  • Chrome Web Browser does not Work While IE does

    When I try to start Chrome Web Browser, "User Account Control" window opens and ask whether I give permission to this application to make changes in my computer. I give the permission, Chrome opens but could not connect to the Internet. There is no error in the opened page. But when I try to connect to internet via IE, it works. I've been experiencing this issue since yesterday, I was able to use Chrome before.

    Courtesy of goal.com Check the pointer that I drew. It doesn't point the right arrow (-), however, it looks like hover on that arrow (arrow turns into green color). Moreover, when I press at that area, it will be directed to link that is specified by that button. Another bug is on the scroll bar. The display show the scroll bar is shifted left, so there is a gap. However, the area that can be clicked remain at the right end of the page.

    Does replacing chrome User Data with my own - works without leaving any trace behind? Where else chrome writes data outside of User Data folder? I used to start office work by removing chrome User Data, replacing it with my own User Data copied from my external drive, saving the original User Data to other folder. Before leaving in the evening, I will take back my own User Data, and bring back the original User Data where it is originally saved. Is this process advisable? Would I be safe this way or if not, where else does chrome save data outside of User Data folder in AppData? Also, how is the process in Mozilla Firefox?

  • "Press Tab to search <site>" in Chrome not working

    The problem After partially entering a URL like meta.st, Chrome adds in the rest of the URL slected in blue and says "Press Tab to search Meta Stack Overflow". But on pressing, it just moves the cursor to the next item like in a normal text-field. Other info I'm on Windows 7 Home Basic. My Chrome version number is 22.0.1229.52 beta-m (beta channel). This was working before. What I've tried I've reported it in Chrome (by going to Options Tools Report an issue...). I've also tried deleting all my custom search engines (they might've been interfering) and also tried creating a new profile. I also googled, but to no avail. How do I fix this? Thanks.

    I'm using 8.0.552.224 Chrome. Sometime, over the holidays, my bookmarklets nearly completely disappeared. The bookmarklets are present in the default screen that shows when I open a new tab. However, when I navigate away from that tab (browse further), the bookmarklets bar (usually appearing below the address field) is gone. Can anybody tell me why the bookmarklets are no longer persisteent and how to get them back

    I'm using the Chrome Browser. I enjoy the "automatic filling" that it uses to fill in things like my address when I'm shopping online. Sometimes I get a message that says: "This webpage has disabled automatic filling for this form" Is there a way that I can tell Chrome to ignore what the webpage wants and just give me what I want?   • Websocket handshake response not forwarded from TCP to client

    I am trying to create a websocket server. I can see the websocket client's opening handhshake. My response to it is received by the client laptop (I can see this on wireshark). So the TCP connection has been established. But the client (a chrome websocket client extension) does not receive the handshake packet. What could be a possible reason for TCP to not forward the handshake to the client or for the client to not be able to read the TCP message?   • Mac OS X Lion and KeepassX

    I installed KeepassX on my new Mac which I am still learning the ropes on. I downloaded the program to allow autofill on Chrome ( KeePassHttp.plgx ). It says it needs to be put into directory of KeepassX, but I can't drag it into the application file and I'm not sure yet how to manipulate Terminal. Is terminal what I need to use or is there another way to put it in directory? At this point it is on the Chrome interface, but says it can't detect or make a connection with KX

    The bad thing about Flash video was that it required a third-party plugin to play the content. The good thing was I could select which content to play; using the click-to-play feature in Firefox and Chrome. But now that HTML5 video is getting popular, I see a lot of ads popping into view again. They are not only a distraction, they hog resources on my computer and make the fans spin full speed. Is there a way to disable HTML5 audio/video content by default, and enable it only selectively?

    I post this with much trepidation after my baptism by fire recently, and knowing that this question has been asked and answered already. My problem is that I cannot seem to remove start.funmoods as the default search engine when I type into the omnibox in Chrome - I have followed the instruction in the answer to the previous question on this topic. In particular: I deleted funmods using the control panel - add/remove programs Under wrench-tools-extensions funmods is not mentioned Under wrench-settings-manage search engines, there is nothing listed at all. Restarted chrome and rebooting have not helped.

