  • How do I "step over" jQuery code while debugging?

    - by Scott Rippey
While stepping through a script that uses jQuery, I just want to test the code I wrote. I don't want to step into the jQuery file -- I'm not debugging jQuery, just my own file. Are there any ways to tell a debugger to not step into the jQuery file? I use Visual Studio + Internet Explorer, as well as Firefox + Firebug for stepping through code ... and both seem to love to step through dozens of jQuery statements. For example, say I have a script like this: $("div").each(function() { $(this).hide(); }); I would like to press "step into" and not see the implementation of ".each()" etc... In C#, this is possible by using the [DebuggerStepThrough()] attribute on a class. But that doesn't help with JavaScript.

  • How can I get Ruby to treat the index of a string as a character (rather than the ASCII code)?

    - by user336777
I am checking to see if the last character in a directory path is a '/'. How do you get ruby to treat the specific index of a string as a character rather than the associated ASCII code? For example the following always returns false: dir[dir.length - 1] == '/' This is because dir[dir.length - 1] returns the ASCII code 47 (rather than '/'). Any thoughts on how to interpret 47 as '/'? Or is there a completely different way to handle this in the first place? thanks.

  • js code works for one variable(?), how to make it work for many?

    - by jerry87
    I have working code of js, it shows different div for selected option. <html> <head> <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $('#box1').hide(); $('#box2').hide(); $('#box3').hide(); $("#thechoices").change(function(){ $("#" + this.value).show().siblings().hide(); }); $("#thechoices").change(); }); </script> </head> <body> <select id="thechoices"> <option value="box1">Box 1</option> <option value="box2">Box 2</option> <option value="box3">Box 3</option> </select> <!-- the DIVs --> <div id="boxes"> <div id="box1"><p>Box 1 stuff...</p></div> <div id="box2"><p>Box 2 stuff...</p></div> <div id="box3"><p>Box 3 stuff...</p></div> </div> </body> </html> Please, I have no js experience, so I don't know how to make it work several times on one page for many "thechoices". Something like copy paste but more suitable than this: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $('#box1').hide(); $('#box2').hide(); $('#box3').hide(); $('#box4').hide(); $('#box5').hide(); $('#box6').hide(); $("#thechoices").change(function(){ $("#" + this.value).show().siblings().hide(); }); $("#thechoices2").change(function(){ $("#" + this.value).show().siblings().hide(); }); $("#thechoices").change(); }); $("#thechoices2").change(); }); </script> </head> <body> <select id="thechoices"> <option value="box1">Box 1</option> <option value="box2">Box 2</option> <option value="box3">Box 3</option> </select> <!-- the DIVs --> <div id="boxes"> <div id="box1"><p>Box 1 stuff...</p></div> <div id="box2"><p>Box 2 stuff...</p></div> <div id="box3"><p>Box 3 stuff...</p></div> </div> <select id="thechoices2"> <option value="box4">1</option> <option value="box5">2</option> <option value="box6">3</option> </select> <!-- the DIVs --> <div id="boxes"> <div id="box4"><p>1 stuff...</p></div> <div id="box5"><p>2 stuff...</p></div> <div id="box6"><p>3 stuff...</p></div> </div> I know you can help me, it seems to be simple but I can't handle with this. How can I change my second code to work in the same way but not only for two selectors. I need it for many. Don't want to copy paste the same section like in my second code.

  • How to create make .so files from code written in c or c++ that are usable from python

    - by None
Looking at python modules and at code in the "lib-dnyload" directory in the python framework, I noticed whenever code is creating some kind of gui or graphic it imports a non-python file with a .so extension. And there are tons .so files in "lib-dnyload". From googling things I found that these files are called shared objects and are written in c or c++. I have a mac and I use gcc. I want to know how to make shared object files that are accessible via python. Mainly just how to make shared objects with gcc using mac os x.

  • How to find the real problem line in my code with Application Verifier ?

