  I have two lists List<User> list_of_users=new ArrayList<User>(); List<String> list_of_attributes=new ArrayList<String>(); When i try to use the following lines of code: model.addAttribute("takeattributes",list_of_users); model.addAttribute("takeattributes",list_of_attributes); I realise that it keeps only the second list (list_of_attributes) and the first deleted. I was wondering how to keep both of these two lists in the model.Is this possible to be happened?Is the AddAllAttributes method what i need?If yes can anyone explain me how the AddAllAttributes method is working.I look at the spring mvc documentation but i didn't really understand.

• SharePoint Documents Library - Change "Document Created By" field

  Hello, I have a code that changes the username in various SharePoint lists, mostly by the "Author" column. It all works fine on normal lists, but it doesn't seem to work on the "Shared Documents" list which is a document library. Whether I change the username in "Created By" or "Document Created By", the change doesn't seem to take effect. The item.Update command doesn't throw any exception, but it clearly doesn't update the field(s). What can I do if I want to change this field through code? Thanks

• Trying to get distinct values from two List<int> objects

  I have 2 List objects: List<int> lst1 = new List<int>(); List<int> lst2 = new List<int>(); Let's say they have values: lst1.Add(1); lst1.Add(2); lst1.Add(3); lst1.Add(4); lst2.Add(1); lst2.Add(4); I need to get an object containing the "distinct" list of both of these; so in this case the return would be List {2, 3}. Is there an easy way to do this? Or do I need to iterate through each value of the lists and compare? I am open to using ObjectQuery, LINQ, etc as these lists are coming from a database, and could potentially be several hundred to several thousand entries long. Thanks!

  I'm a Python newbie and one of the things I am trying to do is wrap my head around list comprehension. I can see that it's a pretty powerful feature that's worth learning. cities = ['Chicago', 'Detroit', 'Atlanta'] airports = ['ORD', 'DTW', 'ATL'] print zip(cities,airports) [('Chicago', 'ORD'), ('Detroit', 'DTW'), ('Atlanta', 'ATL')] How do I use list comprehension so I can get the results as a series of lists within a list, rather than a series of tuples within a list? [['Chicago', 'ORD'], ['Detroit', 'DTW'], ['Atlanta', 'ATL']] (I realize that dictionaries would probably be more appropriate in this situation, but I'm just trying to understand lists a bit better).   When declaring a class that inherits from a specific class: class C(dict): added_attribute = 0 the documentation for C lists all the methods of dict (either through help(C) or pydoc). Is there a way to hide the inherited methods from the automatically generated documentation (the documentation string can refer to the base class, for non-overwritten methods)? This would be useful: pydoc lists the functions defined in a module after its classes. Thus, when the classes have a very long documentation, a lot of less than useful information is printed before the new functions provided by the module are presented, which makes the documentation harder to exploit (you have to skip all the documentation for the inherited methods until you reach something specific to the module being documented).

• Is it possible to match with decomposed sequences in F#?

  I seem to remember an older version of F# allowing structural decomposition when matching sequences just like lists. Is there a way to use the list syntax while keeping the sequence lazy? I'm hoping to avoid a lot of calls to Seq.head and Seq.skip 1. I'm hoping for something like: let decomposable (xs:seq<'a>) = match xs with | h :: t -> true | _ -> false seq{ 1..100 } |> decomposable But this only handles lists and gives a type error when using sequences. When using List.of_seq, it seems to evaluate all the elements in the sequence, even if it is infinite.

Right now our SharePoint sites built on FBA based, so all sites are behind login page. Now I export each updates from these lists to our another external public site (anonymous). I know we have default View RSS Feed option. But that is not working for all readers like Google Reader, etc. Is there any free developer (open source) tool supports in this?   We are given a list of animals in different zoos and need to find which zoos have animals that are not in any others. The animals of each zoo are separated by spaces, and each zoo is originally separated by a comma. I am currently enumerating over all of the zoos to split each animal and create lists within lists for different zoos as such: for i, zoo in enumerate(zoos): zoos[i] = zoo.split() However, I then do not know how to tell and count how many of the zoos have unique animals. I figure it is something else with enumerate and possibly sets, but cannot get it down exactly. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

• Cascading Dropdown List

  I am working on a web app and trying to code a form with two dropdown lists. The list in the second dropdown will be dependent on the selection from the first one. The task itself isn’t too complicated except that once the first selection is made, I need to make a database call to pull the data for the second dropdown. This is where I am having difficulty. Both lists are in fact populated from a database. I am working on this in a python script and have been trying to do this w/ an onChange javascript function. The web app is built in Zope and page templates may be an option along w/ the python scripts.

  Hi Everyone, I have number of select lists in my rails application like this: <li>Company<span><%= f.select :company_id, Company.all.collect {|m| [m.companyname, m.id]} %></span></li> They all work well, except - sometimes if you go to the edit view, the select list reverts to the top item, not the item that was chosen when creating. So if you go to an edit view and then click update without actually making any changes, the lists default to the top item - even though you didn't touch them. Is there a way around this?   Currently I am developing a CakePHP that will list various businesses. In the database, there is a table for businesses that lists them like so: id | name | address | city | state | state_id | zip | url The state column are abbreviations of states (for listing purposes) CA, AK, FL, etc and the state_id matches up with the ids in the states table: id | name | state_abbr I have an admin_add.ctp template with form helpers for inserting new businesses. For entering a state for a business I am going to have a pull down that lists all the states. However, how do I make the database insert so it will know how to add the state abbreviation and state id when I submit the form to add the business?

