  • Samba4/Ubuntu Shares Incorrectly Available to All Users

    I've got my Ubuntu server working with Samba4 and got it set up as the Primary domain controller on my network with AD and all that goodness. However, I'm trying to get my Samba configuration to work with the users and groups I've defined with the Active Directory tools from Windows. For instance, I've got a share X which I want users A and B (as part of the 'management' group, known as LLGrpManager in my setup) to see, but no body else. However, after making changes to the configuration, restarting Samba, I test by connecting to the share with my Mac over Samba as user 'C' which isn't part of the management group, and I can, incorrectly, see the X share. I've tried alsorts of combinations of specifying the group with no luck at all. I've got a feeling that my global config might be too lenient or something to do with file permissions but being a bit green, I'm without clue.   • Active Directory server down, recovering without reinstalling

    My Windows 2003 server suddenly ceased to function as a DC (this server is the only DC of the domain). All AD related services are down. The only way I can login to the AD is physically to the machine. Everytime I access an AD-related service (e.g. "AD users and computers") I get the below error: Naming information cannot be located because: The specified directory service attribute or value does not exist. Contact your system administrator to verify that your domain is properly configured and is currently online. I found the below system event which matches the time when the issue started, this re-occurs everytime I reboot the server. NTDS General | Global Catalog | Active Directory was unable to establish a connection with the global catalog. Additional Data Error value: 1355 The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted. Internal ID: 3200d33 I started the troubleshooting with DNS. Netdiag throws the below error although I think this is simply a consequence of not being able to access the Global Catalog. The procedure entry point DnsGetPrimaryDomainName_UTF8 could not be located in the dynamic link library DNSAPI.dll. Anyway DNS seems OK because I can ping the DC FQDN from the DC itself. I found the below solution which is supposed to help by doing some cleanup of the metadata: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/216498 If I follow procedure 1 here is what I get at step 9: no current site Domain - DC=<mydomain>,DC=<com> no current server no current naming context I can continue the procedure until step 14. I haven't tested step 15 as my understanding is that I will have to reinstall the whole AD again. Is there any way I can recover my AD from there without having to reinstall the whole thing? Update: Yes, the server was powered off/on because reboot would take forever (not because I thought power cycling the unit would fix it more than a reboot).

  • Mysql Replication out of sync? What commands do I run to sync it back up?

    I have a master-master replication system. However, due to an auto-increment issue, I got an error in replication...and it stopped replicating. Someone told me to do: stop slave; SET GLOBAL SQL_SLAVE_SKIP_COUNTER = 1; start slave; It didn't work. Then they told me to do: SET GLOBAL SQL_SLAVE_SKIP_COUNTER = 2; It didn't work. Then to test it out, I did: SET GLOBAL SQL_SLAVE_SKIP_COUNTER = 99999; It starts, but it is not updating. I created a table on DB1...and it is not showing up on DB2... But in debug mode(app runs from VS) I don`t want that exceptions go to this global handler. Better for me is when VS stops app on place when exception occurs.     I'm trying to connect to a mysql server at dreamhost from a php scrip located in a server at slicehost (two different hosting companies). I need to do this so I can transfer new data at slicehost to dreamhost. Using a dump is not an option because the table structures are different and i only need to transfer a small subset of data (100-200 daily records) The problem is that I'm using the new MySQL Password Hashing method at slicehost, and dreamhost uses the old one, So i get $link = mysql_connect($mysqlHost, $mysqlUser, $mysqlPass, FALSE); Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: OK packet 6 bytes shorter than expected Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: mysqlnd cannot connect to MySQL 4.1+ using old authentication Warning: mysql_query() [function.mysql-query]: Access denied for user 'nodari'@'localhost' (using password: NO) facts: I need to continue using the new method at slicehost and i can't use an older php version/library The database is too big to transfer it every day with a dump Even if i did this, the tables have different structures I need to copy only a small subset of it, in a daily basis (only the changes of the day, 100-200 records) Since the tables are so different, i need to use php as a bridge to normalize the data Already googled it Already talked to both support stafs The more obvious option to me would be to start using the new MySQL Password Hashing method at dreamhost, but they will not change it and i'm not root so i can't do this myself. The guy at dreamhost support insist saying thet the problem is at my end. But he said he will run any query I tell him since it's a private server. So, I need to tell this guy EXACTLY what to run. So, telling him to run SET SESSION old_passwords=0; SET GLOBAL old_passwords=0; SET PASSWORD FOR 'nodari'@'HOSTNAME' = PASSWORD('new password'); grant all privileges on *.* to nodari@HOSTNAME identified by 'new password'; would be a good start?

