  • Acces internal host from a subdomain of an external dns

    - by Mihai
Hy to all this image contains the topology i want to make it work. I have a linux server that is used for hosting websites and also routing for our internal network. How can i acces the internal server that hosts the team foundation server from outside, from a domain like teamfoundation.example.com. The parent domain is hosted on the linux machine, is there anyway to NAT the dns queries to the windows server? |LINUX SERVER| example.com | | Windows Server(teamfoundation.example.com) _|___SWITCH Internal Network

  • NOOB Memory Problem - EXC_BAD_ACCESS

    - by Michael Bordelon
    I have been banging my head against the wall for a couple days and need some help. I have a feeling that I am doing something really silly here, but I cannot find the issue. This is the controller for a table view. I put the SQL in line to simplify it as part of the troubleshooting of this error. Normally, it would be in an accessor method in a model class. It gets through the SQL read just fine. Finds the two objects, loads them into the todaysWorkout array and then builds the cells for the table view. The table view actually comes up on the scree and then it throws the EXC_BAD_ACCESS. I ran instruments and it shows the following: 0 CFString Malloc 1 00:03.765 0x3946470 176 Foundation -[NSPlaceholderString initWithFormat:locale:arguments:] 1 CFString Autorelease 00:03.765 0x3946470 0 Foundation NSRecordAllocationEvent 2 CFString CFRelease 0 00:03.767 0x3946470 0 Bring It -[WorkoutViewController viewDidLoad] 3 CFString Zombie -1 00:03.917 0x3946470 0 Foundation NSPopAutoreleasePool Here is the source code for the controller. I left it all in there just in case there is something extraneous causing the problem. I sincerely appreciate any help I can get: #import "WorkoutViewController.h" #import "MoveListViewController.h" #import "Profile.h" static sqlite3 *database = nil; @implementation WorkoutViewController @synthesize todaysWorkouts; @synthesize woNoteCell; @synthesize bi; //@synthesize woSwitchCell; - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; bi = [[BIUtility alloc] init]; todaysWorkouts = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; NSString *query; sqlite3_stmt *statement; //open the database if (sqlite3_open([[BIUtility getDBPath] UTF8String], &database) != SQLITE_OK) { sqlite3_close(database); NSAssert(0, @"Failed to opendatabase"); } query = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"SELECT IWORKOUT.WOINSTANCEID, IWORKOUT.WORKOUTID, CWORKOUTS.WORKOUTNAME FROM CWORKOUTS JOIN IWORKOUT ON IWORKOUT.WORKOUTID = CWORKOUTS.WORKOUTID AND DATE = '%@'", [BIUtility todayDateString]]; if (sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, [query UTF8String], -1, &statement, nil) == SQLITE_OK) { while (sqlite3_step(statement) == SQLITE_ROW) { Workout *wo = [[Workout alloc] init]; wo.woInstanceID = sqlite3_column_int(statement, 0); wo.workoutID = sqlite3_column_int(statement, 1); wo.workoutName = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(statement, 2)]; [todaysWorkouts addObject:wo]; [wo release]; } sqlite3_finalize(statement); } if(database) sqlite3_close(database); [query release]; } - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { //todaysWorkouts = [BIUtility todaysScheduledWorkouts]; static NSString *noteCellIdentifier = @"NoteCellIdentifier"; UITableViewCell *cell; if (indexPath.section < ([todaysWorkouts count])) { cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:@"OtherCell"]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero reuseIdentifier: @"OtherCell"] autorelease]; cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone; } if (indexPath.row == 0) { Workout *wo = [todaysWorkouts objectAtIndex:indexPath.section]; [cell.textLabel setText:wo.workoutName]; } else { [cell.textLabel setText:@"Completed?"]; [cell.textLabel setFont:[UIFont fontWithName:@"Arial" size:15]]; [cell.textLabel setTextColor:[UIColor blueColor]]; } } else { cell = (NoteCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:noteCellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { NSArray *nib = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"NoteCell" owner:self options:nil]; cell = [nib objectAtIndex:0]; } } return cell; //[cell release]; } - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSUInteger row = [indexPath row]; if (indexPath.section < ([todaysWorkouts count]) && (row == 0)) { MoveListViewController *moveListController = [[MoveListViewController alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewStylePlain]; moveListController.workoutID = [[todaysWorkouts objectAtIndex:indexPath.section] workoutID]; moveListController.workoutName = [[todaysWorkouts objectAtIndex:indexPath.section] workoutName]; moveListController.woInstanceID = [[todaysWorkouts objectAtIndex:indexPath.section] woInstanceID]; NSLog(@"Workout Selected: %@", [[todaysWorkouts objectAtIndex:indexPath.section] workoutName]); Bring_ItAppDelegate *delegate = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; [delegate.workoutNavController pushViewController:moveListController animated:YES]; } else { UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath]; if (indexPath.section < ([todaysWorkouts count]) && (row == 1)) { if (cell.accessoryType == UITableViewCellAccessoryNone) { cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark; } else { cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone; } } } [tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES]; } - (CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSInteger h = 35; return h; } - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return ([todaysWorkouts count] + 1); //return ([todaysWorkouts count]); } - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { if (section < ([todaysWorkouts count])) { return 2; } else { return 1; } } - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section { if (section < ([todaysWorkouts count])) { return @"Workout"; } else { return @"How Was Your Workout?"; } } - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { // Releases the view if it doesn't have a superview.   • Monotouch UITableView image "flashing" while background requests are fetched