    - by Newbie
I am now trying to use this Application Verifier debugging tool, but i am stuck, first of all: it breaks the program at a line that is simple variable set line (s = 1; for example) Secondly, now when i run this program under debugger, my program seems to have changed its behaviour: i am drawing image, and now one of the colors has changed o_O, all those parts of the image that i dont draw on, has changed the color to #CDCDCD when it should be #000000, and i already set the default color to zero, still it becomes to #CDCDCD. How do i make any sense to this? Here is the output AV gave me: VERIFIER STOP 00000002: pid 0x8C0: Access violation exception. 14873000 : Invalid address causing the exception 004E422C : Code address executing the invalid access 0012EB08 : Exception record 0012EB24 : Context record AVRF: Noncontinuable verifier stop 00000002 encountered. Terminating process ... The program '[2240] test.exe: Native' has exited with code -1073741823 (0xc0000001).

  • How can I get class, property, and method data from files without executing their code, similar to R

    - by Chris
I have a bunch of PHP files with classes, in them (although I can't be 100% sure that they won't have code outside of classes in them too), and I need to parse these files to get information about the classes, such as the names of the classes, the methods, the properties, whether they are private/public/static, etc. I looked at PHP's reflection classes and this is very close to what I want but the reflection doesn't seem to use external files and it appears to need to define the classes first. I need to make sure that none of the code is executed and I will be editing the files so I can't guarantee that they will even be error-free. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • Can we execute methods / code in XCode just like in Visual Studio?

    - by balexandre
Visual Studio is one of the best developer IDE of all times, and now was improved with multithreading debugging and much more. My question is regarding XCode and the ability to execute code just like we do in Visual Studio. Let's assume an object in a view and I want to run, let's say: [pickerView setHidden:YES]; in a breakpoint just to see if in that break point I could actually hide the object. I can't find any place for this in the XCode Debugger Am I missing something or I can't execute code that is not in the files already? like in Visual Studio Watch List or Immediate Window

  • Need help with this question: Write Java code which reads numbers from the keyboard.....

    - by Chris
Write Java code which reads numbers from the keyboard until zero is entered. Only the positive numbers entered are to be added to a variable-sized collection. This is what I have so far: import java.lang.*; import java.util.*; import java.io.*; import java.net.*; public class Demo1App extends Object { public static void main(String[] argStrings) throws Exception { ArrayList myArrayList = new ArrayList(); Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.println ("NUMBERS:"); while (int input > 0) { myArrayList.add(input); } while (int input < 0) { System.out.println ("ENTER NUMBERS GREATER THAN 0!"); } } } This code doesn't work, I'm not sure why but any help with it would be appreciated.

  • Is it good to create a usercontrol for Recursive code in xaml?

    - by user281947
<Border BorderBrush="#C4C8CC" BorderThickness="0,0,0,1"> <TextBlock x:Name="SectionTitle" FontFamily="Trebuchet MS" FontSize="14" FontWeight="Bold" Foreground="#3D3D3D" /> </Border> I have to use the same above format at many places in a single xaml page, so for this i created a usercontrol and defined the above code inside it. So my question is, What i am doing is it right approach? Will it make the page to load slower then the above code used as it is without defining it in a new user control?

  • Capturing clicks even when stopPropagation has been called (ie by 3rd party code)?

    - by josh
I want to detect any click that happens on a page (to close a custom context menu). I'm using jQuery and trying to do $(document).click(function(){ ...close my context menu ... }); However, I'm using some code that calls evt.stopPropagation() in the click handlers for certain elements on the page, and those clicks aren't making it up to my top-level handler. Is there any way of capturing those clicks? Can be jQuery or not jQuery, as long as it works cross-browser.

