• Downloading HTTP URLs asynchronously in C++

  What's a good way to download HTTP URLs (e.g. such as http://0.0.0.0/foo.htm ) in C++ on Linux ? I strongly prefer something asynchronous. My program will have an event loop that repeatedly initiates multiple (very small) downloads and acts on them when they finish (either by polling or being notified somehow). I would rather not have to spawn multiple threads/processes to accomplish this. That shouldn't be necessary. Should I look into libraries like libcurl? I suppose I could implement it manually with non-blocking TCP sockets and select() calls, but that would likely be less convenient.

  I'm writing a banking system and my customer wants support both Russian and American numeric standards in decimal digits delimiter. Respectively . and ,. Now only , works properly. Perhaps because of web server's OS format (Russian is set). String like 2000.00 throws a FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format. How to fix that? Are there any other ideas except String.Replace('.', ',') on FormView.ItemInserting event?

  I am at present developing a mvc4 project that comunicates to a set of wcf services. I am setting such up in tfs build for a team of developers. I am very much a newbie to fxcop and code analysis in general. I am currently researching it and have some questions following this: Is it recommended to use the rules that come with fxcop? Should it be included as a build task during builds? What is the value from it? Are there guidelines to what rules to abide by or is it best to go with the default? Is it correct to run the analysis as a post build event? I am a newbie to fxcop and would like some feedback. I am as it is integrating stylecop in to my build.

• Auto save changed text in richtextbox to database

  I have created one simple note taking application in jquery & php. Current functionality is like when user clicks save button it sends a ajax request with complete data to update it in db(mysql). All works well. But now I want to auto save only changed text while user typing. I don't want to send entire text to server again and again in text change event. It should send only text which has changed. For Ex: This is saved text. When user continues typing. This is saved text. Unsaved text.. It should be able to send only "Unsaved text.." to server to update in db. How can i implement this in jquery & server side script.? Any Idea..?

  Is there any way to capture the time interval between mouse wheel scroll start and stop? Actually I want to capture the interval between the scrolling start and stop when I very quickly scroll the mouse wheel. I have already looked at MouseWheel event but it don't fulfill my requirement. In senes that it always gives a value of Delta 120 or -120 but i want to call a function depending on the speed of the mouse scroll for example when i scroll the mouse normally i want to perform function 1 and when i scrolled the mouse very quickly i want to perform the function 2. In other words is there any way to distinguish between the mouse scroll high and normal speed. Any advice will be appreciated.

• Creating C# form fields with events based off of a text file

  I need to generate windows form fields based off of a text file that I am parsing. I also want to automatically generate validation event handlers which all will be basically the same only the form field and the regular expression which is used to validate the field will change. I'm having a difficult time figuring out the quickest and easiest method to go about doing this. Any pointers in the right direction would really be great, maybe even some keywords that I'm missing. I can only imagine this type of question has been covered before, I just don't know what I'm searching for really.

• Why do my WPF UIElements NOT have OnPreview events?

  I'm building a custom Silverlight UserControl which needs to listen to events using Preview/Tunneling, but for some reason the compiler is telling me they are not recognized or accessible. For example, I can add an event handler to MouseLeftButtonDown, but not PreviewMouseLeftButtonDown. This doesn't make sense because according to Microsoft (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.uielement_members(v=VS.100).aspx) all UIElements should have Preview events attached. Any ideas as to why this is happening? I'm using Visual Studio 2010 Trial, Blend 4 RC and .Net 4, if that makes a difference.

  Hi folks, i created an additional IBOutlet UIView. at the same time i place the IBOutlet UIPicker view in additional view. Give connections and add Addtional view as subview to main view. As [self.view addsubview:addtionalview]; I write this code in one button click event. Unfortunatly i got additional view in button click but it did n't show UIPicker. whats the wrong.   I've searched everywhere, but I can't seem to find any help... I have some textboxes that are created dynamically via JS, so I need to bind all of their classes to an autocomplete. As a result, I need to use the new .live() option. As an example, to bind all items with a class of .foo now and future created: $('.foo').live('click', function(){ alert('clicked'); }); It takes (and behaves) the same as .bind(). However, I want to bind an autocomplete... This doesn't work: $('.foo').live('autocomplete', function(event, ui){ source: 'url.php' // (surpressed other arguments) }); How can I use .live() to bind autocomplete?   I am trying to follow the recommended way of parsing XML with StAX using sun's Cursor-to-Event Example for Java EE 5. You are supposed to traverse the XML via the Cursor API and allocate an XMLEventusing an XMLEventAllocator when necessary. Awkwardly, sun's own example does not compile (at least not with JDK 1.6, even with 1.5 code compliance). The example tries to instantiate an allocator via new, but the according implementation classes in the JDK are not accessible externally. After reading the JavaDocs and searching the web I have found literally nothing. One could implement the XMLEventAllocator interface from scratch, but it seems really wrong, when there are perfectly good implementations in the JDK, besides not being an expert in StAX makes it difficult to get it right.