  • Java plugin doesn't work in Chrome -- how can I fix this?

    This used to work fine until a week or so ago, and I am not sure what has changed since then. I have just uninstalled what seems to be all the JVM stuff on my machine and reinstalled with the latest recommended Java version from java.com (1.6, update 23). The plugin works fine in IE and Firefox, but in Chrome it fails and the pages that try to use the plugin act as if Java is not installed. I have tried this in both Chrome 8 and Chrome 9 with the same result. How can I diagnose and fix this?

    I created a JavaScript file, and named it test.user.js. I tried double clicking it, dragging & dropping it into Chrome and opening it with Chrome, but it won't install. I've already installed the dev version of Chrome, because it's stated somewhere that it's needed, but I can't get it to work. Then, I tried searching for a Chrome Greasemonkey addon, just to see that it was no further developed on, because Chrome has built-in support.     In Windows 7 (and perhaps earlier), the default "Open File" dialog box allows you to type a full URL into the "File name" section as if it were a file path, e.g. "http://www.example.com/pic.gif" instead of "C:/windows/pictures/pic.gif". When uploading a file to a website on the client side - say, an image - this allows the client to upload a picture located on a server accessible via the URL instead of downloading the image, saving it locally, then referencing the local image in the "Open File" dialog. It's a great option for Windows users. I have three separate questions: What is this procedure formally called? How do I describe this succinctly so that my searches for more information are fruitful? Can something similar be done in Mac OSX, Chromium OS, or a Linux environment? If so, how? Thanks!

I can't use the batch feature because the files don't start or end with the same characters e.g. 001...100. Any ideas/

    Chrome has just suddenly being blocked by my company for accessing internet. Instead, IE still works fine. It blocks the connection, the error says that my Chrome connection is timeout & the server is not responding Error 118 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT): The operation timed out). I guess the reason behind this is to standardize all user's browser for only using IE for security reason. I have tried to change the user-agent string (--user-agent="... ") so that the Chrome will pretend to be as IE. and yet, still not working! Could anyone shed my problem here? IE is just not comfortable so-called for surfing the web!

    I have had this problem for a couple of years, probably due to the fact that all my settings get transferred when I log into Chrome: Most videos on the net play fine using Chrome, but on certain site none of the videos will play. This is not due to wrong codecs or something, because opening the same video using Chrome's Private Browsing Mode will play it just fine. Since most (all?) extensions are disabled when using Private Browsing Mode, I guessed the problem had to be found in my extensions, so I disabled all and also disabled developer mode. The problem persisted ... Example html5 video from the W3C plays fine This video from Pecha Kucha does not

  • aptana/eclipse blocks other apps

    Hi, I've got a fresh win7 installation, the only apps installed so far are aptana (beta 3)/eclipse and firefox + chrome (except antivirus and drivers) Every time I start aptana, chrome and firefox are blocked, so firefox can't load a webpage (or sometimes takes veeeery long) and chrome doesn't even take care of events (so for example hovering over a link doesn't change the cursor and a click does...nothing or typing in an url, press enter - nothing happens) First I thought, aptana downloads something and blocks my internet connection... but IE works well and also there are no signs in the taskmanager (cpu%, network or memory) When I close Aptana, all works as before. I tried updating Java, which didn't help... On my office-computer I use the same apps and it works perfect. Got any ideas? TIA, waquner

    Is it possible to let the Chrome browser prefer all DNS resolvable URLs over a search? Everytime I use a local name not matching a usual domain scheme, I got search results for it. I first thought that no nonsense DNS lookup is made if the URL seems to be a search keyword, however Chrome always detect this condition and asks me if I like to go to my domain instead. So the DNS lookup is made anyway.

    After Firefox broke my add-ons yet again, I decided to give Chrome a second look. To my surprise all the add-ons are available. What I am missing though is the drop-down search bar. First, I've disabled the search from the location bar. Now I want to add a combo box that is always visible where I can select the engine to do searching. I downloaded a search extension (Search Box), but it's an icon that needs to be clicked before you can interact with it: TL;DR; I want a box that is always visible and can change the search engine from a drop-down. Is there an extension like this available in Chrome?
