  • Using regex to fix phone numbers in a CSV with PHP

    My new phone does not recognize a phone number unless it's area code matches the incoming call. Since I live in Idaho where an area code is not needed for in-state calls, many of my contacts were saved without an area code. Since I have thousands of contacts stored in my phone, it would not be practical to manually update them. I decided to write the following PHP script to handle the problem.   • Using the MVVM Light Toolkit to make Blendable applications

    A while ago, I posted a question regarding switching between a Blend-authored GUI and a Visual Studio-authored one. I got it to work okay by adding my Blend project to my VS2008 project and then changing the Startup Application and recompiling. This would result in two applications that had completely different GUIs, yet used the exact same ViewModel and Model code. I was pretty happy with that. Now that I've learned about the Laurent Bugnion's MVVM Light Toolkit, I would really like to leverage his efforts to make this process of supporting multiple GUIs for the same backend code possible. The question is, does the toolkit facilate this, or am I stuck doing it my previous way? I've watched his video from MIX10 and have read some of the articles about it online. However, I've yet to see something that indicates that there is a clean way to allow a user to either dynamically switch GUIs on the fly by loading a different DLL. There are MVVM templates for VS2008 and Blend 3, but am I supposed to create both types of projects for my application and then reference specific files from my VS2008 solution? UPDATE I re-read some information on Laurent's site, and seemed to have forgotten that the whole point of the template was to allow the same solution to be opened in VS2008 and Blend. So anyhow, with this new perspective it looks like the templates are actually intended to use a single GUI, most likely designed entirely in Blend (with the convenience of debugging through VS2008), and then be able to use two different ViewModels -- one for design-time, and one for runtime. So it seems to me like the answer to my question is that I want to use a combination of my previous solution, along with the MVVM Light Toolkit. The former will allow me to make multiple, distinct GUIs around my core code, while the latter will make designing fancy GUIs in Blend easier with the usage of a design-time ViewModel. Can anyone comment on this?

    Hi, I have a problem with group expressions in a list. I want to use two expressions: '=Ceiling(RowNumber(Nothing)/3)' and '=Cint(Fields!kpilevel.Value)' They work both individually, but when I insert them together only 1 works. I'm trying this to match the first two just as a test: "/meadinkent/record/comp_div[.='" & comp_div & "'] and /meadinkent/record/sty_ret_type[.='" & sty_ret_type & "']" Which is failing, saying no nodes are returned. Note: It seems to me that the files are processed separately and because the file Solvers.xaml contains the error the MainWindow.xaml file also contains the very same error. Note 2: XAML files use AvalonDock library Is there a way how to say that Solvers.xaml is only an extension of another file? Thank you for any help!

    Hello. I would like to stream videos that reside at the webserver from within a ExpressionMediaPlayer control. The following results in a network error. I believe that the problem is with my Uri. I have the videos inside the 'ClentBin' folder.     Hi, I want to match against Strings such as AhKs & AdKs (i.e. two cards Ah = Ace of Hearts). I want to match two off-suit cards with a regex, what I currently have is "^[AKQJT2-9][hscd]{2}$", but this could match hands such as AhKh (suited) and AhAh. Is there a way to possibly use backreferences to say the second [hscd] cannot be the same as the firs (similarly for [AKQJT2-9])

I also want to include the hierachly structure of the categories. So if we have a leave node, recusivly go up to the top node.   • How to go to the next level integrating animations in WPF applications with Blend / VS2008?

    I have been able to create little animations with the storyline in Blend. And I have been able to copy in the isolated storylines and triggers into existing projects in visual studio to spruce them up on the edges a little bit. But after adding too many animations, they start to conflict or cancel each other out, etc., or I can make a panel slide down and slide it back up, then it no longer can slide down since it is not in its original state anymore. Does anyone have any links, video tutorials, books, resources which not only show you how to make a little animation and then leave you to figure out how to integrate numerous animations into a typical business application layout, but instead take you through the whole process of building a business application while integrating animations and WPF goodness with Blend and Visual Studio?

    I am trying to take a string of text like so: $string = "This (1) is (2) my (3) example (4) text"; In every instance where there is a positive integer inside of parentheses, I'd like to replace that with simply the integer itself. The code I'm using now is: $result = preg_replace("((\d+))", "$0", $string); But I keep getting a "Delimiter must not be alphanumeric or backslash" error. Any thoughts? I know there are other questions on here that sort of answer the question, but my knowledge of regex is not enough to switch it over to this example.

Tomorrow the "OverRepresentedVariant"-value might have changed to 3, this would mean that I should now grab the "Variant3"-value instead. So this is what I got. I have a variable called $btOver which contains the above XML. I also have a variable called $btId which contains the "OverRepresentedVariant"-value like this: <xsl:variable name="btId" select="$btOver/OverRepresentedVariant" /> So now I need some help finding the Variant-tags with the right ID.   • Query gives an unsorted result set when run from stored procedure using CTE

