• Sort list of items in Django

  Hi Guys, I have a Django view called change_priority. I'm posting a request to this view with a commas separated list of values which is basically the order of the items in my model. The data looks like this: 1,4,11,31,2,4,7 I have a model called Items which has two values - id and priority. Upon getting this post request, how can I set the priority of the Item depending upon the list order. So my data in the db would look like. 1,1 4,2 11,3 31,4 2,5 4,6 7,7 Thanks guys.

• TortoiseSVN: how to set up projects on a existing directory structure of source code

  I have an old pet project I want to revive (haven't had enough time for it last year - small kid - you know) - so restored old copy of my dev folder from archive, but since I have rebuilt my machine since when - I can't remember what needs to be done now. I installed the latest version of TortoiseSVN, and the existing directory structure from my old dev machine looks like: ProjectName *SubProject1 **branches ***1.1 ***1.2 **tags **trunk *SubProject2 **branches **1.0.3 **1.0.4 **1.0.5 **tags **trunk I tried "import project" but it ask for a url - don't know what to specify there ... can someone post a url to a good TortSVN tutorial - so I could set up my projects quickly (I guess I need to setup SubProject1 and SubProject2) - then I install AnkhSVN for VS2008 and will spend this Sunday coding like crazy while I still have some time ;-)

Yahoo no longer complains with the message "Warning: This website has not confirmed its identity with Yahoo! and might be fraudulent." as outlined in Andrew Arnott's excellent blog post: http://blog.nerdbank.net/2008/06/why-yahoo-says-your-openid-site.html However, when I try to authenticate using AOL I see the "Warning! site verification could not be completed." message.

• Using DataAnnotations with Entity Framework

  I have used the Entity Framework with VS2010 to create a simple person class with properties, firstName, lastName, and email. If I want to attach DataAnnotations like as is done in this blog post I have a small problem because my person class is dynamically generated. I could edit the dynamically generated code directly but any time I have to update my model all my validation code would get wiped out. First instinct was to create a partial class and try to attach annotations but it complains that I'm trying to redefine the property. I'm not sure if you can make property declarations in C# like function declarations in C++. If you could that might be the answer.   The BING API provides extremely simple way to make search queries using BING. It provides nice way to get the search results as XML or JSON. In this blog post I will show one simple example on how to query BING and get the results as JSON in an ASP.NET website with help of jQuery’s getJSON ajax method. Basically we submit an HTTP GET request with the AppID which you can get in the BING Developer Center. To create new AppID, click here. Once you fill the form, submit it and you will get your AppID. Now, lets make this work in several steps. 1. Open VS.NET or Visual Web Developer.NET, create new sample project (or use existing one) and create new ASPX Web Form with name of your choice. 2. We get the keywords from the Text Box with id txtSearch and then we use encodeURIComponent. The encodeURIComponent is used to encode the special characters such as: , / ? : @ & = + $ #, which might be part of the search query string. Then we construct the URL and call it using HTTP GET. The callback function returns the data, where we first clear the html inside div with id result and after that we render the data.SearchResponse.Web.Results array of objects using template with id bingSearchTemplate and append the result into div with id result. 9.   Hello, I'm working on a asp.net mvc2 app. I have been using jquery to do various different things in all of my views. They are work from a regular browser quite well. But I'm trying to figure out a good way to get the functionality working with browsers with javascript disabled (like mobile browsers). Is there a way to define a whole different view for non javascript browsers? A specific example of what I'm trying to do is, I have a with it's onClick calling a javascript that does $.post() to a controller. What's a good way to make it, so, it works the way it works right now (doing ajax calls) with regular javascript-enabled browsers and it a also works with javascript-incapable browsers, doing a full postback ? • how to parse jquery ajax xhtml response?

