  • What does a leading "\??\" on a windows path mean?

    - by kdt
When using GetModuleFileNameEx to query the image path of a running process, some processes have an image path that starts with "\??\". For example, while most processes start "C:\WINDOWS", some processes start "\??\C:\WINDOWS". What does the leading \??\ mean on a windows path?

  • Monodroid and CI-Servers

    - by Tobias Schittkowski
I would like to automate my test and release process of my Monodroid app via Jenkins. I found some infos for using Jenkins with "normal" Android projects: https://jenkins-ci.org/content/getting-started-building-android-apps-hudson http://androiddevresources.com/blog/2012/04/01/building-an-android-app-with-jenkins/ Has anyone experience on building a Monodroid app on Jenkins and running nunit tests? Are there some ready-to-modify scripts?

  • Is Unit Testing worth the effort?

    - by The Talking Walnut
I am working to integrate unit testing into the development process on the team I work on and there are some skeptics. What are some good ways to convince the skeptical developers on the team of the value of Unit Testing? In my specific case we would be adding Unit Tests as we add functionality or fixed bugs. Unfortunately our code base does not lend itself to easy testing.

  • How to configure aria2 as a starup service in archlinux?

    - by user1179442
I tried to edit a service file in /etc/systemd/system/aria2.service [Unit] Description=start aria2 Wants=network.target Before=network.target [Service] Type=oneshot ExecStart=/usr/bin/aria2c --enable-rpc --rpc-listen-all=true --rpc-allow-origin-all -c -D [Install] WantedBy=multi-user.target Then run "systemctl enable aria2" & "systemctl start" and there is no error. But I can't grep 'aria2c' in process list after reboot. Who can give me a sample service file for it? Thanks

  • Stateless NHibernate for querying

    - by JontyMC
We have a database that is updated via a background process. We are using NHibernate to query the data for display on the web UI, so we don't need change tracking or lazy-loading. If we mark all the mappings as mutable="false", is this the same as using a stateless session?

  • How to shrink Windows 7 XP Mode VHD files?

    - by A_M
I'm trying to shrink a Windows 7 XP Mode VHD file with VhdResizer with little success. When I select my VHD file, it says "VhdExpand only supports fixed and dynamic VHD files". My XP Mode VHDs are dynamic files. Does anyone have any idea why it is failing? Failing that, does anyone have a process that I can use to shrink my XP mode VHD files on Windows 7 (64 bit)?

  • What is MVC and what are the advantages of it?

    - by Teifion
I found What are mvp and mvc and what is the difference but it didn't really answer this question. I've recently started using MVC because it's part of the framework that myself and my work-partner are going to use. We chose it because it looked easy and separated process from display, are there advantages besides this that we don't know about and could be missing out on? Pros Display and Processing are seperated Cons None so far

  • How can I test a windows dll to determine if it is 32bit or 64bit?

    - by morechilli
I'd like to write a test script or program that asserts that all dlls in a given directory are of a particular build type. I would use this as a sanity check at the end of a build process on an sdk to make sure that the 64bit version hasn't somehow got some 32bit dlls in it and vice versa. Is there an easy way to look at a dll file and determine its type? The solution should work on both xp32 and xp64.

  • Private API and SMS content URI's on Android

    - by Shadow
Without accessing private API's to get Content URI's, etc. for SMS, how are we expected to query this data? I am currently in the process of writing my own SMS app and I want to stay as compatible as possible. Without storing the information myself in my own database (such that I can store the text messages so that other programs can access the data when/if they delete my app) and without using private API's how the heck are we suppose to query SMS data?

  • Program crashes after trying to use a recently created file. C#

    - by Jason T.
So here is my code if (!File.Exists(pathName)) { File.Create(pathName); } StreamWriter outputFile = new StreamWriter(pathName, true); But whenever I run the program the first time the path with file gets created. However once I get to the StreamWriter line my program crashes because it says my fie is in use by another process. Is there something I'm missing between the File.Create and the StreamWriter statements?

  • How to write my own global lock / unlock functions for PostgreSQL

    - by rafalmag
    I have postgresql (in perlu) function getTravelTime(integer, timestamp), which tries to select data for specified ID and timestamp. If there are no data or if data is old, it downloads them from external server (downloading time ~300ms). Multiple process use this database and this function. There is an error when two process do not find data and download them and try to do an insert to travel_time table (id and timestamp pair have to be unique). I thought about locks. Locking whole table would block all processes and allow only one to proceed. I need to lock only on id and timestamp. pg_advisory_lock seems to lock only in "current session". But my processes uses their own sessions. I tried to write my own lock/unlock functions. Am I doing it right? I use active waiting, how can I omit this? Maybe there is a way to use pg_advisory_lock() as global lock? My code: CREATE TABLE travel_time_locks ( id_key integer NOT NULL, time_key timestamp without time zone NOT NULL, UNIQUE (id_key, time_key) ); ------------ -- Function: mylock(integer, timestamp) DROP FUNCTION IF EXISTS mylock(integer, timestamp) CASCADE; -- Usage: SELECT mylock(1, '2010-03-28T19:45'); -- function tries to do a global lock similar to pg_advisory_lock(key, key) CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION mylock(id_input integer, time_input timestamp) RETURNS void AS $BODY$ DECLARE rows int; BEGIN LOOP BEGIN -- active waiting here !!!! :( INSERT INTO travel_time_locks (id_key, time_key) VALUES (id_input, time_input); EXCEPTION WHEN unique_violation THEN CONTINUE; END; EXIT; END LOOP; END; $BODY$ LANGUAGE 'plpgsql' VOLATILE COST 1; ------------ -- Function: myunlock(integer, timestamp) DROP FUNCTION IF EXISTS myunlock(integer, timestamp) CASCADE; -- Usage: SELECT myunlock(1, '2010-03-28T19:45'); -- function tries to do a global unlock similar to pg_advisory_unlock(key, key) CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION myunlock(id_input integer, time_input timestamp) RETURNS integer AS $BODY$ DECLARE BEGIN DELETE FROM ONLY travel_time_locks WHERE id_key=id_input AND time_key=time_input; RETURN 1; END; $BODY$ LANGUAGE 'plpgsql' VOLATILE COST 1;

  • TFS 2010 Invoke built-in activity from custom CodeActivity

    - by Rhapsody
Hi, I'm trying to invoke a built-in activity from my custom CodeActivity for the TFS2010 Build Process. I've got my own CodeActivity which generates a batch file and I want to invoke the InvokeProcess activity (built-in) to execute that generated file. Of course I could split it into two activities, but it would be nicer if I could put these actions together. Can somebody push me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!

  • Transforming OLTP Relational Database to Data Warehousing Model

    - by Russ Cam
What are the common design approaches taken in loading data from a typical Entity-Relationship OLTP database model into a Kimball star schema Data Warehouse/Marts model? Do you use a staging area to perform the transformation and then load into the warehouse? How do you link data between the warehouse and the OLTP database? Where/How do you manage the transformation process - in the database as sprocs, dts/ssis packages, or SQL from application code?
