• Database Vault integration available

  One of the major features of Oracle Utilities Application Framework V4.1 is the provision of a base solution for integration to the Database Vault product. Database Vault is part of Oracle’s security portfolio of product and allows database user permissions to be locked down to only allow appropriate users appropriate access to the product data. By default, when you install the product database, administrators and SYSDBA users have full DML (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE access) to the schemas they own and in the case of the SYSDBA users, all schemas on the database. This can be perceived as an issue. Database Vault allows an additional layer of security to disable inappropriate access. In Oracle Utilities Application Framework, a prebuilt Database Vault solution has been provided to provide base DML access to product data for product users only. The solution is shipped with the database installation files and includes a set of SQL files to create, disable, enable and delete the Database Vault objects. The solution contains a Database Vault Realm, RuleSets, Rules and Command Rules that can be used as is or extended to meet site specific needs. The solution is consistent with other Database Vault solutions provided for other Oracle applications such as PeopleSoft, E-Business Suite, JD-Edwards and Siebel. Customers familiar with the database vault solutions for those products will recognize the similarities between the solutions. Az alábbi ismerteto nem teljes köru, mivel számos olyan termék van (Data Masking, Real Application Testing, Real User Experience Insight, Application Testing Suite), melyek kapcsolódnak az Enterprise Manager-hez, azonban licencelésük másképp muködik. Az Enterprise Manager licenceléssel kapcsolatban az elsodleges információ forrás a Licensing Information doksi. A legfontosabb információk: - A Grid Control keretrendszer (Agent-ek és a konzol az alapfunkciókkal - lásd késobb) önmagában ingyenes, sot restricted-use licencet tartalmaz Oracle Database-re, amennyiben azt csak az Oracle Management Repository céljára használják. Fontos, hogy ez nem tartalmaz egyéb Oracle Database opciókat, mint például a RAC! Hasonlóképpen az Oracle WebLogic Server is kizárólagosan az Oracle Management Server kiszolgálására használható ingyenesen, de fürtözés nélkül. - A Grid Control alapfunkcionalitása: Discovery, Groups, Job Scheduling, Real time availability, Performance & monitoring, Target Home Pages, Administration, Console alerts - Az alapfunkcionalitás felügyelt termékektol függoen bovítheto Management Pack, Plug-in és Connector termékekkel. Alapvetoen ezek licencelése mindig a monitorozott, felügyelt termék licenceléséhez kell, hogy igazodjon. Tehát például ha 2 adatbázis szerverre szeretnénk Diagnostic Pack-ek használni, akkor mindkettore kell CPU vagy NUP (Named User Plus) licencet vásárolni, attól függoen az adatbázis maga milyen licenccel rendelkezik. Megjegyzem ezt a konkrét Management Pack-ek kizárólag Enterprise Edition Database esetén lehet alkalmazni. - Számos fizetos funkció külön telepítés nélkül is elérheto a Grid Control felületén (ugyanez igaz Database Control-ra és Fusion Middleware Control-ra is). Hogy elkerüljük a licenc sértést, érdemes ellenorízni hogy az adott környezetben mely Management Pack-ek használata került bekapcsolásra. Ezt a Grid Control Setup menüjében a Management Pack Access almenüben tehetjük meg legegyszerubben. Részleteseb leírás itt található. Database Diagnostic és Tuning Pack adatbázis szintu kikapcsolására is lehetoség van, hogy parancssorból se lehessen használni oket, errol korábban már írtam.   Using CMSDK in a production environment often requires a robust, reliable and failover enabled repository. When using Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC) with your CMSDK repository you need to have a specific configuration in place to support such a setup. This post will explain the configuration steps required when running CMSDK 9.0.4.6 with Oracle WebLogic Server (WLS).In the previous CMSDK 9.0.4.2 version a RAC enabled connect string looked like this: (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = rac1)(PORT = 1521))(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = rac2)(PORT = 1521))(LOAD_BALANCE = NO)(FAILOVER = ON)(CONNECT_DATA =(SERVICE_NAME = rac)(failover_mode = (type=select)(method=basic)))CMSDK 9.0.4.6 makes use of data sources to connect to the underlying database. These data sources are configured inside your Application Server, such as Oracle WebLogic Server.In Oracle WebLogic Server 10.3.4, a single data source implementation has been introduced to support an RAC cluster. It responds to Fast Application Notification (FAN) events to provide Fast Connection Failover (FCF), Runtime Connection Load-Balancing (RCLB), and RAC instance graceful shutdown. XA affinity is supported at the global transaction Id level. The new feature is called WebLogic Active GridLink for RAC; which is implemented as the GridLink data source within WebLogic Server.This GridLink data source also works with Oracle Single Client Access Name (SCAN). SCAN is a feature used in RAC environments that provides a single name for clients to access any Oracle Database running in a cluster. You can think of SCAN as a cluster alias for databases in the cluster. • Introducing RedPatch

