any thoughts on what line I should take.

I know that in normal scenario there may be machine dedicated to this task, but I would like to know how is it resolved in realy big aplication with hundreds of thousans people accessing it in any given time. I am just wondering how exactly when one types google.com will that request find its way to concrete computer (are there multiple load balancers? and how is it set up and implemented that user's request will find the way to concrete balancer out of many others).   • C - Discard the edges of an arbitrary level of a multidimensional array

    I have some geographical data, that I'm trying to parse into a usable format. The data is kept in NetCDF files, and is read out as a multidimensional array. My problem comes because the source of the geographical data has a strip of longitude on each side of the grid that overlaps the other side. That is, I have a longitude point of -1 degree, and another of 361 degrees. Unfortunately, I've got time, latitude, and sometimes height as dimensions in this array as well, and I have no way of predicting in advance where each dimension will be in the list (or if it's a three dimensional array, or a four dimensional array). Further complicating the problem, the array can be of floats, doubles or integers, so I have to pass it around as a void. Are there any NetCDF tools that I can use to pre-prepare the files? If not, how would you suggest I go about stripping the excess longitudes?

    Hello, I am new to using the geography types in SQL Server 2008. I have a table in my database called "Location". "Location" has the following columns and types: Location -------- City nvarchar(256) State nvarchar(256) PostalCode nvarchar(25) Latitude decimal(9, 6) Longitude decimal(9, 6) Each Location is related to a Store record in my database. I am trying to find the stores within a 10 mile radius or postal code or city/state that a user enters. To accomplish this, I know that I need to rely on geographies. At this time I have: DECLARE @startingPoint geography; SET @startingPoint=geography::STGeomFromText('POINT(-122.34900 47.65100)', 4326); That gives me the starting point from a hard-coded textual value. However, I do not know how to convert a lat/long from my Location table into a geography instance. How do I convert a lat/long in my database to a geography instance so I can continue to work on my query? Thank you!

I have written a native application for Android phones, which is actually an adaptation of the actual web site. Now, I am required to setup Analytics and tracking for this native application. Question: How to do setup a native application for Analytics? We have Java Script code(not Google Analytics but for some other engine) that works for the original web site. Is there a way to incorporate that in the native application? I know Android supports Java Script via WebViews(Webkit);my application does not have webviews, it is native!   • Question about [literally] mapping location based on an IP address.

    I've been bored lately and I want to start a new project. I was looking at a website mentioned in a different question (http://www.grapevinegame.com/), and I thought the map and how it plots a point based on someone's IP (I assume) is pretty nifty. I want to do something like that, but I have no idea how it's done. I know you can get latitude and longitude, city and state, and some more with some already-written scripts, but how would you plot those on a map of the world? I've seen it other places, like Google Analytics and such, as well. It seems like a neat thing to be able to do, so I was just wondering how exactly it works. :-p.