  Hi, i have this two lists, from which i can move items from one to another with jquery ui and connect lists, with ajax. If an item is pulled over, a message is generated in a php file and then it appears on screen. Now i want that for example the right list should be allowed to contain ten items at max. It would be great if it would be possible with jquery, that if there is already ten items in the list and you go and drag the eleventh, if then the item would somehow vanish, maybe with a little effekt. I think maybe reading out db in the php-file if theres already ten items, and so on. But i have currently no idea, if and in case if in which way, jquery would support this kind of behaviour. • Retain ViewData when editing variable length list

  I'm editing variable length lists and use ViewData to pass around information for filling a DropDownList. I use the method described here for editing these lists: http://blog.stevensanderson.com/2010/01/28/editing-a-variable-length-list-aspnet-mvc-2-style/ The data for this dropdownlist comes from the database. As the ViewData is not available across requests, I currently do a new query to the database each and every time. This also happens when the ModelState is not valid and the form is redisplayed. Of course, this is less then ideal even for a light-weight query as this one. How can I retain the information from that query across requests as long as the user is editing the page with that variable length list?

The things that work are that the lists are connected, items are draggable, items can be removed and a form that adds to the list. What I need however is a function that gets all the content for li items and json encode them ready to be sent off to some db function, or something. I have a list consisting of other lists and some zeroes, for example: x = [[1, 1, 2], [1, 1, 1, 2], [1, 1, 2], 0, 0, 0] I would like to generate all the combinations of this list while keeping the order of the inner lists unchanged, so [[1, 1, 2], 0, 0, [1, 1, 1, 2], [1, 1, 2], 0] is fine, but [[1, 1, 1, 2], [1, 1, 2], 0, 0, [1, 1, 2], 0] isn't. I've got the feeling that this should be fairly easy in Python, but I just don't see it. Could somebody help me out?

  I just started programming in Excel and I have a problem figuring some code out. I have created a work schedule in Excel with lists in order to add new people. I wanted to create a macro in which the user inputs a value in a cell (I chose B3) and depending on that 'start time' in cell B3, the headers for the lists all change to correspond with that starting time. For example: B3 says 5:00 am. All the headers will follow with: 5:00 am, 6:00 am, 7:00 am, etc. of course the headers will move at some point so I'm wondering how do you point to a cell that moves too?

  Hi, I have a list of objects in Python. I then have another list of objects. I want to go through the first list and see if any items appear in the second list. I thought I could simply do for item1 in list1: for item2 in list2: if item1 == item2: print "item %s in both lists" However this does not seem to work. Although if I do: if item1.title == item2.title: it works okay. I have more attributes than this though so don't really want to do 1 big if statement comparing all the attributes if I don't have to. Can anyone give me help or advise on what I can do to find the objects which appear in both lists. Thanks

• Inbreeding-immune database structure

  I have an application that requires a "simple" family tree. I would like to be able to perform queries that will give me data for an entire family given one id from a member in the family. I say simple because it does not need to take into account adoption or any other obscurities. The requirements for the application are as follows: Any two people will not be able to breed if they're from the same genetic line Needs to allow for the addition of new family lines (new people with no previous family) Need to be able to pull siblings, parents separately through queries I'm having trouble coming up with the proper structure for the database. So far I've come up with two solutions but they're not very reliable and will probably get out of hand quite quickly. Solution 1 involves placing a family_ids field on the people table and storing a list of unique family ids. Each time two people breed the lists are checked against each other to make sure no ids match and if everything checks out will merge the two lists and set that as the child's family_ids field. Example: Father (family_ids: (null)) breeds with Mother (family_ids: (213, 519)) -> Child (family_ids: (213, 519)) breeds with Random Person (family_ids: (813, 712, 122, 767)) -> Grandchild (family_ids: (213, 519, 813, 712, 122, 767)) And so on and so forth... The problem I see with this is the lists becoming unreasonably large as time goes on. Solution 2 uses cakephp's associations to declare: public $belongsTo = array( 'Father' => array( 'className' => 'User', 'foreignKey' => 'father_id' ), 'Mother' => array( 'className' => 'User', 'foreignKey' => 'mother_id' ) ); Now setting recursive to 2 will fetch the results of the mother and father, along with their mother and father, and so on and so forth all the way down the line. The problem with this route is that the data is in nested arrays and I'm unsure of how to efficiently work through the code. If anyone would be able to steer me in the direction of the most efficient way to handle what I want to achieve that would be tremendously helpful. Any and all help is greatly appreciated and I'll gladly answer any questions anyone has. Thanks a lot.

• How do I parse a templated string in Python?

  I'm new to Python, so I'm not sure exactly what this operation is called, hence I'm having a hard time searching for information in it. Basically I'd like to have a string such as: "[[size]] widget that [[verb]] [[noun]]" Where size, verb, and noun are each a list. I'd like to interpret the string as a metalanguage, such that I can make lots of sentences out permutations from the lists. As a metalanguage, I'd also be able to make other strings that use those pre-defined lists to generate more permutations. Are there any capabilities for variable substitution like this in Python? What term describes this operation if I should just Google it?

• XBox 360 Dashboard Plugins

  Is it possible to create plug ins for the Xbox 360 dashboard? I was looking to turn the 360 into the hub for the family. So you could for example turn the xbox on, and there on the dashboard see all the families calendars merged, todo lists, grocery lists, birthdays etc. I can't see anybody talking about plugins for the dashboard around the net so I'm guessing you can't, but thought I'd check. Next option will be something like a net top running in the family room, but that means 2 devices then, one for gaming and one for the family functions
