• "find" command and piping its output through another program

  this is not an Ubuntu specific quesion, it applies to all unix/linux. how can I run a command like this: find . -maxdepth 1 -type d -print -exec svn info "{}" | grep URL \; the command above doesn't do what I want, I can't seem to pipe the output of the svn info to grep. This works, but the output contains much more than I need: find . -maxdepth 1 -type d -print -exec svn info "{}" \; Any ideas?

• Mobile traffic of my second site redirected to my base site [Edited,have a look]

  I have a strange issue with my website and it seems i am unable to understand what cauese the problem.I would highly appreciate your help.The Scenario is I have two websites. Website A Website B Website A is simply hosted within the root directory of my hosting account.Within this root *directory* i have a sub folder " subfolder A " and within which is another subfolder " subfolder B " that contains my site Website B so the path looks like root/sublfolder_A/subfolder_B/ that contains my **Website B ( i.e subfolder_B) ** All goes fine.When i access the website B from my desktop/Laptop Website B is loaded normally. but when i access the Website through a mobile device , mobile site of Website A is loaded while as it should load website_B Also , to let you know , both websites have different URL's and not subdomain's or anything. What could be the problem ? htaccess of website B or website A ? or something else ? • IIS isn't propagating domain

  I called Godaddy and 'verified' my settings for the two ips were correct. ns1.asezo.com = xx.xx.xx.15 ns2.asezo.com = xx.xx.xx.16 then I set the nameserver of asezo.com to the ns1/ns2 above, which Godaddy tech support says is right. When I try to visit my site, it says Oops! Google Chrome could not find asezo.com. When I try to ping the website, it gives me a time out. I have the bindings in IIS for the default website as: http - xx.xx.xx.15 - 80 www.asezo.com and http - xx.xx.xx.15 - 80 asezo.com And I'm still getting nothing. I can go directly to the ip http://xx.xx.xx.15/ and it gives me the IIS default website, I just can't get the url to propagate. What am I doing wrong?

• Disqus thread migration. Gotchas?

  I've been migrating a site to a new domain. The site itself is pretty straightforward (it uses Jekyll), and everything has gone fine -- except migration of Disqus threads. I've had partial success -- some of the threads have migrated successfully, but not all. I've tried the domain migration wizard (which caught a few), the URL mapper (which caught a few), and the 301 redirect crawler (which caught a few). But the remaining threads just won't move, no matter which method I use. So, I suppose I suppose I'm asking if there are any "gotchas" I should know about with this. When you execute any of these migration tools, it says it will "take awhile." Does that mean hours? Days? I can't tell if it's working, and there's no logging or error reporting that I can see.

• Stop Google Analytics from appending hostname?

  I've come across an Analytics profile that is appending the rest of a URL to the end of a page's path. For example when looking at the page that exists at http://example.com/page I would expect to see /page but instead it shows me /page/http://example.com/. The profile has no filters applied to it, and until July was reporting as expected (/page), in July the site in question switched hosts (and absolutely nothing else, so I'm not sure that's the problem). The analytics code on the site is the standard Google Async code with a domain set. All other profiles for the site show /page as expected. Any ideas as to how I can get the profile to function as expected?

  I did a fresh install of 12.04 and it went fine, worked on it for several days, but one day the browser crashed and i reset the machine, after that I get this error when i boot; error: no device connected error: no device connected error: no device connected error: no device connected This comes after the BIOS confirmation, and it stays for about 30 seconds, then the grub menu comes and when I selected the default the screen becomes purple and stays like that for a whole Minuit. I thought maybe that is because I have 500GB HDD so i ran the boot-repair, It did nothing at all. I'm sure I did the boot-repair thing right, sorry I forgot the paste URL. If i reinstalled will this error persist.

• Calling a web service through a reverse proxy

  I had a w/s that when I first read the WSDL in test, was http, but needed to be accessed from behind a reverse proxy with https.  Here are the steps: Change the app.config, <httpTransport> to <httpsTransport> Change the app.config and the url address in the <endpoint>to the reverse proxy address Add System.Net.ServicePointManager.ServerCertificateValidationCallback = delegate { return true; };  to disable certificate validation.  This will validate all certificates (including invalid, expired or self-signed ones).

