Well,Hello Everyone.I'am just 14 years old.I want to be a part of Android's Development. But were do I start. What should I learn? What are necessary Qualification to be a Part of Android's Development. Things what I know Basic PHP, HTML, PhotoShop, Video Editing, Basic Security and Fraud related matters, Some Microsoft Office Tools, Maya(Modelling only), Web Development, Dreamweaver, Blogging and Pawno (For Game Scripts..C Based Language) I hope that's all. I do things (for programming)without knowing about the basics it has. I feel difficult to understand the guides in android.com . I want a Step by Step guide. Thank you, Lavan

  • Which .NET data provider?

    - by worlds-apart89
I am new to database programming, so I'd like help getting on the right track. I have read that there are Microsoft-defined and third-party data providers for data access. MSDN has information on data providers for SQL Server, OLE DB, ODBC, Oracle, as well as the EntityClient provider (Entity Framework). Which data provider is today's hottest, most-widely used model? Which one is the future? Also, I have seen Linq to SQL tutorials, but what category does L2S fall into?

  • Major inconsistencies in Zend Framework

    - by John Nall
Okay first of all let me just say Zend Framework is the greatest tool I have ever used in 30+ years of programming (well, for web development, Qt wins the desktop market). However, through my use I have noticed some glaring and annoying inconsistencies. For instance, Zend_Form_Element's have a setAttrib() method. Now why the hell is this the only method in that API which is abbrev.? Why then am I using setRequired() instead of setReq()? I have more examples, I am extremely nerd raged about this. It is completely ruining what could have been God's gift to web development. FOR FUTURE REFERENCE NEVER ABBREV. THINGS WHEN MAKING AN API. also always filter data before storing it i m o Who do we talk to about this, where something will actually get done about it?

  • Expected symbol problems with this function declaration

    - by Derek
I am just getting back into the C programming realm and I am having an issue that I think is linker related. I am using cmake for the first time as well, so that could be adding to my frustration. I have included a third party header file that contains a typedef that my code is trying to use, and it has this line: typedef struct a a_t so my code has a_t *var; //later..... var->member;// this line throws the error which throws the error: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type So am I just missing another include file, or is this a linker issue? I am building this code in QtCreator and using cmake. I can dive on a_t to see that typedef declaration in the included header, but I can't seem to dive on "struct a" itself to see where it's coming from. Thanks

  • Why do so many mathematicians format code so poorly? [closed]

    - by marcog
I have done a fair amount of programming together with mathematicians. Now I am even teaching some high school kids coming from a mathematics background how to program. Most of these people format their code so hideously it's hard to believe. I've even worked with and taught mathematicians who will fight the auto-indenter! Why is this so common amongst mathematicians? BTW, this is one reason I have started teaching Python. Yet still they find ways other than indentation to produce whacked coding styles!

  • Grid computing projects similar to NGrid (thread based)

    - by DivdeAndConquer
Hello there, first time poster. This is a great place for reading about programming problems. I've been looking at some grid computing projects for .Net/Mono and stumbled upon NGrid. NGrid seems really appealing for grid computing because you simply pass threads to it and there is very little modification you have to make to your code. However, I see that NGrid (http://ngrid.sourceforge.net/?page=overview) is still at version 0.7 and hasn't been updated since May 2008. So, I'm wondering if there are any other grid computing projects that use a similar thread-passing architecture and if anyone has had success using NGrid.

