What is the relationship between OpenGL, GLX, DRI, and Mesa3D?

I am starting out doing some low-level 3D programming in Linux. I have a lot of experience using the higher level graphics API OpenInventor. I know it is not strictly necessary to be aware of how all these things fit together but I'm just curious. I know OpenGL is just a standard for graphics applications. Mesa3D seems to be an open source implementation of this standard. So where do GLX and DRI fit? Digging around on Wikipedia and all these websites, I've yet to find an explanation of exactly how it all goes together. Where does hardware acceleration happen? What do proprietary drivers have to do with this? Thanks!

JavaFX 2.2.4 and JDK 7u10 were released on Tuesday. In addition to the release documentation, the following new information is provided: A new document, Using the Image Ops API, describes how to read and write raw pixel data to and from JavaFX images. The Handling JavaFX Events document has been updated with more information on touch events. The Working with Touch Events chapter and Touch Events sample provide information about handling individual touch points to provide sophisticated responses to touch actions. The Implementing Best Practices document has been updated to include information about running tasks on background threads. The Troubleshooting section of Deploying JavaFX Applications now includes a section about disabling the automatic proxy configuration in your application code. Legally, can I re reuse code for different customers?

The company I work for develops custom factory automation applications for multiple customers. Even though each application is custom, they contain common code which is re-used across projects. One of the customers is now looking for the source code to their application, which has caused a major storm in the company. Management have decided that we can't give them the source to the shared components as they are used by other customers. I've been asked to modify the shared components 'enough' so as they aren't common. So my questions are: 1) Legally, should there be any problem with re-using common components for different customer? 2) If I really need to modify the common components, then how much is 'enough' ? (I know this sucks, but I either do this or hand in my notice). Oh yeah, and my company has no license in place with any of these customers.

This is a minor release that addresses some items found immediately after release that have now completed our test passes with those who reported them. Most of the items found wont affect all users, but media developers will want to get this update for their applications and encourage their users to upgrade. Ubuntu is kde styled after install AND removal

I installed kubuntu-desktop and every thing was fine. Then later when I actually logged in to Kde, I decided that I still like Unity better so I ran sudo apt-get purge kubuntu-desktop && sudo apt-get autoremove. After that bits and pieces of my Ubuntu/Unity have been Kde styled. All browsers have Kde icons and some applications show 'About Kde' in their menus, all text fields have that 'bluesh glow' around them, etc. What is still left of Kubuntu? Note: I saw this question and this question, but both where outdated and didn't work.

Possible Duplicate: How do you dive into large code bases? I have worked as a developer developing C/C++ applications for mobile platforms (Windows Mobile and Symbian) for about six years. About a year ago, however, I changed job and currently work with large(!) enterprise systems with high security and availability requirements, all developed in Java. My problem is that I am having a hard time getting a grip on the architecture of the systems, even after a year working with them, and understanding systems other people have built has never been my strong side. The fact that I haven't worked with enterprise systems before doesn't exactly help. Does anyone have a good approach on how to learn and understand large systems? Are there any particular techniques and/or patterns I should read up on?

I am currently working as an SDET(Software devlopment Engineer in Test). I have been doing some programming in C# as my job needs. I want to expand my knowledge and experience by creating some simple tools and applications of my own. Consider this like academic projects that are created by students at the end of their course . The idea is to have a practical knowledge on the subjects that I have a theoritical knowledge about. For Eg - I have read about multithreading and have worked on the examples but I do not have a grip over the concepts. In order to get a good grip over the concepts I want to work over some projects involving multithreading, starting with a simple one. Similarly other concepts like REST/SOAP web services using WCF. Recommendations for taskbar

I recently updated to Ubuntu 13.10 and now tint2 stopped working. Better yet: it works, I just can not see it as the all bar is now transparent. Since Tint2 is no longer maintained I doubt it will be updated hence I'm now looking into alternative is there are any. In short: looking for a simple taskbar that sits at the bottom of the screen and that lists applications per window (no groupping!). Don't need fancy animations or widgets/features. Any ideas?
