• Creating has_many relationships in ActiveRecord without :primary_key

  I'm working with an older version of Rails and ActiveRecord that does not have the :primary_key option in has_many relationships of more recent ActiveRecord versions and unfortunately I don't get to control when we upgrade. Is there any way to hack this solution via :conditions or :finder_sql options?

  I want to use OpenGL in my WndProc but I'm not sure how. I also don't want GL to occupy the whole screen, just a portion of the screen. In the end I basically want to make a drawing win32 app but use OGL instead of GDI. so how can I tell GL to use my control (a panel) 's hdc for drawing? Thanks

  My Herb Schildt book on C++ says: "... In C++, if a function is declared as returning a value, it must return a value." However, if I write a function with a non-void return type and do not return anything, the compiler issues a warning instead of an error: "Control reaches end of non-void function." I use gcc (MinGW) and have set the -pedantic flag.

As a normal user, you could edit the "User variables" but not the "System variables". • Problem using FormView to insert.

  I have a formview control, and on the ItemCreated event, I am "priming" some of the fields with default values. However, when I try to use the formview to insert, before the ItemInserting event gets called, for some reason it calls ItemCreated first. That results in the fields being over-written with the default values right before the insert happens. How do I get it to not call the ItemCreated event before the ItemInserting event?

  As I understand it, a group-box is just another control. Controls inside it are not owned by it, so unlike in Winforms, if you move a group-box the contained controls stay put. What would be the nicest way to address this? Just create your own data-structure mapping controls to 'container' group-boxes so that when the container is moved the children are automatically moved?
