  • Rails - Posting a Boolean (true or False) and updating the DB in the controller

    - by AnApprentice
Hello, in my Rails 3 App, I'm posting with jQuery the following: http://0.0.0.0:3000/topics/read_updater?&topic_id=101&read=true In my controller: def read_updater current_user.topics.where(:topic_id => params[:topic_id]).update_all(:read => params[:read]) render :json => {:status => 'success' } end params[:conversation_id] works great, but params[:read] is inserting empty values in the DB, even though jQuery is posting either a true or false. Ideas? I want rails to update the DB with either true or false. Thanks

  • reCaptcha accepts wrong answers sometimes

    - by frankadelic
We are using recaptcha ASP.NET control: http://recaptcha.net/plugins/aspnet/ However, we find that in some situations, recaptcha accepts answers which are clearly wrong. For example, recaptcha provided these words: of purser The tester typed in the following: o purser ..but Page.IsValid returned true! Is this a known issue with recaptcha?

  • What would you use for auto completion in Rails app?

    - by Andrei
I want to use auto-completion in a number of fields (5-7) in my forms. There is a screencast on auto-completion with Prototype library by Ryan Bates ( http://railscasts.com/episodes/102-auto-complete-association). On the other hand, I have noticed that quite many guys suggest jQuery for this task ( http://jquery.bassistance.de/autocomplete/demo/). And I guess, there was probably some development last year(s), so I ask you - what would you use nowadays to auto-complete your form fields and why? BTW, I still have an open question on auto completion for HABTM association: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1510935/how-to-do-habtm-management-with-auto-completion-in-rails

  • Sinatra, JavaScript Cross-Domain Requests JSON

    - by pex
I run a REST-API build on top of Sinatra. Now I want to write a jQuery Script that fetches data from the API. Sinatra is told to response with JSON before do content_type :json end A simple Route looks like get '/posts' do Post.find.to_json end My jQuery script is a simple ajax-call $.ajax({ type: 'get', url: 'http://api.com/posts', dataType: 'json', success: function(data) { // do something } }) Actually everything works fine as long as both runs on the same IP, API and requesting JS. I already tried to play around with JSONP for Rack without any positive results, though. Probably I just need a hint how to proceed.

  • ASP.NET: Validate text box contains integer greater than equal to zero?

    - by User
If I want to validate that a text box contains an integer greater than or equal to zero. Do I need to use TWO asp:CompareValidator controls: one with a DataTypeCheck operator and one with a GreaterThanEqual operator? Or is the datatype operator redundant? Can I just use a single validator with the GreaterThanEqual operator (and the type set to Integer)?

  • How could I implement a fuzzy time date replacer using Knockout?

    - by rball
I'd like to implement what this plugin does using jQuery: https://github.com/rmm5t/jquery-timeago A short description of that plugin: This will turn all abbr elements with a class of timeago and an ISO 8601 timestamp in the title (conforming to the datetime design pattern microformat): <abbr class="timeago" title="2011-12-17T09:24:17Z">December 17, 2011</abbr> Into something like this: <abbr class="timeago" title="December 17, 2011">about 1 day ago</abbr> Except using knockout my markup looks like this: <abbr data-bind="attr: { title: Posted }" class="timeago"></abbr> I think something isn't synced up because nothing is happening even if I put the call to timeago within the viewmodel itself. I'm guessing I need a subscriber that's attached to the observable "Posted" but I'm not sure how to set that up.

  • Making invisible table rows visible one by one

    - by Roland
I have the following situation I have a couple of table rows within a table eg <tr><td>One</td></tr> <tr><td>Two</td></tr> <tr><td>Three</td></tr> <tr><td>Four</td></tr> <tr><td>Five</td></tr> Say all of them are invisible Then I have a button to make them visible one by one, so if row 1 is invisible and I press the button then row 1 should be visible, if I press it again it sees that row 1 is already visible then it makes row 2 visible and so it goes on and on and on. How can I do this in Jquery so that jquery can accomplish this task for me. Is it possible?

  • How do I change the style of an input box in IE7 on focus?