    - by Themos Piperakis
I am in need of some help from you guys. I have a Monotouch UITableView which contains some web images. I have implemented a Task to fetch them asynchronously so the UI is responsive, an even added some animations to fade them in when they are fetched from the web. My problems start when the user scrolls down very fast down the UITableView, so since the cells are resusable, several background tasks are queued for images. When he is at the bottom of the list, he might see the thumbnail displaying an image for another cell, then another, then another, then another, as the tasks are completed and each image replaces the other one. I am in need of some sort of checking whether the currently displayed cell corresponds to the correct image url, but not sure how to do that. Here is the code for my TableSource class. using System; using MonoTouch.UIKit; using MonoTouch.Foundation; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Threading; using System.Threading.Tasks; using System.Diagnostics; { public class ListDelegate:UITableViewDelegate { private UINavigationController nav; public override float GetHeightForRow (UITableView tableView, NSIndexPath indexPath) { return 128; } public override void RowSelected (UITableView tableView, NSIndexPath indexPath) { DealViewController c = new DealViewController(((ListDataSource)tableView.DataSource).deals[indexPath.Row].Id,nav); nav.PushViewController(c,true); tableView.DeselectRow(indexPath, true); } public ListDelegate(UINavigationController nav) { this.nav = nav; } } public class ListDataSource:UITableViewDataSource { bool toggle=true; Dictionary<string,UIImage> images = new Dictionary<string, UIImage>(); public List<MyDeal> deals = new List<MyDeal>(); Dictionary<int,ListCellViewController> controllers = new Dictionary<int, ListCellViewController>(); public ListDataSource(List<MyDeal> deals) { this.deals = deals; } public override int RowsInSection (UITableView tableview, int section) { return deals.Count; } public override UITableViewCell GetCell (UITableView tableView, MonoTouch.Foundation.NSIndexPath indexPath) { UITableViewCell cell = tableView.DequeueReusableCell("cell"); ListCellViewController cellController = null; if (cell == null || !controllers.ContainsKey(cell.Tag)) { cellController = new ListCellViewController(); NSBundle.MainBundle.LoadNib("ListCellViewController", cellController, null); cell = cellController.Cell; cell.Tag = Environment.TickCount; controllers.Add(cell.Tag, cellController); } else { cellController = controllers[cell.Tag]; } if (toggle) { cell.BackgroundView = new UIImageView(UIImage.FromFile("images/bg1.jpg")); } else { cell.BackgroundView = new UIImageView(UIImage.FromFile("images/bg2.jpg")); } toggle = !toggle; MyDeal d = deals[indexPath.Row]; cellController.SetValues(d.Title,d.Price,d.Value,d.DiscountPercent); GetImage(cellController.Thumbnail,d.Thumbnail); return cell; } private void GetImage(UIImageView img, string url) { img.Alpha = 0; if (url != string.Empty) { if (images.ContainsKey(url)) { img.Image = images[url]; img.Alpha = 1; } else { var context = TaskScheduler.FromCurrentSynchronizationContext (); Task.Factory.StartNew (() => { NSData imageData = NSData.FromUrl(new NSUrl(url)); var uimg = UIImage.LoadFromData(imageData); images.Add(url, uimg); return uimg; }).ContinueWith (t => { InvokeOnMainThread(()=>{ img.Image = t.Result; RefreshImage(img); }); }, context); } } } private void RefreshImage(UIImageView img) { UIView.BeginAnimations("imageThumbnailTransitionIn"); UIView.SetAnimationDuration(0.5f); img.Alpha = 1.0f; UIView.CommitAnimations(); } } } Here is the ListCellViewController, that contains a custom cell using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using MonoTouch.Foundation; using MonoTouch.UIKit; { public partial class ListCellViewController : UIViewController { #region Constructors // The IntPtr and initWithCoder constructors are required for items that need // to be able to be created from a xib rather than from managed code public ListCellViewController (IntPtr handle) : base(handle) { Initialize (); } [Export("initWithCoder:")] public ListCellViewController (NSCoder coder) : base(coder) { Initialize (); } public ListCellViewController () : base("ListCellViewController", null) { Initialize (); } void Initialize () { } public UIImageView Thumbnail { get{return thumbnailView;} } public UITableViewCell Cell { get {return cell;} } public void SetValues(string title, decimal price, decimal valuex, decimal discount, int purchases) { } #endregion } } All help is greatly appreciated