When my site comes up in a Google search, there are 2 links displayed underneath: I believe these links are called "Google sitemap" and my question is how to configure them in Wordpress. Because while the right link is pointing to the /ueber-mich URL at the website, the left link was pointing to an non-existing /imprint and I had to add that webpage as a workaround for now. And I'd like to change the /imprint to German /impressum anyway (currently I use mod_rewrite to redirect).

• Browser problem for background-size property [migrated]

• Ubuntu Server Wireless connection issue - replaced router but kept ESSID

  I have a ubuntu server 12.04 which was connected to my wireless network with no problem I replaced the wireless router but kept the ESSID and password the same. All other devices on network have connected correctly. However the Ubuntu Server will not route correctly. It will connect to the wifi router, and get a dhcp served IP address, however it will not route anything. I cannot ping the router from the server. the contents of /etc/resolve.conf are updated with the information from the router, (the host name has been served) I know there is nothing wrong with the router or the server, or the wireless card etc. I'm assuming there's some cached setting that associates the old router with the ESSID and causing the issue. I've got a lot of other devices connected to the router, so don't want to change the name of the ESSID. How do I fix this? • Need to setup and access web disk for a hosting account

  I am on linux(ubuntu 12.04) and have purchased a hosting space. In the cpanel, I selected nautilus for accessing web-disk and I was given a note: Note: In order for the Web Disk to work, you will need to allow port 2078 (SSL) or 2077 (non-SSL) on your computer's firewall. As, I am unable to connect to this, i.e. on entering the given url in Nautilus address bar, it says 'Connection closed'. So, I believe the above this quoted is not correctly configured. Please let me know, how to configure this? How to allow the given port access?

• HTML5 - check if font has loaded

  At present I load my font for my game in with @font-face For instance: @font-face { font-family: 'Orbitron'; src: url('res/orbitron-medium.ttf'); } and then reference it throughout my JS implementation as such: ctx.font = "12pt Orbitron"; where ctx is my 2d context from the canvas. However, I notice a certain lag time while the font is downloaded to the user. Is there a way I can use a default font until it is loaded in? Edit - I'll expand the question, because I hadn't taken the first comment into account. What would the proper method of handling this be in the case that a user has disabled custom fonts?

• htaccess 301 redirect help needed

  Due to some issues in my site many pages are visible as duplicate using : www.example.com/page.html?task=view but it's content is exactly same as www.example.com/page.html. One way is to use http 301 redirect from www.example.com/page.html?task=view to www.example.com/page.html when anybody fetches page with arguments. But links like www.example.com/page.html?task=view will remain visible to outside world. Another way is canonicalization which I don't want to use as it is difficult to insert the tag in Joomla CMS. I want to hide www.example.com/page.html?task=view from external world. Is it possible to change the url from www.example.com/page.html?task=view to www.example.com/page.html ? I mean if there is href link of www.example.com/page.html?task=view in my web page, it should be visible to external world as without any arguments. This is different from using 301 to convert externally accessed page : www.example.com/page.html?task=view to without using arguments in .htaccess.

I have uploaded sitemap vai google webmaster tools many times. • Client cannot access my IIS7 web server

  I have a Windows 2008 web server on running IIS 7 with about 25 websites. One of those sites is an SaaS application that is accessed constantly throughout the day. However, one particular client keeps getting blocked from my server. They will be using the service, and then all of a sudden they cannot access the program, or any other site on the server. The entire office of 4 users is blocked from accessing anything on the web server. A trace route reveals they get all the way to the server before they are blocked. However, they can access a linux server that is a different VM with a different IP on the same physical server. Also, when they are blocked from their office, they can still access the site from their mobile phone or local Starbucks. They can also occasionally reset the router and gain access to the web server again as they are on a dynamic IP address. I checked IIS and allow all IPs to access the server. There is nothing in the logs the says anything about a user being banned. I really have no idea what is causing this? Could it be a virus on their end? I have even moved the SaaS to a completely new server in a different location, and they were working fine for about a month, and then the problem started occurring again. Are there any hidden blacklists in IIS? Or is it a routing issue on their end?

