• New replicaset resident memory is larger than the existing sets

  From the mongodb tutorial of how to resync a set, I wipe all the files in /data/db and restart the mongod process to resync the data. Everything looks ok, I get the same number of documents as the existing two sets(primary and one secondary). However, when I check the memory on MMS. it shows me my new resynced set/mongod process has a different memory status value than the other two. For existing twos using db.serverStatus.mem shows like the following: "mem" : { "bits" : 64, "resident" : 239, "virtual" : 66348, "supported" : true, "mapped" : 32865, "mappedWithJournal" : 65730 } however, the new resynced set shows like: "mem" : { "bits" : 64, "resident" : 1239, "virtual" : 52447, "supported" : true, "mapped" : 25700, "mappedWithJournal" : 51400 } the resynced resident memory is 6-10 times more than the existing ones. I wouder if it is normal because all data comes in suddenly during the resyncing?? and even virtual and mapped value are different too. Can anyone explain?? thanks

  Here I am stuck with my htaccess code. I have been trying to figure it out for the last 11 hours why am I getting a redirect loop for the below code. EDIT: What I actually want is that if the user is from IE6 then he should be redirected to http version with www as prefix no matter if he types www or not in the url. And on the other hand if the user is from any other browsers then he should be redirected to a https version with www as prefix no matter if he types www in the url or not.

  I have one Map that contains some names and numbers Map<String,Integer> abc = new TreeMap<String,Integer>(); It works fine. I can put some values in it but when I call it in different class it gives me wrong order. For example: I putted abc.put("a",1); abc.put("b",5); abc.put("c",3); some time it returns the order (b,a,c) and some time (a,c,b). What is wrong with it? Is there any step that I am missing when I call this map?

• Snapping elements / conditional layouts

  Sorry for the extremely bad title, I have no other idea what to call this question. What I'm trying to do is this: have a RelativeLayout which has two children: one with layout_centerInParent="true" one with layout_alignParentBottom="true" However, when the device is in landscape mode, element (1) appears slightly over or under element (2). But, element (1) has enough space above it to appear above element (2). How could I make the layout so that if the screen is too small to center element (1) and make both elements not overlap, then align element (1) above (as in layout_above) element (2)?

• Handling missing data

  Say I have a simple helpdesk application which logs calls made by users. I would typically have such fields in a table relating to the call e.g. CallID, Description, CustomerID etc. I Would also have a table of customers including CustomerID, Username, Password, FullName etc. Now when a user is deleted from the customers table then the inner join between the calls table and the users table to find out historically which user logged a call would produce no results. How do people usually deal with this? Have seperate customer and useraccount tables Just disable the accounts so the data is still available Record the customers name in the calls table as a seperate field. or any other methods / suggestions?

The results of the execution is correct but the debugging experience is misleading. Is this a known issue? Is the behavior in VS 2010 the same?

  I am doing an integration with a support system (Helpstream) and I am currently working on doing some in-app context sensitive help. I have put in a link that will send the user to a section of Helpstream that will allow them to ask a question. Problem is, there are buttons on the page that call Javascript that will bring up a lightbox where the user fills out a form to submit a question. What I need to do is have that form come up after the user goes through the link, so essentially run the Javascript once the user hits the page. The call that I have to implement is NewTopic.CreateNew({type:"Question"}) Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  I am getting the java.lang.NullPointerException on createTabContent for the following code. There are two tabspecs. When I called and set the tab , changed the tabs for the first time it is ok. But when i called again while I am on the second tab, its hit the null pointer exception for line : NoStudentText.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); I will show No Student Text if there is no data for the student list.   I want to play a wav file synchronously on the gui thread, but my call to PlaySync is returning early (and prematurely stopping playback). The wav file is 2-3 minutes. I tried lengthening the load timeout, but that did nothing. I'm not quite sure what the best way to get the duration of a wav file is without using code written by somebody who isn't me/Microsoft. I suppose this can be calculated since I know the file size, and all of the encoding properties (bitrate, sample rate, sample size, etc) are consistent across all files I intend to play. Can somebody elaborate on how to calculate the duration of a wav file using this info? That is, if nobody has an idea about why PlaySync is returning early. Of Note: I encountered a similar problem in VB 6 a while ago, but that was caused by a timeout, which I don't suspect to be a problem here. Shorter (< 1min) files seem to play fine, so I might decide to manually edit the longer files down, then play them separately with multiple calls.

• "Inlining" (kind of) functions at runtime in C

  Hi, I was thinking about a typical problem that is very JIT-able, but hard to approach with raw C. The scenario is setting up a series of function pointers that are going to be "composed" (as in maths function composition) once at runtime and then called lots and lots of times. Doing it the obvious way involves many virtual calls, that are expensive, and if there are enough nested functions to fill the CPU branch prediction table completely, then the performance with drop considerably. In a language like Lisp, I could probably process the code and substitute the "virtual" call by the actual contents of the functions and then call compile to have an optimized version, but that seems very hacky and error prone to do in C, and using C is a requirement for this problem ;-) So, do you know if there's a standard, portable and safe way to achieve this in C?   I have a PHP web application environment. I am using Slim Framework as REST interface for my application. My application front-end is written using Backbone.js and jQuery. There is a utility (.jar file) which when I use command line makes a remote call (I guess this is a Web Service) which returns me the data. how do I best incorporate this into my webapplication described on top? My application front end will have a Button that should make an AJAX call to the REST Interface and fetch the data as JSON. • I want to make my own Malloc

  I want to make my own malloc/free so I can make a precise copying allocator. Any gurus have any tips and suggestions? I have a few questions for now: Should I just malloc large chunks of memory, and then distribute from that so I don't have to call the system calls? How are copying collectors usually done? I would imagine that this part is a bit complicated to do efficiently. My naive implementation would just malloc a block the size of the remaining objects which would require 2x the space.

• How to restart Linux from inside a C++ program?

  I have a Qt 4 GUI where I need to have a option in a drop-down menu that allows the user to choose to restart the computer. I realize this might seem redunant with the ability to restart the computer in other ways, but the choice needs to stay there. I've tried using system() to call the following: a suid-root shell script a non-suid shell script a suid-root binary program and all of them just cause reboot: must be superuser to be printed. Using system() to call reboot directly does the same thing. I'm not especially attached to using system() to do this, but it seemed like the most direct choice. How can I reboot the system from the GUI?
