  • PHP OOP Design Patterns: Should I Create two seperate classes for registration and form validation?

    So here's my problem: I have two types of registration, registration A and registration B, each will have some of the same fields and some different fields. I was going to create abstract class registration and both A and B would have their own classes that extend from registration. My question is, should I create a seperate Validation class with seperate A and B validation classes that extend? or is there a better pattern to use for something like this? Thanks

    I know it's really a subjective question, but for best-practices (and readability), I can't seem to get a fix on the best way to format long strings of HTML. I typically do it like this: echo ' <div> <p>Content Inside</p> <div class="subbox"> <ul> <li>etc.</li> <li>etc.</li> <li>etc.</li> <li>etc.</li> </ul> </div> </div> '; But I still don't like the outcome, especially if this appears in the middle of a large block of code. It just feels messy.

  • Whats the best method for queuing time-sensitive messages with PHP/MySQL?

    I'm building an SMS call and response system in a new app that receives a message via an aggregator gateway, checks it for functional keywords (run, stop, ask, etc), then processes it appropriately (save to the database, return an answer, or execute a task based on the users authorization). It's running fine at the moment as there are only a few users, but I figure its going to have more issues as we scale it up. We're currently running it on a single DV machine (mediatemple base dv). My question is this: does it make more sense to set something up like Memcached to run a queue, or a simple database with a daemon running to process each message one by one? I don't have much experience with either, so any advice would be helpful. Since the messaging is somewhat time-sensitive, what would be the fastest and most reliable way to handle this? Also, since we're sending responses, I'll probably need to set up and outbound message queue as well. Would it make sense to use the same concept for both?

    public function getHelperInstance() { $user = new Helper(); $user->set($result['data']); return $user; } I am calling getHelper() class multiple times and if $user is not empty than am calling getHelperInstance(), now in my case getHelperInstance() always creates a new instance of Helper() class and so every time I call getHelperInstance() function am creating a new instance of Helper() so is there any way where can I can just create one instance of Helper() and use it multiple times instead of creating a new instance everytime.   • Is it better to echo javascript in raw format with php, or echo a script include that has been minif

    Hey guys quick question, I am currently echoing a lot of javascript that is based conditionally on login status and other variables. I was wondering if it would be better to simply echo the script include like <script type="text/javascript" src="javascript/openlogin.js"></script> that has been run through a minifying program and been gzipped or to echo the full script in raw format. The latter suggestion is messier to me but it reduces http requests while the latter would probably be smaller but take more cpu? Just wondering what some other people think. Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Whenever we use chmod, we set different authorities to different users types like owner, group, others, all What I dont know is, how do define who is owner, who is group and who are others. Can we use this while implementing login system? What I mean is, by verifying a username, I want to define if the logged in user is owner, a group or others so that I can deny access to file or folder.     I asked this question yesterday, and at the time it was just what I needed, but while working with some live data I discovered that is wasn't quite doing what I expected. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2571232/parse-html-with-phps-html-domdocument I gets the data from the HTML page, but then it also strips out all the HTML tags inside the captured block of text, which isn't what I want. (I might wan't to take some of the tags out, but not all, and this can be done later)

But what I want is the MySQL row array from the mysql_fetch_row() call... What am I missing?

    So client gives me a string like "1,23,23,abc,ggg,544,tf4," from user 12 . There can be infinit number of elements with no spaces just value,value,... structure. I have users table (with users uId(key), names etc). I have streams table with ( sId(key), externalID, etc values). User sends me externalId's. And I need to hawe externalId's in play list (not my sId's). I need some way to store such array into my DB and be able to get it from DB. I need to be able to do 2 things return such string back to user be able to get na array from it like {1; 23; 23; abc; ggg; 544; tf4;} So what is best method (best here means shourt(small amount of) code) to store such data into db to retrivew stored tata in bouth ways shown
