  Nothing about how to implement ads via admob into an application or anything. I'm just new to ads and it's pretty confusing to get a good grasp on how it works. I've been wanting to put out an app with ads in it but have been reading you need to initially pay at least $50 to get started? I thought it was free to ad whatever ads to display on YOUR app. Or is the $ for adding your own advertising on OTHER people's apps? I'm so confused. Someone please enlighten me, thanks!

  What algorithms (brute force or not) would I use to put in as many cars (assume all cars are the same size) in a parking lot so that there is at least one exit (from the container) and a car cannot be blocked. Or can someone show me an example of this problem solved programmatically. The parking lot varies in shape would be nice but if you want to assume its some invariant shape that is fine. Another Edit: Assume that driving distance in the parking lot is not a factor (although it would be totally awesome if it was weighted factor to number of cars in lot). Another Edit: Assume 2 Dimensional (no cranes or driving over cars). Another Edit: You cannot move cars around once they are parked (its not a valet parking lot). I hope the question is specific enough now.

  I've posted a code sample below. Firstly let me explain termStore.Groups in the code below is a collection of Group Objects (The exact class is irrelevant). Checking for null : if (termStore.Groups[groupName] == null) seems like a logical (clean) approach, but if the Groups collection is empty then an exception is produced. using the termStore.Groups.Contains is not an option either because this expects a strong type i.e: .Contains(Group)... not .Contains(GroupName as string) Can someone recommend a clean / generic way I can check for if an item exists in collection .   Hello all, I am trying to sort an array of prices from low to high. I have it working but not the way I want it to.   I have an idea for an open source app -- the app would be free, but I would charge a small fee for data that a customer would order. For instance, let's say I'm writing a map application. I'd give the app away, make it open-source, but I would like to sell various maps to individual users. Is there a way to protect the data in such a way that makes it very difficult for someone to simply take the map they bought and distribute it to others? Is this feasible for an open source app?

  I'm trying to typeset a document I'm working on. Currently I'm trying to format a piece of text such that the text consists of two colors: a fill color and a line color. In this way the header should pop out more. I found \psset with options such as linecolor and fillcolor, but I can't get it to work. Can someone provide an example of how I could do this? Just providing a color using the color-package is no problem, but also not what I want because using this package I can only provide a single color for a piece of text.

  Hi! I am looking for a stand-alone, easy to use from C# code, template engine. What I want to do is create an html and xml files with placeholders for data, and fill them with data from my code. The engine needs to support loops (duplicating parts of the template form more that one object) and conditions (add parts of the template to the final html/xml only if some conditions are true). Can someone recommend a good option for me, and add a link to more-or-less such code sample, and some documentation about how to use the recommended component for my needs?   Hi Everyone, Can someone tell me why this unit test that checks for exceptions fails? Obviously my real test is checking other code but I'm using Int32.Parse to show the issue. Obviously I'm trying to test for this exception and I think I'm missing something in my syntax. • IE6 and IE7 Standalone: What do they render differently?

  It's common knowledge on SO (see this question) that to run IE6 and IE7 you need a Windows box (or virtual box) with only those apps installed. I doubt this is true (they are the real versions, I think). The two browsers I'm interested in are: Standalone IE6 from the MultipleIEs install Standalone IE7 also from Tredosoft (but published elsewhere) These two plus a "real" install of IE8 give you three IE versions in one Windows install. We all know that "You're out of luck if you're trying to run them all reliably in one VM," but can someone please show me JS, CSS, or HTML (or a plugin, etc.) that does not work on the standalone versions as it should? Downvoters: I'm fixing the question so that it's less aggressive, but since there are no comments I don't know what you don't like about this question. Also: I have ALL the test cases set up (IE6, IE7 and IE8, as well as the standalone versions) so if anybody has any code they want me to test, I can do that.

  I'm using dijit combobox for populating a JSON List. Also I'm using ItemFileReadStore for getting the JSON data from the server. Once the data is downloaded, when I click on the combobox it shows all the data. But I don't want the user to see all the data. The user should see the list only when he types something. • What is the easiest way to create a clickable grid for a game in C++?

