    i just tried to move from helios to maven with my gwt 2.4 application. so i began to follow the steps here: http://code.google.com/p/google-web-toolkit/wiki/WorkingWithMaven but on step 3 - installing the feature "m2e connector for build-helper-maven-plugin" i get an error from Eclipse: Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.     hello, From past few days I'm trying to develop a regex that fetch all the external links from the web pages given to it using grep. Here is my grep command grep -h -o -e "\(\(mailto:\|\(\(ht\|f\)tp\(s\?\)\)\)\://\)\{1\}\(.*\?\)" "/mnt/websites_folder/folder_to_search" -r now the grep seem to return everything after the external links in that given line Example if an html file contain something like this on same line GoogleYahoo then the given grep command return the following result http://www.google.com">Google</a><p><a href='https://yahoo.com'>Yahoo</a></p> the idea here is that if an html file contain more than one links(`irrespective in a,img etc`) in same line then the regex should fetch only the links and not all content of that line I managed to developed the same in rubular.com the regex is as follow ("|')(\b((ht|f)tps?:\/\/)(.*?)\b)("|') with work with the above input but iam not able to replicate the same in grep can anyone help I can't modify the html file so don't ask me to do that neither I can look for each specific tags and check their attributes to to get external links as it addup processing time and my application doesn't demand that Thank You

  • Android NDK Question

    The NDK does not contain very many shared libraries for you to access. As a result, I must build many sources myself and link them into my shared library via static/shared libraries. I want to compile libpng as a Static Library. Trouble is, I have absolutely no idea how, nor does google instruct you how to do so in their NDK. I'm no expert on the NDK even after reading everything I can find, so I would really appreciate someone who actually knows how this is done. I do have the Android.mk file for libpng, as google's Android OS source contains it. Infact, I got the entire directory on the android OS source for libpng and it's dependent libraries. It was somewhat of a shortcut instead of making one myself. I don't know how to make a particular directory which contains this file, though. Thanks for reading!

  • Need recommendation for transferring ASP.NET MVC skills to PHP

    I am looking to translate my skills in .NET to PHP - specifically in regards to ASP.NET MVC. At work I am currently using .NET MVC 2.0 on a variety of projects and thoroughly enjoy the platform. Specifically I enjoy the very minimal configuration required to get a project up and running (just create the project, define routes, and start coding), as well as the ability for controller actions to return different items (i.e. ActionResult, JsonResult). Another piece I really like is the way the view/model interaction can be handled. For example I like being able to call return View(model) and having a view page (.aspx) load and having the full model object available to the view, regardless of the model type. I'm looking for a PHP implementation of MVC that is the most similiar to what I am already familiar with. I don't anything apart from the MVC functionality. I've looked at Zend, Symfony, CodeIgniter, etc. and, while they look like they'll be fun to play with in the future, they provide much more functionality than I need. I'd prefer to write my own DAL, form helpers, delegate handlers, authentication/ACL pieces, etc. In short, I just need something to handle the routing and view interactions and will worry about the model implementation myself. Can someone please point me to some lightweight code that accomplishes or comes close to accomplishing my objectives above. Or, can someone identify just the portions of a larger framework that do the same (again, I'm not currently interested in implementing something on a big framework, just the MVC portion and want to implement the model portion myself as much as possible).   • Including libraries in project. Best practise.

    Hi guys, I'm writing a Python open-source app. My app uses some open source Python libraries. These libraries in turn use other open-source libraries. I intend to release my code at Sourceforge or Google Code but do I need to include the sources of the other libraries? Is this a good practice? ...or should I simply write this information into a README file informing the use about the other required libraries. I've placed all these libraries into a libs sub folder in my source directory. When checking my code into SVN, should I use something called svn:externals to link to other sources? Is there a way to dynamically update my libraries to the latest version or is this something I have to do manually when I release a new version. My sincerest apologies if my question sounds vague but I'm pretty lost in this matter and I don't know what to Google for. Thanks all.

    I am trying to use marker.setIcon() to change a markers image. However it appears that although this changes the marker.iconUrl attribute the icon itself is using marker.proprietary_marker.$.icon.image to display the markers image - so the markers icon remains unchanged. Is there a way to dynamically change the marker.proprietary_marker.$.icon.image? Add a marker. Check the icon's image url and the proprietary icon's image - they're the same. Change the icon. Again check the Urls.     While updating my apps to Kitkat, I just wanted to give them a gorgeous look on KitKat using the Translucent property: Translucent system bars You can now make the system bars partially translucent with new themes, Theme.Holo.NoActionBar.TranslucentDecor and Theme.Holo.Light.NoActionBar.TranslucentDecor. By enabling translucent system bars, your layout will fill the area behind the system bars, so you must also enable [fitsSystemWindows][4] for the portion of your layout that should not be covered by the system bars. My only concern is that I would like to use an ActionBar which sounds the opposite of what Google wants (both theme have NoActionBar: Theme.Holo.NoActionBar.TranslucentDecor Theme.Holo.Light.NoActionBar.TranslucentDecor As I don't plan to use some hacks or tricks to make it work, I just wanted to know if there was some correct way to achieve this or if this would be against Google guidelines.