    - by Cen
I know IE7 has issues... I've read posts here and on Google telling me I need to set the style by hand onfocus() and onblur(). However, everything I try isn't working! Here is my jQuery $(document).ready(function(){ if (jQuery.browser.msie === true) { $("input.date-picker").each(function(i) { var $foo= $(this); $foo.bind('onfocus onblur', function() { $(this).toggleClass('smalltxt-active'); }); }); }//end if }); The a corresponding box <input name="ctl00$SelectionContent$Selections1$txtDestinationDate" type="text" id="ctl00_SelectionContent_Selections1_txtDestinationDate" class="date-picker" style="width:80px;" /> I have already confirmed that my code is detecting MSIE. That I am getting a count of 2 input.date-picker objects. Any ideas? Thanks in advance,

  • WCF - call same service from client and server side

    - by Steve
I have a simple WCF service that I call server side from code behind via a service reference. It's used for validation and works and was automatically setup by Visual Studio and is using SOAP I think because the binding is wsHttpBinding. I want to use the same WCF service, but call it client side from jQuery using ajax(). I'm trying to implement it by way of these instructions. But if I make the changes to get the client side call working, I have to add the decoration below which I think will break what works on the server side and also change the system.serviceModel section in web.config. [WebInvoke(Method = "POST", BodyStyle = WebMessageBodyStyle.Wrapped, ResponseFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json, RequestFormat= WebMessageFormat.Json) ] How do I have a WCF service that can be called both from the server-side and client side (jQuery/ajax)?

  • Why doesn't Rails' "errors.full_messages" replace attribute and message variables?

    - by tybro0103
Having a strange problem with a rails model I just created. Here are my validations: validates_presence_of :from_name, :message => 'Please provide a from name.' validates_presence_of :from_email validates_presence_of :giftition_plan_id I'm having issues using errors.full_messages as well as f.error_messages in my form: g = Giftition.create g.errors.first => ["from_name", "Please provide a from name."] >> g.errors.full_messages => ["{{attribute}} {{message}}", "{{attribute}} {{message}}", "{{attribute}} {{message}}"] I'm just getting "{{attribute}} {{message}}". Any ideas? UPDATE: I've uninstalled rails 3 and all the gems that were installed with it and that made the problem go away. It's not a fix though... I would still like to have rails 3 installed.

  • show the list of usernames inside a div

    - by Mr_Green
I am new to jQuery. In my project, I created one Class User in which the code is as shown below: static ConcurrentDictionary<string, User> _users = new ConcurrentDictionary<string, User>(); // // some function to add values to _users list // public List<User> GetConnectedUsers() { return _users.Values.ToList(); } I want to show this list of values in div #showUsernames. How to do this by using jQuery? I tried the below which is not showing anything /*display your contacts*/ $('#showUsernames').append(function(){ chat.server.getConnectedUsers(); }); where chat.server(signalr) calls the server-side code(Chat class).. I think the solution has nothing to do with signalr. If the above description is not enough then you can go through my code here

  • Regular Expression to match IP address + wildcard

    - by Ed Woodcock
Hey guys I'm trying to use a RegularexpressionValidator to match an IP address (with possible wildcards) for an IP filtering system. I'm using the following Regex: "([0-9]{1,3}\\.|\\*\\.){3}([0-9]{1,3}|\\*){1}" Which works fine when running it in LINQPad with Regex.Matches, but doesn't seem to work when I'm using the validator. Does anyone have a suggestion as to either a better Regex or why it would work in test but not in situ? Cheers, Ed

  • PHP validating integers

    - by Mikk
Hi, I was wondering, what would be the best way to validate an integer. I'd like this to work with strings as well, so I could to something like (string)+00003 - (int)3 (valid) (string)-027 - (int)-27 (valid) (int)33 - (int)33 (valid) (string)'33a' - (FALSE) (invalid) That is what i've go so far: function parseInt($int){ //If $int already is integer, return it if(is_int($int)){return $int;} //If not, convert it to string $int=(string)$int; //If we have '+' or '-' at the beginning of the string, remove them $validate = ($int[0] === '-' || $int[0] === '+')?substr($int, 1):$int; //If $validate matches pattern 0-9 convert $int to integer and return it //otherwise return false return preg_match('/^[0-9]+$/', $validate)?(int)$int:FALSE; } As far as I tested, this function works, but it looks like a clumsy workaround. Is there any better way to write this kind of function. I've also tried filter_var($foo, FILTER_VALIDATE_INT); but it won't accept values like '0003', '-0' etc.