  • Best Practice for loading non-existent data

    - by Aizotu
I'm trying to build a table in MS SQL 2008, loaded with roughly 50,000 rows of data. Right now I'm doing something like: Create Table MyCustomData ( ColumnKey Int Null, Column1 NVarChar(100) Null, Column2 NVarChar(100) Null Primary Key Clustered ( ColumnKey ASC ) WITH ( PAD_INDEX = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS = ON ) ) CREATE INDEX IDX_COLUMN1 ON MyCustomData([COLUMN1]) CREATE INDEX IDX_COLUMN2 ON MyCustomData([COLUMN2]) DECLARE @MyCount Int SET @MyCount = 0 WHILE @MyCount < 50000 BEGIN INSERT INTO MyCustomData (ColumnKey, Column1, Column2) Select @MyCount + 1, 'Custom Data 1', 'Custom Data 2' Set @MyCount = @MyCount + 1 END My problem is that this is crazy slow. I thought at one point I could create a Select Statement to build my custom data and use that as the datasource for my Insert Into statement. i.e. something like INSERT INTO MyCustomData (ColumnKey, Column1, Column2) From (Select Top 50000 Row_Count(), 'Custom Data 1', 'Custom Data 2') I know this doesn't work, but its the only thing I can show that seems to provide an example of what I'm after. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

  • What is the compatible JQuery line of code for IE7 and IE8?

    - by user144842
This line of code is working fine for Firefox $("#<%=txt1.ClientID%>").text() but not for IE8 and IE7. See the scenario below in order to understand what I really mean:- Scenario:- Loading .aspx page. populating text box with some data from database. Now user changes data in same text-box at client-side (means page not yet submitted) So here in firefox, the above line of javascript is showing me the actual data came from database, but IE7&8 showing me the changed data. But I want actual data. So i need some compatible code for IE7 & IE8 I hope i explained it well what i need. Thanks in advance

  • Do you leave historical code commented out in classes that you update?

    - by 18Rabbit
When you need to obsolete a section of code (say either the business rules changed, or the old system has been reworked to use a new framework or something) do you delete it from the file or do you comment it out and then put in the new functionality? If you comment it out, do you leave a note stating why it was removed and what it was originally intended to do? I ask mainly because I've done a lot of contract work for different places over the years and sometimes it's like excavating a tomb to find the actual code that is still being used. Why comment it out and leave it in the file if source control has a record of what used to be there? If you comment out a method do you also comment out/delete any methods that were exclusively used by that method? What do you think the best practices for this should be?

  • What code commenting style should I use for both C++ and C# ?

    - by ereOn
Hi, I was recently hired in a company. They have a lot of C++ and C# code source files and almost one different commenting style per file. (Well this is exagerated, but you have the picture) This morning, I show my new collegues how my personnal code was commented and how easy it was to generate a documentation from it (I use Doxygen). I somehow convinced them to use a coherent commenting style. I would suggest using Doxygen for C++ source files and native C# style commenting style for C# files. However, I'm not sure that's the best solution here. Are you aware of a commenting style that would work for both C++ and C# allowing us to generate a documentation from it ? If so, what software/tool should we use ? Having a solution that would work on Linux platforms as well would be even better. Thank you very much.

