  • os.walk in python not running with cmd line parameter passed as path

    - by kartiku
Hello, I needed to find the number of files in a folder on the system. This is what i used: file_count = sum((len(f) for _, _, f in os.walk('path'))) This works fine when we specify the path as a string in quotes, but when I enter a variable name that holds the path, type(file_count) is a generator object, and hence cannot be used as an integer. How to solve this and why does this happen?

I tried the following: class Product < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessor :my_price validates_numericality_of :customer_price, :greater_than_or_equal_to => my_price ... end (customer_price is a column in the Products table in the database, while my_price isn't.) Here is the result: NameError in ProductsController#index undefined local variable or method `my_price' for #<Class:0x313b648> What is the right way to do this in Rails 3 ?

  • What web servers use `COOKIE` instead of `HTTP_COOKIE`?

    - by Smack my batch up
In the source code of the Perl module CGI.pm, in the submodule CGI::Cookies.pm, there is the following line: $raw_cookie = $ENV{HTTP_COOKIE} || $ENV{COOKIE}; I'm interested in $ENV{COOKIE} here. Are there any web servers (obsolete or otherwise) which transmit cookie information using the COOKIE environment variable instead of the HTTP_COOKIE used by Apache? I've never seen COOKIE and other CGI libraries don't seem to support it.

  • Grid 960 bug in Internet Explorer 8?

    - by mg1075
If you go to the "Variable Grid System" generator and have: column width = 20 number of columns = 12 and gutter width = 60 ...the system provides a content width of 900 and a full width of 960. http://www.spry-soft.com/grids/ Now, this is all fine and dandy in Firefox, Chrome, and even IE6, but when you load those settings in IE8, you end up with the actual full width as 1000px, not 960px. Has this issue been encountered before?

Suppose I have the following struct and function returning a pointer: typedef struct { int num; void *nums; int size; } Mystruct; Mystruct *mystruct(int num, int size) { .... } I want to define any Mystruct pointer using the above function. • Unsigned Integer

    - by viswanathan
I was curious to know what would happen if i assign a negative value to an unsigned variable. The code will look somewhat like this. unsigned int nVal = 0; nVal = -5; It didnt give me any compiler error. When i ran the nVal was having strange value. Could it be that some 2's complement value gets assigned to nVal.

  • Copy folder contents using VBScript

    - by LukeR
I am trying to copy the contents of certain folders to another folder using VBScript. The goal is to enumerate a user's AD groups and then copy specific folder content based on those groups. I have code, which is currently not working. Dim Group,User, objFSO,objFolder, source, target,StrDomain StrDomain = "domain.local" FolderBase = "\\domain.local\netlogon\workgrps\icons" Set net = CreateObject("wscript.network") Struser = net.username target = "\\fs1\users\"&net.username&"\Desktop\AppIcons\" DispUserInWhichGroup() Function DispUserInWhichGroup() On Error Resume Next Set objFSO=CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") Set User = GetObject("WinNT://" & strDomain & "/" & strUser & ",user") For Each Group In User.Groups source = FolderBase & Group.name Set objFolder = GetFolder(source) For Each file in objFolder.Files objFSO.CopyFile source &"\"& file.name, target&"\"&file.name Next Next End Function This has been cobbled together from various sources, and I'm sure most of it is right, I just can't get it working completely. Any assistance would be great. Cheers.

  • mysql_query -- question about results "location"

    - by Andrew Heath
Forgive me if this is a particularly stupid question! mysql_query($query) returns a boolean, but you can also assign it to a variable $results = mysql_query($query) and then use the other mysql_ functions to extract data. Out of curiosity, how does mysq_query($query) act as both a boolean and a data container at the same time? What's happening "under the hood" during these steps? (yes, I am a n00b..., please be kind!)

  • How to find an XPath query to Element/Element without namespaces (XmlSerializer, fragment)?

    - by Veksi
Assume this simple XML fragment in which there may or may not be the xml declaration and has exactly one NodeElement as a root node, followed by exactly one other NodeElement, which may contain an assortment of various number of different kinds of elements. <?xml version="1.0"> <NodeElement xmlns="xyz"> <NodeElement xmlns=""> <SomeElement></SomeElement> </NodeElement> </NodeElement> How could I go about selecting the inner NodeElement and its contents without the namespace? For instance, "//*[local-name()='NodeElement/NodeElement[1]']" (and other variations I've tried) doesn't seem to yield results. As for in general the thing that I'm really trying to accomplish is to Deserialize a fragment of a larger XML document contained in a XmlDocument. Something like the following var doc = new XmlDocument(); doc.LoadXml(File.ReadAllText(@"trickynodefile.xml")); //ReadAllText to avoid Unicode trouble. var n = doc.SelectSingleNode("//*[local-name()='NodeElement/NodeElement[1]']"); using(var reader = XmlReader.Create(new StringReader(n.OuterXml))) { var obj = new XmlSerializer(typeof(NodeElementNodeElement)).Deserialize(reader); I believe I'm missing just the right XPath expression, which seem to be rather elusive. Any help much appreciated!