    Can a user connect to my web site using an Orkut account ? Just like Google Friend Connect or Facebook, but with Orkut. The idea is, the user goes to my web site, I have a "Connect using Orkut" button there, on click takes him to the Orkut login page, once s/he logins and grants access to my app, get's redirected to my web site with the Orkut ID as a parameter. The same procedure that works for Google Friend Connect and also Facebook Connect.... I haven't seen an example of this with Orkut. Can it be done ? Is there an Orkut Connect or similar ? If there is one such example could you please give me a link to it ? A sample in c# would be excellent, but I would be happy with a sample in any language. Any help will be appreciated

  • Panning with the OpenGL Camera / View Matrix

    I'm gonna try this again I've been trying to setup a simple camera class with OpenGL but I'm completely lost and I've made zero progress creating anything useful. I'm using modern OpenGL and the glm library for matrix math. To get the most basic thing I can think of down, I'd like to pan an arbitrarily positioned camera around. That means move it along its own Up and Side axes. Here's a picture of a randomly positioned camera looking at an object: It should be clear what the Up (Green) and Side (Red) vectors on the camera are. Even though the picture shows otherwise, assume that the Model matrix is just the identity matrix. Here's what I do to try and get it to work: Step 1: Create my View/Camera matrix (going to refer to it as the View matrix from now on) using glm::lookAt(). Step 2: Capture mouse X and Y positions. Step 3: Create a translation matrix mapping changes in the X mouse position to the camera's Side vector, and mapping changes in the Y mouse position to the camera's Up vector. I get the Side vector from the first column of the View matrix. I get the Up vector from the second column of the View matrix. Step 4: Apply the translation: viewMatrix = glm::translate(viewMatrix,translationVector); But this doesn't work. I see that the mouse movement is mapped to some kind of perpendicular axes, but they're definitely not moving as you'd expect with respect to the camera. Could someone please explain what I'm doing wrong and point me in the right direction with this camera stuff?

  • What are the factors affecting a new programming language?

    I am developing a new general-purpose programming language of my own design. It's currently my own personal project. I have read of some experts saying that new languages do not usually survive (unfortunately I can't find a reference to that right now). What are the most substantial problems that a new language faces? The language syntax is similar to C/Python families, it does not use S-expressions, and it is an imperative language, but I'm doing first-class functions in it to provide the facilities of currying. In particular, I am concentrating on translating the source language to an intermediate language for execution by an interpreter, but I'm not in a position to translate to native code yet. What would be the issues with that? I've not personally used many non-native code languages, so I'm not well aware of the performance issues on today's machines. I also can't decide upon a lexer and parser generator. What would be the pros and cons of Flex and Yacc vs. hand-made? And what benefits will LLVM provide? I need to get the interpreter ready as quickly as possible. Finally, what factors will affect the language's use post release? I am planning a small library of essentials and full documentation for the first phase.

Does anyone have an official guide that they typically use? Here are two that I found.   • Should we have a database independent SQL like query language in Django?

    Note : I know we have Django ORM already that keeps things database independent and converts to the database specific SQL queries. Once things starts getting complicated it is preferred to write raw SQL queries for better efficiency. When you write raw sql queries your code gets trapped with the database you are using. I also understand its important to use the full power of your database that can-not be achieved with the django orm alone. My Question : Until I use any database specific feature, why should one be trapped with the database. For instance : We have a query with multiple joins and we decided to write a raw sql query. Now, that makes my website postgres specific. Even when I have not used any postgres specific feature. I feel there should be some fake sql language which can translate to any database's sql query. Even Django's ORM can be built over it. So, that if you go out of ORM but not database specific - you can still remain database independent. I asked the same question to Jacob Kaplan Moss (In person) : He advised me to stay with the database that I like and endure its whole power, to which I agree. But my point was not that we should be database independent. My point is we should be database independent until we use a database specific feature. Please explain, why should be there a fake sql layer over the actual sql ?

  • Web/HTML: how do referrer work technically?

    I don't understand how comes webserver and trackers like Google Analytics are able to track referrals. Is it part of HTTP? Is it some (un)specified behavior of the browsers? Apparently everytime you click on a link on a webpage, the original webpage is passed along the request. What is the exact mechanism behind that? Is it specified by some spec? I've read a few docs and I've played with my own Tomcat server and my own Google Analytics account, but I don't understand how the "magic" happens. Bonus (totally related) question: if, on my own website (served by Tomcat), I put a link to another site, does the other site see my website as the "referrer" without me doing anything special in Tomcat?

  • Wordpress main website and mobile website duplicate content.