  • Pure Server-Side Filtering with RadGridView and WCF RIA Services

Those of you who are familiar with WCF RIA Services know that the DomainDataSource control provides a FilterDescriptors collection that enables you to filter data returned by the query on the server. We have been using this DomainDataSource feature in our RIA Services with DomainDataSource online example for almost an year now. In the example, we are listening for RadGridViews Filtering event in order to intercept any filtering that is performed on the client and translate it to something that the DomainDataSource will understand, in this case a System.Windows.Data.FilterDescriptor being added or removed from its FilterDescriptors collection. Think of RadGridView.FilterDescriptors as client-side filtering and of DomainDataSource.FilterDescriptors as server-side filtering. We no longer need the client-side one. With the introduction of the Custom Filtering Controls feature many new possibilities have opened. With these custom controls we no longer need to do any filtering on the client. I have prepared a very small project that demonstrates how to filter solely on the server by using a custom filtering control. As I have already mentioned filtering on the server is done through the FilterDescriptors collection of the DomainDataSource control. This collection holds instances of type System.Windows.Data.FilterDescriptor. The FilterDescriptor has three important properties: PropertyPath: Specifies the name of the property that we want to filter on (the left operand). Operator: Specifies the type of comparison to use when filtering. An instance of FilterOperator Enumeration. Value: The value to compare with (the right operand). An instance of the Parameter Class. By adding filters, you can specify that only entities which meet the condition in the filter are loaded from the domain context. In case you are not familiar with these concepts you might find Brad Abrams blog interesting. Now, our requirements are to create some kind of UI that will manipulate the DomainDataSource.FilterDescriptors collection. When it comes to collections, my first choice of course would be RadGridView. If you are not familiar with the Custom Filtering Controls concept I would strongly recommend getting acquainted with my step-by-step tutorial Custom Filtering with RadGridView for Silverlight and checking the online example out. I have created a simple custom filtering control that contains a RadGridView and several buttons. This control is aware of the DomainDataSource instance, since it is operating on its FilterDescriptors collection. In fact, the RadGridView that is inside it is bound to this collection. In order to display filters that are relevant for the current column only, I have applied a filter to the grid. This filter is a Telerik.Windows.Data.FilterDescriptor and is used to filter the little grid inside the custom control. It should not be confused with the DomainDataSource.FilterDescriptors collection that RadGridView is actually bound to. These are the RIA filters. Additionally, I have added several other features. For example, if you have specified a DataFormatString on your original column, the Value column inside the custom control will pick it up and format the filter values accordingly. Also, I have transferred the data type of the column that you are filtering to the Value column of the custom control. This will help the little RadGridView determine what kind of editor to show up when you begin edit, for example a date picker for DateTime columns. Finally, I have added four buttons two of them can be used to add or remove filters and the other two will communicate the changes you have made to the server. Here is the full source code of the DomainDataSourceFilteringControl. The XAML: <UserControl x:Class="PureServerSideFiltering.DomainDataSourceFilteringControl"    xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"    xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"     xmlns:telerikGrid="clr-namespace:Telerik.Windows.Controls;assembly=Telerik.Windows.Controls.GridView"     xmlns:telerik="clr-namespace:Telerik.Windows.Controls;assembly=Telerik.Windows.Controls"     Width="300">     <Border x:Name="LayoutRoot"             BorderThickness="1"             BorderBrush="#FF8A929E"             Padding="5"             Background="#FFDFE2E5">           <Grid>             <Grid.RowDefinitions>                 <RowDefinition Height="Auto"/>                 <RowDefinition Height="150"/>                 <RowDefinition Height="Auto"/>             </Grid.RowDefinitions>               <StackPanel Grid.Row="0"                         Margin="2"                         Orientation="Horizontal"                         HorizontalAlignment="Center">                 <telerik:RadButton Name="addFilterButton"                                   Click="OnAddFilterButtonClick"                                   Content="Add Filter"                                   Margin="2"                                   Width="96"/>                 <telerik:RadButton Name="removeFilterButton"                                   Click="OnRemoveFilterButtonClick"                                   Content="Remove Filter"                                   Margin="2"                                   Width="96"/>             </StackPanel>               <telerikGrid:RadGridView Name="filtersGrid"                                     