• How can code in a JavaScript file get the file's URL?

  I need to dynamically load a CSS stylesheet into a page that's on a different domain. How can I get the complete URL of the JS file to use in the href attribute of the stylesheet? For instance, here is the structure: http://bla.com/js/script.js http://bla.com/css/style.css I want to dynamically load the stylesheet into a page http://boo.net/index.html. The problem is, I don't know the bla.com bit in advance, just the fact that the stylesheet is in ../css/ relative to the JS file. The script is, of course, included on index.html. jQuery's fine too.

• How exactly do you use json_decode to pass a javascript array to php?

  This is how I got my php array to javascript echo 'var daysofweek = '.json_encode($daysofweek).';'; Now I am aware that json_decode can do the opposite, however the problem is I don't know the syntax to do so. I forgot to mention that I want to send an array through post, having all my information regarding all the form values dynamically created by javascript. • Running sql scripts against an attached database?

  I've got an MDF attached to an instance of Sql Server 2008 Express, and I need to run some sql scripts against it to generate tables, indexes, etc. But I can't figure out how to get this to work. If I load the scripts in Visual Studio, it only allows me to connect to the server and run it against a database. I can't choose a different provider (Microsoft Sql Server Database File), so I can't select my MDF. This leaves me the only option of running the script as individual queries, but that won't work as it appears it doesn't support TSQL CREATE statements. How can I run my sql script against an attached database?

• What's the fastest way to get directory and subdirs size on unix using Perl?

  I am using Perl stat() function to get the size of directory and its subdirectories. I have a list of about 20 parent directories which have few thousand recursive subdirs and every subdir has few hundred records. • Detecting when a process has finished (but not exited)

  I have a program that's run in unix (that I have no control over) that when finished prints 'Completed successfully' but does not exit. I want to automatically detect when the process finishes (by checking the output of the command), so that I can kill the process and so that I can proceed do other activities. The complexity comes because I want to be able to run multiples of these scripts concurrently. (One activity I need to do requires the script to be called with various inputs, but each time the script runs it takes a while to return, and so I want to do them in parallel) Has anyone done something similar to this? I could redirect the stderr and stdout output of the command to a temporary file which has a random file name, then tail the file and pipe to grep for the end conditions (I.e. the certain log lines). The problem is, surely tail -f would keep running, and so it would never exit. Should I poll? If so, what's the best approach?

• Can I modify an ASP.NET AJAX History Point?

  I'm using ASP.NET 3.5 with AJAX and have enabled history on the Script Manager. I have 2 pages, Default.aspx and Default2.aspx. I'm using the AJAX History on the Default.aspx page and saving history points on the server-side. There are some dropdowns on Default.aspx that I don't want to save a history point for each change but would like to save the latest state so that when I click on a link on Default.aspx that navigates to Default2.aspx, when I click the back button on Default2.aspx to return I want the dropdowns to reflect what they were prior to clicking on the hyperlink. So what I'd like to do is modify the history point that I originally set on one of my ajax async postbacks on the client-side before the page navigates away to Default2.aspx. There is a location.hash javascript property that looks like it may do what I want but when I modify the value the Script Manager Navigate event is firing. Is there a way to prevent this event from firing? And would this then do the job?

• Why can't i call Contains method from my array?

  Arrrg!I am running into what i feel is a dumb issue with a simple script i'm writing in powershell. I am invoking a sql command that is calling a stored proc, with the results i put it a array. The results look something like this: Status ProcessStartTime ProcessEndTime ------ ---------------- -------------- Expired May 22 2010 8:31PM May 22 2010 8:32PM What i'm trying to do is if($s.Contains("Expired")) , report failed. Simple...? :( Problem i'm running into is it looks like Contains method is not being loaded as i get an error like this: Method invocation failed because [System.Object[]] doesn't contain a method named 'Contains'.   I have a file say "file.txt" with following contents: Capsule arr**[**0**]** in state A rate_ul/dl=**(**2000000/7000000**)** Capsule RBx**[**0**]** in state ... ... using sed operator how can i replace all occurences of '[' with '[', '(' with '(', ']' with ']' and so on. Capsule arr**\[**0**\]** in state A rate_ul/dl=**\(**2000000/7000000**\)** Capsule RBx**\[**0**\]** in state ... ... Using the substitue operator in "gvim" I am able to achieve the same result. ie. if i use ":1,$ s/\[/\\[/g" in the vi editor in command mode I see all the '[' chars replaced with '['. However if I try to use the same substitue command in a shell script using a sed command, i am not able to achieve the same result. ie If i use the following command in a shell script I am not able to achieve the desired result: sed "s/\[/\\[/g" $temp_file2 > $temp_file1 where $temp_file2 conatins the lines with '[' characters and $temp_file1 should contain the replaced '\[' chars

• TSQL - create a stored proc inside a transaction statement

  I have a sql script that is set to roll to production. I've wrapped the various projects into separate transactions. In each of the transactions we created stored procedures. I'm getting error messages Msg 156, Level 15, State 1, Line 4 Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'procedure'. I created this example script to illustrate Begin Try Begin Transaction -- do a bunch of add/alter tables here -- do a bunch of data manipulation/population here -- create a stored proc create procedure dbo.test as begin select * from some_table end Commit End Try Begin Catch Rollback Declare @Msg nvarchar(max) Select @Msg=Error_Message(); RaisError('Error Occured: %s', 20, 101,@Msg) With Log; End Catch The error seems to imply that I can't create stored procs inside of transaction, but I'm not finding any docs that say otherwise(maybe google isn't being freindly today).

With a certain script I can get Youtube Feeds as an image, take a look at the example: JsFiddle I'm trying to do a Jquery click event which will have to invoke another script called 'embedly' like this: $("a").click(function(event) { event.preventDefault(); $(this).embedly({ chars: 220, nostyle: true, key:':41f042ec20b04dda84448dc4a46d357d' }); }); It doesn't seem to work. When I do this from my desktop the click does not invoke the embedly part and also goes to the url regardless of the prevent default.

• mysql_connect() doesn't work when run by apache; works from command line.

  Hi, I have a strange issue. I'm trying to write a simple php webpage on my server, but mysql_connect() doesn't connect to any server, either local or otherwise. Here's where it gets strange. If I take the same php script and run it from the commandline, the script works. phpinfo() indicates that both the file (being run by apache) and the commandline (run as root) are calling the same version of php, mysql is loaded, and the php.ini is the same. Furthermore, I'm running a MediaWiki installation on this same server, and it's using the mysqld installed locally and works just fine, so I'm completely at a loss as to why the code isn't working. The error I receive on runtime: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx' (13) (The IP is x'd out for the privacy of the owner of the server I'm connecting to)

• How to restart Linux from inside a C++ program?

  I have a Qt 4 GUI where I need to have a option in a drop-down menu that allows the user to choose to restart the computer. I realize this might seem redunant with the ability to restart the computer in other ways, but the choice needs to stay there. I've tried using system() to call the following: a suid-root shell script a non-suid shell script a suid-root binary program and all of them just cause reboot: must be superuser to be printed. Using system() to call reboot directly does the same thing. I'm not especially attached to using system() to do this, but it seemed like the most direct choice. How can I reboot the system from the GUI?