  The Ksplice team is happy to announce the public availability of one of our git repositories, RedPatch. RedPatch contains the source for all of the changes Red Hat makes to their kernel, one commit per fix and we've published it on oss.oracle.com/git. With RedPatch, you can access the broken-out patches using git, browse them online via gitweb, and freely redistribute the source under the terms of the GPL. This is the same policy we provide for Oracle Linux and the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK). Users can freely access the source, view the commit logs and easily identify the changes that are relevant to their environments. To understand why we've created this project we'll need a little history. In early 2011, Red Hat changed how they released their kernel source, going from a tarball that had individual patch files to shipping the kernel source as one giant tarball with a single patch for all Red Hat-introduced changes. For most people who work in the kernel this is merely an inconvenience; driver developers and other out-of-kernel module developers can see the end result to make sure their module still performs as expected. For Ksplice, we build individual updates for each change and rely on source patches that are broken-out, not a giant tarball. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to take the right patches to create individual updates for each fix, and to skip over the noise — like a change that speeds up bootup — which is unnecessary for an already-running system. We’ve been taking the monolithic Red Hat patch tarball and breaking it into smaller commits internally ever since they introduced this change. At Oracle, we feel everyone in the Linux community can benefit from the work we already do to get our jobs done, so now we’re sharing these broken-out patches publicly. In addition to RedPatch, the complete source code for Oracle Linux and the Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK) is available from both ULN and our public yum server, including all security errata. But CHAMADOResponse still have the namespaces declaration. I'm pretty sure that it should not be done like that. In fact, I don't believe that the namespaces are the problem at all. This project has been hard since the begining, as we had to create services that matched legacy wsdl. My question is: is there a way that I could remove all that namespaces declaration from the web service response?

• How to deploy jBPM 3.2.2 console on Oracle 10g iAS

  Hi! Does anybody have experience regarding deployment of the jBPM Administration Console on Oracle 10g iAS? I successfully deployed it using an .ear, security mappings working, I can even login to the console, Hibernate finds the JNDI datasource but it cannot find the TransactionManager. I see no log, only the exception thrown in the jsf page: Can anybody help me? • Metro UsernameToken Policy

  I created a web services client prototype using api's available in weblogic 10.3. I've been told I need to use Metro 2.0 instead (it's already being used for other projects). The problem I have encounter is that the WSDL does not include any Security Policy information but a UsernameToken is required for each method call. In weblogic I was able to write my own policy xml file and instantiate my service with it (see below), however I can not seem to figure out how to do the same using Metro. • WSIT, Maven, and wsimport -- Can They Work Together?

  Hi all, I'm working on a small-ish multi-module project in Maven. We've separated the UI from the database layer using Web Services, and thanks to the jaxws-maven-plugin, the creation of the WSDL and WS client are more or less handled for us. (The plugin is essentially a wrapper around wsgen and wsimport.) So far so good. The problem comes when I try to layer WSIT security into the picture. NetBeans allows me to generate the security metadata easily, but wsimport seems completely incapable of dealing with anything beyond a Basic-auth level of security. So I guess my question here is, to get a WSIT-compliant client, am I stuck abandoning Maven and the jaxws plugin altogether? Is there a way to get a WSIT client to auto-generate? Or will I need to generate the client by hand? Let me know if you need any additional info beyond what I've written here. I'm deploying to Tomcat, although that doesn't seem to be an issue, as Maven seems happy to pull Metro into the deployed WAR file. Thanks in advance!

