• Unable to connect to mysql database using tomcat6 on ubuntu

  I have a Windows Service that does the following when started. When running via a Console application it works fine, but once I put in a Windows Service I get the below exception.   I'm hearing this alot, that you can develop an app in WPF and run it as a desktop app or in a browser. Is this really true? I've install visual studio 2010 and I see 2 project templates : WPF Windows Application and WPF Browser Application (XBAP). Currently reading a book on WPF, it talks about Page-Base app, which can be use for navigation. To creatre an app to run on your browser you have to use the WPF Browser Application. So if I start with WPF Windows Application template can I run it in a browser ? I am assuming not since most of my class will be Window and not Page ....

• deleting registry key, using Visual Studio 2008 setup and deployment project in windows 7

  I have created a setup and deployment project in Visual Studio 2008 Professional. I'm using Visual C++, and in it I have two exe files which run under custom actions. One is running in commit and other in uninstall. Purpose is to add a registry key at install time and remove it at uninstall. It works perfectly on Windows XP but when I change to Windows 7 and run the setup, only the key-adding part works. The key doesn't get deleted at uninstall. But when I take the uninstall exe file out from the setup and run it separately on Windows 7, (not through the setup, by just double-clicking on the exe) it removes the registry entry perfectly. Any idea what the problem is?

  I'm trying to configure nhibernate 2.1.2 to run in medium trust, without any luck. I have tried follwing the suggestions to run in medium trust and pre-generating the proxies. I then tried to remove all references to lazy loading setting the default-lazy="false" on all classes and bags. However this threw an exception asking me to configure the proxyfactory.factory_class None of these methds worked as they kept throwing generic security exceptions or throwing easying that libraries do not allow AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers. Am I using the wrong version of NHibernate if I want to run in medium trust? Is there a specific set of binaries, or source, which I should be using.

  I'm trying to configure Rsyslog 5.8.10 on CentOS 6.4 to send Apache's error and access logs to a remote server. It's working, but I have a couple questions. A) I would like to use as few queues (and resources) as possible. I send error logs to server A, send access logs to server A, send both logs in one stream to server B. Should I specify one queue per external service (2 queues) or one queue per stream (3 queues, as I have now)? • What's with all the mailing archives?

  When I google for certain questions, or problems I run into I would sometimes run into 'archive' sites - these sites contain forum questions or information from other sites that are extremely poorly formatted, and are copies of the well formatted original posts from various forums. An example of one of those sites in mail-archive.com and various similar sites. Can anybody explain to me why those sites exist and how come they don't get banned from Google (since all they have is copied content that is really poorly formatted by bots)? Thanks!

  For some reason, we can't update the SVN in some build machines. Installed svn version is 1.3.x. But Hudson slave used 1.6 to create a checkout. • Eclipse CDT on Snow Leopard cannot find binaries

  After upgraded to Snow Leopard, I can no longer run Eclipse CDT project on my computer. While the build process completes without any error, Eclipse does not recognize the binary file it created. When try to point to the binary file in Run Configuration.. dialog, it cannot find any binary in the project. Though executing the file from Terminal works fine. According to a post at on Eclipse forum, this might be a problem that Mach-O parser does not recognize 64-bit binaries. Does anyone know what are the solutions or workarounds to the problem so that I can run/debug my C++ projects on Snow Leopard. UPDATED The solution suggested by Shane, though allowing the binary created to be recognized, does introduce another problem. Since system libraries in Snow Leopard are all 64 bits, it is no longer possible to link the code created with -arch i386 with these libraries, and hence not a feasible solution yet.

  This is probably a simple problem. But I downloaded the pywiiuse library from here and I also downloaded the examples. However when I try to run one of the examples I end up with import issues. I'm not certain I have everything configured properly to run.   I used to use SVN 1.4 on OS X Leopard and everything was fine. A couple of weeks ago I installed a fresh copy of OS X 10.6. The version of SVN that comes with Snow Leopard is 1.6.5. I went ahead and built my own copy with 1.6.6. I'm using the built in apache server and just hosting repositories locally. Everything appeared to work fine until I actually tried to commit something. • How to debug a program as admin within Visual Studio

  I'm running VS2K8 in Win7 64-bit. I'm logged in as admin and I'm running it as admin, but the program I'm working on fails with access denied when I call a restricted API. If run the program from Explorer with "Run as Administrator" it works. I was under the belief that VS2K8 debugs programs with whatever rights VS2K8 itself is running with. As it stands I can't debug my application due to this and I'm at a loss as to what's going on.

• Juniper not working on Windows 8.1

  I recently upgrade my laptop to windows 8.1 and now I can't run the Juniper terminal to connect to the company VPN. At the moment to click on the virtual machine it launche the terminal and afetr a few seconds a messages popup appears saying: juniper terminal services client has stopped working When I had windows 8 I was able to run Juniper without any problem. But in Windows 8.1 seems there are compatibilities issues. Any suggestion, solution or workaround? Thanks in advance

  When I run for i in $(find -name '*.ogg'); do echo '$i'; done I don't get one line per file as I expected. Instead, when a file name has a space in it, each word comes out in a separate line, so I can't run commands on the files.

• Silverlight tests not working unless RDP connection open

  I have a few Silverlight UI tests that I'm automating with White. These tests are subsequently run by a TFS build agent, which is running interactively so it can access the desktop. The build passes if I have a Remote Desktop connection open to the build agent as the tests are run; I can see the mouse pointer moving around. When the test clicks on a HyperlinkButton navigation takes place, and is subsequently verified by assertions within the test. The build fails if I do not have a Remote Desktop connection open to the build agent as the tests are run. The Internet Explorer window is created and the Silverlight app loads, but no clicks happen; the application remains on the initial page and test assertions subsequently fail. Has anyone out there found a solution to this problem?

  Hi, I have created a setup and deployment project in visual studio 2008 pro. using visual C++, and in it I have two exe files which run under custom actions. One is running in commit and other in uninstall. Purpose is to add a registry key at install time and remove it at uninstall. It works perfectly on Windows XP but when I change to Windows 7 and run the setup, only the key-adding part works. The key doesn't get deleted at uninstall. But when I take the uninstall exe file out from the setup and run it separately on Windows 7, (not through the setup, by just double-clicking on the exe) it removes the registry entry perfectly. • Stop IIS 7 Application Pool from build script

  How can I stop and then restart an IIS 7 application pool from an MSBuild script running inside TeamCity. I want to deploy our nightly builds to an IIS server for out testers to view. I have tried using appcmd like so: appcmd stop apppool /apppool.name:MYAPP-POOL ... but I have run into elevation issues in Windows 2008 that so far have stopped me from being able to run that command from my TeamCity build process because Windows 2008 requires elevation in order to run appcmd. If I do not stop the application pool before I copy my files to the web server my MSBuild script is unable to copy the files to the server. Has anybody else seen and solved this issue when deploying web sites to IIS from TeamCity?

I used to have a Windows/Dos batch file in order to launch Mencoder with the right set of parameters, without having to type them each time. Things got messy when I tried to improve my script, and I decided that it would be a good opportunity to try coding something in python.
