• Please Explain Drupal schema and drupal_write_record

  Hi. A few questions. 1) Where is the best place to populate a new database table when a module is first installed, enabled? I need to go and get some data from an external source and want to do it transparently when the user installs/enables my custom module. I create the schema in {mymodule}_schema(), do drupal_install_schema({tablename}); in hook_install. Then I try to populate the table in hook_enable using drupal_write_record. I confirmed the table was created, I get no errors when hook_enable executes, but when I query the new table, I get no rows back--it's empty. • Fluentemail not working locally but working on server

• How can I have HTML tab expansion in ST2 w/ Emmet inside Handlebars templates(emberjs)?

  Okay, so I'm using Sublime Text 2 with Emmet. But "Tab" expansion of HTML snippets doesn't work inside a script because of the scope. Example: In HTML, I can type "h1" and then hit tab, and it will generate "" When using Ember.js, and more specifically Handlebars, it doesn't work. <script type="text/x-handlebars"> h1 </script> Pressing tab after that "h1" doesn't expand it because it's inside a script; Emmet turns this off. I can press Ctrl+E, which is the "expand anywhere" hotkey, and that works just fine. However, that is uncomfortable and prone to missing and hitting things like Ctrl+S or Ctrl+D which have undesired effects. So, how can I change this? I tweeted at the developer, and got a reply, https://twitter.com/chikuyonok/status/398708331969540096 But couldn't understand what to do.

  I've been fighting this all day. Inside my styles.xml file I have color information given like so: <fgColor theme="0" tint="-0.249977111117893" / ECMA 376 defines a theme color reference as: Index into the <clrScheme collection, referencing a particular <sysClr or <srgbClr value expressed in the Theme part. Ok, that sounds easy. Here is an excerpt from my clrScheme xml: <a:clrScheme name="Office" <a:dk1 <a:sysClr val="windowText" lastClr="000000" / </a:dk1 <a:lt1 <a:sysClr val="window" lastClr="FFFFFF" / </a:lt1 Index zero is black, and they are wanting to darken it? I can tell you that after the tint is applied, the color should be #F2F2F2. My confusion is what does theme="0" really mean? It can't possible mean to darken #000000. Checking MSDN only confuses me even more. From http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd560821.aspx note that the theme color integer begins counting from left to right in the palette starting with zero. Theme color 3 is the dark 2 text/background color. Actually, if you start counting at zero the third entry is Light 2. Dark 2 is the second one. Can anyone here shed some light on this subject for me? What does theme="0" really mean? Here is the VB6 code I have been working with to apply the tint. You can paste it into your vba editor and run the test sub. • Simpler Linq to XML queries with the DLR

  Hi folks, I have a question regarding Linq to XML queries and how we could possibly make them more readable using the new dynamic keyword. At the moment I am writing things like: var result = from p in xdoc.Elements("product") where p.Attribute("type").Value == "Services" select new { ... } What I would like to write is something like: var result = from p in xdoc.Products where p.Type == "Services" select new { ... } I know I can do this with Linq to XSD which is pretty good already, but obviously this requires an XSD schema and I don't always have one. I am sure there should be a way to achieve this using the new dynamic features of .NET 4.0 but I'm not sure how or if anyone already had a go at this. Obviously I would loose some of the advantages of Linq to XSD (typed members and compile time checks) but it wouldn't be worse than the original solution and would certainly be more readable. Anyone has an idea? Thanks

• how to organise my abstraction?

