  • How to use @PersistentCapable annotation in Scala 2.8

    - by Gero
Hi, I'm switching from Scala 2.7.7 to Scala 2.8.0RC3 and now a few of my classes don't compile anymore. The problem is in the @PersistentCapable annotation: import javax.jdo.annotations._ import java.util.Date @PersistenceCapable{identityType=IdentityType.APPLICATION} class Counter(dt: Date, cName: String, vl: int) { <.. snip ..> } This code results in the following compilation errors: [ERROR] /Users/gero/prive/kiva/kivanotify-gae/src/main/scala/net/vermaas/kivanotify/model/LoanProcessed.scala:7: error: expected start of definition [INFO] @PersistenceCapable{val identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION} I already tried a couple of variations, did some Googling but without luck. Any ideas on how I can use the @PersistentCapable annotation with Scala 2.8.0 RC3? Thanks, Gero

  • InvalidAttributeValueException when using non-ascii characters in JNDI

    - by matdan
Hi, I have some trouble using JNDI since it accepts only 7-bits encoded parameters. I am trying to change an LDAP entry using JNDI with the following code : Attribute newattr = new BasicAttribute("userpassword", password); ModificationItem[] mods = new ModificationItem[1]; mods[0] = new ModificationItem(DirContext.REPLACE_ATTRIBUTE, newattr); context.modifyAttributes("uid=anID,ou=People,o=MyOrganisation,c=com", mods); If my password contains only ascii characters, it works perfectly, but if I use a non-ascii character, like "à", I have this error message : javax.naming.directory.InvalidAttributeValueException: [LDAP: error code 19 - The value is not 7-bit clean: à]; My ldap supports those characters so I guess it comes from JNDI. Does anyone know how to fix that? Am I supposed to convert my parameter? How can I do that easily? Thanks

  • Can obfuscation (proguard) lead to MIDlet malfunction?

    - by eMgz
Hi, Im trying to obfuscate a Java MIDlet with proguard. It runs ok on the PC, however, when I run it on the phone, the program opens, connects to the server, and then freezes. If I disable obfuscation, it runs ok again on the phone. Ive tryed all the obfuscation levels for apps (7, 8 and 9 at NetBeans), and none of them seems to work properly, and I cant release this app for comercial use without obfuscation. Also, the compiler throws some warnings: Note: duplicate definition of library class [java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream] Note: there were 14 duplicate class definitions. But I dont know if this is realy the problem. Does anyone knows what is wrong? The obfuscator arguments are listed below: Obfuscator Arguments (7): -dontusemixedcaseclassnames -default package '' -keep public class ** { public *; } Obfuscator Arguments (8): same as (7) plus -overloadaggressively. Obfuscator Arguments (9): same as (8) but -keep public class ** extends javax.microedition.midlet.MIDlet { public *; } instead. Thanks.

  • Invoke webservice using jaxws when the wsdl has more than one service

    - by Hugo Palma
I'm trying to get hold of the FindService on this wsdl using jaxws. I generated the classes just fine using wsimport. But when i do: FindService findService = new FindService(); i get the exception: Exception in thread "main" javax.xml.ws.WebServiceException: {http://s.mappoint.net/mappoint-30/}FindService is not a valid service. Valid services are: {http://s.mappoint.net/mappoint-30/}CommonService So, it seems that jaxws is only finding CommonService in the wsdl which is the first one declared in it. Any idea how i can use the FindService ? Thanks.

  • What is resource-ref in web.xml used for?

    - by Denise
Hi everyone, I'm just wondering when/why you would define a resource-ref element in your web.xml file? I would have thought that it would be defined in your web/app server using JNDI and then look up the JNDI reference in your Java code? The resource-ref definition seems a bit redundant to me and I can't think of when it might be useful. Example: <resource-ref> <description>Primary database</description> <res-ref-name>jdbc/primaryDB</res-ref-name> <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type> <res-auth>CONTAINER</res-auth> </resource-ref> Thanks!

  • JSF2 - Why does render response not rerender component setting?

    - by fekete-kamosh
From the tutorial: "If the request is a postback and errors were encountered during the apply request values phase, process validations phase, or update model values phase, the original page is rendered during Render response phase" (http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/bnaqq.html) Does it mean that if view is restored in "Restore View" phase and then any apply request/validation/update model phase fails and skips to "Render response" that Render response only passes restored view without any changes to client? • Is it possible to build a JPA entity by extending a POJO?