  • Windows Server 2008 R2: User account set to not show on login

    - by josecortesp
Hello There, this is my first Serverfault Question: I found myself this afternoon Setting up a Win Server 2008 R2 system for use with Team foundation source code control, and in order to give team-mates right to connect, i had to create user account for each of them (10 persons) (I can't and I don't want to create a domain). The point is that, after that, all that user accounts are showing in the login screen. Can i set those accounts to not show there? How? Thanks in advance

  • XML over HTTP with JMS and Spring

    - by Will Sumekar
I have a legacy HTTP server where I need to send an XML file over HTTP request (POST) using Java (not browser) and the server will respond with another XML in its HTTP response. It is similar to Web Service but there's no WSDL and I have to follow the existing XML structure to construct my XML to be sent. I have done a research and found an example that matches my requirement here. The example uses HttpClient from Apache Commons. (There are also other examples I found but they use java.net networking package (like URLConnection) which is tedious so I don't want to use them). But it's also my requirement to use Spring and JMS. I know from Spring's reference that it's possible to combine HttpClient, JMS and Spring. My question is, how? Note that it's NOT in my requirement to use HttpClient. If you have a better suggestion, I'm welcome. Appreciate it. For your reference, here's the XML-over-HTTP example I've been talking about: /* * $Header: * $Revision$ * $Date$ * ==================================================================== * * Copyright 2002-2004 The Apache Software Foundation * * Licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0 (the "License"); * you may not use this file except in compliance with the License. * You may obtain a copy of the License at * * http://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0 * * Unless required by applicable law or agreed to in writing, software * distributed under the License is distributed on an "AS IS" BASIS, * WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, either express or implied. * See the License for the specific language governing permissions and * limitations under the License. * ==================================================================== * * This software consists of voluntary contributions made by many * individuals on behalf of the Apache Software Foundation. • Collecting and viewing statistical data on website usage? Want to give Google Analytics the boot.

    - by amn
I have always been somewhat reluctant to "outsource" site statistics to Google. We have an Apache server running on a Windows server. I am pretty sure all the foundation to collect the needed visitor data are there. I would like to stop using GA, and use some form of application where the data does not travel to a third party but remains at the host, or at least travels to the remote administrator, if it is a log analyzer in a browser. What are my options?

