How to avoid this?     Hi, I'm running through the Ruby on Rails tutorial at http://guides.rubyonrails.org/getting_started.html (adjusting where appropriate for Google's App Engine). All is well up till section 6.3: when I try to click "New Post", I get the following error: Internal Server Error (500) Request Method: GET Request URL: http://localhost:8080/500.html access denied (java.io.FilePermission /dev/urandom read) It works fine when I upload the application to Google's App Engine; it's just on my development machine (OS X 10.6) that it doesn't work.   • Rails, Edit page update in a window

    I have my code working so that I have a table of businesses. There's a pencil icon you can click on the edit the business information. The edit information comes up in a partial inside of a modal pop up box. The only problem is that once they make the changes they want and click update, it sends them to the 'show' page for that business. What I want to happen is have the pop up box close and have it update the information. This is my update function in my controller. def update @business = Business.find(params[:id]) respond_to do |format| if @business.update_attributes(params[:business]) flash[:notice] = 'Business was successfully updated.' format.html { redirect_to(business_url(@business)) } format.js else format.html { render :action => "edit" } format.xml { render :xml => @business.errors, :status => :unprocessable_entity } end end end I tried following railscast 43 and i created an .rjs file but I couldn't get that to work at all. My update was still taking me to the show page. Any help would be appreciated.     What is the preferred method of refreshing a combo box when the data changes? If a form is open and the combo box data is already loaded, how do you refresh the contents of the combo box without the form having to be closed and reloaded? Do you have to do something on the Click event on the combo box? This would seem to be a potential slow down for the app if there is a hit to the database every time someone clicks on a combo box.

This capability is very similar to the TotalCommander archive plugin that let you browse inside archive files in-place (without the need to extract them, etc...) Any ideas how it could be done?     In trying to learn JavaScript closures, I've confused myself a bit. From what I've gathered over the web, a closure is... Declaring a function within another function, and that inner function has access to its parent function's variables, even after that parent function has returned.
