  I am trying to implement permission based access control in ASP.NET. To implement this I have created some database tables that hold all the information about which roles are assigned what permissions and which roles are assigned to what user. I am checking the permissions in the business access layer. Right now I have created a method which checks the permissions of the user. If the user has permissions then okay otherwise it redirects to another page. I want to know if the following things are possible? class User { [PremissionCheck(UserID,ObjectName,OperationName)] public DataTable GetUser() { //coding for user } } I have seen it in MVC3. Can I Create it in ASP.NET? If yes then how can I implement it?

• Crystal Report | Printing | Default Printer

  I am making one application where user will print invoices which I am displaying using Crystal Report. The user showed me his current application made using ForPro. In that application, under Printer Options form, one can see all the printers currently installed and the user could select default printer. When the invoice is made, the user presses the print button, then there is one dialog asking for no. of copies. When it's entered, the invoice gets printed directly, without any Print Dialog Box. If the user wants to change the printer again he/she will change it in the Printer Option form. I want to know if similar thing is possible in Crystal Report and need guidance on how to approach for it.

• Generated PersonController expects Authority to contain word ROLE

  I'm brand new to acegi and relatively new to Grails. I just followed the tutorial to set up a new role and a new user. Every time I saved the user (with a role checked), it saved the user information fine, but not the role associated with the user. I finally dug into the controller code that was generated, and noticed this: private void addRoles(person) { for (String key in params.keySet()) { if (key.contains('ROLE') && 'on' == params.get(key)) { Authority.findByAuthority(key).addToPeople(person) } } } So to be sure I was interpreting it correctly, I added the word ROLE to my authorties, and it worked like a charm. Am I missing something obvious, is this a bug, or.......? The examples showed simple role names like "user" or "manager".

  Given table USER (name, city, age), what's the best way to get the user details of oldest user per city? I have seen the following example SQL used in Oracle which I think it works select name, city, age from USER, (select city as maxCity, max(age) as maxAge from USER group by city) where city=maxCity and age=maxAge So in essence: use a nested query to select the grouping key and aggregate for it, then use it as another table in the main query and join with the grouping key and the aggregate value for each key. Is this the standard SQL way of doing it? Is it any quicker than using a temporary table, or is in fact using a temporary table interanlly anyway?

I know I can write a method def freq_bands for User but I would like to know if it is possible to have has_many freq_bands for a User. In this way I can chain the call. Now, I want the list of all products currently owned by every single user with the date of transaction.   I'm attempting to create an anti-bruteforcer for the login page on a website. Unfortunately, my query is not working as expected. I would like to test how many times an IP address has attempted to login, and also return the ID of the user for my next step in the login process. However, I'm having a problem with the query... for one thing, this would only return rows if it was the same user as they had been trying to login to before. I need it to be any user. Secondly, regardless of whether I use LEFT JOIN, RIGHT JOIN, INNER JOIN or JOIN, it will not return the user's ID unless there is a row for the user in login_attempts. • Why can't I view a directory in Linux?

  I am setting up a Linux web server running apache. I uploaded and untared my web sites files. The files in the main directory are all visible when I am SSH'd into the system. However, I am blocked from all subdirectories. If I write: # cd images Then I get the error: -bash: cd: images: Permission denied I am signed in as ec2-user. I untarred the stuff as ec2-user and I doubt there was any permissions in the tar file since I created the archive on a Windows system. The weird thing is that I am the owner of this directory. Here is a snippet of the command: ls -l drw-rw-r-- 19 ec2-user ec2-user 4096 May 4 04:09 images When I do "sudo su" and then type the command cd images everything is fine. Why do I get "Permission denied" as ec2-user if I am the owner and have rw permission?