  I haven't used C++ in a while, so I decided to take on a small project to become familiar with it again. I am trying to make a chinese checkers game, but I have no experience with GUI design in C++. Is there a real simple way to just make grid (i.e. bitmap hexagons or something) that when clicked on, will give me the index number of the one I've clicked on? If someone has any examples of how to do this, even with just a 2D grid of squares, that would be helpful. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

  created the first rails app! excinting! for two weeks now I did Zombie, rubymonk etc. I love it! I used scaffold form url:string and included the gem share_counts. rails c: f = form.first ShareCounts.twitter f.url works! but... I have trouble to write the controller and the view! For you experienced railies this is probably a silly question, and probably only 5 lines of code, but for me thats a big step learning RoR!   If i takes larger datatype where i know i should have taken datatype that was sufficient for possible values that i will insert into a table will affect any performance in sql server in terms of speed or any other way. eg. IsActive (0,1,2,3) not more than 3 in any case. I know i must take tinyint but due to some reasons consider it as compulsion, i am taking every numeric field as bigint and every character field as nVarchar(Max) Please give statistics if possible, to let me try to overcoming that compulsion. I need some solid analysis that can really make someone rethink before taking any datatype.

• What value to use for include_path in .htaccess

  Currently in my .htaccess file I am setting include_path such as this: php_value include_path /mnt/webs/mysite/includes:/usr/share/pear However this isn't great if I need to put my sites on a new server as I need to go through a whole load of sites updating each .htaccess. Basically would like a way to basically say "use the folder called includes in the site root (I run a variety of different sites off one server so each .htaccess file and include path will be different). In a related question on here I had someone use: inclue(dirname(__FILE__)."/inc2.php"); But this is in code and might be a bit annoying to do everytime, however should I just use this method and scrap the idea of using .htaccess?

  I'm trying to make a simple String to SHA1 converter in Java and this is what I've got... public static String toSHA1(byte[] convertme) { MessageDigest md = null; try { md = MessageDigest.getInstance("SHA-1"); } catch(NoSuchAlgorithmException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } return new String(md.digest(convertme)); } When I pass it toSHA1("password".getBytes()), I get "[?a?????%l?3~??." I know it's probably a simple encoding fix like UTF-8, but could someone tell me what I should do to get what I want which is "5baa61e4c9b93f3f0682250b6cf8331b7ee68fd8"? • C++/CLI Missing MSVCR90.DLL

  I have a c++/cli dll that I load at runtime and which works great in debug mode. If I try and load the dll in release mode it fails to load stating that one or more dependencies are missing. If I run depends against it I am missing MSVCR90.DLL from MSVCM90.DLL. If I check the debug version of the dll it also has the missing dependency, but against the debug (D) version. I have made sure debug/release embed the manifest file. I read something about there being issues with the app loading the dll being build as Any CPU and the dll being built as x86, but I don't see how to set them both to x86. I am using VS2010. Anyway, I've been messing around for a while now and have no idea what is wrong. I'm sure someone out there knows what is going on. Let me know if I need to include additional info.

• What is the pythonic way to add type information to an object's attributes?

  I'm building classes where I know the types of the attributes, but Python of course doesn't. While it's un-pythonic to want to tell it, supposing I do want to, is there an idiomatic way to do so? Why: I'm reading in serialised data (without type information) involving objects-nested-inside-objects. It's easy to put it into nested dictionaries, but I want it in objects of my class-types, to get the right behaviours as well as the data. For instance: suppose my class Book has an attribute isbn which I will fill with an ISBNumber object. My serialised data gives me the isbn as a string; I would like to be able to look at Book and say "That field should be filled by ISBNumber(theString)." Bonus glee for me if the solution can be applied to classes I get from someone else without editing their code.

  I'm developing a PHP application to retrieve the list of contacts from a GMail account. I'm looking for a solution which would enable the user of my application to provide the login and password to their Gmail account in my application (as opposed to getting redirected to Google) and then automatically do the retrieval. The retrieval process can be run in PHP or JavaScript (which would then feed the list of contacts back to PHP using Ajax). Is it possible to do that? Which JavaScript API should I use for that? Can someone point me at the right chapter in Google Contacts Data API documentation?

• Codeigniter error logs show a 404 non-existing images directory...need to worry?

  I've recently started logging my errors through codeIgniter. Since doing so, I have noticed a lot of 404 errors for directories that don't exist. For example: ERROR - 2010-05-15 21:06:26 -- 404 Page Not Found -- someController/images Where someController is, obviously, a controller. The problem is, there are no functions within that controller called images, nor are there any links to a directory by that name. Could this be that someone is trying to hack my site? If so, do I need to worry? If not, why is this happening? Thanks, and forgive the newby-ness.