  I have a problem that I can't decide how to best handle, so I'm asking for advice. Please bear with me if my question isn't clear, it is possiblybecause I'm not sure exacly how to solve! I have a set of function that I have in a class. These function are a set of lowest commonality. To be able to run this I need to generate certain info. But this info can arrive with my class from one of 2 routes. I'll try to summarise my situation.... Lets say that I have a class as follows. public class onHoliday(){ private Object modeOfTravel; private Object location; public onHoliday(Object vehicle, Location GPScoords) { private boolean haveFun(){//function to have fun, needs 4 people }//end haveFun() } } Lets imagine I can get to my holiday either by car or by bike. my haveFun() function is dependant my type of vehicle. But only loosely. I have another function that determines my vehicle type, and extracts the required values. for example if I send a car I may get 4 people in one go, but if I send I bike I need at least 2 to get the required 4 I have currently 2 options: Overload my constructor, so as I can send either 2 bikes or a single car into it, then I can call one of 2 intermediate functions (to get the names of my 4 people for instance) before I haveFun() - this is what I am currently doing. split the 2 constructors into 2 separate classes, and repeat my haveFun() in a third class, that becomes an object of my 2 other classes. my problem with this is that my intermediate functions are all but a few lines of code, and I don't want to have them in a separate file! (I allways put classes in separate files!) Please note, my haveFun() isn't something that I'm going to need outside of these 2 classes, or even being onHoliday (ie. there is no chance of me doing some haveFun() over a weekend or of an evening!). I have though about putting haveFun() into an interface, but it seems a bit worthless having an interface with only a single method! Even then I would have to have the method in both of the classes -one for bike and another for car! I have thought about having my onHoliday class accepting any object type, but then I don't want someone accidentally sending in a boat to my onHoliday class (imagine I can't swim, so its not about to happen). It may be important to note that my onHoliday class is package private, and final. It in fact is only accessed via other 'private methods' in other classes, and has only private methods itself.   Greetings, I have 2 textboxs, 2 checkboxs and 2 labels. first textbox, checkbox, and label related to each other and the same for the rest. textbox should accept valid phone number based on jquery validation plugin and when the chackbox check the validation rule would change and in both option the error message would disply inside the label. I would expect the compiler to see that the second argument will be unboxed one way or the other, and judge what method must be invoked depending on the third argument. Why does not this happen? What is the rationale?

• HP to Cisco spanning tree root flapping

  Per a recent question I recently configured both my HP (2x 2900) and Cisco (1x 3750) hardware to use MSTP for interoperability. I thought this was functional until I applied the change to the third device (HP switch 1 below) at which time the spanning tree root started flapping causing performance issues (5% packet loss) between my two HP switches. I'm not sure why. HP Switch 1 A4 connected to Cisco 1/0/1. HP Switch 2 B2 connected to Cisco 2/0/1. HP Switch 1 A2 connected to HP Switch 2 A1. I'd prefer the Cisco stack to act as the root. EDIT: There is one specific line - 'spanning-tree 1 path-cost 500000' in the HP switch 2 that I didn't add and was preexisting. I'm not sure if it could have the kind of impact that I'm describing. I'm more a security and monitoring guy then networking. EDIT 2: I'm starting to believe the problem lies in the fact that the value for my MST 0 instance on the Cisco is still at the default 32768. I worked up a diagram: This is based on every show command I could find for STP. I'll make this change after hours and see if it helps. • Get HDD (and NOT Volume) Serial Number on Vista Ultimate 64 bit

  Hi all. I was once looking for getting the HDD serial number without using WMI, and I found it. The code I found and posted on StackOverFlow.com works very well on 32 bit Windows, both XP and Vista. The trouble only begins when I try to get the serail number on 64 bit OSs (Vista Ultimate 64, specifically). The code returns String.Empty, or a Space all the time. Anyone got an idea how to fix this? • Locating binding errors

  I'm dealing with a large WPF application that is outputting a large number of binding errors. A typical error looks like this: System.Windows.Data Error: 4 : Cannot find source for binding with reference 'RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType='System.Windows.Controls.ItemsControl', AncestorLevel='1''. BindingExpression:Path=HorizontalContentAlignment; DataItem=null; target element is 'MenuItem' (Name=''); target property is 'HorizontalContentAlignment' (type 'HorizontalAlignment') Problem is I don't know where in the app this is coming from. Searching the entire solution for AncestorType={x:Type ItemsControl} doesn't necessary help since I still don't know which result is the culprit. I've tried setting PresentationTraceSources.DataBindingSource.Switch.Level = SourceLevels.All; but the extra information doesn't help locate the problematic bindings. File names and line numbers is really what I need. Is there anyway to get this information?

Intent is to be able to use Pattern for type checking via MooseX::Params::Validate to verify the argument is a 'Program::Plist::Pl::Program' object. I've found that removing the intervening class Program::Plist::Pl from the equation by directly calling Pattern-new from the tmp18.pl wrapper results in no error, even when the Program::Types Pattern type is imported.

So, it would be nice if anyone could name a way how to put an attribute inside of the metaclass which is able to be read when new is executed. Method's type signature is not Interop compatible. Does anyone know how to solve this or how we can force SQL Server CLR to use an earlier version of the Framework?