  • MEF CompositionInitializer for WPF

    - by Reed
The Managed Extensibility Framework is an amazingly useful addition to the .NET Framework.  I was very excited to see System.ComponentModel.Composition added to the core framework.  Personally, I feel that MEF is one tool I’ve always been missing in my .NET development. Unfortunately, one perfect scenario for MEF tends to fall short of it’s full potential is in Windows Presentation Foundation development.  In particular, there are many times when the XAML parser constructs objects in WPF development, which makes composition of those parts difficult.  The current release of MEF (Preview Release 9) addresses this for Silverlight developers via System.ComponentModel.Composition.CompositionInitializer.  However, there is no equivalent class for WPF developers. The CompositionInitializer class provides the means for an object to compose itself.  This is very useful with WPF and Silverlight development, since it allows a View, such as a UserControl, to be generated via the standard XAML parser, and still automatically pull in the appropriate ViewModel in an extensible manner.  Glenn Block has demonstrated the usage for Silverlight in detail, but the same issues apply in WPF. As an example, let’s take a look at a very simple case.  Take the following XAML for a Window: <Window x:Class="WpfApplication1.MainView" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="MainWindow" Height="220" Width="300"> <Grid> <TextBlock Text="{Binding TheText}" /> </Grid> </Window> This does nothing but create a Window, add a simple TextBlock control, and use it to display the value of our “TheText” property in our DataContext class.  Since this is our main window, WPF will automatically construct and display this Window, so we need to handle constructing the DataContext and setting it ourselves. We could do this in code or in XAML, but in order to do it directly, we would need to hard code the ViewModel type directly into our XAML code, or we would need to construct the ViewModel class and set it in the code behind.  Both have disadvantages, and the disadvantages grow if we’re using MEF to compose our ViewModel. Ideally, we’d like to be able to have MEF construct our ViewModel for us.  This way, it can provide any construction requirements for our ViewModel via [ImportingConstructor], and it can handle fully composing the imported properties on our ViewModel.  CompositionInitializer allows this to occur. We use CompositionInitializer within our View’s constructor, and use it for self-composition of our View.  Using CompositionInitializer, we can modify our code behind to: public partial class MainView : Window { public MainView() { InitializeComponent(); CompositionInitializer.SatisfyImports(this); } [Import("MainViewModel")] public object ViewModel { get { return this.DataContext; } set { this.DataContext = value; } } } We then can add an Export on our ViewModel class like so: [Export("MainViewModel")] public class MainViewModel { public string TheText { get { return "Hello World!"; } } } MEF will automatically compose our application, decoupling our ViewModel injection to the DataContext of our View until runtime.  When we run this, we’ll see: There are many other approaches for using MEF to wire up the extensible parts within your application, of course.  However, any time an object is going to be constructed by code outside of your control, CompositionInitializer allows us to continue to use MEF to satisfy the import requirements of that object. In order to use this from WPF, I’ve ported the code from MEF Preview 9 and Glenn Block’s (now obsolete) PartInitializer port to Windows Presentation Foundation.  There are some subtle changes from the Silverlight port, mainly to handle running in a desktop application context.  The default behavior of my port is to construct an AggregateCatalog containing a DirectoryCatalog set to the location of the entry assembly of the application.  In addition, if an “Extensions” folder exists under the entry assembly’s directory, a second DirectoryCatalog for that folder will be included.  This behavior can be overridden by specifying a CompositionContainer or one or more ComposablePartCatalogs to the System.ComponentModel.Composition.Hosting.CompositionHost static class prior to the first use of CompositionInitializer. Please download CompositionInitializer and CompositionHost for VS 2010 RC, and contact me with any feedback. Composition.Initialization.Desktop.zip Edit on 3/29: Glenn Block has since updated his version of CompositionInitializer (and ExportFactory<T>!), and made it available here: http://cid-f8b2fd72406fb218.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/blog/Composition.Initialization.Desktop.zip This is a .NET 3.5 solution, and should soon be pushed to CodePlex, and made available on the main MEF site.

  • TFS 2008 Web Access Report 100 record limitation

    - by HosamKamel
By default TFS 2008 Web Access has the limit of 100 record when you open any query in report mode. Even if you tried to export the query to excel or PDF you will only get first 100 record exported. To overcome this issue, you have to reconfigure this count in the web.config file Navigate to web access files C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Team System Web Access\Wiwa Open web.config modify maxWorkitemsInReportList count to whatever count you need. You need to do modify the same configuration in web.config located here C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Team System Web Access\Web  A full discussion thread exists here Team Foundation Server - Team System Web Access

  • How are Apache HTTP Server and Apache Tomcat related? (If at all)

    - by JW01
I currently have Apache httpd running on a production Ubuntu VPS server. I write php scripts. I'm interested in learning Java and I was wondering how I would go about writing some server-side Java to work on my current set-up. How are Apache Tomcat and Apache HTTP Server related to each other? Can Tomcat be a module of httpd? Or are they simply just two very different projects that happen to be steered by the same organisation (Apache Software Foundation)?