    I am trying to create a paging query using CTE. It works fine when I execute it from Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Query Editor. And the result set is perfectly sorted as I want. But when I modify it for a stored procedure it gives me a unsorted result and I don't have any clue why. Here is my Query, with items as ( select ROW_NUMBER() over (order by create_time desc) number , i.item_name item_name , i.create_time create_time , c.category_name category_name , i.category_id category_id from cb_item i, cb_category c where i.category_id = c.category_id and c.category_id = '4E5248FE-05DD-4D01-ABBB-80C6E3BA5CDA' ) select item_name , create_time , category_name , category_id from items where number between 1 and 25 And this is the Stored Procedure Version, create procedure ItemPage @category_id uniqueidentifier , @from int , @to int , @sortby nvarchar(50) as begin with items as ( select ROW_NUMBER() over (order by @sortby) number , i.item_name item_name , i.create_time create_time , c.category_name category_name , i.category_id category_id from cb_item i, cb_category c where i.category_id = c.category_id and c.category_id = @category_id ) select item_name , create_time , category_name , category_id from items where number between @from and @to end exec itempage '4E5248FE-05DD-4D01-ABBB-80C6E3BA5CDA' , 1, 25, 'create_time desc' The first one gives me sorted result but procedure gives me unsorted result.   • T-SQL - how to get around the order by restriction in CTEs

    Hi all I have the following CTE. Its purpose is to provide unique Month/Year pairs. Later code will use the CTE to produce a concatenated string list of the Month/Year pairs. ;WITH tblStoredWillsInPeriod AS ( SELECT DISTINCT Kctc.GetMonthAndYearString(DateWillReceived) Month FROM Kctc.StoredWills WHERE DateWillReceived BETWEEN '2010/01/01' AND '2010/03/31' ORDER BY DateWillReceived ) I have omitted the implmementation of the GetMonthAndYearString function as it is trivial. Sadly, it seems T-SQL is always one step ahead. When I run this code, it tells me I'm not allowed to use ORDER BY in a CTE unless I also use TOP (or FOR XML, whatever that is.) If I use TOP, it tells me I can't use it with DISTINCT. Yup, T-SQL has all the answers. Can anyone think of a solution to this problem which is quicker than simply slashing my wrists? I understand that death from blood loss can be surprisingly lingering, and I have deadlines to meet. Thanks for your help. David

  • SQL Server Multi-statement UDF - way to store data temporarily required

    Hello, I have a relatively complex query, with several self joins, which works on a rather large table. For that query to perform faster, I thus need to only work with a subset of the data. Said subset of data can range between 12 000 and 120 000 rows depending on the parameters passed. More details can be found here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3054843/sql-server-cte-referred-in-self-joins-slow As you can see, I was using a CTE to return the data subset before, which caused some performance problems as SQL Server was re-running the Select statement in the CTE for every join instead of simply being run once and reusing its data set. The alternative, using temporary tables worked much faster (while testing the query in a separate window outside the UDF body). However, when I tried to implement this in a multi-statement UDF, I was harshly reminded by SQL Server that multi-statement UDFs do not support temporary tables for some reason... UDFs do allow table variables however, so I tried that, but the performance is absolutely horrible as it takes 1m40 for my query to complete whereas the the CTE version only took 40minutes. I believe the table variables is slow for reasons listed in this thread: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1643687/table-variable-poor-performance-on-insert-in-sql-server-stored-procedure Temporary table version takes around 1 seconds, but I can't make it into a function due to the SQL Server restrictions, and I have to return a table back to the caller. Considering that CTE and table variables are both too slow, and that temporary tables are rejected in UDFs, What are my options in order for my UDF to perform quickly? Thanks a lot in advance.

  • Creating xaml 'template' for multiple pages

    Hey, I'm developing a Silverlight application for the first time. I've gone through some tutorials, but I can't seem to find anything that helps me with this particular problem. I would like a set of buttons to be present on all of my pages (like a template). When a button is pressed, I would like the ContentGrid to slide out and a new ContentGrid slide in (with the relevant .xaml file being loaded). Are there any tutorials showing the best way to do this? From samples I've seen, they only seem to transition between two pages, so copy-pasting the group of buttons on each xaml page isn't too much of a problem. However, with more pages, it would be inefficient to copy-paste the base layout each time. Thanks for any suggestions

    I have a usercontrol that I want to use as a ListBoxItem. <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <local:MyUserControl/> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> I'd like to play a storyboard when the usercontrol is unselected. <UserControl.Resources> <Style TargetType="{x:Type UserControl}"> <Style.Triggers> <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding IsSelected, RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType={x:Type ListBoxItem}, Mode=FindAncestor}}" Value="False"> <DataTrigger.EnterActions> <BeginStoryboard Storyboard="{StaticResource OnMouseLeaveSB}"/> </DataTrigger.EnterActions> </DataTrigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> </UserControl.Resources> But the storyboard is never firing. Is there a better way to do this? Edited to Add: What I am really trying to accomplish this this: When the mouse is over the UserControl, I want to play a storyboard (OnMouseEnterSB). When the mouse leaves the UserControl, I want to play another storyboard (OnMouseLeaveSB). I have all this working fine. When the UserControl is selected, however, and the mouse leaves, I do NOT want to play the storyboard. Finally, when the UserControl is unselected, I want to play the OnMouseLeaveSB storyboard.

  • I cant really wrap my head around BOOLEAN logic when I use NOT together with AND and OR

    Im trying to understand how boolean logic works when I use NOT. To give an example using awk I have a text file containing CORE PORT CORE PORT COREPORT CORE COREPORT And I would like to remove all COREPORT lines. The way I thought I would do it was with (NOT CORE) AND (NOT PORT) eg awk '/!CORE/&&/!PORT/{print}' But when I try it out Im actually supposed to use OR instead of AND awk '/!CORE/||/!PORT/{print}' I would be really glad if some one could explain where my thinking is wrong and super glad if it could be visualized with a venn diagram or something like the boolean machine at kathyschrock