• Macbook OSX applications crashing on startup

  Closed my computer last night, went home. Opened it and it had restarted. Now when I open a couple programs such as Adobe Fireworks or Appcelerator Titanium they throw up a nasty error like below. Other programs (Chrome, Firefox, Textmate, Versions) works fine. Any thoughts on this? I haven't owned my Macbook long so I'm not even aware of the right tools or places to look to track this down. Any help would be most appreciated. It's making it hard to get my work done :] If it helps at all both those programs were probably open when it restarted. • Sendmail Failing to Forward Locally Addressed Mail to Exchange Server

  I've recently gained employment as a web developer with a small company. What they neglected to tell me upon hire was that I would be administrating the server along with my other daily duties. Now, truth be told, I'm not clueless when it comes to these things, but this is my first rodeo working with a rack server/console.. However, I'm confident that I will be able to work through any solutions you provide. Short Description: When a customer places an order via our (Magento CE 1.8.1.0) website, a copy of said order is supposed to be BCC'd to our sales manager. I say supposed because this was a working feature before the old administrator left. Long Description: Shortly after I started, we had a server crash which required a server restart. After restart, we noticed a few features on our site weren't working, but all those have been cleaned up except this one. I had to create an account on our server for root access. When a customer places an order, our sites software (Magento CE 1.8.1.0) is configured to BCC the customers order email to our sales manager. We use a Microsoft Exchange 2007 Server for our mail, which is hosted on a different machine (in-house) that I don't have access to ATM, but I'm sure I could if needed. As far as I can tell, all other external emails work.. Only INTERNAL email addresses fail to deliver. I know this because I've also tested my own internal address via our website. I set up an account with an internal email, made a test order, and never received the email. I changed my email for the account to an external GMail account, and received emails as expected. Let's dive into the logs and config's. For privacy/security reasons, names have been changed to the following: domain.com = Our Top Level Domain. email.local = Our Exchange Server. example.com = ANY other TLD. • MacBook OS X applications crashing on startup

  Closed my computer last night, went home. Opened it and it had restarted. Now when I open a couple programs such as Adobe Fireworks or Appcelerator Titanium they throw up a nasty error like below. Other programs (Chrome, Firefox, Textmate, Versions) work fine. Any thoughts on this? I haven't owned my MacBook long so I'm not even aware of the right tools or places to look to track this down. Any help would be most appreciated. It's making it hard to get my work done :] If it helps at all both those programs were probably open when it restarted. From the look of it I'm not sure if it's a permissions error or something? I completely re-installed one of the applications (Appcelerator Titanium). Didn't seem to help. In Chrome however I get a blank grid. • Windows telling me, the local security authority is internally inconsistent upon mounting a network drive

  Since ages I've mounted a network share (via samba to a Linux machine) in Windows 7 to access it via drive letter. This worked flawlessly so far. Until now. Suddenly I couldn't access the drive anymore. Windows was telling me the network name (I didn't remember the exact term) was already in use. So I disconnected and tried to connect again: net use Y: \\10.10.10.208\work After a long time I get a message saying "The Local Security Authority (LSA) database contains an internal inconsistency" A restart didn't help. The mapped share is accessible (works on other machines in the same network), so obviously something strange is going on on my machine. Can anyone tell me how I can fix this inconsistency? Update: All machines that have saved the login information refuse with this error. So it must be something with the authorization. When I use net use Y: \\10.10.10.208\work /user:raphael it prompts me for the password and then returns that error message.

• How to import .ops file in Outlook 2007

  Hi all, I install ORK.exe on my Windows 7 machine to create a copy of my profile so I will have it as a template to push it to new user. So basically, I ran the Profile Wizard to create an .ops file. I saved it in my documents for the moment. Right now, I'm trying to import that file into my Outlook but I just can't figure it out! My goal is to have a profile template to push to new users when they log in for first time. Thanks a bunch in advance! EDIT: I just figured it out. But I have a problem: When I create my profile, Outlook 2007 on exchange was not in cache mode. So I created my profile with the Profile Wizard with cache mode disabled. I save my outlook.ops in My documents. Then, I enabled cache mode so when I will import my .ops file, it should be restore as cache mode disabled... But When I do that, cache mode is still checked (which I don't want to) Am I doing something wrong? I guess so but I just can't figure it out