  • What kind of work benifits from OpenCL

    - by Daniel
Hey All First of all: I am well aware that OpenCL does not magically make everything faster I am well aware that OpenCL has limitations So now to my question, i am used to do different scientific calculations using programming. Some of the things i work with is pretty intense in regards to the complexity and number of calculations. SO i was wondering, maybe i could speed things up bu using OpenCL. So, what i would love to hear from you all is answers to some of the following [bonus for links]: *What kind of calculations/algorithms/general problems is suitable for OpenCL *What is the general guidelines for determining if some particular code would benefit by migration to OpenCL? Regards

  • Querying associated images in one table after querying products from another

    - by Andy
I used this code to connect to a database and fetch results. This worked perfectly until i tried to work in another query to the images table to get associated images. I'm not very experienced with OO programming. So hopefully someone can see where ive gone wrong and help me out. <?php global $__CMS_CONN__; $sql = "SELECT * FROM ecom_products"; $stmt = $__CMS_CONN__->prepare($sql); $stmt->execute(array($id)); while ($row = $stmt->fetchObject()) { $imagesql = "SELECT * FROM ecom_product_images where id = $row->id && where primaryImage = '1'"; $imagestmt = $__CMS_CONN__->prepare($sql); $imagestmt->execute(array($id)); $imageName = $imagestmt->fetchObject(); echo '<a href="'.URL_PUBLIC.$row->id.'">'.$row->productNm.'</a>'.$imageName; } ?>

  • Which is the future of web development: HTML5 or Silverlight(or other RIA framework)?

    - by Morgan Cheng
My colleagues have a heated debate on what is the future of web development. One side is supporting HTML5 and the other is supporting Silverlight. There is no conclusion of the debate yet. In my humble opinion as a programmer, HTML5 will not improve programming productivity, while Silverlight will. In my understanding, programmers still need to program in JavaScript to take advantage of HTML5. For Silverlight, we can use C# which is static-type language. A lot of coding defects can be found in compilation time. For HTML5, different browsers might still have different behavior even though there is spec. For Silverlight, generally what works in IE will work the same way in other browsers. Just my thoughts. Any idea on how to choose future direction of web development?

  • Java Interfaces Methodology: Should every class implement an interface?

    - by Amir Rachum
I've been programming in Java for a few courses in the University and I have the following question: Is it methodologically accepted that every class should implement an interface? Is it considered bad practice not to do so? Can you describe a situation where it's not a good idea to use interfaces? Edit: Personally, I like the notion of using Interfaces for everything as a methodology and habit, even if it's not clearly beneficial. Eclipse automatically created a class file with all the methods, so it doesn't waste any time anyway.

  • How can I declare a pointer structure using {}?

    - by Y_Y
    This probably is one of the easiest question ever in C programming language... I have the following code: typedef struct node { int data; struct node * after; struct node * before; }node; struct node head = {10,&head,&head}; Is there a way I can make head to be *head [make it a pointer] and still have the availability to use '{ }' [{10,&head,&head}] to declare an instance of head and still leave it out in the global scope? For example: //not legal!!! struct node *head = {10,&head,&head};

  • working with files on "start without debugging"

    - by user1472066
I'm programming in C, and I have the following problem: I use fopen and try to read from a csv file, that is currently storred in the folder of the exe file of the program. the program works fine in debug mode and release mode, but when I try to run the program in "start without debugging" on visual studio 2008 express edition, the program stops working and windows is showing a message: "*.exe has stopped working. a program caused the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". I've tried running the program on several computers, and it's the same. another information I can give you is that if I enter the full path of the file (C:....file.csv) - then is works just fine, without any problem. I know I didn't write any code, but I hope someone will have an idea why this can happend. thanks is advance.

  • Is there a server side API for Team Foundaion Server

    - by Ralph Shillington
It would seem there is precious little documentation on programming against a TFS 2010 instance. What bits I have found, have next to nothing in the case of documentation beyond barebones listing of client access classes and their members, most likely autogenerated from the code comments. As I'm interested in building a silverlight client against TFS, I will need access to server side API (ideally the silverlight app will talk to my server (mainly for work items) and my server will in turn talk to the TFS server for the goods. Where is the doumentation (if any) for this kind of TFS integration?

