• Converting SVG to UFO files

  I am working in PhotoImpact X3, whose native file format is .UFO. I want to bring an SVG file into it, but it doesn't recognize SVG format. All online converters I find (trying to convert it to .PSD, which PhotoImpact X3 recognizes) convert the SVG to a raster format, first, and I don't want that. Does anyone know a way to import an SVG file into PhotoImpact X3? Preferably as a .UFO or .PSD file, but any scaleable vector file format will work.

  Helo all! A wierd shift-key problem, for which all I found was sticky keys answers First of all, I have all the sticky keys and related, Disabled. Every windows that is currently in focus, if I press the left shift-key alone, pops up the current window menu. I have no idea how and why this has happened, or how to disable it. I could not find any reference in google about it (perhaps my search-string was not good..) any help would be appriciated

Does Word have the ability to let me select which page of the mulipage tiff I want to insert or do I have to break the TIFF file up (which would be a pain)?

  I would like to know if there is any way a file can be moved only if the destination does not exist - in other words, move only if it does not lead to overwriting. mv --update seemed first to be the solution, however, if the timestamp of the source path is newer than the destination, move will overwrite it and all attempts to circumvent this by modifying the timestamp before the move will fail. I need this behaviour to implement a simple file based lock where existence of a 'lock' file indicates that the lock is acquired.

• User not able to change permissions on folder in network share for Windows Server 2003

  I have a user that has rights to change permissions within a certain folder on a Windows Server 2003 network share. Although I grant this person the rights to change permission and ownership this person cannot change any permissions. The network share is also set to allow everyone full control. (I understand it is bad practice yet this is how it was first configured) Is there any reason why this domain user cannot modify permissions on the folder and files they create?

• How do I run multiple instances of Microsoft Outlook 2010, each with a specific profile?

  I have 2 mail profiles - one profile has a single Exchange 2010 account and the other has a single IMAP account. I want to open an instance of Outlook for each. I execute outlook.exe /profile MyExchangeProfile for the Exchange profile and outlook.exe /profile MyIMAPProfile for the IMAP profile and the result is that I get 2 instances of Outlook each with the MyExchangeProfile. In fact, whichever profile I load first is always the one that gets loaded no matter what profile I specify on separate executions.

• RHEL json gem installation requires make?

  When I try to install json gem (gem install json), at first it fails to do so, because of some dev package issue. After fixing it, it fails saying that "sh: make: command not found" and "ERROR: Error installing json: ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension.". Why is it failing on make? Notice this is not Mac, this is in RHEL 5 (4 or 5, not sure). Why is it not able to do some "build gem native extension"?

If I do a 'net send' to all computers on the domain while not VPN'd into the network, and it says it's successful, one of the following is true: It failed, but thinks it's successful, and it won't send anything. It failed, but it will send next time it's on the work domain. I know I was off the domain when I sent it (I made sure of that first). What will happen?

• ImageMagick's `convert` utility takes *too much* memory with PDF input

  I often use ImageMagick's convert for *-PNG conversion, but when PDF has more than 50 pages — convert eats more that 3 Gib (!!!) of memory. I guess it first loads everything. That's unacceptable. It should read PDF page by page, why the heck all of them at once! Maybe there's a way to tune it somehow? Or any good alternatives?

First, after a restart it is fine, but once it starts updating IntelliSense and counting down items it stops on the same number (the number slightly changed with further changes in the project). After that I get a sure freeze for: right-click in the code to get a context-menu changing from Debug to Release and vice versa quitting visual studio After a freeze I have to kill the process. I have a centos 5.2 server and running df -h i get this: Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00 672G -551M 638G 0% / /dev/hda1 99M 12M 82M 13% /boot tmpfs 2.0G 0 2.0G 0% /dev/shm that space wasn't even near 10% usage the last time it showed a correct value, i'm at a loss with whats going on.   Hi all, The hard drive has two partitions. I'm installing Windows 7 on the second one. It automatically gets assigned the drive letter C (and the first partition becomes D). Is there any way to override this assignment during installation? It's a dual-boot system, and I want drive letters to be consistent. On the vanilla drive selection dialog, there's no letter assignment UI.

  I want to do: echo "something" >> /etc/config_file But, since only the root user has write permission to this file, I can't do that. But this: sudo echo "something" >> /etc/config_file also doesn't work. Is there any way to append to a file in that situation without having to first open it with a sudo'd editor and then appending the new content by hand?

• New laptop, windows 7, Outlook 2007 installed

  A friend of mine has purchased a new laptop (Toshiba) with Windows 7 installed and has also purchased Outlook 2007 and atttmped to install it - the install worked ok, but I think he may have selected Exchange server when installing the first time - now it will not start, displaying message like "Your Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable " Outlook 2007 should have been configued for Pop3 as he has a hotmail account, but Outlook will not load "offline" and despite me de-installing, re-installing, running repair, I cannot get it to load to a point where I can add a new email account. If any one has any ideas on this, I would apprecaite the help Thanks, Bob