    Basically a client has asked for his WordPress website to be turned into a mobile website as well. I have never attempted this and know nothing about SEO. However the issue has arisen that this may cause duplicate content issues with Google, and therefore both sites may be dropped in the rankings. I was looking at turning the website into a mobile site via one of the available WordPress mobile website plugins. My question is if duplicate content will be an issue? Has anyone ever tried this? After doing some reading I kind of think it may be possible to tell Google not to index the mobile website, although as I understand it It would be the same set of files. So I am unsure that if I tell it not to index one of them, that it will drop the other one as well. Can anyone with WordPress and SEO knowledge clear this up for me?

After a year based on my permalink structure, all posts were in the root so have been picked up by Google as: snowmenu.com/postname Since changing my categories and permalink structure, I need the years worth of posts on Google to be redirected to: snowmenu.com/ski-snowboard-winter-sports-news/postname Is there a way to make this happen via .htaccess?     Here is a handy list of translation and localization-related resources for user experience professionals. Following these will help you design an easily translatable user experience. Most of the references here are for web pages or software. Fundamentally, remember your designs will be consumed globally, and never divorce the design process from the development or deployment effort that goes into bringing your designs to life in code. Ask yourself today: Do you know how the text you are using in your designs are delivered to the customer, even in English? Key areas that UX designers always seen to fall foul of, in my space anyway, are: Terminology that is impossible to translate (jargon, multiple modifiers, gerunds) or is used inconsistently Poorly written, verbose text (really, just write well in English, no special considerations) String construction (concatenation of parts assembled dynamically) Composite widget positioning (my favourite) Hard-coded fonts, small font sizes, or character formatting or casing that doesn't work globally Format that is not separate from content Restricted real estate not allowing for text expansion in translation Forcing formatting with breaks, and hard-coding alphabetical sorting Graphics that do not work in Bi-Di languages (because they indicate directionality and can't flip) or contain embedded text.   • OpenGL camera moves faster than player

    I have a side scroller game made in OpenGL, and I'm trying to center the player in the viewport when he moves. I know how to do it: cameraX = Width / 2 / TileSize - playerPosX cameraY = Height / 2 / TileSize - playerPosY However, I have a problem. The player and "camera" move, but the player moves faster than the "camera" scrolls. So, the player can actually move out of the screen. Some code, this is how I translate the camera: public Camera(){ } public void update(Player p){ glTranslatef(-p.getPos().x - Main.WIDTH / 64 / 2, -p.getPos().y - Main.HEIGHT / 64 / 2, 1); } Here's how I move the player: public void update(){ if(Keyboard.isKeyDown(Keyboard.KEY_D)){ this.move(MOVESPEED, 0); } if(Keyboard.isKeyDown(Keyboard.KEY_A)){ this.move(-MOVESPEED, 0); } } The move method: public void move(float x, float y){ this.getPos().set(this.getPos().x + x, this.getPos().y + y); } And then after I move the player, I update the player's geometry, which shouldn't matter. What am I doing wrong here, this seems like such a simple problem, yet it doesn't work!

  • glm quaternion camera rotating on wrong axis

    I'm trying to get my camera implemented with a glm::quat used to store the rotation. However, whenever I do circles with the mouse, the camera rotates along the axis I am viewing (i.e. I think it's called the target axis). For example, if I rotated the mouse in a clockwise fashion, the camera rotates clockwise around the axis. I initialize my quaternion like so: void Camera::initialize() { orientationQuaternion_ = glm::quat(); orientationQuaternion_ = glm::normalize(orientationQuaternion_); } I rotate like so: void Camera::rotate(const glm::detail::float32& degrees, const glm::vec3& axis) { orientationQuaternion_ = orientationQuaternion_ * glm::normalize(glm::angleAxis(degrees, axis)); } and I set the viewMatrix like so: void Camera::render() { glm::quat temp = glm::conjugate(orientationQuaternion_); viewMatrix_ = glm::mat4_cast(temp); viewMatrix_ = glm::translate(viewMatrix_, glm::vec3(-pos_.x, -pos_.y, -pos_.z)); } The only axis' I actually try to rotate are the X and Y axis (i.e. (1,0,0) and (0,1,0)). Anyone have any idea why I see my camera rotating around the target axis?

  • Running Awk command on a cluster

    How do you execute a Unix shell command (awk script, a pipe etc) on a cluster in parallel (step 1) and collect the results back to a central node (step 2) Hadoop seems to be a huge overkill with its 600k LOC and its performance is terrible (takes minutes just to initialize the job) i don't need shared memory, or - something like MPI/openMP as i dont need to synchronize or share anything, don't need a distributed VM or anything as complex Google's SawZall seems to work only with Google proprietary MapReduce API some distributed shell packages i found failed to compile, but there must be a simple way to run a data-centric batch job on a cluster, something as close as possible to native OS, may be using unix RPC calls i liked rsync simplicity but it seem to update remote notes sequentially, and you cant use it for executing scripts as afar as i know switching to Plan 9 or some other network oriented OS looks like another overkill i'm looking for a simple, distributed way to run awk scripts or similar - as close as possible to data with a minimal initialization overhead, in a nothing-shared, nothing-synchronized fashion Thanks Alex