Grid.Row="1"                                     Margin="2"                                     ItemsSource="{Binding FilterDescriptors}"                                     AddingNewDataItem="OnFilterGridAddingNewDataItem"                                     ColumnWidth="*"                                     ShowGroupPanel="False"                                     AutoGenerateColumns="False"                                     CanUserResizeColumns="False"                                     CanUserReorderColumns="False"                                     CanUserFreezeColumns="False"                                     RowIndicatorVisibility="Collapsed"                                     IsFilteringAllowed="False"                                     CanUserSortColumns="False">                 <telerikGrid:RadGridView.Columns>                     <telerikGrid:GridViewComboBoxColumn DataMemberBinding="{Binding Operator}"                                                         UniqueName="Operator"/>                     <telerikGrid:GridViewDataColumn Header="Value"                                                     DataMemberBinding="{Binding Value.Value}"                                                     UniqueName="Value"/>                 </telerikGrid:RadGridView.Columns>             </telerikGrid:RadGridView>               <StackPanel Grid.Row="2"                         Margin="2"                         Orientation="Horizontal"                         HorizontalAlignment="Center">                 <telerik:RadButton Name="filterButton"                                   Click="OnApplyFiltersButtonClick"                                   Content="Apply Filters"                                   Margin="2"                                   Width="96"/>                 <telerik:RadButton Name="clearButton"                                   Click="OnClearFiltersButtonClick"                                   Content="Clear Filters"                                   Margin="2"                                   Width="96"/>             </StackPanel>           </Grid>       </Border> </UserControl>   And the code-behind: using System; Go ahead and try it.             this.employeesDataSource.FilterDescriptors.Add(new System.Windows.Data.FilterDescriptor("Title", System.Windows.Data.FilterOperator.Contains, "Assistant"));             this.employeesDataSource.FilterDescriptors.Add(new System.Windows.Data.FilterDescriptor("HireDate", System.Windows.Data.FilterOperator.IsGreaterThan, new DateTime(1998, 12, 31)));             this.employeesDataSource.FilterDescriptors.Add(new System.Windows.Data.FilterDescriptor("HireDate", System.Windows.Data.FilterOperator.IsLessThanOrEqualTo, new DateTime(1999, 12, 31)));               this.employeesDataSource.Load();         }           /// <summary>         /// First of all, we will need to replace the default filtering control         /// of each column with out custom filtering control DomainDataSourceFilteringControl         /// </summary>         private void OnGridAutoGeneratingColumn(object sender, GridViewAutoGeneratingColumnEventArgs e)         {             GridViewBoundColumnBase dataColumn = e.Column as GridViewBoundColumnBase;             if (dataColumn != null)             {                 // We do not like ugly dates.                 if (dataColumn.DataType == typeof(DateTime))                 {                     dataColumn.DataFormatString = "{0:d}"; // Short date pattern.                       // Notice how this format will be later transferred to the Value column                     // of the grid that we have inside the DomainDataSourceFilteringControl.                 }                   // Replace the default filtering control with our.                 dataColumn.FilteringControl = new DomainDataSourceFilteringControl()                 {                     // Let the control know about the DDS, after all it will work directly on it.                     DomainDataSource = this.employeesDataSource                 };                   // Finally, lit-up the filtering funnel through the IsActive dependency property                 // in case there are some filters on the DDS that match our column member.                 string dataMemberName = dataColumn.GetDataMemberName();                 dataColumn.FilteringControl.IsActive =                     this.employeesDataSource.FilterDescriptors                     .Where(fd => fd.PropertyPath == dataMemberName)                     .Count() > 0;             }         }     } } The best part is that we are not only writing filters for the DomainDataSource we can read and load them. If the DomainDataSource has some pre-existing filters (like I have created in the code above), our control will read them and will populate its UI accordingly. Even the filtering funnel will light-up! Remember, the funnel is controlled by the IsActive property of our control. While this is just a basic implementation, the source code is absolutely yours and you can take it from here and extend it to match your specific business requirements. Below the main grid there is another debug grid. With its help you can monitor what filter descriptors are added and removed to the domain data source. Download Source Code. (You will have to have the AdventureWorks sample database installed on the default SQLExpress instance in order to run it.) • Code &amp; Slides &ndash; SDE &ndash; What&rsquo;s new in Silverlight 4