  • How do you save compare options in Visual Studio 2010 > SQL 2012 Database Project

    Been using the new SQL 2012 Data Tools SQL Server Database Project in VS 2010. Every time we do a schema compare we have to set the options for the current compare. This does not seem to be tied back to the global compare options you can set in Tools Options. Does anybody know where to set the 'new' global compare options. NOTE: This is the new SQL 2012 compare from Data Tools, and not the old 2005/2008 compare that comes standard with Studio 2010.

  • Selecting one row when working with typed datasets.

    I have a typed dataset in my project. I would like to populate a datatable with only one row instead of all rows. The selected row must be based on the primary key column. I know I could modify the designer code to achive this functionality however if I change the code in the designer I risk that this code will be deleted when I update my datased via designer in the future. So I wanted to alter the SelectCommand not in the designer but just before firing up MyTypedTableAdapter.Fill method. The strange thing is that the designer does not create a SelectCommand! It creates all other commands but not this one. If it would create SelectCommand I could alter it in this way: this.operatorzyTableAdapter.Adapter.SelectCommand.CommandText += " WHERE MyColumn = 1"; It is far from perfection but atleast I would not have to modify the designer's work. unfortunately as I said earlier the SelectCommand is not created. Instead designer creates something like this: [global::System.Diagnostics.DebuggerNonUserCodeAttribute()] private void InitCommandCollection() { this._commandCollection = new global::System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand[1]; this._commandCollection[0] = new global::System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand(); this._commandCollection[0].Connection = this.Connection; this._commandCollection[0].CommandText = "SELECT Ope_OpeID, Ope_Kod, Ope_Haslo, Ope_Imie, Ope_Nazwisko FROM dbo.Operatorzy"; this._commandCollection[0].CommandType = global::System.Data.CommandType.Text; } It doesn't make sense in my opinion. Why to create UpdateCommand, InsertCommand and DeleteCommand but do not create SelectCommand? I could bear with this but this._commandCollection is private so I cannot acces it outside of the class code. I don't know how to get into this collection without changing the designer's code. The idea which I have is to expose the collection via partial class definition. However I want to introduce many typed datasets and I really don't want to create partial class definition for each of them. Please note that I am using .NET 3.5. I've found this article about accessing private properties but it concerns .NET 4.0 Thanks for your time.

  • OK to throw an error for a missing required querystring parameter?

    Is there anything wrong with having an asp.net page throw a (custom error) if a a required querystring parameter is missing and having global.asax catch it with Application_Error, then transfer the user to an error page? I have several base classes that perform these checks and I am not sure of the best way to communicate the error to a user. So, something like this: int reqParam; if(!isParamSet("myReqParam", out reqParam)) { throw new QuerystringParamMissingException(); } which is then caught by Application_Error in global.asax.

    Just one simple, specific question: I've got the string {var1}12345{var2}, and I want to get the variable names used. if (preg_match("/{([a-zA-Z0-9]*)}/g", $url, $matches)) { print_r($matches); } If I remove the global flag, it works, but I only get the first variable, as expected. Why isn't it working with a global flag? It works when I'm testing it with the Regex Tester

    In asp.net global.asax, where should i write code to assign role in httpcontext.user? What i have read in site is that it should be part of "Application_onPostauthentication" event of global.asax but i am not getting that if i write there then it is execute for each request of user. I think this should fetch one for one authentication at session. I don't know even why microsoft also suggest to write code there? Please if anybody know the fact make me clear?

  • Why is it that I can include a header file in multiple cpp files that contains const int and not have a compiler error?

    Let's assume that I have files a.cpp b.cpp and file c.h. Both of the cpp files include the c.h file. The header file contains a bunch of const int definitions and when I compile them I get no errors and yet I can access those const as if they were global variables. So the question, why don't I get any compilation errors if I have multiple const definitions as well as these const int's having global-like scope?