• How do I close a form when the ESC key was hit, but only if no Control handled it?

  I have a Form that closes itself when the ESC key is pressed, thanks to KeyPreview, ProcessKeyEventArgs, ProcessCmdKey or whatever. But I have a Control on that form that does very relevant things when ESC is pressed (it hides itself) and the Form should not be closed when that happens. The control uses the KeyDown event and sets the SuppressKeyPress flag to true, but that happens after the aforementioned form key preview, thus having no effect. Is there some sort KeyPostview ? How do I not close the form when a Control has a relevant use of a key hit ? Edit: The control handling ESC is a textbox embedded in a hand-maid ListView. The textbox appears when the user clicks a cell, enabling edition. To validate the new text, ENTER would be nice (that already works, as giving the focus to anything else). To cancel edition, ESC seems most natural.

• Rsspnse.redirect will not redirect on Internet explorer

  Hi, I am using Response.Redirect("someurl",true); in the page_preInit event to redirect all the requests that come to a page. It works fine on Firexox, but if i access the page from internet explorer 7/8, it says page can not be found and will not redirect to new URL. Any idea why this happens?? Update: I tried giving a radom URL in the redirect such as google.com and it works fine. Actually the URL I am trying to redirect is not accessible on my machine, it is on another VPN. I guess IE will not change the URL on the addressbar if it can not access the URL. Firefox on the other hand changes the address on the address bar.

In this function if I say mycomponent._urlRequest ="http://mysite.com" the httpservice throws a null url error but if I say mycomponent.srv.url="http://mysite.com" it works fine. Why is this?

I tried to minimize and hide it in the Load event, but it does nothing. Edit : I could, as a poster suggested, modify the shortcut properties, but I'd rather use code : I don't have complete control over every computer the soft is installed on. I don't want to remove it completely from everywhere except the systray, I just want it to start minimized. Any ideas ? Thanks

My question is what will be the correct way to do that?   I'd like to get the message number and severity level information from SQL Server upon execution of an erroneous query. For example, when a user attempts to delete a row being referenced by another record, and the cascade relationship is "no action", I'd like the application to be able to check for error message 547 ("The DELETE statement conflicted with the REFERENCE constraint...") and return a user friendly and localized message to the user. When running such a query directly on SQL Server, the following message is printed: Msg 547, Level 16, State 0, Line 1 <Error message...> In an Asp.Net app is this information available in an event handler parameter or elsewhere? Also, I don't suppose anyone knows where I can find a definitive reference of SQL Server message numbers?

• OpenSSH connection trouble

  Hi, I'm trying to use Putty 0.60 to log in to an OpenSSH 5.3 server. Connections with openssh from another Linux server are possible, but Putty fails. Putty's event log tells me "software caused connection abort" right after the DH key exchange, the server log doesn't report anything (set to INFO). I analyzed the traffic with Wireshark and got a whole bunch of "TCP retransmission" and "TCP DUP ACK" after said key exchange. Sometimes I was able to log in, but at some point (usually < 2 min.) the connection froze without any logged messages. Sadly, I didn't capture a trace. The server is my own (Funtoo with genkernel and gentoo-sources 2.6.34), so I may tweak it, but I'd still like to know what causes the error. Any suggestions? Thank you!

I want to know if there's any way to determine the original url later on in Application_BeginRequest event. For example... Original url: http://domain.com/products/cool-hat.aspx Re-written url (from 3rd party httpmodule): http://domain.com/products.aspx?productId=123 In the past I have written HttpModules that store the original url in HttpContext.Items but, this is a 3rd party app and I have no way of doing that. I don't always want to start at a "default" top directory level. The ability to grab an event when the user double clicks on a file in the tree.   Hey guys, When using the Facebook Connect AS API, the user will be prompted to log in to FB in a pop up window. At this point I want to block interaction in my flash movie and wait for them to complete logging in (or potentially close/cancel and not log in). I have seen examples where people put up a Flex "Alert" box with some hint like "Press ok once you have logged into facebook", but I want to automatically listen for them logging in or canceling/closing the popup window without logging in. Is there an event I can listen for with flash? So far I am using ZERO javascript, but I guess I could add a little if it is needed for this... I definitely want to avoid having some sort of "Press OK" alert box, but instead have the flash application automatically react to the user logging in with the popup window.
