  • Compressing ASPX pageview in code or compress HTTP in IIS?

    In the past, with pages with large viewstate I have overridden the PageStatePersister class so when the state is saved I compress it. On Load I decompress it. I have haven't really thought about it, but could IIS handle something like this better? The reason I did this was to keep my pages slimmer because I have a lot of custom controls on the page and the viewstate was huge.     I've set up the Android SDK and Eclipse on my machine running Windows XP and AVDs (Android Virtual Devices) are saved to "Documents and Settings\user\.android" by default. Is there any way to change this behavior? I have all of the other components saved in a directory on a separate partition and would like everything to be consolidated. Obviously not a huge deal but does anyone here know a workaround for this?

    I need to share a huge dictionary (around 1 gb in size) between multiple processs, however since all processes will always read from it. I dont need locking. Is there any way to share a dictionary without locking? The multiprocessing module in python provides an Array class which allows sharing without locking by setting lock=false however There is no such option for Dictionary provided by manager in multiprocessing module.

    I have a huge table that is mainly used for backup and administrative purposes. The only records that matters is the last inserted record. On every hit to order by time inserted is just too slow. I want keep a separate table with the last inserted id. In PHP I now insert, get last inserted id, and update the other table. Is there a more efficient way to do this.

    Hi We are currently using DataSet for loading and saving our data to an xml file using Dataset and there is a good possibility that the size of the xml file could get very huge.   • Responsive width for iPhone

    This is my first time building a responsive site, and as I tailor the CSS for the iPhone I'm running into a problem. The styles all apply correctly, the text changes size and the wrapper changes widths. The problem is the iPhone browser still opens up at a huge width, see the screenshot: I'm using @media all and (max-device-width: 480px) {} to set the specific iPhone css. body {width:;} doesn't work.     Hi, I'm trying to learn java from bottom up, and I got this great book to read http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/0071591060/ca0cc-20 . Now I found example in the book about declaring Enums inside a class but outside any methods so I gave it a shot : Enum CoffeeSize { BIG, HUGE, OVERWHELMING }; In the book its spelled enum and I get this compile message Syntax error, insert ";" to complete BlockStatements Are the Enums that important at all?I mean should I skip it or its possible that I will be using those some day?

    Anytime I use 'script table as' - 'Insert To' (or other command), the script generated automatically places the database name in the script. Such as: INSERT INTO [DatabaseName].[dbo].[tblToBeInserted] ... While not a huge problem to just delete it, it has slipped by a few times and the script breaks if run on a different server with a different database name but has the same schema. (Such as running on [DatabaseName.Test]) Is there an option I can change, or can I modify the output in any way to remove this?

    Every hacker I know uses terminal emacs. Graphical emacs is hideous. The default text is huge and out of place, and the borders are much bigger and blockier than in any other application. Everything I've read about switching the font is confusing and completely different than the font selection used by other applications (I'm on Ubuntu). Does anyone actually use graphical emacs (vs -nw)? If so, how do you make it bearable?
