  This question already has an answer here: Loopback to forwarded Public IP address from local network - Hairpin NAT 6 answers I have a public facing website for a doctor's office for accessing the medical record. I'm using SSL. The server is at the doctor's office. When I access the website on the same network as the server I want the DNS to point to the local IP address. I don't want to do a HTTP redirect to the local ip because of the scary SSL warning. What's the recommended way of doing this?

  Has anyone been able to communicate using WCF on Windows Phone Series 7 emulator? I've been trying for the past two days and it's just happening for me. I can get a normal Silverlight control to work in both Silverlight 3 and Silverlight 4, but not the phone version. • Configuring multiple WCF binding configurations for the same scheme doesn't work

  I have a set of IIS7-hosted net.tcp WCF services that serve my ASP.NET MVC web application. The web application is accessed over the internet. WCF Services (IIS7) <--> ASP.NET MVC Application <--> Client Browser The services are username authenticated, the account that a client (of my web application) uses to logon ends up as the current principal on the host. I want one of the services to be authenticated differently, because it serves the view model for my logon view. When it's called, the client is obviously not logged on yet. I figure Windows authentication serves best or perhaps just certificate based security (which in fact I should use for the authenticated services as well) if the services are hosted on a machine that is not in the same domain as the web application. That's not the point here though. Using multiple TCP bindings is what's giving me trouble. When I remove either of them, all's fine but together they produce the following exception on the client: The requested upgrade is not supported by 'net.tcp://localhost:8081/Service2.svc'. This could be due to mismatched bindings (for example security enabled on the client and not on the server). In the server trace log, I find the following exception: Protocol Type application/negotiate was sent to a service that does not support that type of upgrade. Am I looking into the right direction or is there a better way to solve this?

• Combined SOAP/JSON/XML in WCF, using UriTemplate

  I'm trying to build a generic web service interface using WCF, to allow 3rd party developers to hook into our software. After much struggling and reading (this question helped a lot), I finally got SOAP, JSON and XML (POX) working together. The part I'd like to fix is the queries. I have to use TestService.svc/xml/GetDateOffset?numDays=4 instead of TestService.svc/xml/GetDateOffset/4. If I specify the UriTemplate, I get the error: Endpoints using 'UriTemplate' cannot be used with 'System.ServiceModel.Description.WebScriptEnablingBehavior'. But of course without using <enableWebScript/>, JSON doesn't work. The only other thing I've seen that I think will work is making 3 different services (.svc files), that all implement an interface that specifies the contract, but in the classes specify different WebGet/WebInvoke attributes on each class. This seems like a lot of extra work, that frankly, I don't see why the framework doesn't handle for me. The implementation of the classes would all be the same, except for the attributes, which means over time it would be easy for bugs/changes to get fixed/done in one implementation but not the others, leading to inconsistent behaviour when using the JSON vs SOAP implementation for example. Am I doing something wrong here? Am I taking a totally wrong approach and misusing WCF? Is there a better way to do this? With my experience doing web stuff, I think it should be possible for some kind of framework to handle this ... I even have an idea in my head of how to build it. It just seems like WCF is supposed to be doing this, and I don't really want to reinvent the wheel.

• ASP.NET MVC2 Model Validation Fails with Non-US Date Format

  I have a small MVC2 app that displays in two cultures: en-US and es-MX. One portion contains a user input for a date that is pre-populated with the current date in the Model. When using en-US, the date field is displayed as MM/dd/yyyy and can be changed using the same format without causing any validation errors. When using es-MX, the date field is displayed as dd/MM/yyyy, but when the date is edited in this format, the server-side validation fails with the message: The value '17/05/1991' is not valid for The Date. One of the first things that jumps out at me about that message is that it is not localized. Both the message itself (which I do not think I can control) and the Display Name of the field (which I can control and is localized in my code). Should be displaying in a localized format. I have tried stepping through the code to see exactly where the validation is failing, but it seems to be happening inside some of the compiled MVC or DataAnnotations code that I cannot see. • War wont deploy "Unresolved <ejb-link>" Glassfish 3, Netbeans 7

