  • Including a pyd directly in a setup.py file

    I have a complex build process to generate a couple of python extension modules (.pyd). I want to include these in my setup.py for use with distutils. The distutils page talks in length about how to add extension modules from source, but I'd want to simply package these precompiled .pyd. What is the best practice to do this? Eventually, I'd also like to freeze everything in an executable with py2exe. Will I be able to do this if I directly specify the .pyd?

  • Accessing a file on a network drive

    Hello. Background: I have an application that has to read from files on a network drive (Z:) This works great in my office domain, however it does not work on site (in a different domain). As far as I can tell the domain users and network drives are set in the same way, however I do not have access to users etc in the customers domain. When I couldn't access the network drive I figured I needed a token for a user. In my network the application can already access the network drive, and if I try to impersonate the active user (exactly the same user, including the same domain) it will not be able to access the network drive. This leaves me helpless since now I have no idea what works and what doesn't, and more to the point, will it work on site? What am I missing?

    How would I separate the below string into its parts. What I need to separate is each < Word including the angle brackets from the rest of the string.   • cygwin slow file open

    My application uses fopen to open a lot of files. While in linux opening and reading thousand of files doesn't even take a second; in cygwin it takes more than 5 seconds. I think it is because path conversion functions in cygwin dlls. 'open' function is a bit faster. If I use -mno-cygwin it becomes very fast but I can't use it. Is there an easy way to make cygwin dlls just open files; without any linux-windows conversion?

    I know running git-diff and other tools can identify the changes in the repository, but when I do a partial commit, I need to pass only the committed files (rather than the entire set of files that are touched) to the pre-commit hook. For example, I modified three files and commit only two, and I want the pre-commit hook to know the name of the two files. git status --porcelain M A.c M B.c M C.h then I execute: git commit -m "two files only" A.c B.c How can the pre-commit hook get hold of the list of the two files only?

    Hi all: I have an aspx page that has a @Page directive which points to a c# class. e.g. <@ Page Language="C#" EnableSessionState="true" ValidateRequest="False" Inherits="MyClass" %> MyClass extends Page, which is the code behind class for that aspx page. Now I want to add another class to the aspx page. This class does some processing and will redirect the user to another page if certain conditions are met. It will be called before the above directive. I tried adding another @Page directive, but gotten an unknown error (literally). I'm thinking that there can only be one code behind class per aspx page so I got the error when I added another one. Googling such question didnt really help me with the answer. So, how do I add another c# class to the same aspx page? Thanks.

  • How do I design the file storage issue?

    I am working on an application that creates video files and stores them in a folder in the C:\ drive. I speculate that there will be a large number of these files in the future and we would run out of disk space at some point of time (on our VPS). When the time comes that we have to upgrade, we either plan to use one of the Cloud providers to store files or our existing provider can add another disk (say D:\ drive). Either way, I would want to design the app now in a way that in future, moving to different locations would not be an issue and would be transparent to the end user. The code that creates these files supports 2 ways: myObj.SetOutputToDisk(<path to store>); or myObj.SetOutputToMemoryStream(ms); If we go with the Cloud architecture, I assume we might have the following combination: Cloud Files + Existing VPS or Cloud Files + Cloud Windows Server Given the unknowns at this time, how would I go about designing this?

    Hello I have a question concerning translating data from a CSV into XML or JSON where it is essential to preserve the heirarchy of the data. For example, if I have CSV data like this: type,brand,country,quantity apple,golden_delicious,english,1 apple,golden_delicious,french,2 apple,cox,,4 apple,braeburn,,1 banana,,carribean,6 banana,,central_america,7 clememtine,,,3 What I want is to preserve hierarchy in the XML so that I get something like: <fruit> <type = "apple"> <brand = "golden_delicious"> <country = "english" quantity = "1"> <country = "french" quantity = "2"> </brand> <brand = "cox"> <quantity = "4"> </brand> <brand = "braeburn"> <quantity = "1"> </brand> </type> <type = "banana"> <country = "carribean" quantity = "6"> <country = "central_america" quantity = "7"> </type> <type = "clementine"> <quantity = "3"> </type> <fruit /> Is it best to try to use JAXP or to convert the above into a table simply of parent, child and then writing the data to an array of strings for processing,? Like this: parent,child fruit,apple apple,golden_delicious golden_delicious,english golden_delicious,french english,1 french,2 apple,cox cox,4 apple,braeburn braeburn,1 And so on. Scale works like a percentage, and there's no way to get the width, height, or depth of the DAE once in flash. I want to be able to specify the size of DAE in 3D space relative to other pv3d native geometry.