• Notify user of message arrival in another mailbox

  This is very similar to this question but has a few differences. Basically we have a user dealing with a conflict of interest case. To separate the mail from prying eyes (and the draconian routing system we have in place) the user has been granted access to a second conflicts mailbox that is only accessible to him via OWA. This has worked fine for years but now the user would like a notification to be sent to him when a message arrives in his conflicts mailbox. Initially I thought an Outlook rule would work but of course the client is never logged in so the Outlook rules are never processed. This led me to think that an Exchange Transport rule might work but the only options I can see are to Forward or Copy the message to another user. this would bypass the conflicts setup. All I really need is a notification and not the actual message to be sent. Is this at all possible with Exchange 2007? Or if not is there any thirdparty addition or workaround that anyone has come across?

  I have two different versions of my site. A desktop version and a mobile optimised version. That is for the same url the server renders different html for different user agents. I had been using vary header for this scheme as recommended by Google. However, now i want to move the mobile website to a single page application for several reasons. I want to know if google stops seeing anything on my mobile web version but the desktop version continues to work as it is, then how would the search rank be impacted given that mobile web gets more traffic than the desktop version. • Drive By Download Issue

  I'm getting a drive by download issue reported on www.cottonsandwichquiltshop.com/catalog/index.php?manufacturers_id=19&sort=2a&filterid=61 reported from safeweb.norton.com when I scan the root url. I have dug through the entire site architecture, and code base and removed a few files that were malicious, i upgraded the site's framework and fixed the security holes (mostly sql injection concerns)..... However this one threat still exists and I can't locate it for the life of me, or find any valid research or information on removing this type of threat at the server level, mostly just a bunch of anti-virus software wanting to sell you on their ability to manage it on the client end. PLEASE HELP Thanks.

• DRY, string, and unit testing

  I have a recurring question when writing unit tests for code that involves constant string values. Let's take an example of a method/function that does some processing and returns a string containing a pre-defined constant. In python, that would be something like: STRING_TEMPLATE = "/some/constant/string/with/%s/that/needs/interpolation/" def process(some_param): # We do some meaningful work that gives us a value result = _some_meaningful_action() return STRING_TEMPLATE % result If I want to unit test process, one of my tests will check the return value. This is where I wonder what the best solution is. In my unit test, I can: apply DRY and use the already defined constant repeat myself and rewrite the entire string def test_foo_should_return_correct_url(): string_result = process() # Applying DRY and using the already defined constant assert STRING_TEMPLATE % "1234" == string_result # Repeating myself, repeating myself assert "/some/constant/string/with/1234/that/needs/interpolation/" == url The advantage I see in the former is that my test will break if I put the wrong string value in my constant. The inconvenient is that I may be rewriting the same string over and over again across different unit tests.

• Upload image file: is compression on client side already possible?

  When offering photo file uploading, usually the user will have badly compressed and huge (10+ megapixels) JPEG files from their cameras or phones. On the server side, these files will get re-compressed to something like 800x600px and JPEG quality 7 or 8. Is it (already) possible to do that re-compression on the client side? So that I would only need to transmit some 100kB (800x600px) and not 3 MB or more. Something like: (1) With javascript's new FileSystem API ( http://slides.html5rocks.com/#filewriter ) it would be possible to read the photo file's data into client side JS. (2) Then it would be necessary to re-encode the JPEG data, which is possible, but I counld not find any library for that (yet). Anybody knows such a library? (3) Last step would be to POST the re-compressed JPEG data to the server side for storage and get a URL to the stored photo file back from the server for inclusion into the client's HTML. I am looking for some jQuery plugin, other JS library or example web page that does this.

  I have a Linux machine with two network interfaces, and I'd like to get the IP address of the PPP interface w1g1 but it doesn't show up in ifconfig. • Use both OpenVPN & eth0 together

  I connect to a VPN using openVPN. Now, after the connection is established, all my traffic goes through tun0. My LAN gateway is 10.100.98.4... So, for apps to use my direct internet connnection I did sudo route add default gw 10.100.98.4 But, I cant use tun0 now. I know this because curl --interface tun0 google.com doesnt give me anything.. How do I go about using both connections simultaneously. How can I achieve that?