  I have enterprise aplication with ejb and war module, and since I created local interface web module wont deploy. It builds fine. EJB project is referenced inside web project. Also when I delete <ejb-local-ref> from web.xml it deploys, but then lookup method fails. • Drawing a WPF UserControl with DataBinding to an Image

  Hey Everyone, So I'm trying to use a WPF User Control to generate a ton of images from a dataset where each item in the dataset would produce an image... I'm hoping I can set it up in such a way that I can use WPF databinding, and for each item in the dataset, create an instance of my user control, set the dependency property that corresponds to my data item, and then draw the user control to an image, but I'm having problems getting it all working (not sure whether databinding or drawing to the image is my problem) Sorry for the massive code dump, but I've been trying to get this working for a couple of hours now, and WPF just doesn't like me (have to learn at some point though...)   Hello, I am attempting to integrate FFMPEG into my asp.net website. The process I am trying to complete is to upload a video, check if it is .avi, .mov, or .wmv and then convert this video into an mp4 using x264 so my flash player can play it. I am using an http handler (ashx) file to handle my upload. This is where I am also putting my conversion code. I am not sure if this is the best place to put it, but I wanted to see if i could at least get it working. Additionally, I was able to complete the conversion manually through cmd line. It is totally unresponsive unless I push it far enough past the JTable (then it can behave correctly). I have tried running the code with both the MigLayout JAR of the version we use for end user products and with the very most recent one; same result.   I have created a small XML parsing application for Android that displays information in a listview and then allows a user to click on the list view and a dialog with further info will pop up. The problem is that when the screen orientation is changed when a dialog screen is open I get a null pointer error. And TeX or LaTeX codes represent mathematics contents such as an inline math $y=mx+c$ and a displayed math \[y=mx+c\]. Right now my site can accept input, for example, $x<y$. However it cannot accept $x<y>z$ because the framework regards this input is vulnerable to XSS and XSRF. Shortly speaking, what I should do to accomplish what I want but it does not open security vulnerability.

• Text to MP3 using System.Speech.Synthesis.SpeechSynthesizer

  I am trying to get a text-to-speech to save to an MP3. Currently I have the System.Speech.Synthesis speaking to a WAV file nicely. With New System.Speech.Synthesis.SpeechSynthesizer '.SetOutputToWaveFile(pOutputPath) This works fine .SetOutputToWaveStream(<<Problem bit>>) .Speak(pTextToSpeak) .SetOutputToNull() .Dispose() End With Now the first line commented out produces a WAV file which is nice. Currently I am trying to replace that with an MP3 output stream and not having much success. I have tried the Yeti.MMedia converter but either it isn't going to work or I haven't got it to work successfully. I have to admit here I don't know much about encodings, speeds etc. So the question I have is, does anyone know of a nice way I can say something like the following: .SetOutputToWaveStream(New MP3WriteStream(pOutputPath)) and have the SpeechSynthesizer write to the WAV which then gets converted to the MP3 and ends up on the HDD.

When I copy the file to $JBOSS_HOME/server/default/deploy, I don't get any exception but the application doesn't respond, after some time trying to access the application from the browser gives following in the log...   Hi All I've created my own little c# compiler using the tutorial on MSDN, and it's not working properly. • C# Speech Recognition

  I am making a Smart House Control System right now, and I have a little problem. I was thinking on using Cosmos for a base system, and adding the needed namespace libraries to it, but as the usual System.Speech.Recognition namespace depends too much on Windows Speech API, I have to forget about using it. So my question is, is there any (free if possible) voice recognition and/or speech speech synthesizer library for C#, what has the following: support for multi-language speaking extracting text content from speech sample synthesizing speech with selectable (or user-written) speech pattern (voice) A general usage, non-windows dependent library would be the best, and of course, if it was free too.

