  • C# return and display syntax issue

    - by thatdude
    I am having trouble passing the return value from TheMethod() to Main and displaying the word if the if statement is passed as true. I have thought of two ways of doing this, neither has worked but I think I am missing synatx. Using a return ?; non void method and then displaying the returned value. Using a void method and actually writing out(example below) So yes I am new at this, however I have made so many iterations everything is blending together and I have forgot what I have tried. Any help on the syntax be great for either of these ways. Basically I need it to iterate numbers 1,2,3,4 and depending on if the current iteration matches an expression in the if statements it will display a word. Example: if (3 = i) { Console.WriteLine("Word"); } Code: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Threading.Tasks; namespace Proj5 { class Program { int i = 0; static void Main(int i) { for (i = 0; i < 101; i++) { Console.WriteLine("test"); } } string TheMethod(int i) { string f = "Word1"; string b = "Word2"; if (i == 3) { return f; } if (i == 5) { return b; } if (0 == (i % 3)) { return f; } if (0 == i % 5) { return b; } else { return b; } } } }

  • Replace beginning words

    - by Newbie
I have the below tables. tblInput Id WordPosition Words -- ----------- ----- 1 1 Hi 1 2 How 1 3 are 1 4 you 2 1 Ok 2 2 This 2 3 is 2 4 me tblReplacement Id ReplacementWords --- ---------------- 1 Hi 2 are 3 Ok 4 This The tblInput holds the list of words while the tblReplacement hold the words that we need to search in the tblInput and if a match is found then we need to replace those. But the problem is that, we need to replace those words if any match is found at the beginning. i.e. in the tblInput, in case of ID 1, the words that will be replaced is only 'Hi' and not 'are' since before 'are', 'How' is there and it is not in the tblReplacement list. in case of Id 2, the words that will be replaced are 'Ok' & 'This'. Since these both words are present in the tblReplacement table and after the first word i.e. 'Ok' is replaced, the second word which is 'This' here comes first in the list of ID category 2 . Since it is available in the tblReplacement, and is the first word now, so this will also be replaced. So the desired output will be Id NewWordsAfterReplacement --- ------------------------ 1 How 1 are 1 you 2 is 2 me My approach so far: ;With Cte1 As( Select t1.Id ,t1.Words ,t2.ReplacementWords From tblInput t1 Cross Join tblReplacement t2) ,Cte2 As( Select Id, NewWordsAfterReplacement = REPLACE(Words,ReplacementWords,'') From Cte1) Select * from Cte2 where NewWordsAfterReplacement <> '' But I am not getting the desired output. It is replacing all the matching words. Urgent help needed*.( SET BASED )* I am using SQL Server 2005. Thanks

  • How to move my data from my old MacBook Pro to my new one?

    - by Tim Büthe
I just purchased a new MacBook Pro and already got an 2008 model. I wonder how I move all my data over to the new one. My first idea was, to use my Time Machine backup and restore from it, which seems to be a good idea and should work just fine regarding to this link: http://blog.duncandavidson.com/2008/01/restoring-from-time-machine.html. But, since my current MacBook got older Software on it, like iLife '08 instead of iLife '09 I would have to upgrade this afterwards. Is this correct, or does Time Machine does some magic to exclude well known software? And is it possible to reinstall or upgrade iLife with the included installation DVDs? My second idea is, to just swap the hard drives instead of using the Time machine backup. If it is not too complicated to remove the hdd, this should be the fastest way. This also has the benefit, that the 2008er MacBook then contains a brand new installation and I don't have to remove all my stuff or reinstall Mac OS before I give it away. My question on that second idea would be: does snow leopard handle this stuff correctly? I reboot with the new hardware and all just works fine? So in a nutshell: What would you do: restore from backup or swap drives? And what about the new software?

  • SharePoint 2010: CheckSuspiciousPhysicalPath exception

    - by Tommy Jakobsen
I just installed SharePoint 2010 on my Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 server with SQL Server 2008. Everything is installed on this single server, and I configured SharePoint 2010 as described here: http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/blogs/fromthefield/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=112 Everything installed correct, and the SQL databases were created. But when I try to access the administration site through http://server:47632/_admin/adminconfigintro.aspx, I get the following exception: [HttpException] at System.Web.Util.FileUtil.CheckSuspiciousPhysicalPath(String physicalPath) at System.Web.CachedPathData.GetConfigPathData(String configPath) at System.Web.CachedPathData.GetConfigPathData(String configPath) at System.Web.CachedPathData.GetConfigPathData(String configPath) at System.Web.HttpContext.GetFilePathData() at System.Web.Configuration.CustomErrorsSection.GetSettings(HttpContext context, Boolean canThrow) at System.Web.HttpResponse.ReportRuntimeError(Exception e, Boolean canThrow, Boolean localExecute) at System.Web.HttpRuntime.FinishRequest(HttpWorkerRequest wr, HttpContext context, Exception e) The same error occurs when accessing http://server:47632/. Do you have any ideas whats causing this? I haven't been able to find anything about this issue. Edit 1: I just tried reinstalling SharePoint 2010 while monitoring the error log. When I run the configuration wizard, the following errors show up in the event log: The site /sites/Help could not be created. • Develop for WinCE with VS2010

    - by Michael
I have a VS2003 WinForms app running on WinCE (running on proprietary hardware so a switch is out for now) and I'd like to know if I can upgrade it to VS2010 (or 2008). In doing so, I lose the option to deploy it to a WinCE emulator. Is this situation just broken, or do I have options.