  • SQL SERVER – Beginning of SQL Server Architecture – Terminology – Guest Post

    - by pinaldave
SQL Server Architecture is a very deep subject. Covering it in a single post is an almost impossible task. However, this subject is very popular topic among beginners and advanced users.  I have requested my friend Anil Kumar who is expert in SQL Domain to help me write  a simple post about Beginning SQL Server Architecture. As stated earlier this subject is very deep subject and in this first article series he has covered basic terminologies. In future article he will explore the subject further down. Anil Kumar Yadav is Trainer, SQL Domain, Koenig Solutions. Koenig is a premier IT training firm that provides several IT certifications, such as Oracle 11g, Server+, RHCA, SQL Server Training, Prince2 Foundation etc. In this Article we will discuss about MS SQL Server architecture. The major components of SQL Server are: Relational Engine Storage Engine SQL OS Now we will discuss and understand each one of them. 1) Relational Engine: Also called as the query processor, Relational Engine includes the components of SQL Server that determine what your query exactly needs to do and the best way to do it. It manages the execution of queries as it requests data from the storage engine and processes the results returned. Different Tasks of Relational Engine: Query Processing Memory Management Thread and Task Management Buffer Management Distributed Query Processing 2) Storage Engine: Storage Engine is responsible for storage and retrieval of the data on to the storage system (Disk, SAN etc.). to understand more, let’s focus on the following diagram. When we talk about any database in SQL server, there are 2 types of files that are created at the disk level – Data file and Log file. Data file physically stores the data in data pages. Log files that are also known as write ahead logs, are used for storing transactions performed on the database. Let’s understand data file and log file in more details: Data File: Data File stores data in the form of Data Page (8KB) and these data pages are logically organized in extents. Extents: Extents are logical units in the database. They are a combination of 8 data pages i.e. 64 KB forms an extent. Extents can be of two types, Mixed and Uniform. Mixed extents hold different types of pages like index, System, Object data etc. On the other hand, Uniform extents are dedicated to only one type. Pages: As we should know what type of data pages can be stored in SQL Server, below mentioned are some of them: Data Page: It holds the data entered by the user but not the data which is of type text, ntext, nvarchar(max), varchar(max), varbinary(max), image and xml data. Index: It stores the index entries. Text/Image: It stores LOB ( Large Object data) like text, ntext, varchar(max), nvarchar(max),  varbinary(max), image and xml data. GAM & SGAM (Global Allocation Map & Shared Global Allocation Map): They are used for saving information related to the allocation of extents. PFS (Page Free Space): Information related to page allocation and unused space available on pages. IAM (Index Allocation Map): Information pertaining to extents that are used by a table or index per allocation unit. BCM (Bulk Changed Map): Keeps information about the extents changed in a Bulk Operation. DCM (Differential Change Map): This is the information of extents that have modified since the last BACKUP DATABASE statement as per allocation unit. Log File: It also known as write ahead log. It stores modification to the database (DML and DDL). Sufficient information is logged to be able to: Roll back transactions if requested Recover the database in case of failure Write Ahead Logging is used to create log entries Transaction logs are written in chronological order in a circular way Truncation policy for logs is based on the recovery model SQL OS: This lies between the host machine (Windows OS) and SQL Server. All the activities performed on database engine are taken care of by SQL OS. It is a highly configurable operating system with powerful API (application programming interface), enabling automatic locality and advanced parallelism. SQL OS provides various operating system services, such as memory management deals with buffer pool, log buffer and deadlock detection using the blocking and locking structure. Other services include exception handling, hosting for external components like Common Language Runtime, CLR etc. I guess this brief article gives you an idea about the various terminologies used related to SQL Server Architecture. In future articles we will explore them further. Guest Author  The author of the article is Anil Kumar Yadav is Trainer, SQL Domain, Koenig Solutions. • Programmatically use a server as the Build Server for multiple Project Collections