  • Drawing unfilled rectangle shape in c++ openGL

    - by Bahaa
    I want to draw unfilled rectangle shape in openGL using c++ programming language but when I used the glBegin(GL_QUADS) or glBegin(GL_POLYGON), the resulted shape is filled but I want to be unfilled. How I can draw unfilled rectangle. void draweRect(void) { glClear(GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT); glColor3f(0.0,0.0,1.0); glLineWidth(30); glBegin(GL_POLYGON); glVertex2i(50,90); glVertex2i(100,90); glVertex2i(100,150); glVertex2i(50,150); glEnd(); glFlush(); }

  • Good real-world uses of metaclasses (e.g. in Python)

    - by Carles Barrobés
I'm learning about metaclasses in Python. I think it is a very powerful technique, and I'm looking for good uses for them. I'd like some feedback of good useful real-world examples of using metaclasses. I'm not looking for example code on how to write a metaclass (there are plenty examples of useless metaclasses out there), but real examples where you have applied the technique and it was really the appropriate solution. The rule is: no theoretical possibilities, but metaclasses at work in a real application. I'll start with the one example I know: Django models, for declarative programming, where the base class Model uses a metaclass to fill the model objects of useful ORM functionality from the attribute definitions. Looking forward to your contributions.

  • iPhone xcode - Best way to control audio from several view controllers

    - by Are Refsdal
Hi, I am pretty new to iPhone programming. I have a navBar with three views. I need to control audio from all of the views. I only want one audio stream to play at a time. I was thinking that it would be smart to let my AppDelegate have an instance of my audioplaying class and let the three other views use that instance to control the audio. My problem is that I don´t know how my views can use the audioplaying class in my AppDelegate. Is this the best approach and if so, how? Is there a better way?

  • How does lock(syncRoot) make sense on a static method?

    - by Rising Star
The following code is excerpted from the (Windows Identity Foundation SDK) template that MS uses to create a new Security Token Service Web Site. public static CustomSecurityTokenServiceConfiguration Current { get { HttpApplicationState httpAppState = HttpContext.Current.Application; CustomSecurityTokenServiceConfiguration customConfiguration = httpAppState.Get( CustomSecurityTokenServiceConfigurationKey ) as CustomSecurityTokenServiceConfiguration; if ( customConfiguration == null ) { lock ( syncRoot ) { customConfiguration = httpAppState.Get( CustomSecurityTokenServiceConfigurationKey ) as CustomSecurityTokenServiceConfiguration; if ( customConfiguration == null ) { customConfiguration = new CustomSecurityTokenServiceConfiguration(); httpAppState.Add( CustomSecurityTokenServiceConfigurationKey, customConfiguration ); } } } return customConfiguration; } } I'm relatively new to multi-threaded programming. I assume that the reason for the lock statement is to make this code thread-safe in the event that two web requests arrive at the web site at the same time. However, I would have thought that using lock (syncRoot) would not make sense because syncRoot refers to the current instance that this method is operating on... but this is a static method? How does this make sense?

  • (When) Does hardware, especially the CPU(s), deliver wrong results?

    - by sub
What I'm talking about is: Is it possible that under certain circumstances the CPU "buggs" and suddenly responses 1+1=2? In which parts of the computer can that happen (HDD, RAM, Mainboard)? What could be the causes? Bad quality? Overheating? Does that even happen? When yes, how frequently? If everything is okay with the CPU (not a single fault in production, good temperature), can that still happen sometimes? What would be the results of, let's say one to three wrong computations? This is programming related as it would be nice to know if you can even rely on the hardware to return the right results.

  • What workflow should I use for JavaScript editing?

    - by Patrick
Warning: I have very little JavsScript experience. In my past programming experience, I usually have a standalone interpreter/compiler, a text editor and a command line to compile/run my software or my tests (I love test driven development). I really like it this way, since I have the feeling of being in complete control over the tools. However, editing JavaScript I need to put statements in a text file , open my web browser and click on reload. I don't feel comfortable with it, as I cannot really see what is going on (besides some alert boxes). Can you suggest me (I'm on a Mac) another workflow? Perhaps with a debugger? Is there a standalone JavaScript interpreter?