  • Visual Studio 2010 Solution Find all References Not Working

    - by Jeremiah
I have a Visual Studio 2010 Solution that was imported from a Visual Studio 2008 solution that the Find all References does not work on. I've tried doing some searches on Google to try and figure this out but have come up empty handed. The find all references in VS2008 worked like a charm, we upgraded to 2010 and now no matter what file I'm in the Find All References doesn't return anything. Anyone have any idea how to possibly fix this or some good ways to "debug" the issue.

I just updated to VS2010 from 2008. Now i'm getting an exception from vector iterators. Anyone run into this too?

  • Reporting a WCF application's status to F5's Big IP products

    - by ng5000
In a Windows Server 2003 environment with a self hosted .Net 3.5/WCF application, how can an application report its status to a BigIP Local Traffic Manager? Example: One of my services errors. My custom WCF application hosting software (written because Windows Server 2008 is not yet available and I'm using WCF TCP bindings) detects this and wants to report itself as down until it can recover the errant service. It needs to report itself as down to the BigIP LTM so that it is no longer sent client originated requests.

  • Issues POSTing XML to OAuth and Signature Invalid with Ruby OAuth Gem

    - by thynctank
[Cross-posted from the OAuth Ruby Google Group. If you couldn't help me there, don't worry bout it] I'm working on integrating a project with TripIt's OAuth API and am running into a weird issue. I authenticate fine, I store and retrieve the token/secret for a given user with no problem, I can even make GET requests to a number of services using the gem. But when I try using the one service I need POST for, I'm getting a 401 "invalid signature" response. Perhaps I'm not understanding how to pass in data to the AccessToken's post method, so here's a sample of my code: xml = <<-XML <Request> <Trip> <start_date>2008-12-09</start_date> <end_date>2008-12-27</end_date> <primary_location>New York, NY</primary_location> </Trip> </Request> XML` response = access_token.post('/v1/create', {:xml => xml}, {'Content-Type' => 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded'}) I've tried this with and without escaping the xml string before hand. The guys at TripIt seemed to think that perhaps the xml param wasn't getting included in the signature_base_string, but when I output that (from lib/signature/base.rb) I see: POST&https%3A%2F%2Fapi.tripit.com%2Fv1%2Fcreate&oauth_consumer_key %3D%26oauth_nonce %3Djs73Y9caeuffpmPVc6lqxhlFN3Qpj7OhLcfBTYv8Ww%26oauth_signature_method %3DHMAC-SHA1%26oauth_timestamp%3D1252011612%26oauth_token %3D%26oauth_version%3D1.0%26xml%3D%25253CRequest%25253E %25250A%252520%252520%25253CTrip%25253E%25250A %252520%252520%252520%252520%25253Cstart_date%25253E2008-12-09%25253C %252Fstart_date%25253E%25250A %252520%252520%252520%252520%25253Cend_date%25253E2008-12-27%25253C %252Fend_date%25253E%25250A %252520%252520%252520%252520%25253Cprimary_location%25253ENew %252520York%252C%252520NY%25253C%252Fprimary_location%25253E%25250A %252520%252520%25253C%252FTrip%25253E%25250A%25253C%252FRequest%25253E %25250A This seems to be correct to me. I output signature (from the same file) and the output doesn't match the oauth_signature param of the Auth header in lib/client/ net_http.rb. It's been URL-encoded in the auth header. Is this correct? Anyone know if the gem is broken/if there's a fix somewhere? I'm finding it hard to trace through some of the code.

  • How should I proceed to upgrade from TFS2008 to TFS2010

    - by Stephane
Hi, We have a TFS2008 server with multiple team projects (about 20) What is the best way to migrate to TFS2010 without losing the history. I believe there are 2 ways, correct me if I'm wrong: installing a fresh tfs2010 and importing the DB from TFS 2008 or in-place upgrade. What is your recommendation and why? Are there any issue I should be prepared to face? Any advice is welcome.

  • Looking for tutorial to call WCF service from classic ASP

    - by George2
Hello everyone, I have some legacy classic ASP code (not ASP.Net, but ASP), and I want to call a WCF service which I developed by using VSTS 2008 + C# + .Net 3.5 and using basic Http Binding. Any reference samples? I heard the only way is -- we have to manually generate the tricky SOAP message, and parse SOAP response, is that true? :-) thanks in advance, George