    - by Freiheit
Lets say I have the following POJO: public class MyThing { private int myNumber; private String myData; //assume getter/setter methods } Is it now possible to extend this POJO as a JPA entity? @Entity @Table(name = "my_thing") public class MyThingEntity extends MyThing implements Serializable { @Column(name = "my_number") //????????? @Column(name = "my_data") //???????? } I want to keep the POJO separate from the JPA entity. The POJO lives in a different project and is often used without a persistence layer, my project wants to persist it in a database and do so without the overhead of mapping from a POJO to an entity and back. I understand that JPA entities are POJOs, but in order to use it I would have to include a library that implements javax.persistence and the other projects using the same base object have no use for a persistence layer. Is this possible? Is this a good idea?

  • Asynchronous Processing in JBoss 6 ("Comet")

    - by chris_l
edit: Retagged as tomcat, since this is really a question about the Tomcat embedded inside JBoss 6, rather than JBoss itself I have an extremely simple servlet, which works on Glassfish v3. It uses Servlet 3.0 Asynchronous Processing. Here's a simplified version (which doesn't do much): @WebServlet(asyncSupported=true) public class SimpleServlet extends HttpServlet { @Override protected void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException { final AsyncContext ac = request.startAsync(); ac.setTimeout(3000); } } On JBoss 6.0.0 (Milestone 2), I get the following Exception: java.lang.IllegalStateException: The servlet or filters that are being used by this request do not support async operation at org.apache.catalina.connector.Request.startAsync(Request.java:3096) at org.apache.catalina.connector.Request.startAsync(Request.java:3090) at org.apache.catalina.connector.RequestFacade.startAsync(RequestFacade.java:990) at playcomet.SimpleServlet.doGet(SimpleServlet.java:18) at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:734) ... Do I have to do anything special to enable Asynchronous Processing in JBoss 6? Or do I need an additional deployment descriptor? ...

  • How can I create a new email account in Java?

    - by Jeremy Goodell
I am able to send and receive emails from my JSPs and associated Java code using the Java Mail API (javax.mail.*). Now I would like to create a new POP3 email account programmatically when a user registers for my site. I've found surprisingly little information about this with web searches. I would think it would be a somewhat common problem. It appears that the Java Mail API does not provide any assistance in this area. I have many email accounts available under my godaddy account, and to manually create an account, I just go to the godaddy email control panel, click Add, and specify the email address and password. This is exactly what I would like to do via a Java program. Any ideas?

  • Colouring JTree's TreeNodes

    - by Amadan
I have a JTree which I give objects that implement the TreeNode interface, and a custom TreeModel to display them (not using DefaultMutableTreeNode). I would like to change the text colour of some nodes. I can't find anything in the docs, except javax.swing.tree.DefaultTreeCellRenderer.setTextNonSelectionColor(Color newColor), but it will change everything indiscriminately, and I only need it for some nodes (specifically, broken links, i.e. nodes whose corresponding files can't be found on the disk, should be greyed out, the rest should be default). Can it be done, and how?

  • calling webservice in java servlet

    - by Pravin
I have created a servlet which displays a form having some fields and a submit button and also created a web service having methods which are needed in my servlet. I have deployed the web service on Tomcat 5.5.9/Axis and servlet web application on Tomcat ( same instance of Tomcat) using eclipse. Since one is web service and other is web application both are running on separate instances of tomcat, so when i run them separately i.e servlet without the call to web service and a client that access that webservice it works fine but when i integrate them both i get a error like exception: javax.servlet.ServletException I would like to call the web service and return the result when i press the button Please advice me on how to implement that.