Important: With this post you create an unsupported scenario by Microsoft. It will break your support for this server with Microsoft. So handle with care. I am the administrator an a TFS environment with a lot of Project Collections. In the supported configuration of Microsoft 2010 you need one Build Controller per Project Collection, and it is not supported to have multiple Build Controllers installed. Jim Lamb created a post how you can modify your system to change this behaviour. But since I have so many Project Collections, I automated this with the API of TFS. When you install a new build server via the UI, you do the following steps Register the build service (with this you hook the windows server into the build server environment) Add a new build controller Add a new build agent So in pseudo code, the code would look like foreach (projectCollection in GetAllProjectCollections) {       CreateNewWindowsService();       RegisterService();       AddNewController();       AddNewAgent(); } The following code fragements show you the most important parts of the method implementations. Attached is the full project. CreateNewWindowsService We create a new windows service with the SC command via the Diagnostics.Process class:             var pi = new ProcessStartInfo("sc.exe")                         {                             Arguments =                                 string.Format(                                     "create \"{0}\" start= auto binpath= \"C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Team Foundation Server 2010\\Tools\\TfsBuildServiceHost.exe              /NamedInstance:{0}\" DisplayName= \"Visual Studio Team Foundation Build Service Host ({1})\"",                                     serviceHostName, tpcName)                         };            Process.Start(pi);             pi.Arguments = string.Format("failure {0} reset= 86400 actions= restart/60000", serviceHostName);            Process.Start(pi); RegisterService The trick in this method is that we set the NamedInstance static property. This property is Internal, so we need to set it through reflection. To get information on these you need nice Microsoft friends and the .Net reflector .             // Indicate which build service host instance we are using            typeof(BuildServiceHostUtilities).Assembly.GetType("Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Build.Config.BuildServiceHostProcess").InvokeMember("NamedInstance",              System.Reflection.BindingFlags.NonPublic | System.Reflection.BindingFlags.SetProperty | System.Reflection.BindingFlags.Static, null, null, new object[] { serviceName });             // Create the build service host            serviceHost = buildServer.CreateBuildServiceHost(serviceName, endPoint);            serviceHost.Save();             // Register the build service host            BuildServiceHostUtilities.Register(serviceHost, user, password); AddNewController and AddNewAgent Once you have the BuildServerHost, the rest is pretty straightforward. There are methods on the BuildServerHost to modify the controllers and the agents                 controller = serviceHost.CreateBuildController(controllerName);                 agent = controller.ServiceHost.CreateBuildAgent(agentName, buildDirectory, controller);                controller.AddBuildAgent(agent); You have now seen the highlights of the application. If you need it and want to have sample information when you work in this area, download the app TFS2010_RegisterBuildServerToTPCs

  • TFS 2010 and the missing Area & Iterations (stale data) Issue

    - by andresv
The symptom is this: you change some area or iteration in a TFS Project, but the change is not reflected (or updated) in VS or any other TFS Client. Well, it happens that TFS now has some clever caching mechanisms that need to be updated when you make a change like this, and those changes are propagated by some scheduled jobs TFS is continuously running in the Application Tier.  So, you you get this behavior, please check (and possibly restart) the "Visual Studio Team Foundation Background Job Agent" service. In my case, this service was logging a very odd "Object Reference Not Set" into the Windows Event Log, and a simple restart fixed it. Hope this is fixed by RTM...   (we are using the RC version). And by the way, if the job agent is broken there are some other things that stops working like email notifications. Best regards, Andrés G Vettori, CTO, VMBC

  • DIY Grid-It Clone Organizes Your Tech Gear in Style

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
If you’re looking for a customizable way to organize your cables and small electronics, this DIY Grid-It clone uses a series of elastic straps to hold everything in place. Grid-It is a commercial cable and device organizer that is, essentially, a stiff insert for your briefcase or bag that is wrapped in inter-woven elastic straps. You lift and slide the straps the secure your items in place creating, on the fly, customized organization for your cables and small devices. This DIY project recreations the Grid-It system using an old hard cover book as the foundation for the straps–it doubles the amount of usable space, provides a stiff cover, and (if you select a striking book) looks striking at the same time. • Accessing Server-Side Data from Client Script: Using WCF Services with jQuery and the ASP.NET Ajax Library

Today's websites commonly exchange information between the browser and the web server using Ajax techniques - the browser executes JavaScript code typically in response to the page loading or some user action. This JavaScript makes an asynchronous HTTP request to the server. which then processes the request and, perhaps, returns data that the browser can then seamlessly integrate into the web page. Two earlier articles - Accessing JSON Data From an ASP.NET Page Using jQuery and Using Ajax Web Services, Script References, and jQuery, looked at using both jQuery and the ASP.NET Ajax Library on the browser to initiate an Ajax request and both ASP.NET pages and Ajax Web Services as the entities on the web server responsible for servicing such Ajax requests. This article continues our examination of techniques for implementing lightweight Ajax scenarios in an ASP.NET website. Specifically, it examines how to use the Windows Communication Foundation, or WCF, to serve data from the web server and how to use both the ASP.NET Ajax Library and jQuery to consume such services from the client-side.
