  I'd like to fetch and install old FF16 instead of FF17 on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS server. Currently FF17 is default. FF17 is incompatible with Selenium 2.26 http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13600247/unable-to-run-selenium-suite-on-firefox-17 How one can install an old version of Firefox with apt-get? Can one pindown this version so that it is not automatically updated? • Bumblebee - Poor performance with games

  I have an Alienware M14x (GeForce 650m with Optimus) and got Bumblebee working correctly (trying to get ready for steam for linux :)). Also I'm running Ubuntu 12.10 with Unity. I get great framerates with glxgears and sauerbraten (a game on the repositories), but when I run games like Bastion and Splice, I get pretty terrible framerate, in fact worse than my integrated intel gpu. I have nvidia-current installed under ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates so it's driver version 310.xx. Also I forgot to add that I haven't been able to test other drivers because they seem to break glx (x can't load the glx module). I've been troubleshooting this for days now, and I'm very nearly out of ideas. Any hints on why only some games are running so poorly with bumblebee?

  Is it possible to have in eclipse 2 "team providers" for same project. E.g. svn and mercurial? So svn will be used to commit to central repository, and mercurial only to work on my PC. E.g. when I get updates from SVN, I commit to mercurial, then I work with mercurial. When everything is ready to go to central place, i commit in SVN. There is no need to integrate change history. Yes, ideally it will be just mercurial, and most probably it will happened later. But for now I want to try some dirty and fast solution if it exist :)

• Just updated, after reboot my computer won't start up again

  I have a macbook that I use on occasion which dual boots Ubuntu and OSX (It has rEFIt installed). I turned it on for the first time in a while and it needed a bunch of updates. So I let it run, and restarted it when it asked. When it was booting up, it got stuck at a light blue screen. There was nothing on the screen to indicate that it was doing anything - I figured it just got stuck or something, so I turned it off and back on. (I suspect now it was actually working, but I had no indication that it hadn't just frozen) Now I can't access either OSX or my Ubuntu partition. When I choose ubuntu on the rEFIt menu, it shows "No bootable device -- insert book disk and press key". If I try to start up OSX is looks like it starts loading, but instead of an apple logo there's a crossed out circle icon.

• Keyboard "type ahead" in CRUD web apps?

  In some data entry contexts, I've seen data typists, type really fast and know so well the app they use, and have a mechanic quality in their work so that they can "type ahead", ie continue typing and "tab-bing" and "enter-ing" faster than the display updates, so that in many occasions they are typing in the data for the next form before it draws itself. Then when this next entry form appears, their keystrokes fill the text boxes and they continue typing, selecting etc. In contexts like this, this speed is desirable, since this persons are really productive. I think this "type ahead of time" is only possible in desktop apps, but I may be wrong. My question is whether this way of handling the keyboard buffer (which in desktop apps require no extra programming) is achievable in web apps, or is this impossible because of the way web apps work, handle sessions, etc (network latency and the overhead of generating new web pages ) ?

I thought I would start out today by talking about one of the most popular services, Twitter. • Tell Visual Studio 2012 UI Designers What to Fix

  If you hate the default interface themes in Visual Studio 2012 as much as I do, you have another outlet to vent. The UI designers have posted a survey where you can tell them how distracting and annoying you find the gray themes and black icons. You even get to comment on the (fixable) all-caps issue. The UI people didn’t listen much to the (largely hostile) developer feedback during the product design – or more likely were constrained by some edict from on high - but seem more willing now to create decent themes for updates. • Camera changes view when controller connected

  I have a weird situation. I have a model set to 0 for X,Y and Z. My camera's position is set to: 0 (X-value, but updates when the model moves around) the model's height + 20f (about the same level as the model's shoulders) 25f (behind the model) Without the controller plugged in, everything looks fine as I want it. But as soon as I plug the controller in, the camera aims to the sky! But when I unplug the controller, the camera is back to what it should be. Does anyone have any insight as to what may cause this from plugging a controller in?

• VMWare Fusion Folder Sharing Not Working with Server

  I have a Ubuntu Server running in VMWare Fusion 3.1.2 on my MacBook Pro for Java development and all my projects sit on my Mac in ~/Workspace/ColdFusion. I had ColdFusion/ shared with my VM through the VMWare tools, and it was working perfectly up until friday when the folder sharing just stopped. No updates on either mac or linux besides an iTunes update. I tried uninstalling the VMWare tools and reinstalling them but I get an error at the end of the install. It appears that when I reinstall the tools there are files left over from the old installation. Is there a way to force the unsinstall script to completely uninstall and remove all files for the VMWare-Tools? I know the shared folder used to mount at /mnt/hgfs/ColdFusion.