• .NET 4.0 Dynamic object used statically?

  I've gotten quite sick of XML configuration files in .NET and want to replace them with a format that is more sane. Therefore, I'm writing a config file parser for C# applications that will take a custom config file format, parse it, and create a Python source string that I can then execute in C# and use as a static object (yes that's right--I want a static (not the static type dyanamic) object in the end). Here's an example of what my config file looks like: // my custom config file format GlobalName: ExampleApp Properties { ExternalServiceTimeout: "120" } Python { // this allows for straight python code to be added to handle custom config def MyCustomPython: return "cool" } Using ANTLR I've created a Lexer/Parser that will convert this format to a Python script. So assume I have that all right and can take the .config above and run my Lexer/Parser on it to get a Python script out the back (this has the added benefit of giving me a validation tool for my config). By running the resultant script in C# // simplified example of getting the dynamic python object in C# // (not how I really do it) ScriptRuntime py = Python.CreateRuntime(); dynamic conf = py.UseFile("conftest.py"); dynamic t = conf.GetConfTest("test"); I can get a dynamic object that has my configuration settings. I can now get my config file settings in C# by invoking a dynamic method on that object: //C# calling a method on the dynamic python object var timeout = t.GetProperty("ExternalServiceTimeout"); //the config also allows for straight Python scripting (via the Python block) var special = t.MyCustonPython(); of course, I have no type safety here and no intellisense support. I have a dynamic representation of my config file, but I want a static one. I know what my Python object's type is--it is actually newing up in instance of a C# class. But since it's happening in python, it's type is not the C# type, but dynamic instead. What I want to do is then cast the object back to the C# type that I know the object is: // doesn't work--can't cast a dynamic to a static type (nulls out) IConfigSettings staticTypeConfig = t as IConfigSettings Is there any way to figure out how to cast the object to the static type? I'm rather doubtful that there is... so doubtful that I took another approach of which I'm not entirely sure about. I'm wondering if someone has a better way... So here's my current tactic: since I know the type of the python object, I am creating a C# wrapper class: public class ConfigSettings : IConfigSettings that takes in a dynamic object in the ctor: public ConfigSettings(dynamic settings) { this.DynamicProxy = settings; } public dynamic DynamicProxy { get; private set; } Now I have a reference to the Python dynamic object of which I know the type. So I can then just put wrappers around the Python methods that I know are there: // wrapper access to the underlying dynamic object // this makes my dynamic object appear 'static' public string GetSetting(string key) { return this.DynamicProxy.GetProperty(key).ToString(); } Now the dynamic object is accessed through this static proxy and thus can obviously be passed around in the static C# world via interface, etc: // dependency inject the dynamic object around IBusinessLogic logic = new BusinessLogic(IConfigSettings config); This solution has the benefits of all the static typing stuff we know and love while at the same time giving me the option of 'bailing out' to dynamic too: // the DynamicProxy property give direct access to the dynamic object var result = config.DynamicProxy.MyCustomPython(); but, man, this seems rather convoluted way of getting to an object that is a static type in the first place! Since the whole dynamic/static interaction world is new to me, I'm really questioning if my solution is optimal or if I'm missing something (i.e. some way of casting that dynamic object to a known static type) about how to bridge the chasm between these two universes.

• Database per application VS One big database for all applications

  Hello, I'm designing a few applications that will share 2 or 3 database tables and all of the other tables will be independent of each app. The shared databases contain mostly user information, and there might occur the case where other tables need to be shared, but that's my instinct speaking. I'm leaning over the one database for all applications solution because I want to have referential integrity, and I won't have to keep the same information up to date in each of the databases, but I'm probably going to end with a database of 100+ tables where only groups of ten tables will have related information. The database per application approach helps me keep everything more organized, but I don't know a way to keep the related tables in all databases up to date. So, the basic question is: which of both approaches do you recommend? Thanks, Jorge Vargas.