  Sorry if this has been posted many times. But I've tried many variations and it still doesn't work. The HTML comes back from the jquery AJAX call fine and I am trying to remove the header and footers from the response using: // none of these work for me $("#content", data); $("#content", $(data)); $(data).find("#content").html() I've breakpoint the response to verify the #content exists by inspected $(data) and using alert to print out the data's text. I've also try using "body" or "a" as selectors, but it always come back as undefined. I've read in this post that you can't pull in the full XHTML document: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1050333/jquery-ajax-parse-response-text. But I can't find the answer's quote anymore, maybe it's outdated? Has anyone ran into this problem? Many thanks, Steve

  Scenario For a multiple file uploader I am implementing, I need to have a handler within a windows authenticated site that uses anonymous access. As detailed here, this is because Flash cannot use windows authentication. The aforementioned post states that the only way to accomplish this is to create a completely separate site. However, this seems like a big hassle just for an uploader. Is there a way to work around this limitation of IIS? Notes I am using asp.net 3.0 and IIS6 on a Windows 2003 Server with Service Pack 2.

• Determining URLs updated via a series of commit logs

  I'm working on a project where I programmatically need to know when a URL has been changed by a developer, post or during deploy. The obvious answer may be to curl the URL one day, save the output, then curl and in x days then do a diff. That won't work in my case, as I'm only looking for changes the developer mande. If the site is a blog, new comments, user submitted photos, etc would make that curl diff useless. RoR example, using github. Let's assume I have access to the entire repository and all commit logs between iterations. Is there a way I could see that "/views/people/show.html.erb" was commited, then backtrack from there (maybe by inspecting routes.rb), to come up with the URL I can then hit via a browser?

• Problem uploading .docx through html form

  I've made a simple form, with the proper enctype for uploading files. When i try to upload a .docx everything works fine in IE 8 and Safari, but in Firefox or IE 7 or 6 i can't even click submit, nothing happens! Could this still be a server issue? It's an apache server.   Hello, I work since 2 days on WMD & Markdown and i don't find THE solution for stock data with security. I would like users can post html/xml (with WMD) on my site. For the moment, I stock data in Markdown format but If I disabled JavaScript the user can push easy XSS. If I strip_tags or html_entities all data i loose the user html/xml . How can I do ? In my opinion I must html_entities just the code between pre /pre, but how?! my data is in Markdown. But the comment symbol // works with MVS 2008 and this symbol is in C99. I have two questions: To what extent MVS 2008 support C99? Is it ok in the same code to mix C89 and C99 syntax together? So if I write my code in C89 and then place a comment //. This means that I have mixed-coding. So what does the compiler do in such a case?   Can you validate just a single property with the Fluent Validation Library, and if so how? I thought this discussion thread from January of 2009 showed me how to do it via the following syntax: validator.Validate(new Person(), x => x.Surname); Unfortunately it doesn't appear this works in the current version of the library. One other thing that led me to believe that validating a single property might be possible is the following quote from Jeremy Skinners' blog post: "Finally, I added the ability to be able to execute some of FluentValidation’s Property Validators without needing to validate the entire object. This means it is now possible to stop the default “A value was required” message from being added to ModelState. " However I do not know if that necessarily means it supports just validating a single property or the fact that you can tell the validation library to stop validating after the first validation error.

This works and correctly calls my controller: Html.ActionLink<CreatePlayerController>(x => x.PlayerDetails(), "Click") This fails: LinkBuilder.BuildUrlFromExpression<CreatePlayerController>(null, Html.RouteCollection, x => x.PlayerDetails() ) The error is: System.InvalidOperationException: The IControllerFactory 'SF.Client.Website.StructureMapControllerFactory' did not return a controller for the name 'CreatePlayer'. My StructureMapControllerFactory. GetControllerInstance method is never called. Do I need to register my controller factory in some other way? It seems like the MvcFutures code is ignoring it.   What do I want to achieve: I want to perform some time consuming operations from my MDI winforms application (C# - .NET). An MDI child form may create the thread with the operation, which may take long time (from 0.1 seconds, to even half hour) to complete. In the meantime I want the UI to respond to user actions, including manipulation of data in some other MDI child form. When the operation completes, the thread should notify the MDI child that the calculations are done, so that the MDI child can perform the post-processing. How can I achieve this: Should I use explicit threading (i.e., create explicit threads), thread pools? Or simply just propose your solution. Should I create foreground or background threads? And how does the thread communicates with the GUI, according the solution you propose? If you know of a working example that handles a similar situation, please make a note.

  I am using jQuery remote validation to check if the description is already being used. So is it possible to only run the remote validation if the text field is different to what was originally in it? I noticed the the jQuery required validation has a depends option, but I couldn't get it to work with the remote call.