  • Preprocessor not skipping asm directives

    - by demula
I'm programming to a microprocessor (Coldfire) and I don't have access every day to the microprocessor trainer so I want to be able to execute some of my code on the computer. So I'm trying to skip a part of my code when executing on the computer by defining _TEST_. It doesn't work. It tries to compile the asm code and dies whining about not knowing the registers names (they're defined alright compiling against the Coldfire, not my Intel Core Duo). Any ideas why it's not working? or maybe an alternative way to run the code on the pc without commenting it out?. Here's sample code from my project: inline void ct_sistem_exit(int status) { #ifdef _TEST_ exit(status); #else asm volatile( "moveb #0,%%d1\n\t" "movel #0, %%d0\n\t" "trap #15\n\t" : : : "d0", "d1" ); #endif /* _TEST_ */ } If it helps: using gcc3 with cygwin on Netbeans 6.8

  • Tools for understanding large codebase

    - by 0tar0gz
Hi! My whole life I have been programming in simple plain text editor. Lately, I was contemplating about joining an open source project which is fairly large and written in C. I downloaded the sources, started to look around, read this, forget that... Then I thought to myself: this can't be true. This is 21st century there must be some tool which would help me to understand the code, perhaps some kind of IDE or "code navigator". What flows from here to where, this typedef struct is just interface to that private type, this function is just #define from above, function called in this file is defined in that file, ... you get the idea. Dear Stack Overflow, is this 21st century? Is there something like this?

  • the use of private keyword

    - by LAT
Hi everyone I am new to programming. I am learning Java now, there is something I am not really sure, that the use of private. Why programmer set the variable as private then write , getter and setter to access it. Why not put everything in public since we use it anyway. public class BadOO { public int size; public int weight; ... } public class ExploitBadOO { public static void main (String [] args) { BadOO b = new BadOO(); b.size = -5; // Legal but bad!! } } I found some code like this, and i saw the comment legal but bad. I don't understand why, please explain me.

  • Heap property of this array

    - by davit-datuashvili
From programming pearls, it is known that array[1...n] has heap property if for all 2<=i<=n x[i/2]<=x[i]. Here is my code: import java.math.*; public class Heap { public static void main(String[]args){ int x[]=new int[]{12,20,15,29,23,17,22,35,40,26,51,19}; int i=1; while (i<x.length) { if (x[Math.round(i/2)]<=x[i]) System.out.println("heap"); i++; } System.out.println("not heap"); } } Here I used Math.round because 4/2 and 5/2 is same and =2. When I compile this code it shows me at last line that it is not heap. Maybe because the index starts from 1 and we don't pay attention to index 0, yes?

  • Parent/Child forms communication issue

    - by user361583
Hi, I am very new to Visual C++ programming, but I have to write simple program which needs to do two things: ( I am using MS Visual C++ ) main ( parent ) form should be displayed when program starts, and after clicking a button on it, second form should be shown. Second form ( child ) also has a button, but this one should ( after clicking, of course ) show current X,Y child form position but on ( important ): parent form. And this is where i got stuck. I can display child form with: a) adding #include "child.h" in parent form.h b) adding child ^child_form; in public: section and afterwards using: child_form = gcnew child(); child_form-Show(); I was googling for two days now and cannot find a way to get it the other way: click on a button on child_form and display it's coordinates on parent form on label-text :/ when i tried to add #include "child.h" in child_form I just got error saying: "there are to many include files..." I really need to get this done and I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance :)

  • python: find and replace numbers < 1 in text file

    - by hjp
I'm pretty new to Python programming and would appreciate some help to a problem I have... Basically I have multiple text files which contain velocity values as such: 0.259515E+03 0.235095E+03 0.208262E+03 0.230223E+03 0.267333E+03 0.217889E+03 0.156233E+03 0.144876E+03 0.136187E+03 0.137865E+00 etc for many lines... What I need to do is convert all the values in the text file that are less than 1 (e.g. 0.137865E+00 above) to an arbitrary value of 0.100000E+01. While it seems pretty simple to replace specific values with the 'replace()' method and a while loop, how do you do this if you want to replace a range? thanks