    - by Timmy Kokke
Last Tuesday the Software Developers Network – SDN organized another SDE. I’ve had the opportunity to present a session about Silverlight 4. I talked about lots of new features in Silverlight 4 and Expression Blend 4, focused on the Out-Of-Browser features.     The slides of my presentation can be downloaded here.   In my presentation I demonstrated a couple of features from my new pet project “SilverAmp”. This project is based on the legendary WinAmp, but made entirely in Silverlight. I use it to try out many new Silverlight 4 features. It’s not finished yet, but useful already. It runs outside the browser with elevated trust. It reads your local MyMusic folder and uses the TagLib library to read the ID3 tags of the mp3s it finds. SilverAmp is using MEF for extensibility. It uses a custom Window Chrome, designed in Expression Design. And it shows a notification window when a new song starts to play.   In the future it is going to get song information from Last.FM, will be able to show YouTube videos inside itself and it will tweet about what you are playing. The project will be fully documented to function as a reference implementation for the new Silverlight 4 features.   You can download the source on  http://SilverAmp.codeplex.com   Below are two screenshot of SilverAmp.                     If you have any questions, comments,  issues or feature requests let me know.

  • Where ORMs blur the lines between code and data, how do you decide what logic should be a stored procedure, and what should be coded?

    - by PhonicUK
Take the following pseudocode: CreateInvoiceAndCalculate(ItemsAndQuantities, DispatchAddress, User); And say CreateInvoice does the following: Create a new entry in an Invoices table belonging to the specified User to be sent to the given DispatchAddress. Create a new entry in an InvoiceItems table for each of the items in ItemsAndQuantities, storing the Item, the Quantity, and the cost of the item as of now (by looking it up from an Items table) Calculate the total amount of the invoice (ex shipping and taxes) and store it in the new Invoice row. At a glace you wouldn't be able to tell if this was a method in my applications code, or a stored procedure in the database that is being exposed as a function by the ORM. And to some extent it doesn't really matter. Now technically none of this is business logic. You're not making any decisions - just performing a calculation and creating records. However some may argue that because you are performing a calculation that affects the business (the total amount to be invoiced) that this isn't something that should be done in a stored procedure and instead should be in code. So for this specific example - why would it be more appropriate to do one or the other? And where do you draw the line? Or does it even particular matter as long as it's sufficiently well documented?

  • Should we develop a custom membership provider in this case?

    - by Allen
I'll be adding a bounty to this, probably 200, more if you guys think its appropriate. I wont accept an answer until I can add a bounty so feel free to go ahead and answer now Summary Long story short, we've been tasked with gutting the authentication and authorization parts of a fairly old and bloated asp.net application that previously had all of these components written from scratch. Since our application isn't a typical one, and none of us have experience in asp.net's built in membership provider stuff, we're not sure if we should roll our own authentication and authorization again or if we should try to work within the asp.net membership provider mindset and develop our own membership provider. Our Application We have a fairly old asp.net application that gets installed at customer locations to service clients on a LAN. Admins create users (users do not sign up) and depending on the install, we may have the software integrated with LDAP. Currently, the LDAP integration bulk-imports the users to our database and when they login, it authenticates against LDAP so we dont have to manage their passwords. Nothing amazing there. Admins can assign users to 1 group and they can change the authorization of that group to manage access to various parts of the software. Groups are maintained by Admins (web based UI) and as said earlier, granted / denied permissions to certain functionality within the application. All this was completely written from the ground up without using any of the built in .net authorization or authentication. We literally have IsLoggedIn() methods that check for login and redirect to our login page if they aren't. Our Rewrite We've been tasked to integrate more tightly with LDAP, they want us to tie groups in our application to groups (or whatever types of containers that LDAP uses) in LDAP so that when a customer opt's to use our LDAP integration, they dont have to manage their users in LDAP AND in our application. The new way, they will simply create users in LDAP, add them to Groups in LDAP and our application will see that they belong to the appropriate LDAP group and authenticate and authorize them. In addition, we've been granted the go ahead to completely rip out the User authentication and authorization code and completely re-do it. Our Problem The problem is that none of us have any experience with asp.net membership provider functionality. The little bit of exposure I have to it makes me worry that it was not intended to be used for an application such as ours. Though, developing our own ASP.NET Membership Provider and Role Manager sounds like it would be a great experience and most likely the appropriate thing to do. Basically, I'm looking for advice, should we be using the ASP.NET Membership provider & Role Management API or should we continue to roll our own? I know this decision will be influenced by our requirements so I'm going over them below Our Requirements Just a quick n dirty list Maintain the ability to have a db of users and authenticate them and give admins (only, not users) the ability to CRUD users Allow the site to integrate with LDAP, when this is chosen, they don't want any users stored in the DB, only the relationship between Groups as they exist in our app / db and the Groups/Containers as they exist in LDAP. .net 3.5 is being used (mix of asp.net webforms and asp.net mvc) Has to work in ASP.NET and ASP.NET MVC (shouldn't be a problem I'm guessing) This can't be user centric, administrators need to be the only ones that CRUD (or import via ldap) users and groups We have to be able to Auth via LDAP when its configured to do so I always try to monitor my questions closely so feel free to ask for more info. Also, as a general summary of what I'm looking for in an answer is just. "You should/shouldn't use xyz, here's why". Links regarding asp.net membership provider and role management stuff are very welcome, most of the stuff I'm finding is 5+ years old. Edit: Added some stuff to "Our Rewrite"