  • Spring/Hibernate: InvocationTargetException when deleting entity

    - by niklassaers
I'm sorry if this question is a bit vague, but I'm quite confused. I've got a controller that calls a service to delete an entity and then create an entity in its place. In the service, I've got my DAO, and my entity, and I want to delete my entity, so I call DAO.delete(entity); Then, seemingly out of nowhere, I get an InvocationTargetException. The parameters here are: method: public org.springframework.web.servlet.ModelAndView tld.myproject.view.web.controller.MyController.replaceEntity(org.springframework.web.multipart.MultipartFile,javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest) target: tld.myproject.view.web.controller.MyController@185918e args: [org.springframework.web.multipart.commons.CommonsMultipartFile@14812a6, org.springframework.web.multipart.support.DefaultMultipartHttpServletRequest@c08a64] ex: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException private Object doInvokeMethod(Method method, Object target, Object[] args) throws Exception { ReflectionUtils.makeAccessible(method); try { return method.invoke(target, args); } catch (InvocationTargetException ex) { ReflectionUtils.rethrowException(ex.getTargetException()); } throw new IllegalStateException("Should never get here"); } Does anyone have a suggestion to what's going on? Anything I can use in my debugging? Cheers Nik

  • MIDI on Android: Java and/or AIR libraries

    - by yar
I've been contemplating (re)building an app on iPad for some time, where I would use objective-C and DSMI to send MIDI signals to a host computer. This is not bad (I mean, except for actually writing the app). Now I'm contemplating perhaps developing the app for Android tablets (TBA). In Java, what options are available for MIDI message communication? I'm quite familiar with javax.sound.midi, but then I would need a virtual MIDI port to send messages to the host. On the other hand, if the app were done in Adobe AIR, what options would I have available for communicating with MIDI? Obviously another option is to send/receive messages over a TCP/IP socket to a Java host, and talk that way, but it sounds a tad cumbersome... or perhaps not? DSMI does use a host program, after all.

  • Creating BlackBerry method stubs using wscompile on WSDL from ColdFusion

    - by Jim B
I have been working on a BlackBerry application that consumes web services from ColdFusion 7. The Java ME SDK and the Java Wireless Toolkit both require that the generated WSDL be of the document/literal type. Fortunately, I have input on the web service development so I tried setting 'style="document"' in the cfcomponent tag. This generated a document/literal style WSDL but now wscompile generates the following errors in several places: Found unknown simple type: javax.xml.soap.SOAPElement Found unknown simple type: java.util.Calendar Any ideas why this is happening? The WSDL does get parsed correctly by the JWSDP tool but the stubs use namespaces that are not available in the J2ME platform. I would have thought ColdFusion WSDL would work more easily with other products in the Java family.

  • Will client JVM for a web service(https) throw an SSL Exception when the server is having a valid ce

    - by ring bearer
I have a web service deployed on tomcat hosted on a remote server. I have set it up such that it can be accessed only via HTTPS. For this, I generated a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) and used it to get a temporary certificate from VeriSign. My web service client is on my local machine. If I try to access the service it will throw a javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException:unable to find valid certification path to requested target If I install the certificate in to local Java's keystore, the issue will be resolved. My question is if I install a valid SSL certificate from a CA in to my tomcat server, will I get this client-side error even if I do not import the certificate to local key store?

  • Correct way to Convert 16bit PCM Wave data to float

    - by fredley
    I have a wave file in 16bit PCM form. I've got the raw data in a byte[] and a method for extracting samples, and I need them in float format, i.e. a float[] to do a Fourier Transform. Here's my code, does this look right? I'm working on Android so javax.sound.sampled etc. is not available. private static short getSample(byte[] buffer, int position) { return (short) (((buffer[position + 1] & 0xff) << 8) | (buffer[position] & 0xff)); } ... float[] samples = new float[samplesLength]; for (int i = 0;i<input.length/2;i+=2){ samples[i/2] = (float)getSample(input,i) / (float)Short.MAX_VALUE; }

  • SSL connection using Java standalone app

    - by Marquinio
I have created a standalone executable JAR program that needs to send private information over a SSL connection. I was not able to establish the SSL connection using certificates. Was getting this: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path `building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target` So I found some code somewhere that creates a trust manager that does not validate certificate chains: // Create a trust manager that does not validate certificate chains TrustManager[] trustAllCerts = new TrustManager[]{ new X509TrustManager() { public java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] getAcceptedIssuers() { return null; } public void checkClientTrusted( java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] certs, String authType) { } public void checkServerTrusted( java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] certs, String authType) { } } }; That did the trick and I was able to establish SSL connection without any certificates. My concern is if the data will still be encrypted when exchanging private information. This is an execute JAR file that clients will be downloading to their computers. So is a certificate really necessary for this case? Thanks.