• Is it normal for a programmer with 2 years experience to take a long time to code simple programs?

  Hi all, I'm a relatively new programmer (18 months on the scene), and I'm finally getting to the point where I'm comfortable accepting projects and developing solutions under minimal supervision. Unfortunately, this also means that I've become acutely aware of my performance shortfalls, the most prevalent of which is the amount of time it takes me to develop, test, and submit algorithms for review. A great example of what I'm talking about occurred this week when I was tasked with developing a simple XML web service (asp.net 3.5) callable via client-side JavaScript, that accepts a single parameter and returns a dataset output to a modal window (please note this is the first time I've had to develop a web service and have had ZERO experience creating/consuming them...let alone calling them from JS client side). Keeping a long story short -- I worked on it for 4 days straight, all day each day, for a grand total of 36 hours, not including the time I spent dwelling on the problem in the shower, the morning commute, and laying awake in bed at night. I learned a great deal about web services and xml/json/javascript...but was called in for a management review to discuss the length of time it took me to develop the solution. In the meeting, I was praised for the quality of my work and was in fact told that my effort was commendable. However, they (senior leads and pm's) weren't impressed with the amount of time it took me to develop the solution and expressed that they would have liked to see the solution in roughly 1/3 of the time it took me. I guess what concerns me the most is that I've identified this pattern as common for myself. Between online videos, book research, and trial/error coding...if its something I haven't seen before, I can spend up to two weeks on a problem that seems to only take the pros in the videos moments to code up. And of course, knowing that management isn't happy with this pattern has shaken me up a bit. To sum up, I have some very specific questions I'd like to ask, and would greatly appreciate your objective professional feedback. Is my experience as a junior programmer common among new developers? Or is it possible that I'm just not cut out for the work? If you suspect that my experience is not common and that there may be an aptitude issue, do you have any suggestions/solutions that I could propose to management to help bring me up to speed? Do seasoned, professional programmers ever encounter knowledge barriers that considerably delay deliverables? When you started out in the industry, did you know how to "do it all"? If not, how long did it take you to be perceived as "proficient"? Was it a natural progression of trial and error, or was there a particular zen moment when you knew you had achieved super saiyen power level? • SQL CLR Stored Procedure and Web Service

  I am current working on a task in which I am needing to call a method in a web service from a CLR stored procedure. A bit of background: Basically, I have a task that requires ALOT of crunching. If done strictly in SQL, it takes somewhere around 30-45 mins to process. If I pull the same process into code, I can get it complete in seconds due to being able to optimize the processing so much more efficiently. The only problem is that I have to have this process set as an automated task in SQL Server. In that vein, I have exposed the process as a web service (I use it for other things as well) and want the SQL CLR sproc to consume the service and execute the code. This allows me to have my automated task. The problem: I have read quite a few different topics regarding how to consume a web service in a CLR Sproc and have done so effectivly. I have attempted using impersonation in the CLR sproc and a few other things. Any suggestions? What am I missing?

• Can I make Axis2 generate a WSDL with 'unwrapped' types?

  I'm trying to consume a hello world AXIS2 SOAP web service using a PHP client. The Java class is written in Netbeans and the AXIS2 aar file is generated using the Netbeans AXIS2 plugin. • Accessing a web service and a HTTP interface using certificate authentication

  It is the first time I have to use certificate authentication. A commercial partner expose two services, a XML Web Service and a HTTP service. I have to access both of them with .NET clients. What I have tried 0. Setting up the environment I have installed the SSLCACertificates (on root and two intermediate) and the client certificate in my local machine (win 7 professional) using certmgr.exe. 1. For the web service I have the client certificate (der). The service will be consumed via a .NET proxy.