  • How do I make a custom delegate protocol for a UIView subclass?

    - by timothy5216
    I'm making some tabs and I want to have my own delegate for them but when I try to send an action to the delegate nothing happens. I also tried following this tutorial: link text But it doesn't work for me :( Here is my code: TiMTabBar.h @protocol TiMTabBarDelegate; @interface TiMTabBar : UIView { id<TiMTabBarDelegate> __delegate; ... int selectedItem; ... } //- (id)init; - (id)initWithDelegate:(id)aDelegate; - (void)setSelectedIndex:(int)item; .. @property (nonatomic) int selectedItem; @property(assign) id <TiMTabBarDelegate> __delegate; .. ... @end @protocol TiMTabBarDelegate<NSObject> //@optional - (void)tabBar:(TiMTabBar *)_tabBar didSelectIndex:(int)index; @end TiMTabBar.m: #import "TiMTabBar.h" ... @interface NSObject (TiMTabBarDelegate) - (void)tabBar:(TiMTabBar *)_tabBar didSelectIndex:(int)index; @end @implementation TiMTabBar @synthesize selectedItem; @synthesize __delegate; ... /* - (id)init { ... return self; } */ - (id)initWithDelegate:(id)aDelegate; { //[super init]; __delegate = aDelegate; return self; } - (void)awakeFromNib { //[self init]; //[self initWithDelegate:self]; ... } - (void)setSelectedIndex:(int)item { selectedItem = item; if (self.__delegate != NULL && [self.__delegate respondsToSelector:@selector(tabBar:didSelectIndex:)]) { [__delegate tabBar:self didSelectIndex:selectedItem]; } ... if (item == 0) { ... } else if (item == 1) { ... } else if (item == 2) { ... } else if (item == 3) { ... } else if (item == 4) { ... } else { ... } } /* - (void)tabBar:(TiMTabBar *)_tabBar didSelectIndex:(int)index; { //[delegate tabBar:self didSelectIndex:index]; //if (self.delegate != NULL && [self.delegate respondsToSelector:@selector(tabBar:didSelectIndex:)]) { //[delegate tabBar:self didSelectIndex:selectedItem]; //} NSLog(@"tabBarDelegate: %d",index); } */ @end The delegate only works works inside itself and not in any other files like: @interface XXXController : UIViewController <TiMTabBarDelegate> { ... ... IBOutlet TiMTabBar *tabBar; ... } ... @end XXXController.m: #import "XXXController.h" #import <QuartzCore/QuartzCore.h> @implementation XXXController - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; [self becomeFirstResponder]; ... tabBar = [[TiMTabBar alloc] initWithDelegate:self]; //tabBar.__delegate = self; ... } #pragma mark TiMTabBar Stuff - (void)tabBar:(TiMTabBar *)_tabBar didSelectIndex:(int)index; { NSLog(@"Controller/tabBarDelegate: %d",index); } @end None of this seems to work in XXXController. Anyone know how to make this work?
