  Hey ! I am making an application which is a user interface to access 2 types of databases - SQLite and MSSQL server. The thing is, SQLite doesnt need to be "installed" since its just a flatfile database, but on the other hand, SQLserver (Express/normal) need to be installed before use. My Question is simple: Is there a way by which i can find out if an instance of SQLserver has been installed on the local machine by using a C# program?

  Inspired by this discussion, after some googling I wasn't able to find an answer to a pretty simple question regarding methods in Ruby: are they objects or not? There are different opinions here and there, and I would really like to hear, let's say, an in-depth explanation. I'm aware of Object#method method, which takes a method name and returns a Method instance, but, on the other hand, there's a similar thing you can do with blocks to make them into Proc instances, and blocks aren't objects, so what makes methods any different?

I found some code (sorry, lost the link) that does this in pure VB6 code but it's a bit slow (2-5 seconds) and I'm displaying pictures in real time so I need something faster. I seem to recall seeing some examples of doing this with the GDI+ library. An example in VB6 would be ideal, but I can probably work with a simple example with Windows API calls in another language.

I know some of them: 1) of course if the unit is never used across the full project there will be useless resource consuption 2) the code insight will give useless results 3) the code insight will be slower But imagine a simple case: I have a project with 2 forms, I use StrUtils in one of them but I declared StrUtils in both of them...
